Café Saint-Germain

We came for the French tapas and it was a fun experience! This is really a great deal and it was fun to try so many different dishes. We especially enjoyed the mussels, beef poutine, and the coq au vin. I wouldn't say the food was an absolute stand out but it was good and the experience itself was worth going.

What fun and good vibes for this place! With the big windows it feels a bit exposed after dark and it might be even more fun and cozy with some curtains We ordered from the prix fix menu and the portions were huge! From our 3 course meal we each very much liked 2/3 From the onion soup, pork and creme brûlée the last 2 were very delicious (and we were compensated for the soup as per their statement it wasn’t their best batch) For the pate, coq au vin and choc mouse the first 2 dishes were fabulous and huge The choc mouse texture was to granular for my liking (I like my mouse to be silky but realizing this is very personal) There wine pairing is served in cute little glasses and is good value for price Waiting staff is very kind and service oriented Also the crowd is a fun mixture of ages Overall a neighborhood gem

The Cote de Porc was, in a word, SPECTACULAR, and the St. Germaine Espresso Martini was the best I've ever had -it tasted just like an espresso. The service was top notch - friendly, and attentive without being intrusive. I'm very much looking forward to future visits.

This is a very spacious and quaint cafe. We came around 2pm on a Sunday and there were a lot of open tables. We got a couple of sandwiches and a soup. The boeuf bourguinon sandwich was excellent -- the meat and mushrooms were tender and covered in an unctuous sauce, with a great kick from the mustard. I would definitely get this again. It was decadent in all the best ways. The bread was not the best, but it was masked by the amazing filling. The Parisian ham and cheese sandwich was not as good, mainly because the bread was quite disappointing. It was very soft and a bit floury. I would've preferred a crustier bread with more structure. The filling was fine, and I liked the pickle, but I would've liked more ham as well. Praline's version of this sandwich is way better, mostly because of the bread. We also got the French onion soup ($10), which my husband, a French onion soup hater, loved. It has a nice crusty cheese top and was a bit sweet. Overall the boeuf bourguinon sandwich was excellent, but the sandwich bread was not great. I'd come back for that one sandwich, though!

Came in last minute for New Year’s Eve and had an amazing dinner. Our server was fantastic, attentive, charming, and a Somerville native. It was such a treat to connect with someone who actually grew up in the neighborhood. My wife and I will definitely be back, we hope to see her again soon!

Late review, but we stopped in for tapas a few weeks ago and honestly… it didn’t really land for us. The food was fine, but the vibe felt a little off and not very welcoming. We even found strands of our server’s blonde hair in our food, which definitely didn’t help. Safe to say, I’ll try elsewhere next time I was craving French for dinner. Fast forward a bit, friends kept raving about their brunch (and the pretty lattes 👀), so we decided to give it another chance a couple weeks ago… and I’m genuinely so glad we did. Brunch was a completely different experience. The energy was upbeat, lively, and actually felt warm and welcoming. Our server Alex was excellent and funny, and the bartender Katrina was amazing. Watching the staff interact with each other was such a nice touch, everyone seemed happy, playful, and like they actually enjoyed being there, which really elevated the whole atmosphere that Saturday morning. We ordered the French toast and an omelette. The food took a little longer than expected, but it was absolutely worth the wait. Of course we had to get lattes, we tried the honey cinnamon and an off-menu salted honey latte recommended by the bartender. Both were incredible, beautifully made, and came with lovely latte art. We ended brunch with cocktails because… why not? If you’re on the fence, I’d definitely recommend stopping by for brunch. Totally different vibe than dinner, delicious food, amazing pastries 🤤, and a really great overall experience. Brunch is clearly where they shine ✨If I lived closer, I’d be here for coffee everyday!

A friend and I stopped in for lunch yesterday and enjoyed the onion soup,it was wonderful. I returned later to pick up a few treats and learned you’ll be open on Thanksgiving. I had such a lovely interaction with Karina. As someone who has lost much of my family and often spends holidays on my own, she made me feel truly welcomed. I shared that with her, and she was so understanding and kind. Told me I wouldnt have to be alone this year because you guys are open and she’d be there. She even offered me a list of other restaurants and bars that often stay open on the holidays. It was a small moment, but it meant a great deal to me. I’m very grateful I stopped by. I look forward to coming in on Thanksgiving, I hope to see her!
