"Being part of the Institute for Tourism Studies, this place has students working in its kitchen and front-of-house teams – and the pride they take in their work is palpable. The menu features European and Macanese dishes; for a taste of local flavours, start with the Macanese appetiser platter and order African chicken as your main. Oenophiles should peruse the exclusively Portuguese wine list. On Saturdays only the Macanese buffet is served." - Michelin Inspector

This place is a teaching facility for students of the university of tourism. There is no casino here so more kids friendly. The students are very nice.

We enjoyed every bit of our stay here. What a gorgeous hotel. Hotel is refurbished. The staff are all very polite and attentive. The staff also took the initiative to take a commemorative photo for us when we checked out. The decor is charming so many Chinese and Portuguese style elements. That bed was a bit hard but overall is good. Definitely would stay here again.

Me and my husband stayed here 6-8 Dec. Upon our check-in we were served by the teacher Mr. Au Yeung and his student, they were extremely helpful and polite. In fact during our stay everyone (front desk, shuttle driver, staff in the restaurant) was friendly and always ready to offer help. The room was very clean and tidy, yet maintained the yesterday's charm. We really love the place! It's quite and peaceful, away from the casinos, but within walking distance to the main historical attractions. We took their free shuttle in the morning going to the ferry terminal and Hotel Lisboa. Their free WiFi signal was good. If we ever go back to Macau we would definitely stay there again.

In Macau for just a night and wanting a taste of the real Macau, as opposed to the artifice of the Cotai Strip, this place seemed the ideal choice for my wife and I. We were not disappointed. Situated in "old" peninsula Macau, the hotel is barely 100 metres from the former Mong-Ha Fortress and barracks that is now a park and recreation area. The hotel itself is the converted barracks for NCOs, not that there's any sense of the military feel of the former use left. Instead it feels like you've walked straight into a slice of the Mediterranean transported to the top of a hill in Macau. The architecture, the tile work, the iron-work, whitewashed walls, open squares and decorative fountains. The front desk staff are some of the most attentive we've ever met - multi-lingual, efficient, anticipatory and extremely courteous. They treat every question as simply that - not a problem you've given them that they'd prefer you had kept to yourself and similarly solved yourself - and endeavour to find the answer. They've got good knowledge of the area and can point you quickly and easily in the direction of some of the most unassuming, yet interesting historical points in Macau. The only food we ate at the hotel was breakfast, which was an excellent spread of pretty much everything you could want, including fresh-baked breads and pastries, homemade jams, etc. Our schedule deprived us the opportunity to sample more - so we'll have to make a return trip to make up for it. And we fully intend to, as this hotel is really a study (no pun intended) in how things should be done from a customer's point of view. We were there for just one night and it was our first time, yet we were treated as though we were long-standing guests, returning for another long-term residency. We were made to feel as if we were coming home. Wonderful.

Our first time to Macau and we picked this hotel because of its location - being away from the bustle but also within walking distance to the main historical attractions we were interested in seeing. The ambiance is very calm with fountains, terracotta floors and Portuguese decorative tiles - with a slight Asian twist.||The staff are young and friendly and went out of their way to help us one night when we we were too tired to find somewhere to eat. They organised some takeaway! Amazing!

If you've come to Macau for a bit of Portuguese culture, and to be far away from the casinos and soul-less hotels, this is probably the closest you'll be able to get. Granted it feels a bit 'institutional' when you arrive - it looks like (and it is!) a college campus. And the lobby is not exactly a Portuguese home in Porto. But...! When you get into the room it definitely has a lovely 'homey' feel. The room is small but carpeted, well maintained and clean. Bed and sheets were very comfortable. Bathroom is a bit lacking - small shower cubicle with dated showers, metal ceiling, etc. But it too is still clean and fine. Wifi is great. Overall for the price it is pretty darned good.||And to make up for any small deficiencies, the staff (some of which are students and others I believe instructors) are truly wonderful. They are caring, sweet, and go out of their way to help. They also use their intuition to get things for you and do things you haven't even asked for. Best hotel staff by far I've seen in Macau. ||They also opened the restaurant for us on a weekend because there was a typhoon at the time. This is extremely thoughtful as all other restaurants (outside of casinos) were closed. Thank you! And to boot it was an excellent meal and very affordable (the wine list and prices are amazing - don't miss it.) ||Overall - excellent. Will definitely come back.

I stay here about twice a year. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly and it has all the amenities you would expect at 5 star hotel. A good location to venture out and see the local historical sites, but a bit far away for the casinos. I've tried other hotels in Macau over the past 30 years but I will always stay here from here on out.

Do not miss this Posada, that hosts the school of Hospitality. Charming, in a Hill with nice views of the city, and witness of the Colonial Portuguese History. Nice rooms and an excellent restaurant you should not miss. An excellent wine list and a variety of Portuguese dishes worth a try. A piece of the Mediterranean in Asia.
