Where to Find Trendy Coffee Cocktails in D.C. | Eater DC

"The W Hotel DC’s newly renovated perch overlooking the White House offers a Cold Brew “Covfefe” — a nod to President Donald Trump’s infamous tweet — with Leopold Bros. French press coffee liqueur on ice ($17 each; $80 for a carafe). The toupee-splashed cup also contains Buzzard Point barrel aged white rum, tonic, limoncello, and espresso." - Tierney Plumb

The POV is my go-to place for coffee and a space to be productive. I love how if you bring your mug for the coffee brew you get 10% off the drink; it gives me a reason to use my coffee mugs now. If you’re not on a budget though, their seasonal menu is absolutely a must-try. The staff are super friendly and approachable. I have gotten to know a few baristas from the time I have been there. The WiFi is also pretty reliable if you’re doing work that requires internet access. Oh, and the food options are always a must-try. My favorites are the croissants and kolaches. Overall, this a place I highly recommend and I always look forward to coming back every time.

Google
Baristas here are so sweet and always willing to give a recommendation. Drinks are consistently good, a little pricey but definitely good. Only critique would be, the music is always too loud and the place is kept super cold, bring a sweater. But no hate to the establishment, love the vibes and aesthetic of getting some work done near the lake.

Google
Cute coffee shop next to the Marriott Stella! I enjoyed a season flavor "The Hippie" and it was so unique & delicious. I can't wait to try "Sweet Chai of Mine" tomorrow. The pastries are good! Music is a bit loud, but two people could still have a conversation inside the place.

Tried this place for the first time today and it was SO good. The seasonal drinks were super yummy. It's a nice place to sit or stop by for a coffee.

Google
We came in with our friends and wanted to sit together (4 of us total). We found three seats and brought one over. The cowardly manager sent one of the baristas to kick us out of our seats because we brought a chair over so our group could sit together. They don’t care that one person is sitting at a table for four for hours at a time. They choose to allow squatters to take over seats for hours at a time so there is really no room for a group of friends to sit. I say go ahead and allow one person to buy a $4. Drink and sit for hours and harass a group that come in and spends 10x that.

Please read the entirety of this comment. Here is my SCORE: 1) Atmosphere: 4.5/5 2) Service: 5/5 3) Flavor: 5/5 4) Cost: 4.9/5 Total Score: 4.85 (4.8/5). This place is such a treat. I highly recommend their oat milk cortados. They understand how to treat alternative milks so that they do not taste like burnt. The staff is friendly and professional. I wish them the absolute best in their business.

Google
This shop has a FANTASTIC atmosphere! Really great indoor vibes, with nice big windows and a TON of outside seating! Their only downfall is that their coffee is relatively mediocre. They use Independence Roasting Co out of Brenham, TX. Independence over roasts and basically mutes all of the natural flavors of their coffees in favor of blends similar to those you would find in a grocery store. Again...POV is great, but their coffee needs some work to get to the five star mark!

Yelp
Great coffee and pastries. Their cinnamon honey vanilla latte is delicious but definitely on the sweater side. Love the option that you can choose your sweetness level and they are always very accommodating to all! Great coffee shop to grab a coffee and bite and walk around the lake!

Boddy C.

Yelp
Best coffee shop around in my opinion. They do everything right about a coffee shop. The atmosphere, coffee, and food are all great. Fantastic place to lock in for multiple hours for school or to just chill and read

Yelp
Quick stop to grab coffee before heading home. This place was a packed house. I ordered the large garden, which was a honey vanilla latte. I must say, it one of the best I had. If you're ever in town, definitely stop by and give this place a try.

Katrislan H.

Yelp
Coffee is delicious and I love their chocolate croissants and bacon, egg, and cheese biscuits!
google avatar

Yelp
Great environment, they provide WiFi so it's a great place to get some homework done! They have indoor and outdoor seating so I bring my dog. Only thing is the food is overpriced and not very good at all. I got the Caesar wrap and it was dry and it tasted like it had been out for at least 6 hours. Coffee is great and affordable

Yelp
Good service Nice area to enjoy coffee Lake nearby is a good place to sit Food options available

Yelp
I stumbled upon this coffee shop because I was staying next-door at the Stella. The workers were very nice and friendly, but it's pretty pricey. I ordered a small (12oz) Americano, because they don't serve regular iced coffee) and a kolache and combined it was $10. The drink was average. The kolache was good, but not worth $5. Nothing really stood out to me about this coffee shop. There were plenty of people on laptops, and it was pretty spacious with outdoor seating as well.

C. L. C.

Yelp
Great coffee shop attached to the Stella Hotel. Tried the drip coffee along with a cold coffee both were very good. Also tried the blueberry muffin which was very good. The staff was very well trained in customer service and efficient at filling orders. Definitely worth a stop if you are in the area or staying at the Stella.

Yelp
Best cappuccino I have had in a while. Strong and bold! They have a nice variety of refrigerated pastries that can be warmed up per request . We split a cheese danish and was very moist. They have every flavor, syrup and milk you can imagine for endless coffee combinations. Although this is not attached to the hotel It is still part of it . Service was ok .
google avatar

Yelp
Quaint little coffee shop to visit if you're staying at The Stella or around the area. The baristas are super friendly and efficient. Tried the Bees Knees, Kolache and it was great. Bring your own container and they give you a 10% discount.
google avatar

Ginger S.

Yelp
I was staying at the Stella. I had a cold coffee and a chocolate croissant. Both were amazing, probably the best chocolate croissant I have ever had. The ice coffee was an Indy... really GOOD! Location is great and beautiful. Service was fast and friendly. Only negative.... The anti Texas Longhorn stickers. LOL!!! I'd still go back.
google avatar

Haylee S.

Yelp
This place is super cute and aesthetic! It was super crowded when I went, but luckily there was outdoor seating. Overall it was a great experience and I loved the seasonal Gingerbread Latte. This place is also located super close to a sort of tower where you can overlook pretty views!

Yelp
Texas, youre killing with your Coffey, game. But this place gets a little bit closer to what I'm used to. The entryway is a little odd but it works. The barista was friendly enough and their menu seems pretty diverse. Lots of coffee/espresso drinks along side some alcoholic bevvies. The ambience is halfway between college coffee shop and hipster meats southern coffee shop which is all right. It definitely caters to the college students, which what in this town doesn't. In terms of the coffee I was pretty impressed with the vanilla latte I ordered! 90% of the lattes I've ordered in this town are extremely creamy and or overly sweet. This one was a bit on the sweeter side, though the vanilla flavor I got was very soft. You could actually taste the espresso so it kind of felt like a bit more of a regular latte rather than a flavored one. Still pretty good though. Only complaint was that the espresso was a little on the Burnside, which is really just a common feature of Coffey,'s in Texas. Still pretty tasty, but nothing beats my love for sweet bloom coffee.

Yelp
POV Is good for doing work and our coffee came out in less then 5 minutes. The service was nice and quick. Recommend the Cinatra.

Yelp
Great service, everyone is so friendly. Love their bacon egg & cheese biscuit. Very good place to work from home or study because it has an airy atmosphere.

Yelp
usually love this place! great place for studying super pretty inside and outside!! came with my best friend and one of the guy workers was extremely rude and made her drink super bad and unmixed. when she asked him to remake it he was extremely rude and then remade it in the same cup still leaving the unmixed stuff in the bottom!!
google avatar

Lacy C.

Yelp
It's one of the better coffee shops in the Bryan/College station area, lots of seating but usually tables inside are filled with students, outside seating is usually open. Staff is always very friendly and fast. There's typically long lines but you don't end up waiting very long with as quick and efficient as they are. Not accepting cash is my biggest complaint but that's becoming more the norm unfortunately.
google avatar

Morgan B.

Yelp
Definitely my go-to coffee shop in college station! Lots of pictures from many study trips :)

Yelp
Beautiful location at the Lake Walk/Traditions area. I love being able to get coffee from my favorite local coffee from Independence Roasters (Black Truck Coffee in Brenham) without the drive. I haven't tried food from here, but there seems to be a decent selection. It's a quiet atmosphere most of the time, with both inside and outdoor seating options. They also seem to be doing a good job with Covid protocols. It is pricey, more so than any of the fast food coffee options, but not really more than the downtown shoppes.

Bodie H.

Yelp
Thank you to the morning crew! Including: Katie, Kaitlyn, Gabby, and Bay (bonus shoutout to Bryce too!)
google avatar

Cherry Y.

Yelp
I can't believe I forgot to leave this place a review, as this establishment is the cleanest and cutest cafe I've come across in Bryan/College Station! WiFi works well, too, if you're looking for a place to get some work or studying done. I only wish that they include some vegan options in their bakery selection, as they don't seem to have any at the moment :'(

Ziggy C.

Yelp
The current staff is very friendly and go out of their way to make you happy. I have learned to go there about midmorning. That is when they restock on sweets. I do wish that they would either get Diet Coke or Coke Zero. The only diet drink stocked is Diet DrPepper. They are usually open on holidays which is nice. They usually wish me a good day when I leave. Thank you!!!!

T. D.

Yelp
Lots of seating and coffee options, but not many outlets. Not a place to go if you want a full meal, though. There's a selection of pastries (typical muffins, scones, and croissants) and maybe a couple small breakfast sandwiches, but that's about all. Great place to got for outdoor seating, a quieter place to work, or grabbing a coffee with a friend.
google avatar

Lizbeth M.

Yelp
Absolutely horrible tasting overpriced coffee. However, the tea is good as are their pastries. Their WiFi is good as well. It does get busy so I'd recommend getting there at a decent time to snag a comfortable seat if you plan on being there for a long study session.

Emma J.

Yelp
I love coming to POV, it's such a gorgeous and quaint little coffee shop that always provides some of the best coffee and pastries I've ever had. I highly recommend trying their specialty drinks. And don't forget that you get 10% off your purchase when you bring your own mug!
google avatar

Yelp
I was so happy to find this coffee shop!! Put a smile on my face when I found out it was open at 6am. We were staying at The Stella Hotel and this is literally right out the door to your left 100 steps. Has a Starbucks vibe. Clean. Comfortable. Many types of seating areas inside and outside. Charging stations. Nice bathrooms. Didn't try any of their pastries. Coffee was hot and fresh, couldn't ask for anything more.
google avatar

Yelp
Although this is a very nice space, great for studying I'm sure, it was not very family friendly but for a college town it's understandable. This review is primarily based on the coffee itself as well as the service. The menu was full of specialty coffee drinks that seemed all over the place.. I ordered a regular cortado, and my girlfriend ordered a "midnight yell". The barista was nice enough but was trash talking coffee shops like Dutch bros while bragging about how fast he was. He whipped up the drinks pretty fast sure but very poorly. The cortado was comprised of Sour Espresso and scalded milk. I don't think 3rd wave esque shops should have full specialty coffee menus when they cannot make classics.. The specialty drink "midnight yell" was a mixture of sour espresso and unmeasured sweeteners with a tiny scoop of ice which melted very quickly. The cortado, tho poor, was drinkable but my girlfriends drink went straight into the trash.

Gianluca C.

Yelp
Place looks amazing! Coffee, tea, AND sandwiches is a stretch. It appeared that they only had muffins and croissants but I could be wrong. They should also update their hours because I went out of my way to stop here (friend's recommendation) but when I showed up they said they were closed. Not sure what their actual hours are because I didn't see them posted either. POV, please be better.

Yelp
This was my first visit at this coffee shop - prices are a little high, but the pastries are wonderful! I had a chocolate chip muffin that they heated up before giving to me and it was delicious! There were lots of chocolate chips so that made me really happy! My friend loves their savory sausage kolache! We also split the mudslide tart - the crust is superb and the filling is nice and light! My friend enjoys their specialty coffee drinks, but being a tea drinker myself, I chose a classic Jasmine tea. They only have 4 tea options, but my tea was quite delicious. The ambience of the cafe is quite nice! It's right next to a small lake and in the summer has a nice breeze and pretty view. There is also ample parking available! Would definitely come back!
google avatar

Mary C.

Yelp
Price for a hot coffee was reasonable, but it was weak tasting and bland. I'd rather have a McDonald's coffee for 1/2 the price, and it'd taste better too.
google avatar

Chelsea P.

Yelp
Love this place! They serve Merit coffee, which is based out of San Antonio (Local coffee for the win). It's such a quaint environment with nice outdoor and indoor seating. Great customer service! Definitely my new study spot. Recently tried the basic latte - it was very tasty and flavorful without any additions. Also ordered the sunrise for a friend - she said it was delicious!
google avatar

Allison R.

Yelp
Just as expensive, if not more, the starbucks with way less sugar free options. Always crowded with poor service BUT the outside area is amazing!
google avatar

Vanessa L.

Yelp
POV's environment and view is my favorite out of all the coffee shops in the College Station/Bryan Area. There is a lot of natural lighting due to the glass walls and there is an outside patio with lots of tables and chairs too. It does get very crowded often and may be difficult to find seating sometimes. The drinks are more expensive than I would be willing to pay for, though.
google avatar

Echo L.

Yelp
A very good place. I like the pie here so much. The apple pie is very tasty. The coffee is good, a bit over sweet to me but it's okay. I like the environment here. Not too noisy or quiet but maintained a good level of "one can talk comfortably with their friends or one can focus on their work without problems". I like the natural light here during the morning time. Def a good coffee shop. Might try to do lunch here in the future

Farzana Q.

Yelp
POV is a new coffee shop that recently opened up right next to the Stella Hotel. The area itself is beautiful as it is in front of the Lakefront. The coffee shop has that brand new restaurant feel. It is super clean, has plenty of seats (both indoor and outdoor), and best of all-lots of power outlets! There's no doubt the look of this coffee shop is nice but the most important question is, "how is the coffee?" POV uses beans from Merit Coffee Roasting Co. from San Antonio. I ordered a caramel latte and my husband ordered a drip. My latte was more sweet than I would have liked and the drip was OK. The staff all seemed nice but we didn't feel like the quality of the coffee was that great. May be the lack of experience in coffee making as it is new. As far as food, there is a variety of sandwiches, salads, and desserts. We had a mudslide chocolate tart which was good.

Yelp
This is definitely my favorite study spot in the College Station/Bryan area! The view from the place is great and gets better the later it gets in the day. It's currently in an area in Bryan that's under development and I personally love how detached it is from the hustle and bustle of traffic closer to A&M's campus. The baristas are always such a pleasure to chat with and are pretty fast. The coffee is good depending on what you get and (this is weird) but somehow tastes like beef to me LOL. Especially the cappuccino. I definitely had to give P.O.V. Another try to get that taste out of my mouth. The one thing that I order every time that never fails me is an iced Sunset, and I'll be set until closing time. P.O.V. Does get busy during finals time but every coffee place does. Get there early to snag a good seat! There is not a shortage of plugs here unless you're sitting outside or the one long table in the middle of the coffee shop. Give this place a try and you'll be hooked.
google avatar

Julia W.

Yelp
Ended up getting a medium bonefire with a 10% ended up being over six dollars so more expensive then Starbucks plus i didn't really taste any of the other flavors just coffee and ice which is disappointing I was looking forward to the toasted marshmallow. The coffee was good but it is more on the expensive side.
google avatar

Sarah B.

Yelp
POV is definitely worth the visit. It's not in the middle of town so depending on where you live, it can be a bit of a drive. The atmosphere is by far the best thing they have going for them. The coffee shop is located outside of the Stella Hotel and the property is just beautiful. It overlooks a large pond and has a wonderful area to just stroll around outside. They have both outdoor and indoor seating options. The inside decor has a very modern feel and I love the family style table! Their special drink options are pretty good! My favorites include the Star, Sunset and Snowfall. Around Christmas they has had a lot of good seasonal drinks to try! The pastries are delicious too and I especially like the blueberry scone. Helpful hint, they have savings options on the Safe2Save app, so be sure to check those out! Atmosphere-wise, I don't think another coffee shop in town can beat this one. Pricing and quality-wise I think there are several others in town will win out. No matter, this is definitely a place you should try!
google avatar

Rebecca O.

Yelp
I have heard of this place because I live near by & just happened to go yesterday for the first time.... & I am in love!!!!! I loved it so much that I got up early to go study for a couple hours this morning and had the Charlie Brown which was one of the best coffees I've ever had!! I thought it was a great environment, staff and vibe!! I think this will be my new study spot & go-to coffee shop!
google avatar

Cass T.

Yelp
Ordered their sticky bun and latte. Sticky bun is quite large, hahaha. Good for sharing for two people with a light appetite, also good for 1 person with a large appetite.

Shruti R.

Yelp
I think this place is way too overpriced for the quality of pastries and coffee. I only come here if people want to meet up there to do work or if I have a lot of work to do and don't want to make the drive elsewhere. I've ordered espresso, London fogs and iced coffees here. The London fogs are fine but I paid a ridiculous price for it. Iced coffee was okay (but again not worth it) and the espresso wasn't so great The employees are always nice and accommodating but I am constantly surprised by the high prices. I would be fine paying that if I thought the quality of the coffee was good but unfortunately it's not.
google avatar

Asim M.

Yelp
Loved this place when it first opened up but I was disappointed coming back this semester and seeing it all changed. They had some of the best espresso I've ever tasted (and I'm a big coffee guy) but they changed their beans sometime over the summer. I believe they used to carry Merit Coffee out of San Antonio and it was incredible. This new vendor leaves a lot to be desired. They also don't have free WiFi anymore, you have to buy something for a code. It gets packed quick but the environment and aesthetic is very nice.

Cora D.

Yelp
Kind and patient staff. Great assortment of baked goods, including locally made bagels. Great variety of coffee drinks! Extensive indoor and outdoor seating. Atmosphere is 10/10.

Priscila M.

Yelp
The place is really cute and it's a nice study spot but the coffee is a bit overpriced however it's really good, but not really worth the amount that you're getting.

Spunky S.

Yelp
Pros: Lovely decor, quite place, has a great view of a lakewalk. Doubly awesome if you're sitting in the patio sipping on your beer or coffee while soaking in a beautiful sunset by the lake Cons: very few choices of coffee, beer or food. The servers always seem new (been here multiple times) and hence don't have much idea on the types of beer they have. Overall go for the lake side view And moderately acceptable drinks/ food.
google avatar

Mai P.

Yelp
A great place to study with friendly staff. Just overpriced. I got the peppermint white chocolate latte and wish I asked for less sugar. Suggestion: If you're going to charge that much for lattes, you should Mill-King brand milk :)

Ann K.

Yelp
Generally OK coffee, nothing great or amazing and a bit Luke warm. Ordered chocolate and elderberry croissants... barista asked if I wanted them warmed and I declined assuming they would be room temperature - however they were FROZEN, so I went back and asked to warm them a little... and was handed a lump of steaming hot pastry that was inedible. Won't be going back there... 1541 is much better coffee and pastry shop!!
google avatar

Ryan B.

Yelp
Very pretty area, and beggars can't be choosers, if you happen to be in the area and need some coffee. But the latte I got was so weak that it might be worth making the drive to another cafe.
google avatar

Truce P.

Yelp
Favorite coffeehouse in town! Incredibly modern with great lighting and lots of seating. Unfortunately it didn't take very long for all of a&m to find out about it so it does get very crowded on the weekends and weekday afternoons. Drinks are great and they have a happy hour every Thursday! Some pastry items are half off after 3pm everyday. Highly recommend for studying or meeting up with friends.
