Poway's Irish Pub

When is Rome, have a Guiness at the Irish Pub. If you're lucky, you'll get a clover in your drink. This is a quaint little Pub. They often have live music. The staff are chill and attentive. I haven't had the food there, yet, so I can't opine on their grub. However, drinks are well made. There's a strong local presence, too, which is cool.

Bar food... gotta keep that in mind.. but the food is always good. Portions are generous, and they have a full kitchen. Bartenders are also friendly and remember us and what we drink. I'm not a fan of the bands that play because it's a very small venue, and they ALWAYS play wayyyyyyy too loud, and it sounds horrible. All in all... we love this bar 🍸

The food and drinks here are the best We had a BLT onion rings were fantastic and lemon pepper wings. Those wings are freaking great!! The bartenders are super friendly. They have a fantastic patio with games. It's just a fun place to hang out lots of TVs. My favorite spot in Poway.

Haven't been here in 5 years, but NOTHING has changed. This is a very local dive bar. It's very dark and the music is really loud. There are only 2 medium-sized TV's right behind the bar. Beer tap selection is very limited. Coors, Bud, IPA's, and one import Stella. The bartender we had was lively and attentive eventhough the bar was full. They have one pool table and a jukebox. There's also a small patio. The biggest draw to this place is the food (it's good!), and live music. I had the Guiness Stew ($13) which was loaded with large chunks of tender beef, potatoes, carrots, and topped with whipped potatoes. A slice of buttered, toasted, roll was included. It was quite tasty. My buddy got a chicken sandwich with fries ($16) which looked very good. The fries are the bomb. Prices range from $12 for a quesedilla (plain), $16 for a basic burger, and $20 for fish & chips Add a couple of draught beers and you're looking at an average of $40-$50 bar tab per person.

The food was really good and the place definitely reminded me of something reminiscent to an irish pub. The only drawback of the restaurant is the staff made things a little confusing in the way that it was not clear whether I order at the bar or if the staff would come to my table to take my order.

Get the stew. Thank me later. Don't be intimidated by the locals, but know this is the local watering hole. Wings are amaaaazzingggg. Don't bother with wing stop across the parking lot... burgers. Burgers are amazing too. Basically, the Poway Irish Pub is the best place to hang out in all of Poway.

The serving portion of cod was huge, and that's what she said. Great food. So 1 visit the next week. The meat has never thicker. Fish and chips!

They have Guinness on tap and we got their delicious and hearty shepherd's pie and a Guinness stew which was also delicious and hearty. The meat was really soft and flavorful. The potatoes especially were really good! I got a Caesar Salad as well, no complaints there. Also the entrees came with rolls and butter and honey! Nice bonus! We just hung out at the bar. The bartenders were really friendly and nice ladies to chat with about beers and stuff. My only complaint was I thought the music was a bit too loud but I am kinda sensitive to that stuff... so I would just bring my earmuffs next time. It's not really a problem.

While visiting from out of town, we wanted somewhere with a local feel (but also welcoming to non-locals) with live music and Poway's Irish Pub hit the mark. We came on a Friday night around 9:30 and the place was full so no open seats, but we were able to order drinks pretty quick. Nothing fancy, just traditional bar drinks. The cover bad was good, there was a small dance floor area, and a pool table in back. It was a mixed crowd of different ages so it was the right fit for our group. Overall a great night

Is it just me or are pubs such a fun switch up for a restaurant to eat at? My friend and I came in after we had gone for a long hike so we were ready to chow down. You order your food at the bar and then they bring it to your table. We both got the shepherds pie and it was different than any other shepherds pie I've ever had. I would say the meat part was more liquidy and the ratio of meat to potatoes definitely skewed heavy on the meat side , which is never a bad thing. It was a very hearty and comforting meal to eat. This is such a fun spot they even had karaoke that was just starting and some really awesome decorations.

My fiance and I came here on a Saturday afternoon and we were almost the only ones there. Not that that was a bad thing. Food was surprisingly good for a pub. Definitely will come back

I went looking for an Irish Pub experience. It's really more bar then pub. The outside area has some games and is the smoking area. There is a pool table and music inside. I was hoping for a "Hooleys North". This was not that. If you're looking to drink, likely your spot. Just not mine.

First things first, let's establish that this is a bar. It is a real don't bring your kids with you bar. This is not a bad thing, but if you have your kiddos in tow you will be disappointed, because they won't be going in. Next thing, the beer is ice cold, the waitress was friendly and attentive, and the food was good. Not like I'm too drunk to care good, but mmmm this food is good with this ice cold beer good. The Paddy Balls are listed on the menu as a must have. This is not a lie or an exaggeration, you should order these, they are delicious! We also had the fish and chips and fish and onion rings. Both side options were tasty, but I'd say the fries had the edge. The fish was nice and flaky. They had a tartar sauce and an aioli and they pair perfectly. So if you are looking for a no frills, real bar, with tasty food then this is your place.

wings were pretty good, loved their ranch! got a lager I forgot what I got but it was refreshing! staff was friendly, played good music, had sports on TV! parking was easy! they had some arcade games and a pool table! but you have to pay :/ other than that would stop by if in the mood for some beer! not busy or crowded at all

We always see off of Poway road, we had a few hours and wanted to try a new place so we stopped by. We walked on around 3:30 Saturday and the place was pretty packed. Everyone was really nice and welcoming, truly like your friendly neighborhood bar. Music was playing and everyone was smiling, chatting, and laughing. We got fries which came in a decent sized basket and had two sides of probably some of the best ranch I've ever had. They have a decent sized menu with some tasty looking bar bites. My husband got a Coors Light (draft) and I got a double Jameson and club soda. Wow, what a drink! I was asked short or tall and of course I chose short and it packed a punch. The bartender was always smiling and was tending to not only us sitting at the bar but to those sitting indoors and outside and she was very attentive to everyone. Super friendly and makes the best drinks. An awesome local place!

This is my favorite pub in the area! The food here is great, i don't t think I have ever had anything here I didn't like. The rich nachos are delicious and a must try. There's a little outdoor area if you wanna get some air and they have live music some nights. It's a great local spot to have a drink and kick back.

Could use better clean kitchen. Always smells. Being in Poway folks pay good money for service and then you should up your game. Bands are for older senior. They have the potential for great business and better customer service.

They actually havel Irish food like Shepherds Pie. Wings are excellent. Drinks are strong. Bartenders are fast and nice to us. Good local hangout.

Dive bar. BUT a good one. Juke box is AMI, so you can select songs if you have the application on your phone. I had the potato balls. Pretty good and came with two sauces. Drinks were good price. Friendly service. Folks in bar seemed chill. Overall: recommended!

I wanted to like the place but I was disappointed. The food wasn't bad but I thought the two bartenders were rude.

Nice bar, band was awesome tonight, 3-7-25. Punk ass bartender white guy with a hat bitching about me lighting a joint out on the smoking patio when other dude was smoking one right on the other side. Didn't say shit to him, I guess it's a locals only bar so I bounced fuck that. So if you're not local don't go here. Went there with family also. Oh well didn't buy no drink anyways didn't get none of my money.

Great Vibe inside this bar. The staff is quick with service and very friendly. Great drink selection and tasty food. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a good Irish pub.

I can only speak for the sandwiches, which we got to go. We ordered two Club sandwiches with onion rings. The sandwiches were gigantic! My son can usually pack away food and I don't even think he was able to eat half the sandwich. The onion rings also were good. We stopped in quick for our food. It looks like your typical neighborhood bar: Sports on TV, a pool table, a small stage for music. Sandwiches were pricey: about $15, but one sandwich is at least a two-person meal. Service was fine; as you'd expect for a small bar in a strip mall. Worth a stop in, at least for the food.

This is a great dive bar in the center of Poway. Great drinks, pool table, loud music, and lots of friendly locals. If you need a break an outside area for smokers or just grabbing some fresh air. We have stopped by several times for their tap beer (which is a great selection).

Absolutely disgusting place. If you are a POC they will be racist towards you and the staff does absolutely nothing. Went in last night to celebrate my brother's birthday, they paid for the pool table to play at and the people standing there were saying if you want the table you gotta lose to us which was stupid bc WE PAID FOR THE TABLE. Then he continued by calling us habibis and the bartender was absolutely unprofessional when we asked her to kick him out bc we felt uncomfortable she said she will but she sat him at the bar instead laughing with him about the situation. If I could give this place 0 starts I would. It was my first time going to this place and I will never return. Just know if you go to this place the staff don't care about your comfortability. Absolutely disgusting place.

Came to hang out and grab some food and beers with some friends but the place was so dark you couldn't see anything and the music so loud you couldn't hear the person talking right next to you. We ended up leaving and going somewhere else. Disappointing.

The music was so loud everyone was yelling at each other to converse and I could not hear my husband next to me. We would have sat outside but there were people smoking. It's unfortunate as we were really looking forward to the menu.

Great Irish pints, tasty bites and good service. Will definitely come back for some live music next time!

Cheap drinks. Live music. Incredible staff amd service. Delicious food. You can't ask for more in a local pub. It has that true pub feel. Pool tables. Outdoor patio with a washer game. Plenty of seats at tables or at the bar. A truly fantastic local spot. My brother and his wife come here every week and decided to take me along tonight while I was in town. Josh and Rob took great cars of us and the drinks were nice and strong. Not what I am used to at all living in UT. We ate dinner before we got there but we couldn't resist getting something to snack on while we were hanging out. They ordered a basket of fries and I ordered the Paddy's Balls. The fries were not very crispy but they were nicely salted and I like that they still had some skins on them. The Paddy's balls were unbelievable. Whoever invented those, you get a huge kudos from me. Cheesy mashed potatoes that have breading on the outside and are fried?!?! Hell yes. They come served with some ranch on the side and holy cow are they scrumptious. Genius bar food. Their menu is pretty large and I don't think you could go wrong with anything on there. Tonight they had Miss Demeanor playing live and they had a great mix of 80s rock with current popular songs. Great way to keep the crowd amped up and dancing. We had a best time and it's no wonder my brother comes gete all the time. I will be back for sure while I'm in town and I will be sure to stop in every time I am in town.

Everything you want in your local dive bar. The bartender remembers your name and knows your order before you even open your mouth! Wings are good, as is the Guinness stew. The staff is above and beyond and the jukebox is always at the right volume.

Went here for the first time on Sunday, after driving past it hundreds of times and saying I wanted to go there. I'm happy to say that it lived up to my expectations! Great service, with delicious food and drinks. We will be going back!

Cheap drafts! Really great value in an unpretentious down to earth spot you can really relax in. As the bartender put it, "We're not that fancy." They have a good selection of drinks. I'm not sure if I was getting happy hour prices, but I think this is the least I've paid for brand drafts. They have bar food. It soaks up the beer in your stomach most effectively. Live music! Hit it on those days and you will find a bustling popular noisy vibe going on. Other times, it's a quiet spot where you can have a nice conversation. Wouldn't recommend it as a place to bring a date, unless you already know each other well. Great spot to grab a few drinks with friends after work! Parking lot is kind of small. It can be difficult to find parking if you hit the rush. Cute patio that is dog friendly!

I grew up in Poway. Loved Coming here with all my Poway friends, mostly locals for 15 years maybe more. I Recommended a Co-worker to go with his friends to The Poway irish pub, When they got there it was CLOSED at 12:35am on 10/11/23. I myself today on 10/12 went there at 12:35am to see if they were open cause YELP AND GOOGLE says that they are open till 2:00am...............This place gone downhill or what. When I got there 2 drunk couple in a Tundra was in front of the pub with some hispanic chick with a baby blue backpack, I kindly asked if they were open, the blonde passenger in the Tundra said it was open and the hispanic chick said it was not. I raised my voice and asked if it was open and they said yes and tip them well please like 20 bucks the Blonde drunk passenger said. I asked ok I know this place and I tried pulling the door and it was closed. Stupid drunk blonde and hispanic chick are just damn rude and disrespectful. Great Drunk locals you keep around in front of the Pub. This place was fun once upon a time. Now it's just drunk rude locals that love to hangout at after hours in front of the pub. When I was walking back to my car a person in a black hoodie came out of the Pub that was closed and i asked nicely why the Pub isn't open till 2:00am??? and he said hes not the owner. Looks like a hangout spot for the owners friends.....who knows. Atleast change your Closing times on Google and Yelp accordingly so theres NO Confusion. I ended up going to the Irish pub in Carmel Mountain which was open till 2am. Good Beer too I totally recommend for a late night beer after 12:45am. Not being open when Google maps and Yelp said they are open till 2am........If it's because of too many accidents on the 67 I totally understand. Just save people not wasting their time coming to a pub that is supposed to be open till 2am isn't. Usually I do not write something like this but in this case it needed to be escalated. Great Pub in the day time though!

I have to say- this is one of my favorite haunts. Always a cool crowd, fun things going on during the week and the food is by far my favorite pub food. Do yourself a favor and have the Irish stew. I e had most things in the menu- they do everything very very well- and you just don't see that very often.

I stopped in for lunch. Excellent food and the atmosphere is divey. It's a pub. You like it or you don't. I will go back since the food was pretty good and perfect for an unrushed lunch.

Came for trivia last night, great host and the ambiance was perfect. The food and drinks are great and not too expensive. Food portions are huge! The service however is a completely different story. 2 bartenders for the entire place, they were busy (not surprising) and just waiting to get a menu took a long time. One bartender was pretty polite, but the other one seemed annoyed whenever I asked for anything, food OR drinks. He was rude to me and my entire party (they brought it up once I pointed out his behavior). Very condescending and sarcastic little comments when trying to order a simple drink. Not sure if I'd go back.

This is an update. Came in on Sat @ 2p, place was already crowded. Got their regular Pub Cheeseburger, but there was nothing regular about it. It was OUTSTANDING. The patty was at least 1/2 lb and fresh. The bun was a brioche and you can choose from cheddar (real cheddar not Kraft slices), pepper jack, & Swiss. The lettuce was crisp and the red onions were actually sweet. The salt & pepper fries were fresh like at In & Out only BETTER. Burger is served with fries and costs $10.50. I kid you not, it was a gourmet burger and worth every penny. Service was fast. Got Stella Artois on tap for only $5.50 for a 16oz pour. The cook is really an unsung hero. No matter what you order he does not disappoint. Jessica the bartender is always a blast. PIP=good food, good beer, good service. So why aren't you there now?!

My first time trying food at the Irish Pub. It's a dive bar but that doesn't bother me. A friendly bartender took my phone order to-go and I was told a 15-20 minute pick up time; it ended up being more like 35 minutes, so I just waited more...even though it was only 2pm and not busy. I got home and the Pub Cheeseburger wasn't very good. The cook forgot the bacon that I paid extra for...and the cheese. (*Note - Customers hate that when that happens). I love burgers but this one was a real disappointment, dry with no condiments. The Onion Rings were good and crunchy. The Fish & Chips were fantastic! Huge flakey cod fish filets that actually had flavor. I'll go back but just for the Fish & Chips even though the fries were soggy.

Today I wanted to try Irish food so I came here to this pub for some semi authentic cuisine. I ordered a Grilled Corn Beef Sandwich on Rye that came with a side of chips and I also ordered the famous Paddy Balls which came with sides of ranch and chipotle dressing. Everything was actually really good! I came in with lower expectations simply because Irish food is one of the more blander food cultures in the world, but I was really taken back by the Paddy Balls, wow! I also tried Corn Beef for the first time ever and I thought it wasn't as bad as I thought. Prices were a little high here but I guess that's expected for a Pub. Definitely a cool spot to hit up for Pub food!

Love this place. Only complaint is the music is sooooooo loud. Food is great, service is great.

This is not an Irish Pub. I emailed the place because I wanted to celebrate my 40th years old, on Wednesday, and I asked if they had a live band, and they said "no, but on Wednesdays we have - Name that tune - a very fun game from 7-9pm" so I decided to give it a try. I invite a couple of friends and I arrived there at 6h30p. I got in shocked when I entered the place: it was playing Rap/Hip Hop songs VERY LOUD (really - I cant stand this music style - but because I thought this was an Irish Pub, they would play some kind of rock n roll?). My husband and I sat in a table (it was dirty, but the other table was also dirty so...)... the place was empty, around 8/9 people there.... I saw a girl with the place shirt drinking at the bar, I believe it was a waitress, but in 20 min - no one - no one - came to serve or talk to us. After that, a guy screams from the bar "Hey, are you waiting for someone?" . I felt extremely weird. We said, yes a couple of friends. After 20 minutes finally the guy turn off the loud hip hop and the music was better. We got up and pick the menu at the bar and .... really, a sandwich $14? Well my friends arrived at 7p, and we waited for more 15 min. No one. No "game". Nothing. So we left and went to another place. I have been to Irish Pubs, and I can say, this was the most unfriendly pub I have ever been. We were in 4 people, and that was our first time there - and maybe the last (I hope no - I hope something change - that is the reason of this long review).

I called in an order for fish and chips and a small Caesar salad to go. As I arrived 10 minutes the order was waiting for me. There were two large pieces of delicious cod, the fries were a little soggy but crisped up quickly in the frying pan, and the salad was crisp and tasty. $20!! This is my go to for fish and chips!

Really terrible meal tonight. Halfway through my hamburger I bit into something that felt like sand. Don't know if it was from the hamburg or what, but that was the end of dinner. The meat also had a lot of gristle. When I told the waitress about the hamburger her only comment was in the six years she has worked there no one has ever complained about the hamburger. So I guess I was imagining it? Also the patio is full of smokers so if you're looking to sit outside in the fresh air you won't be.

Came here for a birthday celebration...sat down. Was there for 10 min with no acknowledgment. Noted 5 people behind the bar. We decided to leave due to poor service....guess the main area outside the bar isn't important. No worries, we will find another place to spend our money!

Was really looking forward to having a local water hole...this was far from it. This place was absolutely filthy. Service was horrible and people were hammered drunk when we walked in EARLY afternoon. Took a glance at the menu, was hoping for the best; but the bad company and filth drove us out.

The food was fantastic and the service was excellent. We stopped by after going to the shooting range and were not disappointed!

It's a really nice place I hope what I heard about the lease being lost is not true. It's a whose who of poway. I've had the best memories here especially with the live band on Saturday nights . There is no telling who you can meet here. I've never tried the food but the beers are great. My favorite was when I met a special girl here almost half my age and I'm never going to forget her and of course the after party at the best western

I freaking love this place as many times has the red necks have try and kick me out I keep coming back, lol!. The owner is freaking chill bar tenders are sexy and freaky cool personality's they make me feel like family.

Bad customer service guaranteed. Called here 3:45pm Sept 3rd. 2021. Was gona bring 20 friends here tonite but the chic that answered the phone jus ruins it for this place. Said she doesn't know what time they close, what band, if u havto wear masks, etc. All she knew is what TIME she gets off. Wth. Im headed to Kellys Pub now. What a shame it is for this business. Wil tell all my friends in Poway and Scripps Ranch. Rediculous employee.
