I eat poutine everywhere I can find it. I've driven from coast to coast in Canada eating every one I can find. This one is decent. The fries are properly twice fried and they give plenty of genuine fresh cheese curds (I paid $2 for extra and it was a good value). It was not squeaky but you don't get that often outside of Quebec or Wisconsin anyway. My only gripe is with the gravy. I ordered the beef gravy and it tasted like no other beef gravy I've ever had. It tasted strong like herbs and mushroom but not beef and it was strangely clear. I asked if they had mistakenly given me the vegan gravy, but the person said it was in fact the beef. I still have my doubts but whatever. I doubt I'll go back but it was worth a try. I wouldn't discourage anyone from trying it if they are in the mood for poutine, it's pretty good.

Tried the poutine. Vegetarian gravy was delicious. I didn't really care for the fries. Cheese curds were decent.

Had fries with two sauces: pesto airlines ( what's not to like ) and satay. Satay was not my thing for fries, but was good. It's a cart, so 'dine in' meant sitting around a fire under a tin roof in the rain... so perfect for me!

This place is basically the high watermark by which I judge any other poutine offering in Portland. The fries are perfect, none of that Sysco garbage. My only critique is that their gravy is an obvious weak link - thin, watery, and not very flavorful. Even still, it's better poutine than you'll find almost anywhere in Portland!

We were so so excited to stop here, however we left bummed with the quality of the fries and them not providing the extra sauce we paid for. Would love to try again & maybe next time the fries won’t be hard and burnt.

0 stars if I could. I’m from Canada and even if they say “our take on the Canadian poutine” this is NOTHING LIKE THAT. Prices that are online are different from the actual prices (I forgot to take a picture, sorry). The fried are half cooked, the gravy is a mixture of some weird spices along with spinach like taste which was just off, and the curds came in cold and not even put on. A kid could have made this. I’m so disappointed by my purchase and felt so bad I didn’t feel like talking about it in the rain to my owner. If you’re reading this, please make your fries better and not charge $13 for it. Your name is LITERALLY potato champion.

We read about Potato Champion in Lonely Planet and as we love poutine we had to stop in. Parking isn't great. The poutine was underwhelming- curds were not melted at all and the gravy was very sweet, unlike any poutine we've had throughout Canada and the upper Midwest. We wouldn't recommend.
