Austin Restaurant JewBoy Burgers Is Opening a New Sandwich Shop | Eater Austin

"Opened in 2009 and known as a casual dive bar with burgers and fried pickles, this neighborhood spot closed in June 2020 due to COVID-19 restrictions and never reopened; its former space is being repurposed for the new sub shop." - Erin Russell

The food was good. The oven was broke so I had to get a fried crab cake. I prefer broiled. Nice little tucked away area.

Cathleen M.

Google
Visit #1: The Chorizo Benedict is the perfect blend of flavor, and tastier than the Crab Benedict. Visit #2: Steak and eggs were good and the Philly Steak bowl was a lil lite on the meat side c/w the potatoes.

The staff was friendly and sat us almost immediately. We ordered the kid's Mac and Cheese, kid's Cheese Pizza, Classic Burger, Pan Seared Salmon, 14 oz Ribeye, and the 3 Alarm Burger. The spinach that came with the steak and salmon was good but also very salty. Service-wise, it was okay. We did have to wait a bit for the waitress to check on us near the end of the meal, but she preemptively brought over to-go boxes when she did finally come around. All in all, not bad and will make a return trip in the future.

Kristin B.

Google
I got the prime rib Benedict and crab cake Benedict. I've had a better crab cake. The home fries are delicious always. The bottomless mimosas are always a hit, also.

Google
This place was awesome it's a place alot of locals go to. Delicious food, amazing staff Brandon our waiter was awesome. Definitely would go back we were headed home what bite to eat but we rather go to a local place then a chain restaurant what a great place. Use the side door. The fries were from potatoes not a bag

Brian M.

Google
The meal I had today was fantastic and I watched the Orioles game on one of many televisions. Great atmosphere here and everyone is having fun. Service is a little slow so you might have to be a little patient but the food was cooked to perfection and had a nice presentation.

Shawn B.

Google
Nice atmosphere nice service. Tucked away Hideaway. Worth the drive off the freeway if you're headed back home from Ocean City or other places on the shore. The decor in the atmosphere of the pub are delightful. The food is good enough for a pub and the menu selections are vast I will be going back and I recommend that you visit also.

Google
Located at a marina, the atmosphere was nice if perhaps a bit dark. Our food was good, though my daughters sandwich, which was supposed to have fried onions, was cut fairly large and seemed mostly raw. Had to try to pick them out, which mostly destroyed the sandwich. She tried to eat some, but that first mouthful of nearly raw onions didn't go well. I'd go back for another meal though! Since it was midday on a Sunday it was not crowded and the staff pleasant.

Yelp
Place is basic inside with tables and bar seating available. Food was very good. Prime was excellent. Crab cake was also good. Service was good. Nice large menu. Will return.

Yelp
Stopped by for cocktails and appetizers while waiting for a friend to reach town. Ordered the FGT-BLT (fried green tomato / bacon lettuce tomato). This was four fried green tomatoes with a really delicious sauce that had a kick. And an Irish Nacho. This was potato chips with tomatoes cheese jalapeños. It was also really good! For a cocktail, tried the sweet Georgia peach tea. It was yummy. We came by here on a Wednesday where they were having trivia night. It was pretty fun ! Our server was very helpful and attentive. The bar was quaint. There was an outdoor patio which I'm sure is nice in the summer. Would recommend this fun place!!!

Yelp
Had a late dinner with my nephew. He got the Classic Burger. Said it was good. Came with fries and those were delish too I ended up with the Fish and Chips. Large fish that was hot and good. Came with a spicy sauce, but I asked for Tarter sauce instead To get to the bathrooms seems like you have to sort of go thru a kitchen area, a little weird lol and I thought somewhat unsanitary Jaylan was a great waitress!

Rene D.

Yelp
The beer was cold, the service was great. My burger was overcooked but tasty anyway. My table mates enjoyed their tacos, prime rib and burger.

Jan P.

Yelp
Service great, food good, good value, ambiance a bit dark and crowded. Can get loud if full.

Lynn R.

Yelp
Cozy neighborhood restaurant pub. Good drafts including local. Friendly staff and patrons. By Castle Marina

Yelp
I ordered a Cobb salad that comes with arugula. I asked him to change it to iceberg, which they did is difficult to eat because they didn't cut or chopped the iceberg lettuce. It's just a bunch of big leaves and because all the other stuff in the salad, it was just a pain in the neck and, I picked out the tomatoes and avocados and didn't even finish half the salad and I just don't understand why they would serve a salad with big giant leaves in it like that. It was just ridiculous.
google avatar

Jeff E.

Yelp
Nice out-of-the-way place. Decent beer selection and the food was good. You're review needs at least eighty five characters.

Jason M.

Yelp
Poor lighting. Really dark inside. DO NOT get the crab cake. It's really a "bread cake" with maybe 5% crab meat. Just really terrible. Most other items are very good. Prime rib nights are epic!
google avatar

Sophie C.

Yelp
If the young people have to leave because it's ridiculously loud, it's too loud. Maybe it was the blue plate special and the seniors forget their hearing aids. It was awful.
google avatar

Lou M.

Yelp
Great burgers and wings! Old school pub with a friendly atmosphere. A favorite of locals!
google avatar

Teresa C.

Yelp
Nicest folks, attentive service, the best food & a relaxing view. Dog friendly is always an additional plus.

Yelp
Nice little sports bar... looks out over the marina. Not the best view (fence and parking lot between tables and water) but not the worst either. Friendly staff. Clean. Great food and good prices. Love love loved the crab and avocado pizza! Would order again (and again). The ahi tuna app was plentiful and well-seasoned - but came without chips or bread so awkward for eating. The sausage Mac and Cheese was also good - not heavy or greasy. Lots of large screen TVs wit different games on. Bar area and seated dining area. Entrance is wheelchair accessible. Men's bathroom is wheelchair accessible but women's is not at all. An all-around nifty and fun place to spend an afternoon or evening.
google avatar

Cindy B.

Yelp
Great burgers and fresh cut fries!! crab cakes are good too. Tacos and nifty items that never disappoint on the menu. Music on the weekends. Nice bar.

Yelp
My wife and I are locals who have eaten lunch everywhere around Kent Island. There are a lot of restaurants to like, but Pour House is our go-to option. It is the most under-rated restaurant in the area. Perhaps it gets penalized for its indirect water views, but the atmosphere and the food are fantastic. It's a homey pub, with exposed brick and wood and warm lighting. I'm sure it probably gets loud on weekends and evenings, but during the day it is convivial. The food is far better than one would expect on Kent Island, where many restaurants are more about the view than the food. Somebody here actually cares about food. You'll see it in the well-executed flatbread pizzas, steak frites, shrimp tacos and great fish and chips. The menu is similar to what you would expect, but the design and execution of the dishes themselves is first-rate, and the pricing is excellent for KI. Again, I'm guessing it's a lot less expensive to rent a basement space with an indirect marina view than it is to be right on a wider waterview on the Narrows or the Bay. The service has always been fast and friendly. I'm hesitant to talk this place up, because I'd hate to see it get too popular. Just leave my Wednesday lunches free, and all will be cool.

Yelp
Nice place with excellent food and service. Family friendly. Cozy place to hang out with locals and friends. Happy hour deals are good.

Stan R.

Yelp
Don't tell anyone about this place. Then everyone will know. They don't have a sign but the best burger around. The crab cake is a great deal and is huge. Good music on the weekends.

Gail P.

Yelp
There's so much going for this friendly pub, it's our go-to. Great variety all consistently good, cozy atmosphere, live music on weekends, and at daily specials--what's not to like. We have a boat in Castle Marina and Pour House feels and tastes like home.

Yelp
I've been exploring all the restaurants in my community and FINALLY got to visit here. Rustic and charming this pub offers a full bar with daily drink/beer specials selected from different regions. I don't drink but my soda was served in a cute mason jar! Very busy for a Friday night so a little slow to get our drinks but the live music passed the time. Absolutely LOVED the Philly cheesesteak egg roll appetizer! My mouth is still craving more. My Fish & Chips dinner was HUGE and fresh. Menu is great I can't wait to go back to try the rest I had a hard time choosing from! (Not to mention the egg rolls!!) Thumbs up for a local pub and reasonable prices. Hidden gem bc the food was really great and priced. What the view lacks- the food and sport tv's w/ live music makes up for. They are a major part of an annual "SantaCon" bar hop w/busses as part of a charity. So much fun!! I believe you can come by boat being there is a marina. Indoor and outdoor seating available. These small but quaint places are my absolute favorite and this one is one of the top!

Yelp
We've been several times. It's cozy with good staff and nice location. Just went with whole family to Sunday brunch and it's my favorite visit so far. Excellent delivery on brunch menu, hot tasty with reasonable prices and good bottomless Bloody Mary. Reason it's not 5 stars? All other visits had repeatedly weak pours on cocktails even after I mentioned it.
google avatar

David D.

Yelp
ts a nice pub. Pub food is good, not great. Good beer selection. Reasonable prices; nice casual place for a good value meal or to have a drink or three.
google avatar

Stephanie L.

Yelp
This is our favorite stop after a visit to the dog beach! We like the patio seating. It offers a nice view of the harbor & sailboats. The chorizo mac-n-cheese is to die for.

Gary S.

Yelp
Looking for lunch with local flavor? The Pour Houses Pub offers a great crab cake and a crisp IPA with more fries than could be wished for. Plus pleasently attentive waiter.
google avatar

Megan S.

Yelp
Slow. Service. This place has potential but staff need to be more attentive. Or hire more people. Food takes 45 minutes to come out. On top of the wait for somebody to bring your silverware. Skip. There's better places on the island.

Christian S.

Yelp
Fun place for bar food. Usually have live music that is mostly very good. We are local and visit frequently.

Yelp
It's been awhile since we've been here. The crab eggs benedict was the best thing about this place. It has really gotten dirty. It's extremely dark, maybe to hide the dirt. They need to remodel bathrooms, or find a way you don't have to walk through work area to get to them. The waitress was horrible, she wasn't rude but slow and inattentive. I'll be finding other places to go for awhile before returning anytime soon, hopefully meanwhile they give this place a good spring cleaning. Windows are gross. Hope waitress steps up her game for her own sake. Just passed yellow fin, wish we would have tried here instead bc it crowded so it must be good.

Yelp
8/10/2019 I traveled to Pour House Pub from my home in Crownsville to see singer/guitarist Scott Spivey. It was not the first time I've been here, but this is my first Yelp review & I just want you all to know that food is outstanding, the service impeccable, & the craft beer selection is absolutely delicious.

Anthony M.

Yelp
I've been coming to the pour house off and on for the past three years. Food is hit and miss, it depends on who's in the kitchen. The jalapeño BLT is excellent when you get a good bacon count. This is establishment lacks consistency! Bar tender's are excellent! Wait staff is ok. Give it a try and hopefully you'll get a good crew.

Yelp
My friend wanted to show off his new condo on Kent Island to me, then took me to the little pub right beside his new place, knowing I'm a huge craft beer fan. What an awesome surprise to find my most fave on tap, Victory Golden Monkey.... Service was a bit slow but the staff was very friendly and the food better than average if not better!! The Ahi Tuna was the best I'd ever had. Wasabi sauce, the worst..... not a bit of kick!! (easy remedy)... I had the steak sandwich, very tender, cooked just right...still a bit pink even though thin. Tomatoes tasted farm fresh with flavor... sliced mushrooms, large..... with a side of fresh cut fries... A very pleasant evening with a great crowd cheering on the Orioles.
google avatar

Maria M.

Yelp
This was our first time there and we were surprised with the menu options. They have happy hour from 3 to 7pm. Our food was excellent, and the service was outstanding for a busy Friday afternoon. My only issue was that the Maryland crab soup was too spicy for me but the flavor was good. We will definitely be back soon.
google avatar

Pete J.

Yelp
As a local went there today to avoid the crowds at the dock bars. Waited over 15 minutes for a waitress. In between the wait walked in the back to the restroom and observed 3 waitresses talking and playing on the phone. Asked the bartender for assistance and she advised that she would have someone come over..... another 10 minutes later.. finally got POOR service! Food decent..... service horrible! Strike 1 for this place.

Yelp
PROs: The menu is better than your typical bar or pub and we've been going there long enough to know that they change their menu items on a regular basis. CONS: Management needs to address the issue of smoking. Smokers stand a few feet outside the only door to come and go (especially when it's cold or raining). So every time the door opens you get a pleasant "whiff" of smoke to go along with your meal. Then when it's time to leave, you feel like your exiting the Church after getting married, except it isn't a hail of rice you're walking through it's a smoke curtain. Overall an okay place to eat if you're craving decent food at a bar environment. But it would certainly be a lot more enjoyable without the gaggle of smokers.

Jose J.

Yelp
First time there tonight and I wound up paying the tab for the guy sitting next to me just because we were in conversation even after I pointed it out to the Bartender. Will not be back by tab should of been $38.00 dollars wound up paying $67.00...not good

Yelp
Love this place, we go there at least twice a week. The food is consistently good! Also the bill is always less than we expect. I highly recommend this hidden gem.

Steven V.

Yelp
I first want to say, that I have eaten here many times and always have been satisfied. However this past Saturday my wife and I stopped in for a bite to eat. She had a salad that was fine and I had the fish and chips. I had one beer with my meal and we went home after that. About 6:00 pm that night I was violently ill. I vomited all night long. It was definitely the fish and chips that was causing my sickness. My wife called the manager and she didn't really seem to care at all. I stopped in on that Monday to talk to the same manager and she seemed to think I was making the it all up. If I would have just gotten an apology and my money back for my meal I would have written it of as a mistake and let it go. Instead I was treated like a liar. I certainly do not need to make up a story for a free meal. Anyway beware, if it happened once and they don't care it will happen again.

Yelp
I am moving into the Condos literally walking distance, and I decided to stop in here to see what it's about and get some food/drinks. I had the Buffalo Mac & Cheese and it was great, and also 2 of the craft beers. I was VERY satisfied! Erica was the bartender and she is very friendly and provides fast service, she even put on the Maryland Terps game for me without hesitation. Being a nitpicker, I wish the bar was a tad bit bigger, but all in all this will be my local spot starting next month! Thank you!!!!

Ben H.

Yelp
2 words. Terrible management. Restrooms = disaster. Go to Sado upstairs for Sushi instead.
google avatar

Cyn K.

Yelp
Went for the first time for breakfast. Erica was our bartender and she was so kind and accommodating, they are lucky to have her. She was patient and kind and funny and we will be going back. Had the avocado toast and it was delicious!
google avatar

Jeff W.

Yelp
Pour House was listed in 10 Best Burgers on Eastern Shore, and they did not disappoint. The El Machete was big, juicy and right amount of spiciness. We also had the flavorful Wild Mushroom Pizza. We finished with the Banana Chimichanga ... BAMM!!! Delicious!!! Christian was a very attentive helpful server and their tap craft beer was nice. A little hard to find without GPS, as they are below and on the side of Cafe Sado with no street sigange.

A H.

Yelp
Went in for lunch today. Ordered and 53 minutes later we still did not even have our appetizers . We had killed our lunch break and had to leave to get back to office. Waiter never said a thing about being backed up until I said we had to leave . Will not be going g there again.

Thomas F.

Yelp
Great Food, Drinks and atmosphere. The Service Is exception hands down my favorite place to eat on Kent Island.
google avatar

Nathan F.

Yelp
Long time yelp reader, first time writer! Pour House motivated me to pour my heart out in praises for their food, drink, and service! First off, my friend is going through a breakup and I wanted to cheer her up, so wanted to take her somewhere new for both of us... and she wanted to take her adorable dog with her, so when I heard Pour House had a dog-friendly outdoor patio, we decided to give it a try. First off the beer selection was great... a nice balance of all different styles of craft beer, including the Golden Monkey Belgian Tripel (which clocks in at an amazingly deceiving 9.5%) for only $5! I also had the Sweet Water 420 which I love... There were solid lighter beers as well, such as the Fin City Wheat and a Grapefruit Ale... both of those seemed to really improve the spirits of my friend in mourning. (Speaking of grapefruit, if you haven't seen the Aziz Ansari bit about 50 Cent & grapefruits, then you should check it out - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=waCF81HdKAA) As far as food, everything on the menu looked amazing, but we decided to go with the specials for the day, and what a great choice that turned out to be! I had a chicken spinach pizza with honey sriracha sauce... and it was so tasty that I'm tempted to trek back there tonight to try it again! The doggie enjoyed the nibbles of the crust that I gave her as well :) My friend had a crab & avocado salad sandwich w/ fries and we also split some mashed potatoes - all of these items were amazing. As for the service, it was top notch. Our server was very attentive and quite friendly... she took the time to get to know us... and our little dog too! Ahahahaha! Sorry, I had to do that. Anyway, our server was on top of every request we had. I believe her name was Eve? or something like that... I know the name had an E and a V in it... Evette? Eva? Evelyn? Evita? Evervescence? Oh well, guess I'll just have to go back! My only complaint was that the urinals in the bathroom were very tall... I'm about 5'9, and without getting into all the details of my dad bod, I'll just say that I almost had to get on my tippy toes! Sorry this whole paragraph is prob tmi. To summarize, I was pleasantly surprised with this establishment, from the succulent suds to the savory snacks to the sensational service, we were sent home simply satiated! Okay, I'm sorry I love alliteration too much...

Wade G.

Yelp
Best service on the island, best bussing, and best bar tending, and most of all best managing. I loved the atmosphere and the severs were great to my table. Definitely recommend this place to everybody and it's very family friendly!

Alexis S.

Yelp
Almost don't want to give this hidden gem away! Food never disappoints. If you are over on the eastern shore give this place a try. Excellent crab cake sandwich! Portion is humongous so have your fork ready for spill over lumps of crab meat. Fettuccine with shrimp was presented well and tasted great!!!

Yelp
This was my second time here. Last time we had the brunch menu and it was delicious. This visit we brought some friends with us and told them how great it was. I thought i would try something new so i had the california burger (medium), my friends got each a salad and my husband got something off the brunch menu. We also got crab soup and two kinds of wings. Our drinks came out and not too long our apps came out. Then came the wait. 20 minutes went and then finally our entrees came. Nuts and berries with salmon salad came out and the spinach looked really old. The salmon was over cooked and dry. The other salad was a ceasar which was okay. My burger came out and the greens on it was old too. It was cooked well done instead of medium. My husband's food was pretty decent. Im sad to say i didnt finish my food and the nuts and berries salad was barely touched. The best part about our lunch was our bloody mary's. I think next time i will stick with apps, drinks and the brunch menu.
google avatar

Jessica K.

Yelp
We visited again, sans 18 month old. Amazing pizza! I had the Buffalo pizza and dB had the mushroom. So tasty! Definitely worth a try!
google avatar

Caroline S.

Yelp
We took the in-laws here. Service was a tad slow but the food made up for the wait. My in-laws loved their MD crab soup. Tons of crabmeat and very fresh tasting they said. The crab cake sandwich was huge and excellent per my father in law. The fresh cut fries were perfect. Everyone enjoyed their meal which included oysters, wings and the nuts and berries salad with grilled chicken. A couple of tips though - put salt and pepper and sweetener on the table so patrons don't have to ask for it. Also, when serving an appetizer provide small plates. And when you make iced tea make sure the glass is full of ice because otherwise the ice melts right away. Tweak a few things and this place will be perfect. Good job over all though. We will be back!

Chris B.

Yelp
This place was average. Good beer selection, the food was just ok. Service was attentive and but not pushy. Good beer selection and nice atmosphere. I would consider going back for a second chance.

Yelp
Great lunch time atmosphere. Restaurant is busy, team shows up to help. Love the team approach to customer service!!
