Started our adventure on the TN Whiskey Trail and this was our 1st stop. Tried their Watermelon Waltz cocktail, which was perfectly balanced and was so refreshing! Could get some of the gin flavor pulling through. My husband tried the New Fashioned, which also had a great balance and was enjoyable. Our son ordered a whiskey flight which they currently had 5 kinds. Can't say that he was very impressed with most of them. I found a few of them lacking flavor and bite. To be honest, all 3 of us agreed that our favorite was the Rock 'n Rye which is a collaboration with Tupelo Honey. It is packing so much flavor that we ended up buying a bottle for the house! I can honestly say that we will definitely go back for a refreshing gin cocktail in the near future!

Google
Best Rye on Rocks ( ask for a solid big cube) you’re gonna get in TN. And my girl got the cocktail Back Woods Barbie she said it was yummy and it kind of taste like frosting. Nice Patio out front to enjoy the sun. Cheers!

Google
Great drinks, great environment, nice outdoor seating, mostly good staff. The other night one staff member with pink hair was exceptionally rude and disrespectful. She stood behind the bar and did nothing (literally, nothing. Would not even look us in the eye) while her coworker helped the half a dozen people waiting. She started closing the outside seating before 1030 on a Friday while it was busy and a bunch of people still had drinks in their hands. Post closes at 11 on Fridays. She was snappy, told us to get up and that they’re were closing early, and literally took the chairs out of under people. It was really weird and rude. There were still a bunch of people inside the bar getting drinks and sitting outside with drinks in hand. I asked her a question and she completely ignored me. I didn’t see her make a drink the entire night I was there. I didn’t see her speak to any of the customers. Not sure why she’s a staff member, honestly. Generally the crew there is really fun, a lot of the girls are great to chat with. It’s a great bar, great drinks, and generally very pleasant staff and environment. Five stars except for the lady with pink hair.

Google
2nd time visiting recently and it was amazing again! Last time I tried the whiskeys but this time it was all about the liqueurs. They were fantastic! As a fan of bitter, strong, herbal flavors I loved them. Perfect for me straight but for others, they would be great in cocktails. Also, my brother was the dd and they made him some wonderful nonalcoholic cocktails. Amazing staff and amazing products! Strong reccomend!

Google
Super unique take on cocktails. I always enjoy coming here because their cocktails are well crafted and their liquor is of good quality. They are constantly changing the menu and making new creations - super passionate about their work and it shows! Can’t get high end original cocktails like such anywhere else in Knoxville!

Google
Absolutely amazing cocktails and mixed drinks. Tons of different variations of gin, vodka, and other liquors. Fantastic servers helped us explain flavors and tastes so we'll with the different types of liquor and spices that come out of their drinks. Great experience not very large area but it was quick and delicious drinks on a Friday night.

Google
We are traveling and we have this awesome passport for the whiskey trail. We get there on a Sunday and their hours were from noon to 9 pm we get there at 8 pm and there was a note on the door saying that sorry we closed at 6 today. My mum and I were very upset that we were not able to try this places drinks and get the stamp for our passport.

Google
Awesome local distiller, their Spanish Gin drink was well worth the extra cost. Loved the herbs. We got the elderberry Gin mixed drink which wasn't as good. Ended up buying a bottle of their Uproot Gin, you can taste the hints of Szechuan peppercorn. Also bought the Jack Rudy Tonic Syrup but have not been very impressed with it. Definitely hit this place up!

Yelp
We stopped here as part of the Whiskey Trail experience, and not only was it the worst customer service of the 28 distilleries we visited, the female bartender (red hair, black glasses) was the rudest bartender I have met in my 20 years of being in hospitality. When we walked in, she glared at us as if we had interrupted something. She didn't greet us, didn't ask what we'd like to try, only gave us one word answers to any question that we asked. Never once smiled or tried to engage us. My friend was so frustrated with trying to get information from her that he stood up and almost walked out. I kept trying to engage her and even complemented her cute dress. Nothing. Stone face. I wanted to try the amaro flight and asked for it. She prepared it, set it in front of me, and said "so you'll want to close out now?" I told her "yes, that would be great, when I'm finished with my tasting". She proceeded to lean up against the bar with her back to us and didn't say another word. I had to get up and walk to the register, and when she finally turned around, I asked her "have we done something to upset you?" She said "no, why?" I said "because you seem REALLY annoyed that we're here". Her only response was to turn the register screen around and tell me the total. I'm so sad about this because I really wanted to taste other items and get a cocktail, but she was SO unpleasant and we felt SO unwelcome., Seeing all of the other great reviews, I can only imagine that they were with other people. I wish those other bartenders had been there.

Yelp
Boozy grapefruit slushy? YES. Just say yes. This cocktail bar distills their own booze right next door (you can be a creepster and peek in!). They sell bottles of varying sizes at the bar and also at other places around town, including Total Wine. We love that they offer sampler flights with different liquors and also different size pours. They give you a tray with a sheet that describes the flavor profile for each offering. We also were given slushy samples and a customized gin sample, mixed with another shot to sip. We ordered slushies to enjoy on the patio and a flight with Hi Rye Whiskey, Ginferous Gin (favorite!), Uproot Gin, and Barrel Rested Cacoa Liqueur. I can't believe the differing flavors they can produce within the same type of booze. Masterful! The bartenders are friendly and so dang knowledgable. We purchased a bottle of Ginferous Gin and have kept the party going at home. Can't wait to go back! What a cool spot.

Yelp
We happened upon this place after dinner one evening. My husband had the Whiskey Pour and I had the Yuligan's. It was very clean unique and refreshing!

Jim S.

Yelp
Service was great. Had a quick cocktail there before heading out for the night. Super clean.

Rajesh P.

Yelp
Great place to get flights is whisky. The bartenders are really nice and engaged. Love it here

Dave B.

Yelp
Trying to complete the Tennessee whiskey trail so stopped in to check this place out. Honestly disappointed. Of the 20+ distilleries I've visited so far (from Memphis' Old Dominick Distillery to Hartford's Bootleggers) this was the least friendly bar tenders. They seemingly specialize and pride themselves on mixology and using different flavors and sweeteners. Drinks were tasty, but I appreciate attention on the spirits themselves. No doubt others will love this place, it just wasn't my favorite. Certainly worth checking out!

Reema P.

Yelp
Liz and Deb made me happy cry. They are some of the friendliest bartenders I have ever met, ever. I walked in needing a shot, after a rough week with my best friend, who also had a rough week. They absolutely made my night. They are so nice and so welcoming!!! I have never been here before but I will be back for these two!!!

Mary Kate E.

Yelp
Came in for their specialty drinks and whiskey trail stop. I enjoyed my drinks and the bartender. It's a cute little setup with a vast array of liquors made. It is not your typical whiskey trail type of establishment since they have an entire drink menu with their various liquor and liqueurs. You can tell a lot of TLC goes into their products. They also have food. I will try that next time.

Raven T.

Yelp
The selection here is basically impeccable. There's something for everyone and you can taste ALMOST everything and we did! We all decided to get flights. The gins were a pleasant surprise because I'm normally a whiskey gal and the chamomile liqueur was incredible.

Michael S.

Yelp
Wonderful specialty cocktails, friendly staff, and competitive prices. This place is located right beside the Pour taproom. Whenever I'm with a large group of friends I like to sit outside on their shared patio - it allows friends who like beer to get beer from Pour and others to get craft cocktails from PostModern Spirits. Perfect combination!

Faith B.

Yelp
Oh my god, go do some flight tastings with Caleb! He is a knowledgeable drink chemist in a sea of "mixologists" and great fun to talk to. My mom and I visited on my birthday, a gray January Monday, right after opening. We basically had the place to ourselves for our visit. I did the big tasting of the 9 core liquors. My mom tasted the Amaros and the whiskeys. While we each had our favorites, we enjoyed the entire experience and the comparisons and the insight. We watched Caleb make syrups of all types from scratch. We learned a lot, had a blast, and came home with some great items, including my favorite, the Amaro Arancia, a "bitter" orange liqueur that adds dimension to many drinks and is great alone. Try the Cacao, too. Essence of pure cocoa without the sickly sweetness of other chocolate liqueurs. I'll be back, with friends in tow.

Don B.

Yelp
Small batch hand crafted cocktails... yes please! This place is nice and relaxed and they have several tables to enjoy your drinks inside. They also sell bottles of liquor and some pre-mixed cocktails you can take home.

J K.

Yelp
Private tasting Great venue Tasted gin and whiskey Bought the 114 proof burns soft sipping style, great over ice Also the rye whiskey smooth good finish

Ceri F.

Yelp
We discovered postmodern spirits during our yelp elite events. It was a blast! We got to meet one of the owners, and learn about their brewing and distilling process. We were blown away at the care and the quality that they put into their spirits. Being able to go into the back and seeing how the spirits are made, was great. We have been on several brew tours as well as spirit tours and this was one of the best. It was lively, fun, informative. We were able to sample their house gin and tonic. Which came with a whole star anise! It was absolutely delicious, Spicy and crisp. My husband opted for a second gin and tonic, while I opted for one of their whiskeys. Everything was exceptional. They have a fantastic patio! You will not be sorry stopping by.

Yelp
The craft cocktail scene here in Knoxville is still somewhat on the rise. Not enough people are talking about it, due to how big craft beer is getting. Not that there's anything wrong with craft beer. Lord knows I imbibe more than a fair share. Places like the Peter Kern Library, Oliver Royale, Central Depot, and PostModern Spirits are each doing their own take on elegant cocktails, and boy is it welcome. PostModern Spirits seems to constantly be challenge themselves when it comes to the cocktail game. They have ever-evolving menus, but I also love leaving it up to the bartenders to create a cocktail they think I'd enjoy. So far, they're batting 1.000! Not only does PostModern Spirits have some of the best and most unique cocktails in town, but they also manufacture their own spirits. Each one has a great story and reasoning why it's different from the other. I love their whiskey, and have given a ton of their blended creations as gifts.

Jennifer C.

Yelp
Though free parking isn't an option, this is an establishment to be appreciated. Stephanie is an experimental cocktail enthusiast with a degree in biochemistry and a delight to talk to. If you're into discussing the many flavors that tickle your fancy when it come to cocktails, get ready for some note-taking...or at least some picture-taking (and they're happy to share). Love your place, Post-modern! And in hoping for the longest run possible, please consider a more lounge-like atmosphere to accommodate those who want to stay a while.

Sean F.

Yelp
Showed up tonight for an event. Let me say that the cocktails are super good, staff great, and the tour is one of the best. I ordered a gin and tonic, it was a special version with anise and a lemon twist. Very tasty, I followed that up with a traditional G&T, even better. My wife had the same along with a taste of their whiskey which she said was very good. Should come here and get a drink, you won't regret it. Especially in the fall, the patio is great.

Greg S.

Yelp
Great spot in the Old City to have a unique drink, made from vodka, gin, or whiskey distilled in-house, and enjoy the patio. Great atmosphere and awesome drinks. If you happen to have the time on a Sunday morning, stop in for Yoga, then enjoy the included drink afterward.

Robert S.

Yelp
Best burger I've had in my life. The Bernie is out of this world. Don't let the blueberry jam fool you, it is fantastic We will be back!

Erika M.

Yelp
PostModern Spirits delivers everything I'm looking for in a local distillery. The most important of which is the liquor. Everything that I have tried has been better than I even expected. I'm not a huge gin fan, but it's herbal and tasty. I love that it's right in the heart of downtown and they distill everything on site. The cocktails are clever and definitely creative. Their bartenders are friendly and patient to make you a cocktail that you are going to love. Don't be in a huge hurry since each of their craft cocktails are made to order and made with care. The bar is cool. It's not too big and it has a super chill and trendy vibe. The have tons of outdoor seating and are very dog friendly.

Nena P.

Yelp
This place is awesome. Great location. Fun vibe. Very interesting spirits. I'm not a gin drinker but I recommend doing a tasting to try all 5 products they offer. The vodka is very smooth and drinkable. The Giniferous Gin is good and doesn't have the crazy juniper notes and is made with Citra hops for a clean taste. The dry gin is great for a martini and the two liquors are both very different and worth a try even if it's not your thing. I went on opening night and the service was still great and the bartender walked me through each sample and was very knowledgeable about each spirit. I think it is important to note that they are only making cocktails with their own spirits so if you are wanting a whiskey soda, you'll have to wait a few months until their whiskey is ready!

Atlee M.

Yelp
I'm not sure why I had never been here, but it was amazing! They have Gin, Vodka and Whiskey and an incredible variety of creative drinks. We tried 6 different ones and felt there was something there for everyone. My favorite was a drink made with the Amaro Artemisia Liqueur. It is somehow the perfect blend of spicy, smooth, and warm. Perfect for fall. The atmosphere is casual, but creative. There is space to sit with small groups or at the bar chatting with the artists making the drinks. I highly recommend giving this place a try!

Yelp
My husband and I got married last December, but we waited to go on our honeymoon until May. While in (one of) the Ole Smokey's in the area, I found a whiskey trail booklet. We already had interest in trying a lot of the distilleries in the area since that's a big part of the Tennessee experience. Post Modern Spirits was on the trail, so the day before we went back home, we came here. We tried to go to as many of the places on the trail while in the area and happened to already be in the Knoxville area for dinner at Stock and Barrel. When we came in, they were getting ready to close in about an hour or so, but we figured that was plenty of time to split some drinks. We ended up going with a flight of four drinks that I think was priced somewhere between $5 and $10. We ended up getting two whiskeys, a gin, and a cacao liquor. The only one we ended up liking was the cacao liquor. Neither one of us are big gin fans, so that's probably why we didn't enjoy that. As far as the whiskeys, both of us really enjoy a good whiskey, but the ones were tried didn't stand out to us because they weren't very good. I would definitely buy a bottle of the cacao liquor though because it was so tasty. In addition to not liking 3 of the 4 drinks, we had a pretty poor experience with the service too. I'm awful at remembering names of servers/bartenders, so I couldn't tell you hers. We walked in and she was on her phone. One of the things that bothers me most is when people are on their phones when there are customers in front of them. She was talking about her dog and looking at pictures of him on her phone. It probably took her close to 10 minutes to take our order because she was so interested in her phone. I worked in a restaurant, and I get going on your phone when there are no customers. However, there were several people in the space besides us, so it really bothered me she was ignoring paying customers so she could look at her dog. Overall, I found a lot of places in Tennessee that I would go back to in a heartbeat, but this was not one of them.

Saba S.

Yelp
I LOVE craft cocktails, so PostModern Spirits is right up my alley. Gin is my liquor of choice. I tried two cocktails, one made with Giniferous Gin and one made with Empirical Dry Gin. Both drinks were good, but "Boys Don't Cry" was my favorite. Indoor seating seemed pretty limited. There was plenty of room at the bar when we stopped in, but it wasn't during peak hours. There were additional tables outside. My reason for a four star review is that I wish they'd carry a whiskey, bourbon, or even rum. My husband didn't end up ordering anything because he doesn't like gin or vodka. Other than that, great experience. The prices were reasonable, especially considering the complexity of the cocktails. I'll definitely go back with a drinking companion who likes gin or vodka!

Catherine G.

Yelp
Gin! Gin! Gin! If you love gin, go here! If you don't love gin, but would like to give it a shot- go here! They have a lovely strong selection of gins (and other spirits) and some kick ass cocktails! Has a great place to stay and visit and try a few.

W K.

Yelp
Went in on a Friday evening around 9pm. Bartender was very engaged in conversation (which is nice). I walked around checking out bottles, stood by the bar to order, went back to looking at bottles. I spent easily 10 or more minutes there. Bartender never acknowledged my presence. I was primarily looking for gifts and try a local distillery.

Rick A.

Yelp
Amazed by the passion with which they explained to me each and every spirit they produce in house. The flavors of their liquors and the way the present their drinks is very trendy and informative. Really impressed. Highly recommended for after work happy hours

Sandi F.

Yelp
They were closed. Shooting for Go Knoxville. They kindly let me interrupt their shoot. They explained their focus on the crafted cocktail. Yum. Only got a taste but their kindness will be remembered when I return to Knoxville. Even recommended an alternative establishment. Now that's 5 star customer service!

Annie R.

Yelp
Fun to try the different spirits! We got a flight first and then a drink each. We had to bring a couple bottles home with us for later, too. We'll definitely be back!

Rebecca N.

Yelp
Atmosphere is great. Drinks are even better. You have to be a fan of well crafted cocktails if you're going to enjoy it though. They won't throw together some BS premixed nonsense like SOME bars (who shall not be named) downtown do. PostModern staff are very careful with the details and super friendly bartenders if you're wanting to chat over a drink at the bar. The patio is also nice depending on the weather. Highly recommend!

Wil P.

Yelp
Please make this business a must visit if you are a cocktail enthusiast. What a pleasure to meet and talk to Stan, a most informative and generous host. They offer a tremendous line of craft products that will blow you away!

Jared M.

Yelp
Great distillery/tasting room/bar experience. I've only been a few times, but the cocktails are delicious and the service this last Sunday was amazing. I was there with shawty for a yoga class in the distillery - that's right, $12 for yoga and a cocktail at 11:30 AM on Sunday - and the brightest, most cheerful bartender ever made me a delicious Bloody Mary while she waited on what seemed like a dozen other people simultaneously. The booze and cocktails are solid. And while the atmosphere and seating could be cozier for my taste, great service makes all the difference. Now I can't wait to go back and give them my business.

Todd G.

Yelp
My wife and I had the most fabulous time. Thank you for the tour. Our guide was very sharp and knowledgeable. Thank you for a wonderful evening.

Wells D.

Yelp
High expectations for this distillery/ bar but was disappointed on the product of the distillery and not overly impressed with the bar. Two stars might be harsh, but quite frankly there's a standard (even in the Knoxville area) for spirits. Part of that is Knox Whiskey Works, where you can try any of their spirits neat and appreciate the quality of their product. And then there's Kentucky where... nuff said. I tried a flight and found their vodka and Gin had a particular burn - both in the head and tail (burn in mouth and chest) - and the liquors were just so-so on their own. I did try a Navy Gin cocktail, which was tasty, but had enough sweet and sour to mask the liquor itself. Bonus on the high proof, which was good for getting my Friday night going. I'll be stopping in periodically to see how PMS is doing. Pour is right next door and will keep me coming back to their building.

Sacre B.

Yelp
Amazing drinks made by super friendly staff. I am here at least once a week and have enjoyed every drink I have had. Staff will answer and questions and make suggestions based on taste. Porch is nice and makes for great people watching. Love it! No food choices except for olives and nuts. BUT you can go next door and get some food as they share the porch.

Amy L.

Yelp
One of the best places for cocktails! They are well made and are completely worth the price. I will definitely be going back!

Madison H.

Yelp
This. Is. The. Best. Bar. In. Knoxville. Want something fun, alcoholic, and f***ing delicious? This bar has it. Sweet, sour, tangy? It's there. The bartenders will blow your mind in how kind and compassionate and f***ing great at making drinks they are. If I could give this place 1600 stars out of 5, I would. But here we are. Drunk in this bar and can only give 5. (We have talked about how great this bar is sober so this isn't just a drunk review). They gave us bread one time: BREAD

Allan M.

Yelp
Bartender was one of a kind. Say "I don't like gin." And she proved us wrong. Knowledgeable, personable and genuinely happy place to taste and learn about craft cocktails. 114 proof gin... what?

Able F.

Yelp
OK, This is the experience hat made me write my first Yelp review A.K.A. bitch session. As every bartender and waiter HATES to hear I have been there and done that. To say the least my experience at PostModern was underwhelming. On a Saturday night (11/2/19) I was drawn in by the chalkboard boasting Rye Whisky. Holy crap do I love whiskey in it's many forms and ESPECIALY rye. Now cocktails and mixed drinks are fine but the true test of a distiller is in the raw spirit. (Personally I prefer whiskey cut with water via melted ice.) The Post Modern Rye whiskey was, sadly, depression era bath tub quality at best which, I can forgive as, Old Overholt did not piss out an excellent whiskey in a year or two. There are decades, if not a centuries or so which go into making a fine whiskey and I prey that one day they make the finest in the world. Keep up your most noble work damn you!!! My deepest criticism comes from the service experience. The bar was staffed by three young women (one seemed to be training) and my over all impression was that I was intruding on their gal time. Now I understand that, as an over weight 30 something man, I don't garner a lot of attention from the ladies but there is a simple and basic customer service stander which I did not get. I mean the basic, how are you, what do you think of our product, thanks for paying my paying my bills that was completely and totally absent. In the end I spent $11.74 ($8.74 + $$3.00 tip (I'm not a total POS)) to have a bad experience. Which is, monetarily is a pittance, but considering I could have had a Whistle Pig for about the same money down the block I wasn't given a reason to come back. That isn't to say I have given up on the company as a whole and again I REALY want them to make something worth putting up with crap customer service for but ATM it isn't there.

Rick B.

Yelp
Excellent homemade cocktails. I had a mule and a gin fizz. Both were excellent, light and full of flavor.

Amie C.

Yelp
The bartenders really know their stuff! Eric and Taylor were in charge of our liquor tasting and gave us great detail in each tasting. Great vibe, delicious cocktails, and super easy to make new friends! They really know their gin and will release new flavors in the near future. Check this place out if you're looking for a local distillery that's spicing up the Knoxville nightlife!

Geoff W.

Yelp
Loved this place. Sat and talked to the Master Distiller for a couple of hours. Definitely recommend this place. The single malt scotch is excellent, BUT get them to make you a gin and tonic with their in-house crafted 118 proof "sailor's" gin and their imported tonic mix - absolutely brilliant. Glad my wife drove after that.

Mariah M.

Yelp
What an awesome spot! Cool building, upscale relaxing atmosphere and their distillery is super cool! Bar and distillery staff are super knowledgeable and everyone was so friendly! Great experience everytime time we go!
