16 San Francisco Coffee Shops with Free Wifi and Legit Food

"This casual neighborhood spot is reasonably priced with good coffee, but FYI: tables can be hard to come by. Fill up in the morning on scrambles or French toast or go in at lunch for a salad, sandwich, or burger. The only thing to keep in mind about this cute cafe is that when it's time for dinner service, the free Wifi turns off. Bonus: if work gets stressful... they also have wine and beer." - Daisy Barringer, Ellen Fort, Caleb Pershan

On the Grid : Precita Park Café

"Precita Park Café is a cute neighborhood spot, the perfect place to grab a freshly squeezed juice (or let's be honest — a beer), after an afternoon hanging out in the park across the street. The menu is seasonal—featuring pizzas, fresh pastas, burgers, etc. written up on large hanging menu boards along the back wall. Nothing fancy, just a solid hangout to catch up with your friends. There are 3 of these cafés in the city, each one with a slightly different personality, but all united by beautiful parks right across the street." - Strohl

The croissant was good. Seems like staff was more welcoming to the "regulars." Also, I observed how everyone's number was removed after receiving their order. Mine was not. Food for thought: Simple, subtle things count towards a customers experience.

Great location next to the park. Sandwich had really fresh ingredients and great bread. Very casual atmosphere with lots of light.

I really wanted to love this place. I've been here several times and liked its location and friendly service. But I made a huge mistake ordering the lox scramble today. I should have asked them not to put any onions in it. That dish was terrible, and I'm not a particularly picky eater. A good half of a large onion mixed with eggs 🤢... I couldn’t smell or taste anything but onion. The tater tots that came with it were overfried and hard.

This Cafe saved us on New Year's Day for morning coffee and beverage. The staff was nice, helpful, and the Cafe had a nice vibe. They let service animals in.

This is a part of town I do not frequent. I had a family member in town that happened to be staying in the area. It is a busy cafe so I was sad not to be able to try my original choice of pizza Margarita. I switched to the cheeseburger and that took a long time. And by long I mean everyone at the table was done eating and I still had not gotten my foot. I got up to get a second beer and still nothing. Once I got it, wow it was absolutely delicious.

Monday morning, 11:30 am, wandered in and started studying the large menu board. I asked if I could still get breakfast and when I was told "there's breakfast all day!" I was soooo excited. Some places are really finicky about that. There were a couple of specials in addition to the big board on the wall, so after looking at every.single.thing, I chose the Totaquiles. Black beans normally come with it but I opted out of those. The tots were great and the sauce that came on them was even greater LOL. A perfectly fried egg, where the yolk was just runny enough to mix perfectly with the rest of the flavors of the sauce and crema. Also, got a cubano coffee which I had never had and includes sweetened condensed milk, cinnamon, and my choice of milk (I chose oat). It was as big as my head. And it was delicious. The space is really light and bright and there are tables outside as well. It's on a cool tri-corner so lots to watch outside their big windows. Plus the staff is super friendly and helpful. Can't wait to go back and work my way through the giant menu!

Google
Surprisingly excellent cafe next to a surprisingly great park. Usually stick to more ‘SF’-ey items like the breakfast sandwich With a cheesy, buttery scramble that hits the spot. Coffee can also be excellent, or burnt depending on the barista. Seems to fly under the radar as most of the clientele are unlikely to notice. The decor is eclectic which is perfect for the random demographic that Bernal seems to attract

Google
Get the Totaquilles and fresh squeezed orange juice. They are fresh and amazing. There’s a little spice to the totaquilles but nothing crazy. So good!!! The mocha was pretty good too.

Yelp
precita cafe has the most wonderful staff, friendly, helpful and willing to go the extra mile especially for the older population. I come here everyday and they have so many options for delicious clean food. And their coffee is amazing..

Yelp
Love this place so much I came back with hubby and our friends before walking over to the April art open house at 1890 Bryant Studios. For mid-April is was an amazingly warm day so we sat outside. We all ordered inside, then they delivered to our outside table - first our coffees, then our breakfast outside. I got the french toast and, as usual, I have no memory of what others ordered but the consensus was deliciousness all around. Can't wait until the next time!

Yelp
Monday 10am: Precita Park Cafe has it all. Ambiance, laid back neighborhood gathering spot Friendly staff Huge parklet & interior space Homemade ingredients beautifully presented Location across from Precita park. Bring the kids, bring you dog On to the main event, Avocado Toast which met all my criteria. Bread tasty & actually toasted! Generous spread of Avo mash Seeds Radish Greens Two perfectly cooked poached eggs sprinkled with paprika Cut in half I could eat with my hands. I'm a heathen. The avocado toppings added to the taste rather than distract. Nice little spice kick. Side of bacon a bit too crispy for me, but that's subjective. Or a fan of salad for breakfast. Should have asked for side of fruit. Enjoyed my Numi English Breakfast tea with steamed milk. The weather was ridiculously hot & thankfully the parklet had a slight cool breeze & roof top protecting from the sun. What a pleasant 5 star experience lingering with my NY Times. I'll definitely return. If you're going to spend the day staring at your computer, buy something more than a cappuccino. Support Local!

Yelp
Super-decent sandwich place near the office. My coworker suggested we take a 3-block walk to a Precita Park Cafe. It was worth it. Precita Park is one of those little SF neighborhoods that has changed over the years but maintained its charm. PPC is located right in the heart of the area. I can imagine this must be a cool spot to have a mid-morning coffee on the weekend. I had the Hot Chicken w/ chipotle aioli. Very nice. The bread was toasty and the cheese was melty. Just the way that I like it. They have decent-sized menu and I am curious to try out their other sandwiches. I am definitely going back.

Yelp
For the almond croissant I write this review. It's such a good pastry that they make at this restaurant. Always an excellent choice. It is pricey for what it is, but wow wow wow it's packed with flavor. Holds well in packaging if you're taking it on the go. I add the fallen powdered sugar to coffee when I get both. That's all I've been interested in trying from here.

Yelp
Disappointing breakfast in this former old favorite. Environment: a lot of tech bros working and strollers strolling. Don't try to drive here--you will circle for hours. Seriously not worth it. Food lows: Overbaked carrot bread, room temp breakfast sandwich on a nice, chewy but cold English muffin. Food highs: tater tots are delish, good coffee. Staff: counter person pretty good but the rest? Why do feel like I'm being judged? Haha. Anyways, I used to like dinner here, but probably will skip going forward. Also, Kahnfections for this kind of breakfast on this side of town going forward. Yup.

Yelp
I am so happy for this Cafe in the Bernal Heights Precita Park area. Its so convenient to get to. My daughter and are there almost everyday to almond milk latte, vegan donuts or other delicious baked goods. Sometimes we stop in for lunch or something to go for my husband when I don't want to cook.Great gathering spot to meet up with friends. The service is always with a warm contagious smile. We love it here very calming and laid back atmosphere. That's why we keep coming back.

Yelp
We stopped in for a snack and a place to chill while waiting for our kid to finish his music lesson. Fun spot - great location full of light when it's sunny and nice out. Very nice counter person (black n blond hair). We got the thick cut banana bread - worth the trip - lots of chocolate chips and moist. Annie Palmer (typical Arnold Palmer) was tasty - good balance of iced tea and lemonade. Boichik everything bagel w/cream cheese - deliciously chewy!

Yelp
Had the most wonderful, delicious tasting coffee perfect with the smoothest froth there is. Definitely would go again! Many vegan options and the service is excellent. Place is in a corner, but has in and outdoor seating. Loved my coffee experience!

Yelp
Everything is mid or lower here. It's nice having it next to the park but the quality isn't great. And for being right next to a kids playground you'd think they'd have better kid food options. Edit: you got to love passive aggressive business owner replies on Yelp. How do I disable replies?

Yelp
The food was good and nicely presented. The service was friendly and prompt. The interior is original and interesting.

Yelp
Cannot believe I went and saw all the people inside eating and enjoying their meal early morning and the restaurant locked the door and did not bother to let me in and ignored me standing there for 5 minutes. Never coming back again.

Yelp
This was good! I liked that you order at the counter and seat yourself. Makes it a little more casual and comfortable. Nice location across from the park. I got the avocado toast with bacon and my boyfriend got the French toast and the egg sandwich. The avocado toast was pretty delicious, a little pricey though for what it is. The French toast was okay. The crust was delicious but the center pieces were quite soggy. The egg sandwich was delicious! The cold brew was also delicious.

Yelp
JUCIEST BURGER EVER! came here during SF restaurant week where they had a special deal on a burger and chocolate milkshake combo. milkshake was alright but wasn't thick. I might just be picky because I think my milkshakes THICK THICK, but noticed over time it got really runny, but also I guess that's pretty normal. the burger was really good, flavorful and really juicy. it was huge! loaded with grilled onions and yummy veggies. it came out super fresh and with warm, goey cheese. I also got a soy latte it was good, pretty standard. what I really liked about the place was the vibe. it was so spacious with so much seating and was really open, well lit with natural lighting, and so peaceful. I like that it's such a good, multipurpose spot where you can go to study, work, catch up with friends, grab a bite/drink, or all in one. I just noticed that there weren't any outlets, so make sure if you come with electronic devices, they're fully charged. there is street parking surrounding the cafe and a nice park across the street. it didn't take long for me to find a spot. the staff was also very friendly. overall good experience that lifted my mood so I definitely want to come again to try more food items!

Yelp
I live nearby and this is my closest option for ordering food to pick up. I rarely order though because the orders are almost always wrong, and the service is pretty bad. But they're so close, so inevitably I decide to give them another shot and then am disappointed again. The last two times I've ordered salads for lunch, I got home and realized they hadn't included dressing. I ordered the fruit bowl today for $8 and got mostly pineapple with a little melon (see photo). Crazy prizes for inconsistent quality and service.

Yelp
Our go to spot when we are at precita park. They have a great selection of sandwiches, a nice space to eat (indoors and outdoors) and perfect espresso drinks and coffee. We have tried multiple items on the menu and really enjoy it all. If you are into fried chicken, then it's a great one to try.

Yelp
Cute cafe near precita park if you need to grab food or a drink! Would give it 5 stars for the service - the staff were all so so nice. I wouldn't necessarily come here JUST for the food or drinks - more so cuz it's a decent cafe near the park (with better options than other cafes nearby). Most items are slightly on the average to higher end for standard cafe food - some pretty healthy options! They have iced water at the side for self serving. They also have a selection of Mitchell's icecream (which I got one scoop of banana). I got a cream cheese bagel which was standard (not cut in half but I'm sure you could ask) good amount of cream cheese!

Yelp
The person at the register acted like it was an imposition for me to even order. I wanted to treat myself to lunch but now I feel so small and intrusive. I think I'll take my food to the park instead of eating here. This sort of stuff just makes me sad.
google avatar

Yelp
Divine Veggie Sandwich - Calling fellow sprout lovers! This is the sandwich for you... it packed with veggies and just the right amount of hummus for a healthy lunch with a view of the park. Atmosphere is perfect for working remote & having a cup of coffee too!

Yelp
It's nice that Precita Park Cafe has good vegan options. But I'm disappointed that there's still a vegan milk surcharge. Many people are lactose-intolerant and shouldn't have to pay more for choosing a healthy and environmentally-friendly option. Other places like Panera and Philz Coffee already offer dairy-free milk at no extra charge. I hope Precita Park Cafe will consider doing the same to encourage others to make healthier and more compassionate choices.

Yelp
Great vibes. Great food. Everything looked drool worthy amazing. Portion sizes were good and menu was very expansive. Lots of vegan/vegetarian options

Yelp
A perfect spot before or after visiting Bernal Heights. Great selection of food and beverages. Good prices considering the location. Great for kids especially with the playground right across the road.

Yelp
I have to admit I've yet had a real meal here probably because I seem to be in the area before I seriously think about dinner. I'm usually taking a long walk on Mission and of course get peckish as I get closer to Cesar Chavez. That's when I take a deliberate detour onto Precita Avenue and find myself watching the dogs frolic on the narrow patch of urban greenery that's known as Precita Park. That's what makes the setting of this cafe so ideal since it overlooks the park and obviously attracts the locals. Because of my late afternoon timing, the place is relatively empty which makes it easier to appreciate the local art on the walls and frankly the quietude. I've ordered the same thing twice now - the $3.50 Cafe au Lait, which comes in a mammoth cup and saucer and the $4.25 slice of Chocolate Bread (photo: http://bit.ly/2STtQte). I've found the combination quite seductive, especially when it's cold and drizzly out. Perhaps when I come back to try the hot food, I will provide my more familiar jaundiced feedback but not when I need a respite of warmth from my urban adventure. RELATED - Exploring Bernal Heights? Here's a collection of places I've tried and reviewed: http://bit.ly/2CaaWFe

Yelp
Best vegan breakfast burrito I have ever had!!! So delicious and flavorful!!! 10/10 recommended!
google avatar

Yelp
Absolutely a scam. $20 for a veggie wrap with nothing but carrots, lettuce, and about an inch of tofu. Not only that, the woman at the register was beyond rude, like she was about to murder someone with the way she was looking at me. our order got "lost" and what turned out to be a 20 minute pickup for lunch, turned into a 40 minute ordeal. Never again.
google avatar

Stefan G.

Yelp
Very poor quality of service. The male barista that took my order completely forgot about it and did not even apologize after I complained about it.
google avatar

Gloria V.

Yelp
I love this place but I wish I could say they were consist but they're not. I'll give an example... Lavender Lattes, don't bother ordering them. Especially if it's to go or door dash. You'll order a lavender latte and it's gamble if your get it or not... I know I'm not crazy cause I'll tell them know it taste like a regular latte and not what I order and then they will admit that they're running out of the lavender flavored syrup. So save your money and skip the flavored coffees. Service is great thou and food is very tasty and the inside and out side seating is always lovely!

Yelp
Me: "huh. I haven't eaten at That Cafe for a long time. I can't remember why. Let's give it a shot. An hour later: "Ah, now I remember." This time, the foul was leaving me outside in the rain for 40 minutes waiting for an order the servers had forgotten about. Charlie's Cafe on the other side of the park, on the other hand, has never let me down.

Yelp
I've been coming here since the grand opening in 2012. It used to be my favorite breakfast place, and favorite place for a nice Thai tea latte. I feel a bit foolish to keep coming back after a long streak of being disappointed lately but I do, because I hope it's better the next time. My food always seems like it's been slapped together in a hurry although it usually takes a while to come out. The serving sizes keep getting smaller and the prices higher. Things used to be better, food, lattes, and service. I will say though the blonde/dark blonde haired lady with colored eyes always at the register is very nice.
google avatar

Jordan L.

Yelp
I think this place doesn't get the credit it deserves. It's on a quiet corner in a fun neighborhood, right next to the park. It's in the shade for the mornings so if you want to eat outside, I recommend bringing a jacket. We got a breakfast burrito and French toast. Both were very good! The French toast was very moist and I was able to get the fruit on the side which was a plus. The tater tots tasted double fried which my husband loved. We stumbled on this place, but I wouldn't be opposed to stopping again if we're ever hungry in the area!
google avatar

Yelp
Have been brown bagging it so that limits reviews to coffee...and if the name has cafe n it that is a good place to start. Parking is seldom easy near here but when I find a space...this is like an oasis from the busy streets of the mission and the tiny nearly impassable streets of Bernal. I like the coffee. I was there today and it was fresh and hot. On my last stop they cared enough to ask if I wanted the dregs or to preferred to wait for a new batch. I waited. Recommended.

Yelp
Great location: near Precita Park. The flowers are blossoming right now Most interesting salad/protein bowl: Buddha bowl
google avatar

Yelp
The herb scramble is tasty. The fruits are fresh, but there are a few things that I don't like: 1. Coffee regular are charged. WTF. You pay $3 and then have to pay $2.5 more for a refill?!?? 2. No jam. What do I put on my toast? 3. Very average service

Reshma B.

Yelp
Delicious food using fresh locally sourced ingredients. Service was really great and super fast too (even 30 mins before closing!). Highly recommend the vegan banh mi and pear smoothie. Definitely coming back here again soon.

Yelp
Some places just feel like home as soon as you step foot in the door. Precita Park Cafe is like that. A spacious, unassuming coffeehouse vibe that occupies the corner of the neighborhood overlooking Precita Park. Cool art on the walls, great soundtrack that had me hitting shazam repeatedly over the course of breakfast. I'm there on a Sunday morning and it's the loveliest of sunny fall days. The dog traffic is adorable, as are the sleepy eyed locals stumbling in for coffee. I ordered the herb scramble with tater tots, and a side of bacon. Cup of coffee, cream please. I was given a number and mug of hot coffee. I found a table in the window, (although there's lots of outdoor seating too). Food took about 5 mins! I ran to the back and washed up in the spotless bathroom area. Then came back and tucked i to a most scrumptious breakfast scramble with chives and goat cheese. Everything was seriously delicious, I sadly filled up and there was still a piece of bacon and some tots left at the end. So folks, it's simple. Should you find yourself in the Bayshore area of SF, go check out this charming anchor to the neighborhood by Precita park. You'll be glad you did. It's an easy find right, not too far off the 101.
google avatar

Kaylan S.

Yelp
Went in for a sandwich and a cookie. Came out with a vegan banh mi and a chocolate chip cookie. But.... Wtf is this??! Grilled bread, cabbage, jalapeños, grilled pineapple, some sad mint and carrot shreds. Please remove this from the menu ASAP. :((( Two stars for good cookies, I guess.
google avatar

Janan R.

Yelp
Come here pretty often, good drinks and food, nice space with a good view of the park. Service could be a bit faster but they're usually quite busy. Still a coffee shop I go to regularly!
google avatar

Ben N.

Yelp
Food is fine and people are nice, but food is so slow to come out. No idea why it takes so long, ordered a quesadilla for the kids. Also quesadilla was pretty marginal.
google avatar

Barbara D.

Yelp
Live in the area and this is usually my last resort. The ambiance and service is fine, everyone is nice. However, the quality of the food and coffee is consistently poor, especially for a such a steep price. I have received stale bagels, mochas with the chocolate not mixed in, a grilled cheese with cold cheese, etc. Each time I think it will be okay, I am disappointed. Wish we had better options closer to precita when Charlie's is closed.

Julia S.

Yelp
Love the location especially on weekdays when I need to get out of the apartment but still be productive. Hot food is hit and miss but the pastries and coffee are solid. The staff are great and don't mind if you take a table for hours. Prices are high but considering how relaxed they are about how long I may hold a two person table by myself I call it fair. Great sunlight and solid wifi for working is nice.
google avatar

Amy D.

Yelp
Had a hearty breakfast sandwich this morning. Toasty English Muffin, fluffy scrambled eggs, bacon, tomato, mayo and arugula. Frothy soy latte in a beautiful blue ceramic mug. Nice view out the window of Precita park. All made for a great start to my Friday.
google avatar

Amy S.

Yelp
Incredibly horrible service. We came here at 1pm on Sunday. Surprising there were almost no customers. However, the cook spent the entire time making our meal while holding his iPhone in his other hand. Our food took 15 minutes longer than the online order said. There was no effort put in by the cook or the lady at the register. Our BLT was sloppy. Bacon lumped in one side and tomato on other (note it was all made one handed). Our other sandwich was missing one of the two ingredients we ordered. The lady at the front was not attentive. When the order was finally ready, she didn't call it out. By the time I finally got the food the smoothie had separated. Very disappointing- not coming back.

Andreas S.

Yelp
Service is rough. They forgot my order and I had to go remind them multiple times. 1 hour later I left empty handed. No excuse given. Go somewhere else. Anywhere else.
google avatar

Jaqueline S.

Yelp
One of my worst experiences: -First of all I saw so many flies in the pastry case which is gross -They put rotten/bad fruits in the smoothies -I heard a worker saying that they had bugs in the back and one of the girls there was talking about how they hate kids and were talking so much trash about customers -There was a worker there who was talking bad about the manager there saying that he kept the place dirty and didn't know how to run it The moment I walked in the environment felt so negative and toxic that it's ridiculous. Idk about everyone else but my morals do no align with this kind of company

Yelp
My wife and I pretty much hate this cafe. Have been in this city forever and whenever we happen to be around this park there's basically no other convenient food option. Each time we last resort this place we regret it. It's super slow, snobby & sloppy service, just has a don't-care vibe hidden behind a nice looking techie parent facade. Lots of eateries have meh service in SF but at least the food is good. The food is very mediocre after long waits.
