On the Grid : Melville House Books

"The brainchild of a prominent literary blogger, Melville House formed in 2001 to publish an anthology of writings titled “Poetry After 9/11”. Since the book debuted to rave reviews, Melville House has grown to publish a wide variety of fiction and non-fiction works. Their John St. space functions as a bookstore, an event space and their publishing office. Stop in to browse their recent titles and score one of their clever tote bags." - Column Five

A bookshop that can open your heart and your brain. A very good selection of titles, many independent choices and a lot of light

Decent book selections and ideal location I will say the 2 woman in the front didn’t speak to me at all. I even went to the books in the front, knocked some down on accident and she didn’t even bat her eye. I felt unwelcome to be honest. Won’t be going back.

Very cute bookshop located directly across from the Manhattan Bridge Overpass. The kids section looked vast and well organized. The adult fiction section was a little disorganized but they had a wide selection. Great spot to stop if shopping in Dumbo

So happy to have a bookshop in my work neighborhood. I love getting the staff recs. Very airy pleasant space, nice to browse. I never make it to any events but they seem to be a big draw! I always get the kids in my life, gifts here!

Cute, hip place with plenty of nice present/souvenir items, a bit overpriced though.
