Best Mithai Shops in London for Diwali 2022 | Eater London

"Prashad’s visitors are greeted by several “CASH ONLY” signs dangling from the ceiling at eye-level, and a throng of loyal customers waiting to be served. Like many of the places on this list, Prashad is also popular for its savoury snacks, particularly of the deep-fried variety. It’s wise to line the stomach with a few reasonably-priced Gujarati street snacks and Indo-Chinese favourites, before then diving into the sweets selection at the front of the store on the way out." - Diya Mukherjee

I love the savoury snacks at both the Wembley and Southall branches of Prashad. Everything that I have tried has been excellent, packing far more flavour than any snack at this price point usually does. I particularly love the Sev Puri l, the Chole Bhature and the Spicy Masala Fry Vada Pav. The customer service is not very good as the small and cramped shops tend to be overtly busy and staff are rushed off of their feet. There are no chairs or tables at the above branches although there is a side board where one can stand and eat at, otherwise it is a takeaway affair.

We usually shop at the Wembley branch, but during today's trip to Southall we got excited seeing Prashad Sweets and decided to stock up on chaat supplies, pani puri, papdi, sev, etc. Unfortunately, when we got home and opened the packets, the papdi had a strong stench of rancid oil! 🤢 We ended up throwing all the boxes in the bin, such a waste of money and food. In hindsight, the unusually pale colour should’ve been a warning sign. Very disappointing!

Tried the karela sabji from Prashad Sweets… and wow, I didn’t know sour could reach this level. Called them to complain, and lady said, ‘Karela is supposed to be bitter.’ Oh, thank you! Next time maybe I’ll drink vinegar and call it a meal too. The dish is gone, my appetite is gone, and my faith in edible food… almost gone too. #BitterOrBust 😅”. I don't want to put bad review and there reply left me frustrated atleast accept the fault but ....

Disappointing Experience I had a very disappointing experience at this sweets and snacks shop. The staff's behaviour was extremely unprofessional and disrespectful. They predominantly communicated in Gujarati, assuming that every customer would understand, which made it difficult for others to place their orders properly. There was no queue system in place, creating a lot of confusion and frustration among customers. Orders were not taken properly, and staff seemed uninterested in listening or clarifying. The overall attitude lacked basic courtesy and customer service. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a pleasant and respectful shopping experience.

This place is a Gem!!! I love Vegetable Samosa "thin skin/ small size". Truly tasty one of the best Samosa I have ever had in last 10 years in the UK. While you in Southall, you must visit Parasad Sweet. Tea is superb, outstanding taste with freshness, feel like homemade tea with lots of secert ingredients in it! If you love Indian food, this place is a must. Prices are really reasonable, a lot cheater then Hounslow Central price. Highly recommended.

Good range. But small as all queue for goods and those that eat also in same area, so congested. If the three takeaways we purchased only one was good, the others were below par.

Low quality old things selling I bought today some snacks when I opened its smell so bad . Don’t buy from them they are selling stale and old items and smells like they are using old oil. Waste my money. Taste before buying.

Inexpensive wholesome quality authentic pure vegetarian dishes of Gujarat along with other must have delicious treats 😋 You'll definitely be surprised and come back regularly (like me) with ever growing love for pure food because the dishes are just like how we would make at home but much better. They have a wide variety of all time Mumbai's favourite dishes along with a selection of south Indian and of course mouthwatering sweets and savoury snacks along with a wide range of traditional desserts that'll bring back your love for traditional pure back to basic tastes. I ❤️ their crispy crunchy jalebi 😍 rotla 🙌 Kadi kichadi, Dal bhat and my all-time favourite Sikand, rishmali🤍 masala chia 🤎 and of course the best mogo chips ever 💛🧡💛
