Potato Chips Deli Review - Century City - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"A sandwich is only as good as the bread it's on. So the simple fact that Potato Chips Deli in the Westfield mall uses really good ciabatta puts it ahead of most lunch places around Century City. Then, once you consider their pastrami with a thick rim of black pepper or the crunchy chicken milanese with spicy aioli, there's no contest between this place and any other sandwich shop in the area. Come on your lunch break or for a midday pick-me-up after scavenging the clearance section at Anthropologie." - Nikko Duren

Google
The best sandwich I’ve ever had. So random. Compelled to write a review. I got the pastrami one and I literally ate half of it before I could even write this review. The bread is soft and warm, I am wondering if they just made it today. Pastrami to mustard to bread ratio is divine.

Google
We came across this cute little sandwich hut years ago and since then I can’t even count all the times we stop in and either grab a sandwich for home or sit and enjoy the fresh air and eat outside. Every sandwich we have gotten from them has been amazing, the key here is their bread, you can tell it’s fresh and it makes the whole sandwich perfect, they also don’t skimp on the deli meat or toppings: highly recommend giving this spot a try!

Google
Chicken Milanese is really good. $20 dollars good? Without chips and a drink? Maybe. Just depends on who you’re asking. I personally wouldn’t come often, but I would def come back. That spicy aioli sauce made the sandwich better for sure! Overall, you won’t leave disappointed after eating here. Just be ready to over spend for a sandwich.

Eric

Google
Their Philly cheesesteak should be called a ground beef with cheese. Was definitely not a cheesesteak I’m sure their other sandwiches are good.

Google
The best and my personal favorite, go-to sandwich out of any place in Long Beach 🤤!! Highly recommend any sandwich but in particularly, the turkey & brio (3X tried & true) and the Italian (lovely combo of cold cuts + lettuce, tomato and relish). Pair it with the Zapps Voodoo chips or the similar brand? Idk everything’s great, just go! Sadly, no homemade potato chips are available 🥔

Google
Overall great sandwich, just not the best sandwich I've ever had. BUT I would definitely go here again. Got the pastrami sandwich. Meat was good, not too salty or greasy. Interesting touch with the use of relish, but it worked.

Google
The bread is great, the other toppings are sparse and to add anything is extra (mustard, mayo, etc) which is crazy since the prices are already $17 a sandwich. The cookies taste like grocery store bakery cookies, I was expecting much more! Our order was incorrect for pickup today, which was a bummer.

Google
I order "take out". Their outside dining is okay if you like that type of dining, and it's not raining. There is no indoor dining at the Long Beach location, where I patronize. I tried the Chicken Caesar Salad Sando today, and I like that one a lot(I had them add avocado on it) 👌🏼.

Yelp
The sandwiches are relatively small; however, they are delicious. The problem is the service. The girl named Santos was not very helpful. We were there wondering if it was open and she came 30 secs later to take our order. Once the order was done, the plastic small window was closed and I realized that I didn't get the receipt. So I turned around and asked for receipt. Her eyes rolled with a mean face while getting my receipt. This is not acceptable. I didn't react soon enough since she closed the small window fast. But I got her name and information on the receipt. It's a good way to send review. If she didn't want to work on a beautiful Saturday, I understand. However, she has no right to get it out on her customers.

Yelp
Love this quick little pick up spot for sandwiches on 2nd and PCH. The service is always fast and friendly. The tuna sandwich here has become my new favorite. It's so tasty with no mayo added, which is nice. They use balsamic vinegar and capers. Also like their selection of chips as well. If you are looking for a tasty sandwich, crux it out. And definitely try their tuna sandwich if you are a tuna melt lover. They can also toast the bread.

Yelp
Bland service, but the turkey sandwich was pretty flavorful! Whatever condiments they use really make the sandwich, because the meat and lettuce don't look like much. Also Idk what voodoo made me spend $20 on a sandwich with no accompaniments lol but the location is convenient if you're already at 2nd & PCH and the Sando came out quickly. Lil pep from the cashier would have made it better though.

Yelp
Tried this place today. Never usually in the LB area but came to eat here after visiting an antique mall. I got the Italian sandwich and it was good - classic vinegar and olive flavor. The service was okay, worker didn't really seem happy to be at work... which I get we all have bad days!!!! Location of the spot is great, it's in a big shopping mall plaza and parking is free for first 90 min, you can shop and eat around. Want to try a hot sandwich next time
google avatar

Melanie G.

Yelp
I got the caprese sandwich. The bread and veggies didn't seem to be too fresh and overall, there wasn't much flavor. The burrata was creamy and they didn't skimp on it; it was good. It wasn't too heavy on the balsamic, which I personally prefer. Part of why it may not have been the freshest was because I came close to closing.

Yelp
I like the sandwiches but not taking cash is a huge problem. Cash needs to be accepted as it's a form of money and no I do not wish to pay your credit card fee if you don't take cash.

Yelp
Details.. .. Came here for a quick solo lunch on a Wednesday around noon. .. Ordered the Brie Special (turkey, brie, caramelized onion, granny apple, aioli, arugula, olive oil, & balsamic vinegar). I asked for no balsamic. pros.. .. Service was quick & efficient. My order was taken right away & I was told it'd be about 7-10 minutes but I probably got my sandwich in 5 minutes. .. Plenty of well maintained seating. .. The bread was surprisingly delicious. It looks dense & carby, but is actually very light has a good crunch while still being soft on the inside. Most importantly, it didn't cut up my mouth! It also felt freshly toasted or baked. .. The turkey was good quality & I liked that the brie was slightly warmed. cOns.. .. Parking to get here is a bit of a pain, but the structures do offer 90 minutes free. .. Although I did like the individual ingredients, the sandwich as a whole was lacking for the price. It was pretty bland & underwhelming.

Yelp
This stand is located in the 2nd & PCH complex (free parking for 90 minutes). I came here for a late lunch recently. The woman working here was very bubbly and friendly. I ordered a pastrami sandwich and a bottle of Coke then took a seat in the patio area (there is no indoor seating). Five minutes later my sandwich was brought to the table I was sitting at. The bread was fresh, the pastrami very tender and tasty. The pastrami is from Russak's, the same provider of pastrami to Langer's, so you know it's top quality. The swiss cheese, mustard, and relish all added to the overall "wow factor" of this sandwich. The pickle relish allowed that pickle flavor to be present in every bite. Prices were on the high side (I'm sure their lease is expensive in this complex). Note: the menu photos - as are most all menu photos on Yelp - don't show accurate pricing; prices go up over time especially during a recession.

Yelp
This little deli is located in the outside mall on 2nd and PCH. Never even knew it existed until today. Parking is inside the mall area. It's 90 minutes free and I believe like $2 per 20mins or so after that. It was my birthday weekend and I wanted to try a new place for lunch. My wife and I ordered 2 sandwiches, one Italian and the other was a special of the day, I can't recall the name but it had turkey, apple and brie and it was AMAZING! The you girl at the counter was very helpful, she highly recommended to get the sandwiches with the pickle relish and hots. She was right, it really made the sandwiches even tastier. The area in which they are located is dog friendly, we saw more dogs here than at then local dog park. You can also pick.a seat and oder from the table, they will bring it right out to you.

Yelp
$16 Thinnest pastrami sandwich I've ever seen. The service was ok. Nothing notable one way or the other, but I think they were going to be closing in an hour so could have been focused on prep. The bread was easily the best part. Thin with a sort of crispy crust, but light and airy. Really good! I like more mustard than most on a pastrami... usually. The mustard was good, but it over-powered the sandwich. That's because of my point... there's barely any pastrami compared to what you get just about anywhere at that price point. Long story short. It's a $10-$11 sandwich for $16. Either add more pastrami, which is my preference, or cut the price. Good luck

Yelp
Great turkey sandwich. We split it and two bags of chips. Great service- they delivered or food to Beachwood brewery next door. Fun to sit outside & people watch while eating our lunch & having a beer.
google avatar

Yelp
The sandwiches are good and I like that they keep adding new ones to keep it interesting. The bread is amazing and fresh just wish there was less flour on them. I have to dust my dining room table after eating on of these sandwiches. My only complaint is that the chicken is pounded so flat there is barely anything left.
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped by here and picked up a pastrami sandwich $14.99 and a bag of jalapeños chips $2.99. Sandwich was really good. The bread was soft and fresh. Waited about less than 10 mins and got my order. Friendly service. There are many outdoor tables if you want to eat there. Definitely will come back to try their other sandwiches.

Yelp
Saw this place while walking around the 2nd and Pch outdoor mall area and I am a sucker for a great sandwich and my go to is roast beef. What scares me is when the horseradish is strong so I asked the girl taking the order how it was and I appreciate her honesty on say sue didn't know lol so I said can I just get Mayo then? Sure she said Service was very quick and the sandwich was simple but very tasty! It has quality ingredients and I guess because of that the price was well pricey and the size wasn't no footlong either but I knew what I was getting into and I will not ding them for That

Yelp
When I saw the bread used is focaccia, I ALMOST did not order. That would have been a mistake. For me, focaccia is hit or miss, mostly miss, frequently stale or hard to bite into: not here! The bread is lightly toasted, fresh and absolutely delicious. The sandwiches I ordered (tuna and Italian) were incredibly flavorful, one of the best tuna and Italian sandwiches I've ever had. So why 4 stars? Because I ordered online for pickup (easy and was ready for pickup within 15 minutes) and added pickles to the tuna: 50 cent charge. They forgot the pickles. This defeats one of the major reason I order online: there is no confusion as to WHAT I ordered. But when I am charged (yes, it's only 50 cents the pickles, but still, I tipped $10 cash on my order in anticipation of these delicious things) extra and do not receive what I ordered, well that's a "I'm not coming back here" from me. However, this place was so good, I will be back.

Yelp
ADDED: I pride myself on giving honest feedback and my opinion on Yelp. I think that's what makes a true yelp ELITE. The lack of professionalism in the owners response is reason enough to not return. I am not the only one he has responded to in a smart way. Take criticism and make a opportunity to change. Also please see attached for the proof that the menu does not state this. Thank you Yelp for giving me a voice to help my community. ------------------------------------------------------ I was excited to try this place as the reviewers lead me to believe it was delicious... but it was not... in fact it was the worst tuna sandwich I've ever tasted. I tried to give benefit of doubt but my mother too agreed. For $18, yes, $18 I received a sandwich and bag of chips. The price threw me off but I thought the quality would make up for it. I was greeted by a less than welcoming lady. Wasn't great but wasn't horrible Now on to this sandwich. The best part was the bread. But the tuna was atrocious. First who puts capers in tuna?! And they were plentiful. Looking past that I don't see how a sandwich could be so flavorless and nasty. I tested adding condiments to cover the taste but nothing worked. So I'm the trash it went. Was so disappointed. That was definitely money down the drain.

Yelp
I'd been waiting to try this place for about a month. Every time I was near, I was never close enough. Today, today I am glad that I stopped by to visit Arcelia and the crew. This sandwich was everything that I hoped it would be. The bread was perfectly crisp on the outside yet soft on the inside. I was more than satisfied with the amount of meat, veggies, and condiments on the sandwich. The flavor was on point in less than seven minutes!!! Arcelia said my order would be ready in seven minutes and handed it to me in five, WOW!!!! I can't wait to try more from these folks

Yelp
Best Turkey Sandwich EVER! I am serious...the bread is fresh, soft, and toasty. The Herb aioli is so flavorful. The turkey was the right amount....It is a perfect sandwich. Yes, the Italian was great too but the turkey sandwich blew us away!
google avatar

Victoria A.

Yelp
Delicious, quality sandwiches!!! The bread is so fresh, the flour sprinkled makes me so happy because I know the bread is fresh! Sauces and toppings available as well
google avatar

Cindy P.

Yelp
This place was so delicious! The service was great and quick. I ordered the chicken Milanese & tuna. The garli. Aioli in the chicken Milanese was AMAZING. The tuna had a nice surprise with capers (I was very excited). The ciabatta bread was honestly my favorite part. It was nice and airy and chewy but had a great crunch to its exterior. It's right in the center of 2nd & PCH with cute tables and chairs surrounding it. You could also take it anywhere around 2nd & PCH and enjoy. Can't wait to go back and try other sandwiches!
google avatar

Denise V.

Yelp
Wow! The bread is like a ciabatta light and airy cross bred with an English muffin and croissant mix. It's so light and crispy with a crunch and flavorful. The Italian was delicious. My husband and I shared it and we devoured it. The pickle, hots, tomato, red onion olive oil and red wind mixture was perfect!! Kinda like a muffuletta mix. We want to come back here for dinner. We got the zaps chips and topo Chico water!! I'll be back soon.

Barbara S.

Yelp
I would give 4.5 stars if it were available. Actually a very good find near the Marina. Small shop in the center of the shopping center. Sandwiches are very tasty. They have daily special sandwiches not on the internet menu. Kettle chips in a variety of flavors as the side Cost--a little higher price than what I would like to pay for a sandwich but, considering where they are located, it is probably the norm. Good choice of beverages Adequate seating available whenever I have been there. Sandwich is ready within a reasonable wait time.

Matt H.

Yelp
Possibly the best sandwich shop in So Cal. I drive 20 min each way get a sandwich from here. No joke.
google avatar

Erin B.

Yelp
I've gotten take out from here twice. Got the turkey sandwich both times. If you're craving a delicious sandwich, this is the spot! The bread and the herb aioli make it a stand out. Bread is soft but hearty enough to support the sandwich. Generous portion of turkey meat and a decent size sandwich. I'll definitely order again--the only question is, will I venture away from the turkey to try something else?
google avatar

T E.

Yelp
This place has fresh ingredients, great bread, and sandwiches are made with care. They have so many choices to choose from it's really difficult to narrow it down! But it was so good, we ordered them twice in two days because we couldn't get enough. Will definitely be back!

Hailee G.

Yelp
Rude not good customer service the girl that helped us just threw the sandwiches on the counter and walked away
google avatar

Jodie H.

Yelp
If it weren't for the great company I met, I wouldn't give this place a 3. I had the roast beef and will say the bread was good. But the sandwich as a whole was dry and tasteless. I'm always a sucker for horseradish (sauce, cream) but I think they forgot it. For $15, it was just a very lackluster sandwich. There are too many great sandwich shops (Beach City Deli comes to mind) to repeat this experience. And just FYI, you pay extra for the "Potato Chips".
google avatar

Steve R.

Yelp
Had the Italian sandwich on my first visit here with a bag of BBQ chips. The sandwich was very good, and it had a little heat with some of the 'hots' included. The bread had a nice crunch, and I would like to try their turkey sandwich next.
google avatar

Annie B.

Yelp
Thanks Daisy for being so helpful, with my order today. The sandwich was yummy I tried the #italian on #ciabattabread I love this place. He sandwiches are pretty big so will save the other half for dinner. It's always a plus for me if you have snapple & #dirtystylechips. I will definitely return very soon.....
google avatar

Yelp
I've been craving a turkey sandwich this whole week , so I finally gave into this place. And omg it was so delicious I finished this in like less than 10 min .. I give this place a 9/10. I'll definitely come back & try their other sandwiches
google avatar

Clare C.

Yelp
My dog and I love to share a good drippy meatball sandwich after our 6 mile Naples walk. The balls were juicy well seasoned and huge. Other than the melty provolone &gooey marinara, THE BREAD was the highlight of the show. Crispy flaky and thin enough to not outshine the meatballs but sturdy enough to hold everything together without making a huge mess. Would I pay $15 again for a meatball sandwich?? Anything is possible when you're delirious after walking 6 miles in the summer. I only needed half the sandwich to feel stuffed so I'd say portion is big. Don't get your hopes up like me--potato chips NOT included.
google avatar

Erma B.

Yelp
I'll admit- the place makes a good sandwich. They use bread that you can sink your teeth into; it's so soft! I went with a friend and we purposely got different sandwiches so that we can split them up. I got the turkey, and she got the Italian. You can't go wrong with either of them . The aioli in the turkey is where it's at. And the Italian has a nice vinaigrette flavor with a relish that's a real crowd pleaser. The price is pretty steep at $13.50+, especially with no deli pickle and NO CHIPS on the side. (Why the hell are you called Potato Chips Deli?) I've had better, but I won't take away that you do get a good, solid sandwich. My issue is a small, petty one... it's the name. Potato Chips Deli would suggest that it's probably the "31 Flavors" of potato chips. Even the website has a backdrop image of a wide variety of chips. Which is why to my disappointment, they only give you like 4 or 5 choices. I am a potato chip monster, so I was kinda like... OH. It's all outdoor seating in the lovely 2nd and PCH Shopping Center. So if it's cold, rainy, or windy- plan accordingly. FYI- they don't validate, so keep that in mind if you plan on working remotely or lounging for longer than the complimentary 90 minutes. You'll need to hit up Whole Foods to get your validation stamp.

Yelp
Decided to try this place today with my family. I ordered the Turkey sandwich with a Snapple. The order was made pretty quickly for a busy Sunday. This was actually one of the best sandwiches I've had. Everything tasted really fresh and yummy. I tried the sandwiches that my family got and those were also sooo good. I'm so glad I ate here and I can't wait to come back and try the chicken milanese.
google avatar

Christina K.

Yelp
I wish I took pictures of my delightful sandwich. This was a gem of a find. The Italian sandwich will put a smile on your face due to the explosion of flavors in you mouth. Great sandwich.

Lora S.

Yelp
Great sandwiches. The artisan bread used really adds to the deliciousness. Service was quick and easy. Outside seating only. The area was very tidy. Nice experience!
google avatar

Jon D.

Yelp
Best sammies in LB. Italian, Tuna, Turkey all lights out. And super sweet lady behind the counter. Thank you!
google avatar

Daniel C.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I were walking around 2nd & PCH and I stumbled upon this place. I've been seeing a lot of recipe videos for Italian sandwiches and it made me crave one so of course I had to order it. The Italian has the usual fixings with the meats such as salami, capicola, finocchiona salami, and mortadella and the crunchy delicious veggies and seasonings. Their hours are weird and close really early so if you're able to get there on time enjoy a sandwich! I'm definitely going to try and get another one next time I'm in the area.
google avatar

John H.

Yelp
Took off one star for no utensils. I mean, seriously. What restaurant has no utensils? Spreading mayo on my sandwich with my finger was novel at least. Sandwiches were good. Quality meats and bread but a little lackluster overall. Not disappointed but I won't go out of my way to come here again. Stop for a quick bite while shopping here? Yes.

Yelp
So happy that Potato Chips has expanded to open two additional locations. I frequented the Beverly Grove location for years after discovering this cute little joint that served amazing sandwiches on the best sandwich bread I've ever had. It's light, soft, fluffy, and chewy. It's floury on the outside. It's reminiscent of the best pizza crust you've ever had. Hard to describe. You can't go wrong with any of the sandwiches, but don't miss the tuna if you are into that. Just amazing. I discovered my new location here in Long Beach today (we moved away from Weho and haven't made it back in forever). I'm happy to say this location serves 'em up just like the original and maybe even slightly better. I hadn't had the chicken Milanese, but it's now my favorite I've had there. Highly recommend and hope everyone tries it out! Shout out to Arcelia for taking care of us. Best customer service ever and made us feel at home. We'll come back and see you soon!

Jaushay R.

Yelp
I haven't been to this place a lot, this was actually my 2nd time, their food is delicious but the customer service I experienced yesterday was displeasing. And it might have been because I'm a 6'5 Blackman. As I picked my order up, I seen the young lady working. Giving everybody bags to go even if they were dining in. When it got to me. She hands me my sandwiches in my hand with my bags of chips. I immediately as for a bag and she hands it to me while facing away from me.

R E.

Yelp
I think I came on a bad day. I got the Italian and the bread was stale and chewy. Not pleasant. The meats and cheese were nothing special. I was expecting a more tightly packed sandwich and this looked just thrown together. It was falling apart. On the plus side their chips are delicious. Won't buy their sandwiches again, but I will get the chips.
google avatar

Jessica H.

Yelp
I originally saw a picture of their sandwiches on instagram! Book marked the location in LA and added it to my when in LA list. And when they opened a location in Long Beach I knew I had to try it! The girl working there was super helpful and friendly! And the sandwich I had was just pure chef kisses! The Turkey was fresh and a huge amount. The bread was crunchy yet soft and perfection. And the Brie with the sandwich was just outstanding. Please move this to the permanent item side of the menu!

Yelp
Truly enjoyed our sandwiches. Bread was fresh and very soft. I had the hot pastrami, plenty of meat cheese and mustard, excellent. My friend had the impossible meat-ball, also excellent. Reminded her of meatball sandwiches her Italian Mom would make for her when she packed up for the beach. Service was great. PCH & 2nd is a very casual but fun place to go. There is plenty of outdoor seating around. The parking structure - first 90 minutes is free and that was more than ample time to make a quick Sephora run before, Whole Foods run after, and enjoy lunch. Park near the Whole Foods side. You will find the Deli in the center area (near the roller rink, that I didn't even know what there!).

Tatiana V.

Yelp
We came here while Christmas shopping , and we were so impressed with these sandwiches! They were incredible, the bread was so light and airy , the veggies were so fresh , and over all the sandwiches were delicious . We tried the italian , the chicken milanese , and the chicken parm . Definitely worth stopping by for a quality sandwich! Cant wait to try the others

J O.

Yelp
My husband and I came here for my birthday lunch today. I rarely order sandwiches for lunch as they are usually made with too much heavy bread and too little filling. However, after reading the rave reviews and looking at the pictures of various sandwiches, I decided to take a chance and ordered the Veggie sandwich. It was sheer perfection - from the soft, perfect amount of bread to the delicious veggie filling. I did take a bite of my husband's Turkey sandwich which was pronounced equally delicious. Both of our sandwiches exhibited fresh, high-quality ingredients. We enjoyed sitting outside at the tables provided. I didn't get the name of the person who took our order, but she was very friendly and displayed exemplary customer service. We look forward to returning soon.

Shelby F.

Yelp
I have attempted to try this place twice now. The first time I came around 4:45 and they said they were closed. Second time the guy told me to come before 5 to order, get there at 4:45 and told they were closed. Rude and unfriendly staff and if you're advertised to be open until 5, stay open. I think I'll just eat at other places that are more dependable and actually stay open.

Yelp
I love this place. The portions are great and the Italian and pastrami subs are amazing! Highly recommend and I wish more people talked about this place!

Yelp
I kept seeing this on TikTok with rave reviews so when I discovered there was one in Long Beach, I had to give it a try. And wow, was I not disappointed. Most of what's being said here is absolutely the truth. Fresh ingredients, thoughtfully made, and the bread is utterly amazing. Like, fresh European bakery good bread. Dramatically better than most generic deli bread. And most importantly, you can really taste each layer from the cheese to the dressings. It's a little pricey, but I honestly didn't mind for quality this good. Can't wait to go back and try something else (had the turkey today, but so many look good).
