Powder Keg

This is a great place to host all types of events. Have a volleyball court they have pickleball they have a beautiful venue. If you ever have a large event you want to have a friendly place with lots of parking this is the place to do it. This event I was at today was the Brazilian international festival, it was also their Brazilian independence celebration. It was amazing it all sorts of different foods and beautiful dancers came out at the end.

First time at this place and we loved it. It's an open space, outdoors with volleyball courts, tennis or pickeball courts in the back. I noticed a bounce house for the kids. It's family and dog friendly. We visited because of the crawfish. They usually have Phil's Crawfish on the weekends and they do AYCE crawfish. This weekend was 25 dlls per person. Crawfish had a good flavor with most of them medium size, some small and some large. All employees were very nice and attentive. They were trying to keep the place clean at all times. Even though it's outside they have fans/coolers all over. You can also bring your own. Food wise they only had the crawfish and some taco stand. Drinks are fairly priced. Overall it was a good experience. We would be back. I recommend it.

Powder Keg is an outdoor event venue with a large pavilion-like covered area. A shipping container has been reimagined to serve all kinds of beverages. Another has been reclaimed as a restroom. There are pickleball courts and sand volleyball courts. Food trucks may be there but I didn't see any. We were celebrating an adult birthday while at the same time another group was celebrating a kids' birthday, and it worked out perfectly. Both groups had bounce houses and catered food from outside. I loved it!

Its 100% outdoor so beware if you are looking for a cool spot. That said, the cocktails were outstanding and the selection of whiskeys is at least interesting. I highly recommend stopping by in the evening or during cooler weather.

Bar has a nice selection of liquors and beers. 4 sand volleyball courts, inquire within about reservations and open play. Fully enclosed dog park. Taco stand with bomb tacos. TVs and plenty of seating. A hidden gem.

So cute !! It costs 50$ for volleyball rental and you can drink 50 dollars worth . Also there is a pickleball court ! They support animals ! Also outdoor and spacious. I do wish they had food - apparently some days they have sometimes not .

Drinks were good and this establishment had plenty of activities for the whole family. Seating was spaced out so you are not on top of one another. The crawfish was really good and reasonably priced.

Fun Yelp inspired Pet poloza at Powder Keg with funds going to rescues.Although we were hoping to adopt as advertised, there were no rescues at this event. No worries, we had fun playing ping pong and the kids working the event were amazing as they ran around retrieving our wind guided ping pong balls flying off the table. Would recommend for an outside event for drinks and volleyball .

I've been coming to Powder Keg for +2 years now, and it used to be a 5/5 place to hang out. Now, it's hovering a 1/5 or 2/5 so this long overdue review averages out to a 3/5. Happy hour is Open-6PM on weekdays. $5 drafts, $4 frozen drinks, $4 shots, reportedly. The hours are on their site but the specials aren't really posted anywhere that I noticed. They also have a $3 "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" or "Brown Bag Special" that's a random beer for $3 anytime. I've gotten 20+ of these over the years and it's anything from a PBR, Coors, pickle or jalapeno beer, or a nice draft IPA if you get lucky. There's tons of parking and the bar is fully open. Usually come to hang out when walk-in is available on the volleyball courts. They have an online reservation system at $50/hour, but accept walk-ins while there are no reservations. In my experience, larger groups tend to book for an hour or two and then stay on the court and not let anyone else take it. Smaller groups are usually happy to rotate in games with other groups. The hours were recently updated, but were incorrect for a while. Some new bartenders would close the bar whenever and rudely turn the lights on and off on the volleyball courts without coming to mention anything. They don't post holiday hours or any notice on closures. What really drops my score of Powder Keg is the new policy on booking courts on the same day. This is not possible on their online reservation system, so we came with 12 people expecting to walk in and agreed with another group to take the court after their reservation ended. As soon as we start playing, another group comes by and says they paid the bartender cash to reserve the court on the spot and kick us off. Cool, that's not anywhere in the policy. We let it slide and asked to reserve a different court, at which point the bartender said that they were all booked. This was blatantly incorrect, as we asked another group if they had a reservation and they said "no" and allowed us to play in. So, the new bartenders are clearly discriminatory. Lastly, the kids after 9PM rule is strongly dependent on who is bartending. I've seen kids after 9 often and some bartenders turn a blind eye, whereas another threatened to report my friend to the police if he brought his children again. Sometimes, they host cool events and bring live music. I've always seen people have fun at those. Overall, I will still come to Powder Keg as an option for sand volleyball in West Houston but the new bartending staff is much ruder than before. Such a great place to come relax with friends or coworkers in the evenings! Their courts are generally well maintained (aside from the times where kids are there right before you and have been building sandcastles). Plenty of fun drinks and happy hour is the best! They have a food truck outside which hits different after a good sand vball session! Also very dog friendly! They have a separate park are for dogs to hang out at!

We came here for a private work event - the space is no fuss but provides all you would need for a fun team building event/afternoon out with friends. They utilize old shipping containers for most of the facilities (minus the old warehouse converted into an open-walled space for the cover), so it has a laid back and industrial vibe to it. Nice bartenders, good drinks, and lots to do. Plenty of parking, too!

Nice place to spend the afternoon in a large open covered outdoor venue. Lots of activities including table tennis, bean bag toss and a sand volleyball game. Bring your own table tennis paddles. Have a fur baby? There is a nice open dog park to let your puppy run around safely. Hungry? Grab a bite from the taqueria. Thirsty? Go to the cargo container painted with graffiti for something to drink. Lots of picnic tables and screens throughout to watch the game. Would be a nice place for Sunday Family Funday or a birthday party.

ADD... Pickball courts?! PLEASE! Fun place they have room to add some Pickleball courts than this place would be awesome!! Fastest growing sport in America. And close to my house. Everything else about this place is already great so no complaints.

Attended a catered birthday party there. The kids loved playing volleyball!! Great covered area with plenty of seating.

Fun night here!!!! Bar Staff was Awesome, Margaritas too. You can order from food trucks, but only one was there last Friday Night. You can also bring food in. We order pizza!

Are you a fan of: Dogs, volleyball, food, or drinks? Any or all of the above can be found here! I had never been before Pristine C. Decided to throw a dawg pawty for Teddy's first birthday. The place is large, with more than enough room for multiple groups. They come equipped with a number of sand volleyball courts, a fenced in dog park, food trucks, a full bar, and a massive covered pavilion. The staff at the bar were super fast and pleasant. The facility requires masking when not seated (YASSSSS!!!!), and has sanitizer at the door. It was a great day out, in a great location, with a pack of cute furballs roaming around. Can't get better than that.

I met a friend here to grab some drinks. It's a nice place to have a drink and enjoy some fresh air! Service was good and didn't take long at all to get our drinks. I can't speak much on the sand volleyball except everyone was super friendly and even let my friend play a few games with them.

Pretty cool place for people who like the outdoors / open air bars / volleyball / parks. The bar is a cargo container, very well stocked with unique beers and drinks. Pretty wild this place isn't more packed. Great location. Keep it in your bookmarks.

Well Houston... YOU'VE DONE IT AGAIN! Ain't no place like a joint where they cater to you and your pup! Hidden in spring branch area, this awesome gem has a little of fun for everyone. They have everything from cornhole to sand volleyball. They have a bar area with TVs surrounding the covered patio and only feet away from the little dog park they have. I have to say... the dog park could be a lot bigger considering the space they are using. They should make an oasis for these guys! Throw in the whole 9 yards! Very cool atmosphere where you can watch your favorite sports team (aka Rockets, Astros, Texans) with family and your furry family too. Highly recommended and very happy I finally got to try this place out.

This place is awesome, but it's NOT a kid's playground. We came for the Texans game, and there were small children running around everywhere with no supervision. The kids were even going in and out of the dog park freely. They came in screaming and yelling and charging at the dogs. One kid ran in and just scooped up a random dog. I saw the owner looking a bit shocked standing to the side, so I had to ask the kid not to grab other people's dogs without asking first. Although this kid understood me, the rest were still running around with their hands out, touching and grabbing other people's dogs. Again, there were no parents around. These kids could have gotten seriously hurt, or the dogs could've gotten hurt. On the other side, some people were playing volleyball, and there were kids playing all over the sand. A stray ball could also really hurt a child, or something else could happen. Please watch your dogs and your kids for the safety of everyone, and please be considerate of others who are here to enjoy themselves, too.

We attended a dog pawty! We had so much fun. The place was nice. Bartenders were super friendly. My pup even got dog beer Frozen margs we're really good!! 10/10

Just discovered this place yesterday on Yelp because we were looking for a good patio bar to watch the Astros. This place fits the bill perfectly! 16 big screen high-def TV's, plenty of seating, really cool patrons and great drink choices. There's a food truck onsite that has some great smelling and tasty looking tacos and such but haven't tried it yet. Probably will tonight. Great for dog lovers also; it's also a dog park! All of the dogs we've met so far are very well behaved They have sand volleyball courts too for those who prefer a more active outing. Don't be dissuaded by the bathrooms being in a portable building, they have been fully finished inside and are super nice. Better than most bathrooms in a lot of sports bars. This is the perfect place for fall weather outings. Look forward to coming here over the next few weeks. Hope they get heaters for the winter.

Went to see Astros game with friends on a Tuesday night Parking: There was plenty of parking. I loved that about this establishment. No need to circle around etc. Drinks: Price wise they're pretty standard. I'm not sure how the happy hours are honestly. Our friends got margaritas and they said they were pretty strong! We got a bottle of bubbles. I do wish they had more drink options as well in terms of beers etc Food: they had a taco food truck and it's amazing! Atmosphere: they have several TVs and they were turned up so it was easy to watch the game! I would say that I wish they had more seating/tables especially for situations like Astros playing the in the world series lol. A they have sand volleyball courts as well. You have to rent those tho. Service: there aren't any servers/waiters so you have to go to the bar to get drinks and the taco truck to get food Overall great concept especially for Spring Branch. I do wish they had more menus, more seating and servers. But overall I had a great time and this place has so much potential. I'll def be back! Solid 4 stars.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE FIND A WAY TO KEEP THE DOG PARK AREA DRY.... The volleyball court shower is right next to the dog area and ALL the water drains into the dog park. The kids played in the water ALL night and therefore there was no relief. Not sure who thought it was a good idea to place the showers there but it really makes the dog park a muddy mess in one area. Ok so now for the good stuff!!! Love love love the outdoor concept! Plus I was super excited that we could bring our dog to play. Despite him being a muddy mess when we left he had a great time playing with the other dogs. Drinks were really good. And there were plenty of tvs to watch the game. The restrooms were clean and air conditioned. There was one Mexican food truck there. I'm hoping they have more trucks when we return. Overall....We enjoyed it! Just didn't like the muddy dog park.

My first visit to the Powder Keg last week courtesy of a work event! Great location, ample no hassle parking is a plus. The vibe was chill and laid back in the Spring Branch area near City Centre. This is an all outdoor bar! Also has a small dog activity/park, along with an area for volleyball. For food there were 3 food trucks near by! I got food from the taco truck and it was pretty good. The Powder Keg also serves really nice house cocktails. I ordered a Blazzing Saddle shout out to the mixologist Amir (sp) who suggested it I love the use of shipping containers for the bar area and bathrooms, really cool concept. Def could use more seating, I could see this space getting super busy on a Sunday. I'd definitely return.

bar + beach volleyball + dog park = great time. I went here for a corgi meet up. My dog loved meeting all his new friends and I enjoyed being able to drink while playing with him. The bartenders were friendly and nice and parking is plentiful. They have a shower for those who need to hose off after playing volleyball. There's also a hose in the dog park area to give you pups a quick rinse or some water.

Great patio bar with plenty of TVs to watch the games and a good sized dog part for your pets to socialize and run free. There is plenty of parking onsite so you won't have to go find a place to park on the street. The staff is friendly. Decent cocktails and a decent selection of beer. Pretty cool how they have it set up inside of shipping containers. The sand volleyball courts can be reserved in advance and there's also table tennis and Cornhole. The website mentioned food trucks but there weren't any when I went, maybe because they just opened. Will update the next time I go. Loved my first visit.

If I could give negative review I would. HelloThey sell a bucket of 6 no for $30 dollars. There servi yesce is nopiss poor. I don't recommend this place to even my worst enemy call mom

I really enjoyed this place and feel like it will only get better. They have around 4 beers on tap, plus a wine and cocktail list. I had a drink with gin, Prosecco, and strawberry. It was light and refreshing, and I normally do not like gin. There are machines with frozen margs and frosé--I tried both and thought they were good. They also had a couple fishbowl/shareable drinks on the menu too, which sound like they're worth investigating. There's 16 or so TVs with major channels plus the SEC network. Lots of picnic table seating. Food trucks supposed to start mid-October, but you can order food to be delivered. (I highly recommend getting Grimaldi's if you want good pizza.) Sand volleyball courts, a dog park area, plentiful parking, and my personal favorite touch...string lights. Definitely a place to check out for a relaxing evening with friends!

Very cool place. Celebrated my daughter's 21st birthday here and we all had a blast. It's under a new management. The new manager, Jessica was very helpful. Just be patient. She is trying to get to the voicemail from the old management. Sand volleyball, table tennis, dog park, bean bag toss boards, food trucks, good music, TV screens galore.... what more could you ask for.

Cool spot where you can play volleyball. 1 star because I feel like they price gouged for liquor. Ordered 5 shots of Codigo Reposado (George Straight's tequila). $98 for 5 shots? That's the same price at a night club for at least Don Julio 1942 which that is at least a top shelf tequila. Immediately left because I felt ripped off or maybe profiled and charged more. This was on a Saturday at 2:00 in the afternoon. Won't ever come back to a place like this.

10 04 19. Excellent drinks, great staff, nice owner (talented with a sharpie.) CG got together for a social gathering and found the place to be perfect for us. Dog friendly with a dog park, sand volleyball, ping pong, cornhole, and lots of seating. The structure is a shell of a previous building, so in extreme temps or rain, they may close. Drinks! The Blazing Saddle and Sandy Springs are delicious and perfect for tequila lovers. Johnny and Justin are prepared to make any changes to a drink recipe or create something from scratch. As for food, they're still working that out. For now, pick up some pizza or sandwiches o your way. I highly recommend this spot!

The only outdoor bar in Houston with NO FANS. Only visit during the 1-2 months of cooler weather. Prepare to sweat comfortably. Staff was friendly and efficient. I love the dog friendly concept. But serious... why no fans??

Watched the World Series here. Fun place to watch a ball game. Loved that they put the game on so you can hear it.

Such a creative and fun concept. The drinks and food trucks are pricey but worth it based on the environment. So many things to do while getting fresh air and sunshine. We love the cocktail menu and bartenders are great and friendly. Most dogs that come are sweet and adorable. Hopefully the people that bring aggressive dogs will stop or get their pooch some training. Volleyball is so fun and other games available. Perfect for parties or group meetings. If not served at the Powder Keg--you are allowed to bring certain food & beverage on site.

Went to a work get-together with husband and our 3 teenagers. It was fun!! We played a game of volleyball and a co-worker brought board games. We all had food from the food trucks and it was all really good! This is a really neat, family friendly, place. The huge covered area is breezy and nice to get out of the heat.

So if there is one thing I love about this spot is the food truck that's parked outside for taco TUESDAYS!!! Andaluz* (spell check). The hibiscus tacos are AMAZING and the strawberries Fresca with coconut milk. YUM!!! Usually powder keg has volleyball nets up for people to play nit sure if they're leagues or free play but it's poppin during the evening time! They have nice throwback music and cute chill spot to sit if you need to and they have space heaters/towers which is really good for when times get cold. Def go check this cute ducked off spot out!

I would come with my boyfriend and his coworkers out to play volleyball until today that we were playing on a UNRESERVED net and this white lady came up to us demanding to let her and her husband have the court when we were there first . They then came again threatening us if we wanted to get the cops called on because the lady came at us all disrespectfully about her not getting her way and the court . Enough to say that the court was unreserved but somehow the staff kicked us out although we didn't do anything wrong and they knew that . Not sure if this was because of race or she had some privileges on top of us that we were unaware of but definitely put a different image for this place ! Save your time unless you like that type of arrogance coming your way either by staff or the people that go there :/

This might sound a little odd, but the Powder Keg is one my favorite winter bars! All of the times I have come have been during colder weather, and I loved the vibes of people and families out playing volleyball in their sweaters while some of us set aside under blankets with a cold beer and heat lamp by our sides. It's definitely a strange way to open a review, but I'd recommend this experience to anyone once the weather cools down. There are plenty of beer options-- no matter the season. And recently, there has been options for food- like tacos and other food truck related items. Dogs are welcome, in fact, encouraged here. There's a designated (and quite large) dog park on the entire side lining the volleyball courts. By the way, there's 4 of those! And are first come, first serve. Pardon the pun. The location is actually incredible too-- a quiet spot just off of Brittmoore and easy to miss if you aren't looking for it, even though it's quite large and the volleyball courts should be a great giveaway. Definitely check it out if you're in the area and have some down time!

We finally got a place in Spring Branch that can compete with bars inside the loop! I really love this place and it's our new go-to spot for gathering with friends (and sometimes the dog). The ambience is casual and fun for a nice day outside - plus fans, heat lamps, and a bit of cover if it's not. Powder Keg really has everything: cornhole, ping pong tables, tvs, a dog park, and full-size volleyball courts. Other perks: There is plenty of parking. They also have a taco truck on site too, with authentic and delicious options. I wish I could give this place 5 stars, but... Cons: Drink prices are high, especially for a neighborhood bar. For some reason they dont have the bathrooms labeled. You just have to guess or ask around. It would cost around $10 to get signs, so I'm not sure why they don't have any. And the worst thing: So many kids! This is a family-friendly place, and there are just way too many kids here. Last weekend there 10+ kids playing in the sand in the middle of a volleyball court..no idea where the parents were. When we finally did get another court I felt anxious having my dog on the sidelines- an unattended kid kept trying to pet him. Then some other (again, unattended) kids took our extra volleyball and ran across our court while we played. I hated being on constant alert that a kid wont get hurt. This place may turn out to be more for families then young bar-goers, but I'm hopeful.

Surprised I haven't been here sooner! After dinner, we wanted a chill place to hang out and watch the game. Stumble across this awesomeness. I love the open concept of it! Very spacious and airy. They also have open volleyball courts, cornhole, ping pong, and a food truck! Plenty of TVs for sports night. Best part is that, it's super dog friendly!! They have water bowls out for the doggies, treats, and an area for them to play. Loved. Totally could see ya coming back for more SUNDAY FUNDAY!

The space was a nice outdoor spot but the pop up crawfish spot ran out after one an hour. They were Not prepared.

The drinks are over priced , the bartender was very rude and the volleyball is expensive.

I wish I had known about this place sooner! My boyfriend and I have been looking for places around Houston that have a volleyball court where we didn't have to provide the net like at Memorial Park. We found this gem from this couple we met at the park. They have bean bag toss, a couple of table tennis tables, & 4 regulation sized sand volleyball courts. It's open play unless they have reservations. When we went last night (Friday), 3 courts were open. They also have a shower for you to wash your feet after you play. I really liked this place. You come drink, play volleyball, & there is a really good taco truck in the parking lot. We will definitely be back!

Neat place but coolers are disgusting. Beer had slime all over it. Food trucks were not opened when they were supposed to be.

I love this place. Very cool venue with so much space!! The only drawback is the court reservation system. I wish they would open up reservations weekly or something because I was wanting to host a regular event for a singles group here but the courts are completely booked for MONTHS on Tuesday nights. Unfortunately we are gonna have to find a different venue. :(

Reserved for an after hours team building but we were treated disrespectfully by the bar staff, Amir. The female staff member also reprimanded others who approached without PPE although she consistently wore her mask under her nose. The staff were immediately hostile, including when we tried to speak to them about their "issue" with the group. Disappointing to say the least and will definitely not return for future events.

It's a cool space but the playlist is actual trash. Like who's playlist is this? Get rid of it

Great addition to the Spring Branch area! It is 100% outdoors with table seating and a huge parking lot. This place has some cocktails and wine, but their focus is more on beers. The taco truck they have is quick, reasonable , and delicious. I had a torta that was big enough to share with two people, and their street tacos are on point. My only complaint is I did not see a dog area for dogs to relieve themselves since it was night time, so please add some signage for the clueless.

The powder keg has incredible ownership and employees. Continue with the great customer service.

Cute bar. Good drinks. The only sad part is you have to bring your own volleyball lol. Very chill relaxed environment.

Had a great time here visiting from Dallas. We brought Fluff, our beautiful pup, and she had the time of her life frolicking in the dog park while we sipped on a gracious selection of ice cold beers. Sunday's here are probably amazing as they have volleyball courts and like 100 TVs! I can see football and drunken volleyball in my near future. It's a really "backyard" type feel with the picnic tables, food trucks, dog park, and courts all together. We had an absolute blast and can't wait to come back!

Great venue and staff! Drinks were fantastic as was the space. Thanks for having our group and for putting something on the TV to entertain a bunch of wild kids. We will can't wait to go back.

Tried this place late last night. About an hour before closing and the staff were amazing. Tried a Gallagher purple rain. delicious!! Told us about the drinks and upcoming events. Nice, chill stop. Definitely bringing back some friends

I love this place and the bartenders are so friendly, outgoing and very outgoing. They're so easy to have conversations with. I always bring my pups and they always offer me some treats for them. I highly recommend this place.

Excellent vibe for me, I will definitely return with friends, and neighbors who are true dog lovers.
