On the Grid : Powderhorn Park

"Powderhorn Park is a large, hilly green space surrounding a beautiful lake in the heart of the Powderhorn neighborhood. With multiple sports fields and facilities, playgrounds, trails, waterfront views, and a recreation center that includes a gym and activities rooms, it is a wonderful place for children and families to exercise and spend time outside. Plan a picnic on a sunny afternoon or take a stroll through the grounds and watch ducklings drift across the lake with their parents. Powderhorn Park is also the site of the annual May Day Festival (which features 10-foot-high handmade puppets!), an iconic example of the neighborhood's community pride." - Teagan White

Powderhorn Park is a peaceful and beautiful spot with a lovely lake at its center. It’s perfect for walking, jogging, or just sitting by the water and enjoying nature. The park is clean, spacious, and has plenty of green areas for picnics or family time. I love how calm and relaxing it feels — a great place to recharge and enjoy the outdoors.

We saw barebones puppet show here in 2025. We were near the back of a large crowd. Bc of the big hill, we had no problem seeing the show and the music sounded great too.

People are distant, Rarely do I see acknowledgment of others. Are parks a place to be alone and be set apart from others? Geese, ducks, turtles and other wildlife acknowledge and communicate with one another. Humans should interact. Together we live on this planet in this city, visiting this park, walking down a street or path and seems to be a question if we cross paths with someone do we acknowledge/communicate with them? Is it not alright to look for brief eye contact, friendly gensture, or kind words? Love thy neighbor as you love yourself. Not at all the vibe. I am not contagious. I will not hurt you. Let's see a smile, let's hear that voice, let's help each other out. BE KIND IN ALL WAYS. DO NOT LITTER. LOOK AND SEE EACH OTHERS FACES. SHARE A STORY ABOUT YOURSELF. WE ARE ALL DIFFERENT BUT STILL VERY MUCH THE SAME. Hope to see you and exchange acknowledgment. Not only me but everyone. It is a challenge. A dare. Look at people, and say hello. 6-11-24 Tuesday about 4:45pm I went to the picnic table with the geese in front of them. I brought some old bread along to feed them and admire them up close and personal. I heard a voice asking if I was feeding the birds? I WAS WRONG. OF COURSE I AM. I WAS WRONG. NO MORE FEEDING THE ANIMALS. There is not sign posted there anywhere I had seen. I looked. 100% I respect her approach. That is cool. Yes I was wrong. DO NOT FEED THE WILDLIFE.

Beautiful park to visit at summer is winding down. Really well kept grounds with rolling paths to walk on, great playgrounds and an amazing little wading pool.

A much loved park nestled within the Powderhorn neighborhood. This park seems to almost be the lifeblood of this neighborhood. It’s as if it’s everyone’s backyard and front porch where neighbors come to walk, talk, stroll, exercise, play with their children and walk their dogs. The park has beautiful rolling topography, a sweet lake with a concrete walking path that encircles the entire lake, a really cool splash pad, small wading pool, several nice playground, ball fields a and a small stage. The park is many acres and interspersed with lots of old trees. A lovely place.

Family friendly park. Great facilities, easily accessible and good amount of parking. They have events occasionally in the amphitheater area. Went to the fire dancing show recently. Surprisingly not too many bugs. Place is clean and the people who visit are super nice. I really like walking around here.
