We had such a lovely stay at this charming hotel. -Culture: the grounds are just majestic. The ancient ruins are so well preserved with rich history different from the rest of Portugal. -Food: the restaurant is fantastic. At dinner, we enjoyed amazing Michelin level dishes and authentic desserts. Wine pairings were also perfect with regional suggestions from the very knowledgeable staff. -Grounds: the decor, piano bar, and pool are lovely. -PEOPLE & STAFF: this was the best part. Such a welcoming, warm, gracious staff. A special thank you to Paula who almost felt like family to our little one. Thank you for your kind heart! Genuinely impressed by this small corner of Portugal and cannot wait to be back. Highly recommend coming here if you want to relax with a splash of culture.

I had a massage with Leonor during my stay, and it was a wonderful experience. She really takes the time to listen to your needs, and the massage — which included legs, feet, and back — was amazing. I left feeling deeply relaxed and with all tension relieved. Highly recommended!

We visited the Pousada Mosteiro Crato restaurant during our Erasmus stay in Portalegre, where we were hosted by the local university. The atmosphere of the restaurant is absolutely charming, as it is set in a historic monastery. The ambiance is peaceful and inviting, making it a great spot to enjoy a meal. The food was delicious, offering a variety of well-prepared local dishes. The staff was friendly and attentive, creating a welcoming experience for all of us. While we didn’t stay at the hotel, our visit to the restaurant made a great impression, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone in the area.

Rooms are spacious and very comfortable with a balcony where you can enjoy a good reading moment. Nice outdoor swimming pool. Friendly staff.

The pousada is beautiful, extremely quiet, and perfect for relaxation in such a special building. The common areas are well-maintained, warm, and pleasant to be in. We stayed in the old part of the building—our room was very comfortable, clean, and quiet. The reception, breakfast, and cleaning staff were all very nice, helpful, and welcoming, doing their best to make our experience enjoyable. The fruits and sweets in the room were a thoughtful touch, especially since there’s nothing around the hotel. An electric kettle would be a great addition to the room, especially in winter. For our anniversary, we were offered sparkling wine and an extremely tasty cake, which was a lovely gesture. Breakfast was delicious and very well served in a beautiful room—only the espresso was very bad. We really enjoyed taking our time with long, relaxing breakfasts. The spa is a great addition, the saunas work well, but the jacuzzi water was too cold, and the spa facilities were a bit chilly. The area around the hotel is very peaceful, with stunning views along the local roads. We would definitely stay here again, even considering that it's in the middle of nowhere.

We stayed here for 3 days in the new section of the Pousada. Internet had bad reception most places. We were helped by Daniel who was top notch! So helpful, very kind and welcoming. He provided the best service and we interacted with 2-3 other people at the front desk during our stay. The property is amazing, very quiet and you can really smell the freshness in the air outside. The old part of the property is well maintained and restored although it was leaking water through the ceiling in the hall way of the new section. The architecture of the new part is very ugly and feels like a bunker on the balcony-exposed iron and concrete. Would stay here again even though it’s way out of the way and in the middle of nowhere. It’s worth going out of your way to stay here at least one time in your lifetime, but stay in the old part. Their breakfast is one of the best but not their dinner, go somewhere else locally for dinner. Hire a new chef and change the menu to traditional Portuguese food!
