Potato Chips Deli Review - Century City - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"A sandwich is only as good as the bread it's on. So the simple fact that Potato Chips Deli in the Westfield mall uses really good ciabatta puts it ahead of most lunch places around Century City. Then, once you consider their pastrami with a thick rim of black pepper or the crunchy chicken milanese with spicy aioli, there's no contest between this place and any other sandwich shop in the area. Come on your lunch break or for a midday pick-me-up after scavenging the clearance section at Anthropologie." - Nikko Duren

The 16 Best Restaurants Lunch In Culver City - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"If you’re roaming around downtown Culver and are craving a good sandwich, head to Potato Chips. This is technically the second location (the original is in Beverly Grove), and it’s still one of the most underrated sandwich shops in the city, with house-made ciabatta rolls stuffed with everything from tuna salad to Impossible meatballs. Favorites of ours include the roast turkey with havarti and herb aioli and the crunchy chicken Milanese." - Jess Basser Sanders, Brant Cox

I usually order here for delivery. Great bread, solid sandwiches! Reliable and flavorful. I get the Italian usually and it is better than most sandwich spots in LA. I’m from NYC originally and it’s hard to get a good hero here but this place rocks. Prices are good for the size and it is consistently quality. Always get chips and I like a side of their spicy sauce to dip the sandwich in!

Google
That was a fabulous turkey sandwich. Ultra flavorful with amazing bread. The ciabatta’s crust crunches and gives way to a pillowy and light inside. The ingredients are top notch and the flavors go together super well.

Google
The bacon breakfast sandwich is the best in Culver City! All others are almost as good too. Go there once a week at least! Really recommend.

Picked up our sandwiches to go. Service was great! Fast casual ambiance. Sandwich is definitely high quality but for some reason the veggie one just felt kind of dry. Maybe it was the toasted part of the bread. I felt it could use a sauce. But loved the fennel & arugula that brought in so much flavor. I would definitely be back to try a different sandwich!

Google
This deli is on a cute side street in Culver City. I got a huge sandwich with 2-3 inches of fresh turkey drizzled in balsamic that lasted me several meals. The customer service was great and I parked in the public lot around the corner and walked through the alley. Super easy! Recommend.

Google
Let me make myself clear- their sandwiches are delicious. They have a very unique bread and use quality ingredients. I don’t eat there often because it’s hard to justify a $20 sandwich. Needless to say I have to give this place 1 star for two reasons- 1. How does a sit down restaurant not have a bathroom or at least a place for customers to wash their meat hooks before handling their lunch. 2. I was left utterly speechless today after being charged $3.50 for a can of Coke Zero. Come on Mr Pringle, Mr Chip or Mr Potato- whoever you are. That is highway robbery.

Google
We walked in and the staff was dancing behind the counter. They were happy; we were happy to be there. The turkey/brie sandwich was delicious! The tuna sandwich was delicious, too.

Google
Potato Chip is absolutely delicious! I’ve had about 4-5 of their different sandwiches at the Culver City location, and have found all of them to be fantastic. Their bread is probably what makes the sandwiches for me, soft in the middle, with a toasted crunch on the outside. It’s a pretty small spot, without much parking (cause Culver City sucks), but the staff is super friendly and they get your order to you quickly. I can recommend their Philly Cheesesteak, Pastrami, Chicken Parmesan, Roast Beef and Turkey. All excellent!

Yelp
My new favorite sandwich place in Culver City! Stopped in here for lunch due to me craving a sandwich and being in the area. The restaurant gives me a true sandwich shop or pizza shop vibe when you walk in and you can smell the aromas of the food. The staff were super friendly and ran me through options of the most popular dishes. I ended ordering the chicken Milanese sandwich. It was a great portion and super flavorful. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
Nice sandwich shop right in the heart of Culver City. Sparkling clean and bright with a pretty tiled floor, framed vintage photos on the walls and chalkboards integrated into the decor. There's an easy free parking structure just a block to the west with free parking for an hour. The service is super fast and with a smile. Beverages come from a refrigerator on the wall and you pick the bottle yourself. I ordered at the counter to eat in and took a seat by the window; they brought my freshly made sandwich to me on a clean metal tray in less than five minutes. I love the tuna sandwich. It's made with Italian olive oil-packaged tuna, capers, havarti cheese, basil, tomato, and balsamic vinegar on their signature ciabatta bread. The sandwiches are a little bit on the pricey side, but they are large, very fresh, and made with delicious crunchy and chewy ciabatta bread. It's a big sandwich and a decent value as it's so well put together; I couldn't finish my entire sandwich and had to take half of it home. It tasted even better later! I was a bit disappointed that they don't have any freshly made potato chips or include any chips whatsoever with an order, since that's the name of the restaurant. That sort of surprised me. Since it's called "Potato Chips Deli", was expecting some fabulous potato chips or something with the sandwich. There is a chips option on the online menu for $3.95, but I only found out about that later as the printed menu on the wall at the front of the restaurant only has a list of sandwiches. It doesn't mention chips, but there is a display of multiple chip options on a shelf to the right of the cash register. Guess I'm a potato chips aficionado =) They have a really nice little terrace outside for seating and also indoor seating as well. Super cute. This is such a fun and walkable neighborhood and it's a great place to meet up with friends.

Yelp
Easy, great menu, fresh, and DELICIOUS! Truly made to order - they fried the chicken fresh for each sandwich. Staff were friendly. Bread was perfect. Good selection of drinks, too. I will be dreaming about this chicken Caesar salad sandwich for the rest of my days!

Yelp
Tasty sandwiches made with fresh ciabatta rolls. Clean, bright shop with a nice variety of sandwiches offered. We had the vegetarian, the Italian, and a Philly cheesesteak sandwich. Each sandwich had just the right amount of ingredients - not too little and not too much. They also have many different types of bags of potato chips in different flavors to go with your sandwich. Canned & bottled beverages offered. Reasonable prices and good service. I can see why this place has loyal customers.

Yelp
Such a cute little deli in downtown culver city! Very affordable and filling! Didn't get any potato chips but they have a huge variety of unique flavors displayed. Service was not too bad. Worth a try if you're feeling hungry!

Yelp
I have been dying to try this place since I found out about this place, but the thought of driving to downtown Culver City put me off. Luckily I was in the area today and thought I'd finally try it. I placed an order via their website at 12:03pm and it was expected it would be ready by 12:25pm. I got there around 12:15pm and it was ready. Parking is street parking only to my knowledge and good luck finding a spot. I got the Turkey sandwich and split it with my mom. My mom was raving about it after her first bite. The bread is thin and a little crispy, but so good. The aioli spread inside the sandwich is delicious and there's so much meat . I'm not a huge balsamic fan and I totally missed on the description, but it really elevated the sandwich so I wasn't even mad. I also loved that they used havarti cheese instead of cheddar or provolone, it just adds extra flavor.

Doug S.

Yelp
A hole in the wall type place. You could walk right past it without even noticing. That's ok by selfish me, who likes that I don't have to wait in a long line, or wait for a table to open up. The service is top notch. Always honors special requests and the sandwiches are prepared with love. I've sampled several of their sandwiches and to date I haven't been disappointed. My friend likes the tuna sandwich which is prepared in European fashion with no mayo. I like the meatball sandwich and roast beef with sharp cheddar. Sandwiches are served on a warm crusty ciabatta style roll. Prices are higher, but I think it's worth it.

Ricky G.

Yelp
Just okay sandwiches, some travel well, some don't. The bread itself has not been the best at holding all the insides. The chicken Milanese was good and the Italian was so dressed the bread couldn't hold up. A lot of options, and clean shop.

Yelp
This has to be the second worst sandwich I have ever eaten! It's so bad, I stopped eating the sandwich to write this review. I should have followed my first mind and ordered from Ghost Sando, but no, I just had to give this place a try. Big mistake. I ordered the Turkey Sandwich and requested onions and extra mayonnaise. I received no onions, no mayonnaise! I had to add my own onions and mayonnaise. I put my request in all CAPS! The top of the receipt also states "Customer has custom instructions - see below." The receipt also indicates "3 items - some contain special instructions." Reading is FUNDAMENTAL! Posted pictures, including the receipt. I called PCD-Culver City and asked to speak with a manager, that's how bad the sandwich is. I was told the manager was not available and gave the person that answered the phone my name and phone number because he asked. When I told him the lettuce is wilted, he asked me if it was the balsamic vinegar, NO, I know what wilted lettuce looks and tastes like. I keep looking at the sorry a$$ sandwich as I'm writing this review. Never will I ever eat at PCD-Culver City or any of their locations. How hard is it to make a sandwich?!? Just PATHETIC!
google avatar

John C.

Yelp
I've been there a couple times. While the sandwiches are good, the bread is not for me. The dusting on it makes it taste too dry and for me, it takes away from the burst of flavors inside. They have Zapp's chips, so that's a plus.
google avatar

Emily D.

Yelp
Really good and flavorful sandwich! The bread is so soft and makes the sandwich. Only qualm is how expensive a plain turkey sandwich is (18$).
google avatar

Bruce N.

Yelp
I love this place Recently found this branch long a devotee of their stores on Beverly blvd and Wilshire Quick service fresh food and bread reasonable prices
google avatar

Yelp
The meatball sandwich was petty darn good. I wish they had a branch in Porter Ranch.
google avatar

Kaitlyn B.

Yelp
Stopped in to pick up a quick sandwich on my way home from work and they had it out within minutes! Excellent service and not to mention one of the best sandwiches I've ever had! Highly recommend the Gouda sandwich, I have just never had anything like it. Will definitely be back soon!
google avatar

Dayna C.

Yelp
These sandwiches are jamming. Just delicious. I get a veggie with fennel for God's sake, and I could have that sandwich everyday. Sometimes I add roast beef. The bread is noms. They sell a decent variety of chips. Solid upscale sandwich spot. Friendly staff and good eats. I'm here for it.
google avatar

Cheryl S.

Yelp
First timers for take out and we both enjoyed our sandwiches! I had the turkey. Though can't say i really noticed the aioli or arugula, as some reviewers raved about. Husband is very hard to please. He enjoyed his meatball sandwich so much he actually said it was good! The bread was flavorful, strucured, and yet airy (not a jaw breaker). The meatball expertly came with a perfect small side of marinara.
google avatar

Yanin S.

Yelp
The veggie sandwich is always perfect when we order it: fresh, light, but very satisfying. Tomatoes were so crisp I thought they were sliced apples. Staff are sweet and very helpful. Parking is very convenient: several garages are nearby if street parking isn't available. Finally -- a great, reliably fresh neighborhood deli.
google avatar

Tiffany P.

Yelp
"Artisanal" is a stretch but definitely several steps above Subway and Jersey Mike's. I don't dream about this sandwich, but the turkey with havarti is a great lunch (my husband's go-to is the roast beef).

Aubrey G.

Yelp
Best sandwiches in LA hands down!!! Amazing fast service. Ingredients are fresh, the store front is so cute as well! Underrated spot for sure, I love this place!
google avatar

Alec A.

Yelp
Great, non-messy sandwich. Didn't fall apart. Does an Italian right. Taste: I got the Italian and the bread was high quality and the proportion of bread to fillings was good. Every bite was roughly the same and delicious. Experience: I just walked in on a Saturday around noon, no wait and quickly made sandwich. I didn't particularly notice anything about the decor. This is a good to-go option for sitting out on a nice day. Mood Before/After: I was feeling optimistic this day about making some positive life changes, and this didn't distract me from those good feelings. I'd also been having a rough last few days, so no triggers here. Fullness: plenty of food. I could've stopped at half my sandwich. What else did I eat/do today affecting my experience: I was telling my good friend about all the ways I went wrong in a recently ended relationship. I felt really bad and sad, I just wanted something easy to eat and this was the right choice.

Yelp
It's my new go to postmates order sandwich spot. I've gotten the Italian and the turkey and I've loved each of the orders. The portions are generous and the ingredients always taste fresh including the bread that's great. They do include oil and vinegar on some of their sandwiches so if you're not accustomed to that I'd make sure to exclude those for a dryer sandwich. TLDR - great sandwiches - tasty cookies - they do in fact have potatoe chips
google avatar

Rebecca F.

Yelp
Loved this place! I live walking distance and have been eyeing it out since it opened. I have been hesitant to go because I thought it was pricey but it end up being worth every penny! Good size sandwiches, they will definitely fill you up! The bread was soooo good, nice and toasty on the outside and chewy on the inside. And not chintzey at all on the protein! Ingredients couldn't have been fresher. Nice outside seating in the heart of Downtown Culver. Friendly staff. As far as drinks go, they do have some bottled beverages, however do not carry ice, just FYI. I will definitely be back!
google avatar

Josh G.

Yelp
Although I did not personally order a sand-which I indirectly found out this place is so wonderful. My friend ordered the veggie sandwhich and added an egg and I took a bit to try and it was so delicious! Also the workers here are extremely honest about the menu and nice just in general just to be nice. Really welcoming place and insightful to your needs. Def wanna come back and order that veggie sandwhich! The sauces are so good!
google avatar

Alex G.

Yelp
Expensive but delicious. $17 for a sandwich. Oof. But it's seriously great. The chicken Milanese and turkey/brie special are must-tries.
google avatar

Ashima K.

Yelp
SO good - was in the rare mood for a sandwich and when a sandwich craving hits that's not satiated by the sad ingredients you have at home, there's not much you can do but get your hands on one, and this version is a great one. Had a rough time deciding, but went with the Chicken Milanese in the end, as I had vague desires for a chicken parm building. Good bread, good ratio of fresh, crunchy veggies to crispy chicken filet and delicious sauce! I dipped this in some marinara at home for fun, and really enjoyed that too. Will be back for more!
google avatar

Elaine S.

Yelp
Super hearty sandwiches if you want a fulfilling meal or want to have enough leftover for dinner later. I don't get sandwiches too often but I've yet to try a sandwich here that I didn't like. Simple, no frills place with straightforward service. Not much seating but not a problem since there are outdoor benches or you can head to the big staircase across the street to sit there.
google avatar

Lisa H.

Yelp
I used to work in the area and walked in one day on my lunch break and am glad I did! They also have a location in century city that I go to often. The sandwiches are simple but delicious. I usually get the Turkey sandwich with chips and it is consistently great! The bread is always toasted perfectly. The service is also always great.

Katie D.

Yelp
Food is always excellent. Maybe busier than other locations so food can take a while after ordering. Solid sandwiches if you're in the area.
google avatar

Letitia H.

Yelp
Stopped in during my lunch break and I was not disappointed! I went with the chicken parm sandwich, chips (of course) and a soda. The bread was crispy on the outside and soft in the inside. The chicken was fresh and not overly breaded and the sauce makes the whole sandwich. I told the guy at the front that I loved the sandwich and he was nice enough and he gave me cookie. The sandwich was soooo good that I actually ate the whole thing. If I'm ever in the area again, I will definitely stop in and grab a delicious sandwich.

Say C.

Yelp
The sandwiches are fine but a bit expensive. Honestly, will stick to Jersey Mike's for the long haul. Some may not be a fan of the crunchy, hard bread. Pros: Packaging done well Fresh ingredients UberEats prices match in restaurant prices! Variety Cons: High Price Average, regular taste Bread hit-or-miss Regular size

Yelp
Best Culver Sandwich? I've been to this spot a few times, and I was surprised when yelp told me I had not yet reviewed Potato Chips Deli.  Located in the heart of downtown Culver City, right across from the new Culver City Stairs, they were such an unassuming sandwich shop.  I took a friend who lives in Brentwood on a Sunday, and the street where this is located was blocked off and lined with tables and chairs. Rocco's right next-door gets a little rowdy during football games, but we had a pleasant experience sitting on the street with plenty of room to ourselves!  This is also a great spot for families because there is a ton of outdoor space to park a stroller. You can also grab this to-go and sit at the Culver Steps! Sandwich 5/5 My go to is the Italian sub. It's one of the best Italians I've had, and it's really hard for me to want to deviate from that selection when I come here. I've also gotten the turkey which is excellent as well. What makes the sandwich elevated from other places? The bread. The bread is so good! It's a medium firmness. It holds together like a hard bread, so it doesn't get soggy, but it eats like a soft bread and isn't hard to get through. Also, as the name suggests, they have an amazing selection of chips. I would suggest the voodoo New Orleans style themed chips, they are so good! I will return and I will try to force myself to get some thing new next time!

Yelp
After eyeing this place up everytime I ride past, I stopped by to try a sandwich today on my lunch break and had a good experience. I asked if they had any lunch specials, to which the guy behind the counter responded that they didn't but he was happy to offer some alternatives. He also mentioned upfront that I could expect to spend around $21 or so for a combo meal with drink and chips. I ended up opting for just the sandwich but his heads up went a long way in showing a transparency on pricing that a lot of places have seemed hesitant to offer nowadays. Turkey sandwich was good. Maybe the not the best I've ever had but really good. I thought the herb aioli and bread were particularly noteworthy. I asked about it after I ate, and they said it was ciabatta. Hadn't ever knowingly had a ciabatta as crispy yet fluffy as this one but it was super tasty nonetheless. ~$14 or so for just the sandwich seemed about par for prices in the city. I have a pretty solid lunch appetite and a full sandwich left me feeling good. Generous amount of turkey. A strip or two of crispy bacon would probably put this one over the top. Also felt like it could have used a touch more of the balsamic vinegar I was excited about. Definitely worth a stop in a downtown Culver City that can often feel lacking in quality food options.

Yelp
I'll keep this short and sweet. Was craving for a meatball sandwich but wanted to try something new. So obviously what do I do? I look through Yelp for sandwiches and find this awesome shop! Mind you, I live all the way in the valley and for my sandwich to have stayed warm and not soggy for the whole ride home, I was very impressed! Meatball was juicy and flavorful and bread was just the right crunch. Can't wait for my next sandwich craving so I can try their other sandwiches. Thanks Potato Chips Deli!

Timothy K.

Yelp
They were really busy and there was only one person working the register and she was working really hard to keep up but they were behind. She made it happen though. I had the caprese and it was delicious.

Alex J.

Yelp
Was adventurous and got the tuna sandwich, something I don't normally get. Safe to say it was the right choice, very much the most unique and delicious tuna sandwich I've had in my life! Everyone was very kind and the store had all sorts of different chips to choose from which was a plus. Can't recommend enough
google avatar

Jessica H.

Yelp
BLT BLT BLT this sandwich came as a recommendation from an employee and i'm so glad i decided to go with it! i'm a huge fan of ciabatta bread and was thrilled at how light and airy it was. they added plenty of bacon and avocado, and overall it was fresh and totally hit the spot. i agree that it's a bit pricy for what you get, but that honestly won't keep me from coming back for more!

Jamie V.

Yelp
I got the Caprese and added sopresetta which was an amazing combo - it was so good I already want to go back!
google avatar

Ed L.

Yelp
Turkey was amazing. The impossible meatball was good but something about it just felt a little more moist and wet vs juicy if you know what I mean. Would go again, but not get the impossible meatball. It was good, but for the price, not worth it.
google avatar

Daph H.

Yelp
To have a great sandwich, you have to start with the bread. At Potato Chips Deli, the ciabatta is definitely up to the task - sturdy enough to contain the ingredients without getting soggy, but just soft enough that your teeth don't fight with the bread with every bite. Potato Chips Deli opened last month for takeout and delivery, with some tables in front outside for dining. Sandwiches range in price from $12 - $14. The turkey sandwich with roasted turkey breast, tomato, lettuce, havarti, herb aioli and balsamic had the perfect ratio of meat, vegetables and condiments. Unlike the bread over at Bay Cities, the ciabatta here is easy to chew. The Caprese was loaded with fresh creamy burrata, basil, tomato, oil and vinegar - a refreshing sandwich on a hot summer's day. I wish that the sandwiches came with a pickle, or better yet, a side of potato chips (like their name might suggest), but I'm always looking for a bigger bang for my buck. If you want to add chips, they do have an extensive selection of Zapp's and Utz's Dirty Potato Chips from which to choose. Their motto says, "Life is short, have a sandwich!" With sandwiches this good, I'll have more than one. Metered street parking and one hour free parking in the Watseka public parking lot.
google avatar

Paulla L.

Yelp
I ordered the meatballs sandwich. The bread was fresh and the meatballs were a decent size. Overall my sandwich was delicious. The price was costly but worth the price.

Yelp
While I do appreciate a new deli shop in Culver City, which outside of Wise Brothers, it's sorely lacks. There are a few issues that bum me out about this place and it's potential. First is they raised their price recently and have not updated any of the menus to reflect this, even the digital menu is not updated. I get the price raise, because that seems to be happening all across Los Angeles whether we like it or not. However if you run a business you absolutely need to reflect the correct prices on your menu. There really isn't any excuse. Secondly, for the higher prices, they're absolutely needs to be more meat and cheese on the subs. My heart broke when labels deli closed, because I knew that for $15 I would get a sandwich full of meat or deli product. It's a unfortunate reality for deli shops in Los Angeles that many of them feel a minimal amount of product is justified if they come off as artisan. By the potato chip selection was great and served the restaurants title, the price again was too high for the amount of product in the bag. Those bags were hella up small for 2.50 each. The pros are the amazing bread which was a nice surprise, the ciabatta rocks. They have ample seating indoors and out. The service was just 'fine'.
google avatar

Jen T.

Yelp
Their sandwiches are pretty good! The veggie is simple, but the bread and sauce are tasty. The impossible meatball sandwich was kinda pricey but it was pretty good, too. Meatballs were nice and seasoned with herbs, bread was again a highlight. Would come back.
google avatar

Jose C.

Yelp
HOMI, what is up with this SOFT AF, WARM AF, FRESH AF, bread? But let me tell you, their pastrami was amazing. A little to heavy on the mustard for me, but I feel like if I ask for less I am going to come off as a poser, feel me? Let me tell you about this bread tho... wow. I picked up my sandwich in a doggie bag and when the pastrami mami put it in my hands it felt like she handed me a little pillow. BRUH, I am not exaggerating too. It was THAT soft. It was crazy, the fluffiest bread roll I have ever had. Can't wait to hit this place up again

Rebecca C.

Yelp
Just has a great italian sandwich from the Potatoe chip deli. Amazing. So yummy. And terrific chibata bread. Highly recommended
google avatar

Caitlin O.

Yelp
Pretty quiet mid day but the food comes quick. The veggie sandwich is a texture bomb- there's so much happening and it's all delicious. Interesting choice to use fennel and radishes, but it works really well and adds a little bite and crunch in contrast with cheese and aioli. The bread is excellent too. They have a small menu but high quality ingredients and flavor profiles. Will definitely make this a DTCC mainstay.
google avatar

Joey T.

Yelp
The bread is what makes the Potato Chips Deli sandwich. It feels unique and always the right level of fresh and fluffy. I like me the meatball because the balls are huge. Like the size that Miley may ride around on. The maranaia doesn't feel that special or unique, but the other aspects of the sandwich really carry it through.
google avatar

Adam O.

Yelp
The sandwiches are phenomenal, no question. A+. Went with my wife and daughter to Culver City location after I had a killer sandwich and experience at Westfield Century City. 3 sandwiches, 3 bags of chips, 3 sodas: $75. I'd definitely go back on my own, but $75 for 3 sandwiches (including a $17 BLT) is pretty outrageous.
