Where to Eat in Oklahoma City | Bon Appétit

"“Prairie Artisan Aleshas been a pretty big name in the worldwide beer scenes for years, and they do crazy out-there stuff. They recently opened their taproom in OKC (3 NE 8th Street). We source a lot of their small-batch stuff for our tiny kegerator at the restaurant. They are famous for theBomb!, a stout aged with raw vanilla, coffee, chili, and cacao nibs. We also like their Blueberry Boyfriend, a sour aged over raw blueberries, and the milkshake IPAs that use lactose for a super creamy mouthfeel. Anyone can get into their beer, even if you aren’t a beer drinker. There is so much flavor, and it’s just fun.”" - ByAlyse Whitney

It's one of my favorite breweries to visit! They are truly amazing! They treat me like a family!

B Moore

Google
This location is tucked away in a small business park/food court kind of collective space, and we loved everything about it. Great beer selection, cool bartenders, plenty of open seating and access to a coffee shop and a food option. Don’t miss the stop, it’s definitely worth it!

Daniel Garcia

Google
The beer is amazing. The first sour I ever liked was here. Peach Crumble. The best stout I was had was Christmas Bomb. I didn’t know I could feel such emotions and joy from beer. Thank you Prairie. Best beer I’ve had all year

Amanda

Google
Rainbow Sherbet is one of my favorite beers so when visiting OKC for first time (from AZ) I knew I had to stop by the taproom. Had a great time sitting at the bar getting different 4oz pours. Really great service all around! I bought a variety 8-pack to bring back home to share with friends and ended up finding a new favorite beer - Wild Esses :)

Austin Boley

Google
Prairie has been one of my favorite breweries for years and a family reunion finally put me in a position to visit in-person. It’s in a shared commercial space but there are plenty of bar seats and tables to sit and enjoy some great beer. They even have a pickleball court and an outdoor area for the not so hot days. I love breweries that still specialize in traditional sour beers. You see a lot of places doing lactose sours. Our bartender was super friendly and threw in a glass and some koozies for making the trip. A great experience at one of my favorite breweries.

Google
This was a bucket list experience as a beer lover and fan of Prairie beers I've been able to get through out of state distro. Their sours and stouts are some of my favorites. The space was open with lots of seating, and the beertender was friendly and answered questions and offered suggestions. Would recommend to any beer enthusiast.

Google
Such a phenomenal experience!!! A fun taproom to compliment a legendary brewery’s delicious beer. Shoutout to Shannon for digging up from old discontinued stouts from the back for me! She really helped craft a wonderful experience for me at Prairie, and I’m very glad I came in person!

Google
great spot to relax, socialize and enjoy good brews! huge variety here with canned options Togo! Outdoor seating and pickleball courts available

Yelp
Oh my gosh ! I can't say enough good things about this brewery. From the staff, the beers, the pricing, the location, and vibes! Their beers are greatly priced. You can't go wrong with the any of the sours. You can bring your pip and can sit inside with them. There is outside seating it was just a bit hot for us to sit outside today.
google avatar

Nina C.

Yelp
Set inside a larger building with other businesses, this place is adorable for a midday happy hour. They have their own Pickleball court adjacent to the seating area, which you can rent by the hour or portion there of when it's not so busy. They have a full list of beer, options, and the open air seating area gives a lovely feeling with a well lit and upbeat vibe. They have lots of customized merch, and their own unique flavors. All the cups are branded, and it really delivers a cohesive experience. We tried one of their hazy IPAs and it was delicious. We were just passing through Oklahoma City on a road trip from Florida to Colorado and My bags were too full to fit any more T-shirts, so even though the designs were cute I opted for a sticker to commemorate the experience. Thank you!

Yelp
Prairie is always great. They have new stuff weekly. Wild Esses is my current favorite. Tastes just like skittles in liquid form. They don't offer tastes anymore though, so you just have to buy a pour and hope you like it. Which seems silly. I guess people were abusing it. It's in a cute building too. We always stop anytime we are in okc.
google avatar

Allison P.

Yelp
Chill atmosphere, great selection, games available (boo & I played Shut the Box while drinking 3 pours each). Boo is an IPA fan, but the two IPAs he's tasted from here are just ok; their strength is really sours & stouts. We are not living in a place with easy access to their beers, so we left with 6 4-packs and a stout to bring home with us. Really great variety of sours

Stephanie E.

Yelp
Some friends and I hit up Prairie on Christmas Eve. Seasick Crocodile (holiday sour) on draught was fantastic! Their stouts are always stellar. Friendly staff! Fun industrial setting just outside of the Automobile Alley area. Hot Chopsticks in the same building has great food, too!

Yelp
This place blew me away! And that's coming from someone who doesn't drink a lot of beer or who checks out breweries often. However, my friends and I signed up for a bike tour with Ride OKC and it was one of the stops along the way and my favorite one of them all. I love the exotic flavors this place has to offer and how it's so hipster. Kimdlike you're in the middle of an outdoor garden market. The things I didn't like about this place is that they don't offer tasting sizes. It would be nice to have a taster...or at least a sampling limit for people who aren't beer drinkers like me. Lucky for me, I was with a group and was able to sample theirs before making a selection. I ended up with a stout and boy, was it milky and delicious. I can't wait for it to get cooler outside so I can go back for that specific beer. Overall, I love the overall vibe of this place and would high key recommend it to anyone who needed a beer spot.
google avatar

Greg Z.

Yelp
Quite possibly my favorite beers of all time. I'd sit here all day if they had a playground for the kids. Haven't had a single beer from prairie that I disliked I grabbed up the patches beer because , well it's amazing
google avatar

Kristin F.

Yelp
My favorite Okc brewery! Snuggled inside the 8th Street Market is the heart of my favorite sours! Always fresh and tasty with knowledgeable staff! Lots of natural light coming in, just a whole vibe.
google avatar

Yelp
We have loved grabbing this beer from HEB for the last year and finally made it over when my husband and mine mothers came in town. What a dope experience! everyone was lovely but Maggie was our beer tender, she is so kind and all of her suggestions to try were delicious! We're from Texas but already looking forward to the next visit. Thx Mags!
google avatar

Kyle R.

Yelp
Shining jewel in the crown of great OKC breweries! By far, my favorite of all I visited. Tried 4oz pours of Hollaback Girl, Thai Delight, Billy Joel Radio, 'Merica Y'all, and full pours of Bucket Hat and Smashed El Dorado. If you like sours, refreshing IPAs, and unique brews, this is your place. Service was excellent, bartender chatty but not pushy and very informative on helping choose brews, sizes, what to try next, etc. atmosphere was great, indoors but felt outdoors with all the open space. MUST stop on any brewery tour/crawl if OKC.
google avatar

Angela B.

Yelp
Oh how we love prairie okc! My introduction to sour beers was prairie rainbow sherbet! It's still my absolute go to beer and always have a 12 pack on hand! The space here is great! It is pet friendly and I was unsure for such a long time. There are other shops inside the building which is nice. There is also a restaurant inside! I believe it's changed a few times but every time I've tried it, it's all been good. I come in and try out all the new flavors and I enjoy some other sours in addition to the rainbow sherbet but some of the others are very sweet made from candy usually. Delicious just not my preference. If you haven't checked them out, you are missing out!
google avatar

Heather K.

Yelp
Excellent brewery selection! I had the hulk hands after a recommendation from the staff and I really enjoyed it. She definitely knew what she was talking about when I told her what I liked. The staff was friendly. They were pretty busy. They also have tvs to watch games. This is inside a business building where there is a Vietnamese food place down the way, a coffee shop, and a pickle ball court inside. Pretty neat little gem that I had no idea was even in that area. I would def go back, they had a ton of options.

Yelp
Came out from Arizona to see my family, this was the stop I was most excited for. As someone who has worked in a taproom for a local brewery and now a sales manager for them for three years, I have become a big fan of this local breweries and expanded my knowledge on beer. When I came here, the bartender (younger girl, dark hair) was snappy and continued to walk away from me. I ordered the cream ale, which was 75% foam, and slammed it on the table. I looked at her, not sure if she didn't know how to pour a nitro, or if she was just a rude person with nothing better to do. I tried to stay polite and kind saying thank you, I appreciate you, etc. she continued to glare at me, ignore me when I spoke to her, and whisper to her coworker while looking at me. Very confused why she was so mean, it completely changed my perspective of this place and disappointed me greatly. Very upset I paid for this beer with a generous tip. I included a photo below of what my drink looked like after the foam settled (this was before I even took a sip). Very disappointed, especially after being a (previous) fan of this place. Bad service, doesn't know how to pour, and ungodly rude. Not coming back here on my next family trip.

Yelp
I'm not even a big beer fan but found this place so charming! A friend had a surprise 40th birthday party here and the layout was tremendous! Very casual laid back atmosphere with tvs all around. They even have restaurant in the same building that everyone was ordering from. The bartenders were friendly and knowledgeable in what to get. They had tons of local beer that my husband was loving. Since I'm not a beer fan i found it great that they offered some wines also! Red wine and even the peach Bellini that i opted for. They were very fruity and fresh.
google avatar

Yelp
Went November 12th. If I lived In Oklahoma City I would be here all the time. I had the Thai delight (3.75/5), apple brandy snickerdoodle (4/5) and the grape on grape esses (4.25/5). The service is great and their 4 ounce tasters are 2.50 which is amazing. They don't do flights but will give you two beers at a time. I wish I had tried all the esses because that grape on grape is the best sour I've had in a long time. It's also in a cool little building with a Vietnamese place and coffee shop.

Chris L.

Yelp
My favorite brewing company, by far, and there are a lot of good ones out there! My three favorites styles of beer are barrel aged stouts, fruit sours and dark Belgium style ales, and Prairie Artisan Ales focuses heavily on the first two and there is always something new and delicious to try. They also have new beers at the OKC taphouse every Friday and right now, their 2023 line-up of Stouts has just come out. If you like to experiment with innovative new beer creations or even if you just enjoy good beer, give Prairie Artisan Ales a try!
google avatar

Yelp
Prairie sours have become my new favorite drink. I was never much of a beer fan, but this brand has completely changed that! You cannot go wrong with some of their fan favorites, like the Rainbow Sherbet Sour or Slush. Even when I go out to eat now, I find myself perusing drink menus for Prairie on it. When it comes to the physical location of the brewery, this is a phenomenal place to go, grab a drink, and spend some quality time with friends. It's got a super indie, hipster atmosphere to it, it's dog friendly, and it's always a good time sampling all their new, wild flavors. Yes, they even have a pickle beer and, for anyone who knows me, I was sold right then and there. Such a fun way to spend an afternoon!
google avatar

Kayla D.

Yelp
Love that this place is dog friendly!! They have a great variety of sour ales that are always fun flavors you can't find other places.
google avatar

Frank N.

Yelp
I love breweries! I especially love great breweries! This is a great brewery! Had to search for it when we arrived....it is inside of an obscure building with a few other businesses. Not a lot of seating, but ample. IPAs are pretty darn good, and the sours adore more fruity and substantial, then they are sour. Tasted 7 varieties and must say... all tasted as advertised and excellent. Parking lot on set is a plus. If you like good beer and sours....GO!
google avatar

Rhett G.

Yelp
Very cute bar located in downtown OKC. I loved the selection of beers and craft drinks they had to offer. I was drinking the y'all IPA and was very pleasantly surprised with how good it was. It was also very cheap! The staff was very friendly and helped me to pick k out which IPA they thought I would like the best. Cant wait to come back!
google avatar

Tim T.

Yelp
This beer bar is awesome. So many interesting, creative and delicious beer offerings bearing many different flavors - you can also open a tab and just experience a whole variety of different beers flavored to resemble the taste profiles of Skittles candy, Thai desserts like Mango Sticky Rice, PB&J, Peach Crumble, and even Spicy Pickle. Very unique and a highly recommended experience!
google avatar

Dorothy G.

Yelp
I'm not a fan of sours but Prairie had a great selection of stouts, which were all delicious!
google avatar

Bryan W.

Yelp
Beeradvocate rates Prairie as the best brewery in Oklahoma City (with a few stouts rated in the top 100 in the overall U.S.) I enjoyed a decadent Pirate Paradise and a Pirate Bomb. Prairie's Pirate series of Imperial Stouts are aged in rum barrels which yield flavors of coconut and vanilla to the rich syrupy Stout.
google avatar

Alyson T.

Yelp
Great atmosphere with lots of seating! The menu always changes and it's nice the different pour sizes you can get.
google avatar

Mathew M.

Yelp
Had a nice stout on National Stout Day. I would recommend the Heath Barrel Imperial Stout! I plan to go back and sample more!
google avatar

Scott W.

Yelp
I love Prairie!! So when I had the chance to visit an actual Prairie location, I was in heaven. The draft beer list was extensive and the staff were AWESOME !! Can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Merrill O.

Yelp
I always loved Prairie Ales, even before visiting OKC, and now that I've been there in person, it has secured its place as my fave brewery in the country! All of the beers were delicious...I mean, no one does flavors like Prairie...right?? I had quite a few tasters, and there wasn't a single one that I didn't like. The bartenders were friendly (special shoutout to Adam!) and the locals were welcoming. All of them liked to talk beer, and they had plenty of recommendations for my weekend in OKC. As an added bonus, if you're hungry (and who isn't, when beer tasting?) you can order food from the Thai place next door (Magasin Table), and the restaurant will even bring it to your seat at Prairie when it's ready. All in all, a top notch experience! I look forward to returning in the winter, when their menu is more stout-heavy. Cheers!!
google avatar

Steven A.

Yelp
I didn't get to stay long, but it's a really cool tap room. It's connected to a food court type hallway and the brewery is at the end. Lots of seating and an open bar, so anyone can be served. Definitely plan to come back soon and spend some time sampling more on tap options. DFW overnight visitor.
google avatar

Kate S.

Yelp
Always an amazing selection of beer! If you like sours, this is the place for you! There were 11 sours available in the tap room when we came - far more than any other brewery. The Tiny Esses and Patches are my personal favorites, but lots of good options. Though it may not seem like it when you first enter, this brewery is indeed dog friendly. Big screen available for any big games - I've watched several games here and always had a good time. Grab food at Hot Chopsticks if you're hungry. Easy parking in the lot outside. Highly recommend - never had a beer I didn't like!
google avatar

Torri H.

Yelp
I walked in for a local beer and ended up staying for trivia night. I didn't know it was trivia night so me and my party were woefully unprepared for The Beetles trivia so we did terrible, it was still super fun though. The beer is top notch!
google avatar

Derek L.

Yelp
Prairie is one of the best breweries in OKC - especially if you like sours. There is always a rotation of funky and unique ones. Be sure to try the signature prairie BOMB! Not the best for strict light beer drinkers. Lots of open space for seating. There are some board games available to play. Food nearby, but probably avoid the pho place in the same spot. Parking can be a little rough at peak times.
google avatar

Lauren R.

Yelp
I'm not a big beer fan but I've become one since Prairie started doing imperial stouts right. I'm such a huge fan of the way they taste. I've yet to have a disappointing stout from here. I wish they would bring back the Nigerian Prince, a peanut butter imperial tat is literally the best thing I've ever tasted. Their taproom is great. Located off 8th and Broadway it's tucked into the 8th street market you can not only enjoy tasty beers but Magasin Table is in there too so you can get snacks. They have a big screen tv for all the sports and ample seating. Plus their staff is the best. Drink local beer, especially from here.
google avatar

Kelly O.

Yelp
This is a cute little unfinished market. We were directed here in regards to the beer! Prairie Artisan Ales had pretty yummy beer with many unique flavors to choose from! I got a sour beer made with rainbow sherbet! It for real tasted like sherbet, it was pretty refreshing! We also got a stout on nitro, very smooth, creamy, and flavorful. I liked how you can get your beer in 3 different sizes. They don't do flights, but the different sizes offers you a chance to somewhat sample. Grab some food before you get a beer, they had an Asian restaurant inside that everyone was getting food from. It looked and smelled really good. There is also a coffee place upstairs. This place is a little hidden gem. The atmosphere here is very relaxing. This is a nice place to come enjoy good beer and grab a bite to eat.
google avatar

Douglas R.

Yelp
First time here trying some sours and haven't had a bad one yet. We agree they have a contract with heaven on the sours they're so good.

Montele W.

Yelp
This is hands down the best brewery in OKC from their sour ales & stouts. Tough to find better
google avatar

Lauren S.

Yelp
Love love LOVE this place! They are the brewery who opened my palate to drinking beers! They have such a unique selection of flavors and types of beers, you can find just about something for everyone! We went on a Saturday night, and it wasn't super crowded or loud, and we had a blast playing some of their provided games! They also have trivia on Sundays and every other Wednesday! And if you get hungry, there is a pho restaurant right next to it in the market! Will definitely be making this a regular hang out spot for the future!!
google avatar

Mary Margaret M.

Yelp
Of course they have fantastic beer. That's what Prairie does--make great beer. Not wine. Not spirits. Beer. They. Do. Beer. It's not a bar--it's a taproom. The tap system here is huge. Lots of handles. Lots of varied styles of beer. Seasonals, traditionals, & everything in between. They also have their own bottled beer, just in case your favorite isn't on tap. Great gathering place. The location is inside the 8th Street Market building which can be tough to find if you don't know where to look. This building could use some additional outside signage. It's located right next to the train tracks on 8th Street, just to the west of Oklahoma Ave. The inside space has tons of common space seating. Though Prairie doesn't serve food, they are co-located in a building with great food. It's a pretty sweet deal--order your food at the Asian inspired restaurant next door and then come to Prairie to eat and hangout. It's a co-location at it's finest. They have board games. It's designed to be a place to come and chill with your favorite book, a group of friends, or that pesky assignment that's coming due. Whatever kind of beer you like, Prairie has a something for you. Come chill with the folks here. They are doing something great. March 2019

Yelp
My husband loves all different types of beers and trying new ones. I don't like many beers, but we just moved to Automobile Alley and several people recommended it so we had to walk over to try it out for ourselves. First is the location. Pretty cool little "market" with offices, the brewery, a restaurant and yoga studio. The brewery has a combination of seating types, a cool mural above the taps, a view of the stills, and dinosaur succulents on display. Since they don't serve food, you can bring whatever you want. We saw people with food from the restaurant located inside the market, as well as outside. I like it! There is space for at least one more place to go in, so I'm eager to see what else will end up opening there. I have heard that they open the garage doors when it's warm enough outside, which I love. And it's within walking distance? I'm stoked. We sat at the bar and were greeted immediately. I tried one of the flavored imperial stouts. Oh wow. I was shocked! It was so good!! We have already been back and I have tried all of the imperial stout flavors on the current menu, plus some of the limited offers that must be consumed at the brewery. Every single one was awesome! We will be back more than we should!
google avatar

Andrew B.

Yelp
What a weird and wonderful place, truly a Chocolate Factory filled with beers you never imagined possible. Every time I go in here, it seems they've reworked the menu with more wild things to try, and I've yet to come across one I didn't enjoy. You will be challenged, you will be confused, you will be glad you came.
google avatar

Landis T.

Yelp
Great vibe. If you like sour beers, this is the place for you. Friendly staff and good selection. Worth a visit. Trivia on Sundays and every other Wednesday!
google avatar

A S.

Yelp
As a huge fan of sours I was dying to try this place during our visit to OKC. It did not disappoint! We made a brief stop by Prairie during our bike and brew tour and then we came back the next day to try more. Between both visits I tried 8 different beers and I enjoyed each one. We were told this location focuses on experimental beers and many of the beers never make it to store shelves. This is sad because the sticky rice beer was amazing and I would love to drink it often. The location and customer service were also great. Highly recommended.

James W.

Yelp
Great service and great drinks. Went on a Monday night so it wasn't very busy. Very unique and great tasting drinks. Will definitely be back!
google avatar

Kat B.

Yelp
While this place is difficult to find and, had I not been with a friend who had been there before, I probably wouldn't have found it, it was worth the visit. I sampled the Blueberry Boyfriend, which I found to be delicious. I also tried the Rainbow Sherbet. I loved it! My absolute favorite, by far, was the Painkiller. I'm not sure what all was in it, but it was like a delicious dessert in a glass. If you're in the area, swing by. You won't regret it.
google avatar

Kelli D.

Yelp
Great space, and great beer. I'm not a fan of sours, but I'm hooked on the Blueberry Boyfriend! I enjoy this facility for business gatherings, as well as after-hour socials. Multiple options of beverages (beer / coffee / soda), a bit of food, a large common area, large screen for viewing big events, and free WiFi.

Donna F.

Yelp
Super fun place. We had some really good beers at the bar and ordered Thai food from the place next door. Our bartender was friendly and helpful.
google avatar

Crystal N.

Yelp
The best brewery in OKC, hands down. Prairie is a well-known brewery in the craft beer world, given how top notch their products are. They have a fantastic selection of stouts for the colder weather, especially the classic Bomb (imperial stout aged on coffee, chocolate, vanilla beans, and ancho chilis) and their Pirate series. With Christmas coming up, that means Christmas Bomb is coming on tap (Bomb with cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger), which will put you in a festive mood. If stouts aren't your thing, they have a wonderful selection of sours and IPAs. They've got a beer on tap to suit everyone's taste, so stop by the bar and say hello to the super friendly staff! Plus, with all the windows around this open space, it's a fantastic place to hang out with friends and it's pupper friendly!
google avatar

Ryan J.

Yelp
This was my first time here and it did not disappoint. The selection of beer was pretty large and had lots of different types so if you like beer you should be able to find something you like here. Covid: They had plexiglass dividers at the bar to order behind and the tables are spaced out far enough to feel comfortable.
google avatar

Kristi S.

Yelp
This brewery is in an old mixed market building. Super set up. Great restaurant next door. Huge tv screen and open air if weather permits. Highly recommend ! Oh... and really great beer! I love the ryeGerian Prince and the Roll With It. Looks like a mostly younger crowd and it's dog friendly
google avatar

Thomas R.

Yelp
Prairie tries hard to make beer. Maybe too hard. Flowery, frou-frou, fruity flavors are not my thing. And every choice of suds here has some kind of fancy, floral, hoppy additive or frilly fruit flavoring. Blech. Too precious. It's been a long time since I didn't finish a beer that was put in front of me, but that "Standard" beer I ordered was anything but standard. It reminded me of my granny's gardenia-scented toilet-water cologne, which is not my favorite smell, not by a long shot. I might return to Prairie OKC to enjoy the friendly service and clean space, but if they don't have an ordinary old lager or regular pils next time, I'll be drinking elsewhere.
