My husband and I got married last December, but we waited to go on our honeymoon until May. While in (one of) the Ole Smokey's in the area, I found a whiskey trail booklet. We already had interest in trying a lot of the distilleries in the area since that's a big part of the Tennessee experience. Post Modern Spirits was on the trail, so the day before we went back home, we came here. We tried to go to as many of the places on the trail while in the area and happened to already be in the Knoxville area for dinner at Stock and Barrel.
When we came in, they were getting ready to close in about an hour or so, but we figured that was plenty of time to split some drinks. We ended up going with a flight of four drinks that I think was priced somewhere between $5 and $10. We ended up getting two whiskeys, a gin, and a cacao liquor. The only one we ended up liking was the cacao liquor. Neither one of us are big gin fans, so that's probably why we didn't enjoy that. As far as the whiskeys, both of us really enjoy a good whiskey, but the ones were tried didn't stand out to us because they weren't very good. I would definitely buy a bottle of the cacao liquor though because it was so tasty.
In addition to not liking 3 of the 4 drinks, we had a pretty poor experience with the service too. I'm awful at remembering names of servers/bartenders, so I couldn't tell you hers. We walked in and she was on her phone. One of the things that bothers me most is when people are on their phones when there are customers in front of them. She was talking about her dog and looking at pictures of him on her phone. It probably took her close to 10 minutes to take our order because she was so interested in her phone. I worked in a restaurant, and I get going on your phone when there are no customers. However, there were several people in the space besides us, so it really bothered me she was ignoring paying customers so she could look at her dog.
Overall, I found a lot of places in Tennessee that I would go back to in a heartbeat, but this was not one of them.
