My favorite of all is the wreck sandwich! Clean location and super nice staff. I as asked if I need a bag and he even took time to pack the stuff for me, I appreciate the extra care and help. Location is easy to access but sometimes you need to allow more time to find parking in garage.

Google
This Potbelly is awesome. Customer service is great! Victor and the rest of the staff are very friendly and will go above and beyond to ensure that customers are satisfied with their meal and the service they receive.

Google
i love this place! food was good, place was great. loved the vibes and ambiance of it. employees were friendly and helpful. loved the vanilla milkshake!

Google
My family and I stumbled upon this place today. Since I've never eaten there before, I grabbed a menu and tried to figure out how to order. I let the girl at the counter know it was my first time. She along with the rest of the staff was so patient and welcoming. The best part was the food. My family loved it, and the prices were reasonable. I also love the quirky decor

Google
I ordered a Biggie Chicken Salad on Multigrain with lettuce and onion from GrubHub. I received a sandwich with nothing but lettuce and onions after waiting over an hour. Terrible.

Google
I ordered a sandwich and a drink for delivery. They didn't have the drink I paid for. Instead of contacting me to see how they could make it right. They shoved their cheapest bottled water in my bag. Wrote that they were out of my drink on the receipt and that was that. When I tried calling them several times to discuss the issue no one answered the phone. As a former manager of a sandwich shop similar to this one. I am appalled this is not how you do business. My name & number was on the receipt. You call your customers to ask how they would like to proceed. Either offer another drink of equal value or offer to refund the cost of the item. You do not substitute it with a product that costs a dollar less. Really upsets me, as I order from here fairly regularly.

Google
Employees are wonderful, food and service is great! I will return!

Google
The people at Potbelly are wonderful. HOWEVER, Door Dash handles the deliveries, and they are horrible. It's entirely possible for them to be 1-2 hours past their delivery time. I received a text from Door Dash saying my delivery was running late and would be at 8:33. The text timestamp was at 9:02. It's not an isolated case, and the driver didn't actually arrive until 9:20. I had already cancelled the order, no idea what they did with the food. They marked the order as delivered.

Steven T.

Yelp
#1 My online order wasn't ready when stated it would be. #2 My order wasn't correct, they missed several toppings on both subs #3 Subw@y has more meat on their subs at half the price. Literally about 1/8 of an inch of meat total. #4 The staff didn't even say one word to me during my visit, just looked at me like What do you want... 05/08/25 Silver Spring Md I'm not gonna pay my hard earned money for this mediocre quality. You guessed it, I won't be back...
google avatar

Joshua D.

Yelp
Pretty standard Potbelly. But I did feel like the staff were a little rude and ignored me entirely as I stood right in front of them as the only customer in line for about 6-7 minutes. Food was good, checkout lady was lovely.

Yelp
Great food. Delivery. Great service. Ordered the Roast Beef, Salad, side of the "Pot Pie" Soup. Delicious. Definitely recommend.

Tracy S.

Yelp
Their delivery is the absolute best! Quick, efficient, and the food was still warm. Food is always fresh, and delicious. I've not been to the brick and mortar, so can't speak to the ambiance.

Yelp
The decor was so cozy, and the employees were so nice. The food was great. Highly recommend. -written by my 10 year old, who was very pleased

Yelp
My favorite lunch place in DTSS. Consistently friendly staff that recognizes you and makes polite conversation. They even remembered my order when I came back!
google avatar

Jethro B.

Yelp
Nice for a chain restaurant. Had a ham and Swiss on a multigrain roll, and an Honest Tea for around $12 plus tip. Pleasant staff, and comfortable seating.
google avatar

Sophia C.

Yelp
The coffee milkshake was yummy. The sandwich didn't have enough onions, enough horseradish aioli . It was a letdown

Yelp
This potbelly sandwich shop is very customer oriented and the sandwiches are always awesome! Potbelly's is my "treat yourself" spot in downtown Silver Spring; I've always been happy with the sandwiches. It was my first time going to Potbelly's since the start of the pandemic and I wanted the pizza sandwich without the meat - I know it makes no sense but I like the marinara sauce! Anyway, it's so hard to talk through a mask because we all sound a bit muffled so I probably did not communicate well to the sandwich maker. When I returned to the office, I saw that there was meat in the sandwich so I thought to myself "okay I should just go back and ask for another one," despite feeling like a jerk. I was in line for another sandwich when the manager approached me and asked if something is wrong with my sandwich. I told him I don't eat meat and that I will get something vegetarian from the menu but he insisted on replicating my order. He wrote the details down and had it ready in about five minutes and I was good to go. The kindest part was they he me to give the other sandwich to someone that will eat it. That means my boyfriend has dinner tonight! I really appreciate everyone's quick efforts and for making me a yummy sandwich that I ate in three minutes (too quickly to take a picture and post it here).

Bernie B.

Yelp
It's always consistent and good. Wish they sold the ranch dressing in stores. Great location and convenience

Jimmy E.

Yelp
I still theoretically like the sandwiches, and the services is good and the location is clean. This is a fine Potbelly location on paper... The problem is that Potbelly has made severe cutbacks and is trying to hide this. They've upped the prices by at least 1/4 if not 1/3, but also severely cut back on the meat. It was genuinely pathetic. I don't know if this was a corporate mandate or if it's this location. They also eliminated the "Extra Meat" option from the menu and no longer list the price(s) for "Double Meat." I can't necessarily blame this particular location for this, though the near complete lack of meat on my sandwich is a new one. I know places are cutting back but this is insidious.

Jamal L.

Yelp
Less then a 3 star but more then 2. Literally never get online orders right. Potbelly franchise is good itself but this is a pretty disappointing spot
google avatar

Tara L.

Yelp
Great location in downtown Silver Spring - excellent service, plenty of dining space. The food was as delicious as usual, but I was truly impressed by the 5-star service that I received. Everyone was extremely attentive, courteous, polite and thorough. By far, one of my favorite Potbelly locations by far!

Haron T.

Yelp
Food never ready on time even when ordered ahead of time. incompetent service. If I do say so myself! I would not recommend you guys go waste your money, and time here please I urge you

Kaden M.

Yelp
my sandwich was okay,my fiancée sandwich was wrong. was glad they gave me a coke for the açaí not being in stock
google avatar

Tatjana J.

Yelp
My sandwich was so good and the staff were friendly and accommodating because I honestly walked in and didn't know what I wanted because it had been awhile since I have been to potbelly my turkey sandwich was so good and hit the spot.
google avatar

Alexis C.

Yelp
I ordered the sandwich and soup combo via door dash and everything was great including the packaging. I ordered the wreck sub and it was phenomenal, the bread was toasted just right, the vegetables were fresh and crunchy, the oil and Italian seasoning sealed the deal. The chicken pot pie soup was was so delicious "my taste buds are literally going wild just typing this review" and the pot pie topping was buttery with just the right amount of crisp .
google avatar

Maggie T.

Yelp
I've tried ordering from this place twice now and twice they have not gotten the order right but consistently charge me for the extras I ask for but never receive. So frustrating. Also the prices seem ridiculous for the portions but I know this is a corporate decision on not in the store itself.
google avatar

Willmer R.

Yelp
Potbelly is one of my favorite sandwich chains the the DMV.Iv been going for years and I'm happy they now offer larger sized for the sandwiches(used to have to get two smalls). I get the wreck but if you love PB&J or Turkey and Cheese I can verify those are both great meals as well. They have delicious desserts such as cookies and ice cream and they also offer soup to go along with your sandwiches. Get the VooDoo chips! They're crispy and not as spicy as the label implies.
google avatar

Libby F.

Yelp
I believe I am in the minority here for giving Potbelly's only three stars and not four or five. It is just that I wasn't impressed. It was just a sandwich, plain and simple. Maybe I'm not the best person to judge since I don't eat meat. I had the Veggie sandwich. Three cheeses and sliced button mushrooms on warm baked bread. It sounds better than it was. I love melted cheese, but I think using portabello mushroom slices would have made it more substantial. I am not a big fan of raw mushrooms either. I saw someone eating soup that looked good. If I wasn't doing take out I might have given that a try. Others were enjoying Potbelly's shakes. Then of course, there is always their oatmeal chocolate chip cookies that I have heard so many Yelpers rave about. Maybe next time!
google avatar

Brian R.

Yelp
These guys are doing great through Covid. Everyone is taking the virus seriously and wearing masks and the food is still on point. Super happy to come here whenever I'm hungry on the weekends.

Yelp
This Potbelly Sandwich Shop is located on Ellsworth, the main strip of shops close to the mall. There are several parking garages nearby as well as limited street parking. There is plenty of seating and they have live music performed from time to time. I usually order the Skinny T-K-Y with a side of potato salad. The T-K-Y comes with turkey breast and swiss cheese on your choice of bread (I always select multigrain) and your choice of toppings (I go with avocado and hot peppers). Staff have always been pleasant and polite each visit I have had here, so no complaints. If you are in Downtown Silver Spring and craving deli style food (sandwiches, soups, salads) then I would recommend Potbelly. Their menu is reasonably priced and if you like the chain, all the food here that I have ordered is comparable to other locations :)

Shayron B.

Yelp
Sucked. Order was wrong and super stingy on avocado (see pic). Took forever to deliver through Uber eats

Yelp
It truly pains me but this place has gone downhill. Potbellies has been my favorite sandwich place for the past 15 years and it's always my first stop after arriving at a city with one. This trip though, it killed it. Can't believe how quickly it went south after the IPO. I phoned and ordered 3 Wrecks on my way over that took 4 phone calls. When we got there to pick them up, it wasn't ready for 10 minutes!! When we opened them up at home, they got the orders all wrong. I've never had bad Wrecks before. Very disheartening. Night and day difference from the original Potbellies in Chicago. It's no good now.
google avatar

Natasha C.

Yelp
I like this place. It's amazing. It reminds me of restaurants in my hometown area. I especially like that they had vast vegetarian options. I chose to the Mushroom Melt twice. I was in the area for almost a week and I ate here twice. The first time I had the food delivered to the hotel because they hotel room service options were blah. The restaurant has a different soup each day and I enjoyed the Garden Vegetable and Spicy Black Bean. The delivery was quick and mainly because they were around the corner, but it was cold and I wasn't leaving the hotel. The second time the weather was way warmer and I sat outside. The outdoor area had tables and umbrellas. Also, they had a chess set, which was getting a lot of action from customers. Potbelly Sandwich Shop is one of my new favorites.
google avatar

Mark G.

Yelp
When I ate here it was one of the best sandwich chains that I have tried. Which Wich and PotBelly are my two favorites. They have such delicious sandwiches with quality ingredients with much less of a processed taste. The bread is made very well, loved it. THEY HAVE SWISS CHEESE! I had to write it in all caps, because some places don't have it, never know why they wouldn't. As some reviews say, get the hot peppers to give it that delicious spice punch. When your done, please go get a cookie :)
google avatar

Nomin D.

Yelp
I'm merely giving 2 stars because I liked the food. And taking off 3 stars because of the unfriendly associates that they employ. As we approached the ordering section, the associate didn't even greet us. She just asked "what you want today?" When we ordered, we asked for cheese and onions on our chili soup. The cashier just poured chili and put it on our tray. When I asked for cheese and onions, she seemed bothered and mumbled in her mouth and took away our chili to put cheese and ONION. when she came back, she only put cheese in there. Ymmmm I asked if its ok to get onion too! And she was more bothered so I told her don't worry about it. Tables are always so dirty that we have to clean it on our own before sitting. It seems like they never clean the tables after people.
google avatar

Mark S.

Yelp
Great location in downtown Silver Spring. I really enjoy their salads lol. I might get one today actually now that I think about how good they are. Uptown salad please! There is always a line, but it moves pretty fast. Also there's plenty of seating. Staff is friendly as well.
google avatar

Terinee B.

Yelp
Maaaaaaaannnnnnn... I just CANNOT get enough of Potbellies!!! I am so stuck on their roast beef sandwich & the macaroni salad!!! This place never disappoints, as it is a great place for good tastin', quick grub!
google avatar

Yelp
I ordered a sandwich at this place. The manager at this location on 1/8/2020 hangup on me twice. And said he cannot help me. First off they sent me the wrong order. I dont appreciate the rudeness of the manager at the ellsworth location in silver spring l, Md. i deserve a respect since i am a payimg customer and since im a paying customer i should get what i ordered. I will report this incedent to corporate because as a paying customer i deserve some respect. The delivery was late i was patient enough to be understanding. But not getting what i ordered and took my money is like stealing. OVER ALL BAD EXPERIENCE WITH THE MANAGER ON SCHEDULE AT 1/8/2020 2030hrs.
google avatar

Cynthia L.

Yelp
The sandwich's are good but the smoothie's taste more like a shake than a smoothie...didn't really like the smoothie. Overall the service was good & speedy. I ordered thru Yelp and it was ready in 15 min. like the app said.

Danielle N.

Yelp
My first time at a Potbelly location and I loved it! The sandwiches were delicious and all of the employees were extremely nice and helpful. I'm not from the area but if I ever return, I'd definitely come to this place again.
google avatar

Jacqueline D.

Yelp
Standard Potbelly menu but what stands out here is the polite and smiling service one gets. Keep up the good work.
google avatar

Destiny R.

Yelp
I like Potbelly's. They are efficient and they have great tomato soup. I have had their turkey on the skinny bread with extra lettuce. I may return here today for lunch because of how quick I got in and out last time. There is almost always a line and customers loop inside and past the drink cooler with has Pellegrino sodas and Perrier. Their cookies are as large as my palm and look quite appetizing. I plan to go back soon.
google avatar

Matt W.

Yelp
Mac n cheese was unbelievable! Very creamy and well cooked, best thing on menu. The hot peppers were delicious. The Italian sandwich was good but tastes like Jersey Mikes, typical kinda place. The potbelly vinaigrette was eh, bleh, too sweet. The Mediterranean sammy was good but I needed more filling. Bread was good though and nice and goid service. Cozy booths. If I am in the mood for Jersey Mikes and Jersey Mikes aint around and this place is, Id come back. Id come back for the mac n chesse anyways. Better than subway though.
google avatar

Emily R.

Yelp
A few updates: 1. No soda fountain! Which I find strange because other Potbelly's have this... Canned/bottled sodas are available. Or ask for a cup of ice water. 2. The soups change almost daily, but they always have the garden vegetable and chili available. Loaded baked potato soup is quite delish. 3. You have to pay for bread on the side with your soup. But have no fear - it's just 99 cents.
google avatar

Thomas W.

Yelp
Damn you Potbelly's Hot Peppers!!!! Why must you be so tasty and yet so spicy that I am forced to buy to Sodas just to get through the damn sandwich??!!? Everything is good here. I mean, you can even get a PB+J if you want. Rock! Plus sometimes they have this guy playing bad acoustic covers and while he isn't really great, he does serve as a great distraction. I don't know that I can ever give 5 stars to a chain sandwich place, but this certainly comes the closest.
google avatar

Brian B.

Yelp
The good news is: the staff seem to enjoy each other. They appear to genuinely enjoy talking with each other about the smaller things in life (not just work). Sadly for you the customer this means you may go unnoticed. Beware... you may encounter additional delay once you start ordering. Apparently the owner/manager (?) thinks nothing of stepping in front of a customer to shoot the breeze about the day or even weekend plans. He likes to yell across the dining room too which is mostly empty because people tend to not sit down if no one is fixing them their food. You might decide to sit in the restaurant and watch the staff bond! Hey... I get it... this is a Potbelly. You should not have high expectations. But the clowns working at location should probably not be in customer service. There are alot of choices near this place. Trust me. Pick something else
google avatar

Cindy G.

Yelp
Being a picky vegetarian who doesn't eat much spice or variety of sandwiches or even vegetables makes it hard to rave about a sandwich shop.... however, the Mediterranean sandwich is delicious, and Potbelly milkshakes/smoothies are the most amazing cold drinks you'll ever have, so sweet you'll wish they could last forever. If you want to become more community-oriented this is a great place to eat seeing as it not only holds a community bulletin board, but hosts open-mic nights, and occasionally donates percentages of sales to local businesses such as Lumina Studio Theatre.
google avatar

Raven M.

Yelp
ALMOST gave it one star, but am going with two because despite how painful the experience is every time, I still go back every week, I like their sandwiches and love the cookies. You would think a simple sandwich order is hard to ruin.....and if you think that you are wrong. I always order the same thing, and without fail, every week, they get the toppings wrong OR take forever to acknowledge my presence and take my order. About half the time the employees here are joking with each other which is why they have to re-make the sandwich. Ah well, like I said, the minus-3 stars are for poor service alone. Those sugar cookies and oatmeal chocolate cookies are my life. If you go, I hope you have some patience.
google avatar

Vicki B.

Yelp
This was my first time at this chain, which seems to be prevalent throughout DC. In Silver Spring, close to College Park, it seems to be favorited by a lot of UMD students, making it a very clique-y hangout for college kids, but also had some families as well. I honestly don't know the difference between Potbelly, Quizno's, and Subway, except I guess Potbelly is trying to be a little more upscale while still maintaining a casual atmosphere. I had the Turkey and Swiss, which they toast in an oven similar to Quizno's and have the same offering of chips, etc to go with your meal. My sandwich was pretty good, but as Libby above says, "It's just a sandwich." It wasn't anything spectacular, but is a nice place to hang out if you are looking for a casual atmosphere to eat in. Other choices include Italian, Veggie, all the regular sandwich fare, but they also have Potbelly Ice Cream, which I have yet to try.
google avatar

Mike D.

Yelp
Service and food is never consistent. Some days their service is awesome and other days it is just horrible, same goes for the food. One shouldn't have to hope they would get lucky and get what they pay for. This is probably the last time I will visit this particular location. There are many choices go elsewhere.
google avatar

Laura M.

Yelp
I'm not one for chain-sandwich places. I'm a Jersey girl where family-owned delis are on every street corner. I grew up with fresh sandwiches made from guys who learned the craft from their fathers and the fathers before them. But I've gotta admit, the owner of the Potbelly franchise must have grown up in a deli or at least appreciated them before taking on the task of creating a reputable chain of sandwich restaurants. The aura of all Potbelly restaurants is down-home American and old-fashioned, and classy in it's own way. From the wall decor to the hand-chalked menus, Potbelly knows how to make you feel like you're in that quaint corner deli. Plus, the service is always great. I've only ever had the chicken salad sandwich with provolone, and it's delicious (add pickles for amazingness). My man loves the pepperoni sandwich. It's saved his life. The broccoli cheddar soup is out of this world, way better than Panera's very similar version. The cookies are a must, and I've heard the shakes are great too. As Yelp so conveniently puts, "Yay! I'm a fan."
google avatar

Rosanna W.

Yelp
Love Love Love POTBELLYS!!! I have been here multiple times and it never fails. The customer service is good, they are very friendly. The line goes by pretty fast during lunch. If I wanted to get a good sandwhich - THE WRECK with almost everything in it is so good. You can tell them LIGHT on the toppings (for example: light mayo, light oil and italian seasoning). For salad, I normally get the chicken salad salad. The salad is pretty big and the chicken salad with the raisins give it a sweet taste. Other sandwhiches that are really good is italian, meatball sub, TKY. .. I guess I just love this place. Make sure to let them know if you want to order soup or shake in the beginning when you order your sandwhich/salad. Their COOKIES are some of the best cookies I have tried. All of them are so good ... of course high in caloric count, but are you surprised? Plenty of seating inside and sometimes they have someone sing at the restaurant which is unique.
google avatar

Rebecca M.

Yelp
MOLD-This review is just for this one time that I had a bad experience. I only have a 30 min lunch so I have to be fast. I ordered my sandwich and when I got to work I opened the paper only to realize that my bread had mold growing on it :( I love Pot Bellys there sandwiches, there shakes, there cookies I just really wish someone would have been a little more careful and noticed it. I called the manager, forgive me if I'm wrong, Waveland Banks he said he would give me a free sandwich when I go back. I do plan to but I guess I'll check from now on.
google avatar

Evan S.

Yelp
Much like any average Potbelly, but no soda fountain. Great location, very near both the Majestic and AFI theaters, in the very heart of downtown Silver Spring. I had a tuna sandwich with hot peppers and was delighted - it was delicious, and my leftovers were the same hours later. Would definitely be back and eat there again. Inexpensive ($4.44 total for the tuna) is a big plus in an area somewhat lacking in real budget eating options.
google avatar

A. C.

Yelp
(2/24/2016) I'm a fan in general of the Potbelly Sandwich Works. For a chain, I like their sandwiches, generally higher quality meats, nice chewy and crusty baguettes, and I do love the condiments (tons of mayo, vinegar dressing, spicy peppers). This one is much like all the others, but very roomy and conveniently located at City Place in Silver Spring, close to plenty of office workers for a brisk lunchtime crowd.
google avatar

MaJ C.

Yelp
What can be reviewed in a chain? The Tuna Sub is as it always is, at every Potbelly in existence, because that is how a chain works. This P'Belly always has Really great Customer service though, and that seems to set it apart. The employees act like they Like working there, and that makes me want to eat there as well. Clean for the most part, though they don't hit there tables to wipe them fast enough. All and all, I do like to eat here, when I am strolling one of those 'Fake Main Streets' And honestly, cheaper than most mom and pop sandwich shops, so when the wallet's not producing as it should, an easy remedy.

Yelp
That Clubby Sandwich that's made of turkey, ham, bacon, provolone cheese, ranch dressing, lettuce and tomato, served on wheat bread is like OMG! This sandwich is one of the best sandwiches I have ever tasted. Great for a snowy late night. Open until 10PM. Excellent parking downtown SS.
