This is one of our go-to lunch places in Berkeley. I always get a whole chicken ($13) and a plate of 4 sides. Ends up being around $7-$8 per person. The sides are great if you want to take something to go. I always bring something to my family for thanksgiving. The daily soups are always delicious. I had a crab and corn bisque last time I was there they was sooo good 😋

In general this is a reliable neighborhood shop with a good offering of broth soup different types of chicken and cookies. I like supporting them because I live nearby. However they should step up their game in the kitchen. The chicken is often overcooked and dry. Today I got the curried chicken salad and was expecting succulent pieces of breast with a delicious curry powder and mayonnaise flavor. What I got is a container half full of rice very little chicken and no discernible curry taste. Please stick to the classics and don’t put rice in the chicken salad! Curry chicken salad should just be chicken, almonds, grapes, curry powder celery etc. this race feels like a cheap way of filling up the container and cheating us out of the chicken.

Poulet has consistently delicious, fresh food and a lovely assortment of salads. They do great catering work as well. I've had them cater an office lunch for 10 and a party for 150 and both were great. The owner, Jesse, was a breeze to work with in both instances.

If you can catch the veggie fritata, it's incredible. Staff also very friendly and informative on items available fresh vs frozen. Mainly giving this 5 stars because of the overall theme, good home cooked food to go that doesn't have unnecessary extra salt.

Wonderful place not only for delicious take-out, but for full-service catering, including food, rentals, and service. They recently catered a dinner for 40 for me, and the food, service, and communication were all excellent, with very reasonable prices. Jesse was a pleasure to deal with.

I love the salads at poulet. Curried chicken salad and beet salad are my favorites. I hear the other food is good, but I can't resist eating these every time I come. So 5 stars on the salads.. Review of other food is pending until I diversify.

I ate it too fast to take pictures... zut alors, the Fried Chicken Sandwich here is magnifique! It was the slaw, really, that did it, though the chicken is perfection. Crispy, perfectly fried (and not in broken oil, thank god), zingy without being spicy, and so juicy and tender! The slaw is green, with just enough thinly sliced red onion to give it some power but not overwhelm. It seems the green dressing must be a combo of vinegars with parsley and perhaps mild green chile blended to a velvety texture, combined with the garlic aioli spread on the soft roll... well, just make sure to get napkins! It is SO GOOD it won't last long, so don't wear your best shirt. Sorry no pix, but the trip up to Poulet is totally worth it for this sandwich alone. Take out only right now, walk-up and pre-order available, staff was great, deli case selections menu is up to date on their website! No outdoor dining set up as of yet...

The place opens at 10. I got there at 10:30. None of the chicken was ready. So I paid for an overpriced piece of fried chicken and a leg/thigh. It was tasty, but mediocre for the $4 per piece. I had to wait for the leg/thigh to come out, and while there was only one to two customers in the store, the counter service guy forgot about my order 5 minutes after I placed it, then they tried to charge me again for it.
