Food was fine. I love the Potbelly chain and their sandwiches. But, let's talk about the service.
TLDR: If you are in a rush, do not come here. If you have time to kill, you will be fine.
Service actually moves in S L O W M O T I O N. I arrived in line with about 8 heads in front of me. When the line hadn't made any progress for a while, I figured that there was a slow customer holding things up, as Potbelly is usually very fast. BUT, I had nothing better to do, so I began timing how long it took for customers to pass the first station.
After the glacial speed first customer, the second one got thru in less than a minute. This gave me optimism, however the next customer took nearly 3 minutes to get past. The next couple before me actually got thru in under a minute as well.
When I was up to bat, the first guy in the assembly line had to change gloves. Okay, fine. I watched as he tried to put a new glove on in actual slow motion. This may have taken 45 seconds.
I ordered the "big turkey on wheat with Swiss."
"What kind of bread do you want?"
"Wheat"
The guy proceeded to slowly weigh out the meat. I'm not sure if this is a new corporate policy or franchise specific, but I've never seen that before @ PB.
After 2.6 minutes (wow), I moved along to let the next person order. Next up was toppings!
I watched as the toppings girl languidly put together the several sandwiches ahead of mine. I kept my impatience to myself... or maybe it was amazement. I continued to time people behind me in line - I had nothing better to do.
The rest was a blur, I ordered my toppings, paid, and waited the next eternity for her to finish my sandwich. At roughly 21 minutes of waiting, I had my sandwich in hand and scuttled off to my gate.
Word to the franchise owner: you need to train your people better. Most other PBs could clear the line I was in in less than half the time. You certainly are not understaffed.
