Tries crawfish étouffée, a stew of local crawfish boiled in a roux of butter and flour, along with a trinity of onions, celery and bell peppers, chopped green onions, water and Cajun spices (paprika, cayenne, garlic powder, white and black pepper, and chicken base), all mixed together and sprinkled with parsley,

Very good dining experience and food were very flavorful. Our waiter,Toby, did an excellent job engaging with us and gave thoughtful recommendations on menu items to consider. Gumbo was very flavorful, potato salad as well. Fried shrimp was very good. The hamburger was thick and juicy. It was very nice to hear Toby being very open and sincere with his guidance and recommendations.

I’ve been coming here for the last 18 years. Although the menu has changed, the food is always good, fresh, and served piping hot. Tonight selection was Chargrilled Ousters and the Seafood Platter. Bring your “A” game, the platter has a lot if food on it. My server, Karlie did a fantastic job this evening! Keep up the great work.

Google
The food is great, moderately priced. We had a platter with fish fillets, shrimp, oysters, crayfish tails, gator, fries, and hush puppies. It was enough for two. The cheesecake was very good, the Graham cracker crust was thick which was nice.

Google
I would rate it 3 out of 5 ⭐️ primarily because many of the items we were interested in were prepared with pork, specifically Tasso, which seemed to accompany several dishes. The Crispy Brussel Sprouts were good and flavorful. We also ordered the Crab Cake Vermillion, which had a strong and distinct taste, but was surprisingly enjoyable. As a Marylander, my assessment was less about the crab cake itself and more about the overall concept and finished product. My wife ordered the 1/2 & 1/2 platter, which wasn't her first choice, but she opted for it because everything else she wanted came with pork. The Firecracker Shrimp, while not hot and spicy as expected, had a nice, clean taste. If you enjoy Tasso, this restaurant would likely be a great fit for you!

We were in town to celebrate my granddaughter’s graduation. Everything we ordered was wonderful. I especially like the eggplant stuffed with seafood. It was wonderful and the char grilled oysters are the best we ever had. We loved it so much that we ate there 2 nights in a row.

Google
We stopped on our way back to Texas and the food was so good! I ordered fried Blue crab fingers, so delicious!! I think they would have been better grilled to taste the crab more but they were still delish. The crab cake was delish as well!

Yelp
Today was our 2nd time dining here and our visit was just as amazing as it was a year ago!! The food was awesome! Our server, Dionte', provided us with impeccable service with a smile! He had the sweetest personality! We will be back!

Yelp
Prejean's!!! How I wish there was one in CA. Was recommended by a friend. Prejean's did not disappoint. This was by far one of the of the best creole restaurants I've been to. The place is decorated like an authentic bayou restaurant. Beautiful wood everywhere and even had a stage for music. You're also treated by a large alligator at the front. But now the food!! Oh boy, please go hungry. Prejean's serves great portions. But the quality and taste are above the rest. I had the Prejean's Seafood Platter with a side of Seafood Gumbo. Oh the Gumbo!!! That was the best Roux I've ever had in my life. This is a must order side. Now I also had another show stealer... the Chargrilled Oysters!!! OMG, the flavor from the grill came infused in those oysters. The cheese bacon and char flavor... This was a "MUST have item". You will not regret it. Love me some Cajun food at Prejean's

Yelp
Overrated. The prices are way too high and the food isn't great. The chicken and sausage gumbo was chunky but lacked flavor and depth. The "stuffed" shrimp were not jumbo shrimp stuffed but a salad shrimp "stuffed" into doughy tasting ball. I originally thought they accidentally gave me mushy dirty rice instead of dirty grits but no, the grits were just crumbly, dry and tasteless. We also had a spicy dill Bloody Mary. It wasn't spicy at all and all we could taste was pickled okra. On the high side, the chargrilled oysters were good, the staff were pleasant and the place was clean. Still, probably won't return.

Yelp
Terrific flavor. Prompt Service. Always friendly atmosphere. CRÈME BRULEE was superb!

Yelp
Our server was fantastic! We tried a lot of menu items and some hit or missed. The gumbo was just alright if you like a dark roux almost burnt. The crab and corn bisque was really thick and flavored well. All of the grilled oyster options were great! The fried platter was enough for 2. The shrimp and grits were not the same as you would expect to get anywhere else. Lots of small shrimp with some "dirty grits" that I didn't care for. Some sauce that clearly should be on a pasta because it was good but not on grits. Just not for me. The creme brûlée was not set and had one bad strawberry on it. We were told the cheesecake was frozen. The fried whole slice of bread pudding with white chocolate sauce was good! They had a pastry chef but dessert was underwhelming.

Yelp
Crispy bread po'boys, the way they should be! Friendly staff and nice environment. A lovely little gem of a place.

Yelp
Place is not what I remembered it to be. We drive an extra hour just to be so disappointed in food quality. It was ok it's just not amazing like I remember spending months at a time in LA years ago The kids menu items were terrible and over cooked my kids didn't eat it rather than ordering something else we are going somewhere else. My past favorite crawfish enchiladas were mostly just cheese even though I did find a couple really really small crawfish I doubt I would stop again when driving through. The waiter was nice and polite so that was a star

Yelp
Had a Taste for some good Cajun pasta while visiting the area for the crawfish festival. Googled some Places nearby and saw the Menu here and was instantly attracted !! 1pm time wasn't crowded. Our waitress Brooke was amazing gave some great food recommendations!! I started with the Rockefeller oysters and wowzer packed with flavor so much I found myself sucking the shell pretty much ! Please try the duck gumbo it was absolutely delicious I've never had anything like it!!. It has some Kick to it but omg! I will definitely be back just for that gumbo !! The seafood gumbo was ok but the duck was hands Down my favorite! I had the blackened shrimp Alfredo which was absolutely scrumptious friend had some fried oysters from report was equally delicious! We both agreed we would be back anytime traveling down East I10!! Brook you rock and you know why !!!!!!

Yelp
We came here for lunch with our friends from Ireland because we wanted them to be able to taste authentic Cajun food and they loved it! The service was attentive and very knowledgeable. He gave suggestions described the meal dishes for them and was very patient. They ordered alligator bites, crawfish étouffée, seafood gumbo, Duck and andouille gumbo, seafood platter, Corn & shrimp bisque, fried shrimp, red beans, and rice, and all the dishes were delicious! The only thing that I can think of that would add to the Cajun experience would be Cajun music in the background. Yes, I recommend this place

Yelp
We went in late, close to closing and they seated us and were so friendly from the start. Our waitress was very attentive, answered our questions and was so nice. It has a cute cabin in the bayou feel and the decor flowed so well. There was a family-friendly atmosphere for sure. The food was great. We thoroughly enjoyed the fried green tomatoes!!!
google avatar

Holly M.

Yelp
The food is top tier, as usual! That authentic seafood gumbo though, my favorite food and they did it well. The drinks were great, the waiter was phenomenal for our large party. We threw jokes around and he threw them right back! We loved it! The only think I didn't like was the price of drinks, way too much imo.

Yelp
We come here for works bit. The service is amazing... they are all great. The food is a very traditional southern fried seafood joint. If you want good fried seafood, this is it. We also tried crawfish once too.

Yelp
Solid 4.5 stars Some of the better Cajun food I have had in a long time. 100% worth a stop if you are in the area. We stopped in on a weekday at lunch. There was plenty of space and we were seated quickly. Service was overall top good. We had a party of 6 and everyone liked their food. I think I enjoyed my dish the most of the group. Everyone else just had fried platters. The comment was there was salt inconsistency. Some dishes seemed overly salty while others lack salt. I can verify that I sampled a few items from other plates and agree with this assessment. That and a small order misunderstanding is the only thing keep it from 5 star. Shrimp Trinity: Shrimp and grits are not what many here in Texas are used to. Their grits are more fine ground closer to a mashed potato, with a smoother texture. The dish itself was great, some very good flavors and I honestly cleaned the plate using the French bread. The fried shrimp were a large size and nicely flavored, the batter was crunchy. Stuffed shrimp. Was good and had a tasty sauce on it. Green Beans: Some of the best green beans I have had at a restaurant in a long time. Maque-Choux: Very good Maque choux severed in a miniature pie crust. It was good and would recommend if you like corn. I would say that this is a great place to try and 100% worth a stop if you are driving through Lafayette. I would recommend and Return!

Yelp
We had Brenan as our waiter. He was wonderful, very friendly, and competent. Definitely deserves a higher wage. The food was delicious, And Everyone had a great time. We definitely recommend this business. Also, the decor is beautiful.

Yelp
Stopped at Prejeans on a trip through Lafayette on our way west. We had reservations on a Tuesday evening but didn't need them. The young ladies who greeted us were very nice. We were seated quickly. A slight wait for our server was tolerable. We had grilled oysters supreme for an appetizer. My wife, who doesn't usually eat oysters agreed they were superb. My wife had the crawfish enchiladas. They were very tasty. They were also too much to finish. Came with dirty rice and corn. I had the gator po-boy. Excellent! French fries. Our server, Nate, was helpful, and attentive, but not overwhelming. They were starting "music" when we were finishing so we escaped that nonsense! Sounded like cats in a sack, fighting.

Yelp
Wow! Recommended by a New Orleans local, this place did not disappoint at all! The atmosphere it exactly what you'd hope for from a classic Louisiana spot, the decor is fun and you're right in the swamp! There is a large stage for a band, sadly no live music when we were here but I can tell that it must be super lively when there is a band! Our server was extremely friendly, prompt, and guided us perfectly through the menu. We were going to order something and asked his opinion and he was honest about the flavors and ended up leading us to something even more delicious. The food was DELICIOUS! Everything had such a unique, bold flavor. My personal favorite were the Char-Grilled Oysters Supreme, WOW. Bursting with buttery flavor, somehow these oysters manage to incapsulate the light saltiness of the sea while also being smothered in butter, cheese, bacon, and jalapeños. Another favorite was the Smoked Duck and Andouille Gumbo, so warm and savory with the perfect hint of spice. And don't let us forget that Top Shelf Margarita that really packed a punch! Wonderful experience overall and I desperately wished I lived in the area so I could bring all of my friends here! 5/5 for sure!

Sandra G.

Yelp
Everything they serve is spicy and I cannot eat spicy food. I went one time and asked if there was anything it was not spicy and the waitress said I don't think so.. so it's my list.

Katriel K.

Yelp
The food and waitstaff were fabulous! Everyone was so kind and helpful. The restaurant itself is really cool, live music and surrounded by art/decor that swamp inspired.

Yelp
Quite possibly one of the best meals we've ever had. We went to the Broussard location. Jazz was an excellent, friendly server, but it was the food that rocked our world. Let's start with dessert. The creme brulee was the best we've ever had. Ever. Otherworldly creamy with a perfect burnt sugar topping. I thought I knew good crab cakes, but these were on another level. Made up of tasty crab, there was very little filler and the sauce on top was just right, not too salty not, not overpowering. The eggplant was sublime. Crunchy on the outside, creamy inside. My husband raved about the etouffe and hush puppies. We'd eat every meal here if we could. The prices are high, so go in with that expectation but know the food will be fabulous and expertly prepared from high quality ingredients. It's worth every penny. This was a meal we'll be talking about for the next ten years.

Yelp
Cute little place with easy access and a good size parking lot. It's very loud, even at lunch, either no band. Tried the seafood gumbo, loved it. The avocado salad was excellent. The hamburger plate was HUGE. Our server was very attentive and fixed problems immediately! Everyone was pleased.

Yelp
We wanted some authentic Cajun food and this was where we went! Located directly off the main road, plenty of parking made it a quick and easy stop. It truly looks like an authentic southern restaurant from the street and while walking through the doors. We started with catfish bites and they were pretty good. For my meal, I had the platter of fried shrimp, fried Gator, hush puppies, and fries. It was all pretty good and tons of food. My colleague had the Catfish Grand Chenier I believe (?) It was also a huge portion and he thought it was pretty good. He basically let the waitress pick and she suggested this. All of our food were great dishes to try a variety of Cajun options, which is exactly what we wanted. Overall, great staff, clean dining room, huge menu, and quality southern recipes.

Yelp
My wife and I went here on our way back from New Orleans. I saw the restaurant was recommended on Reddit and also it was also praised by our NOLA family. We arrived for lunch and were immediately greeted by our waiter. We ordered the crispy Cajun sprouts as an appetizer. The Brussels sprouts were delicious. Nice and crunchy with a sauce and jalapeños that added just the right amount of heat to the dish. We both ordered a bowl of gumbo. I got the chicken and andouille sausage gumbo. The chicken and sausage were so fresh and the roux was hearty and flavor-filled with just a little kick. The dish came with a tasty roll and rice to add to the gumbo. The ambiance was relaxed and our waiter was great. The restaurant is just a little off I-10 and well worth the stop for those traveling across Louisiana. We will be back next time we pass through Lafayette!

Yelp
We were looking for a local favorite restaurant, and found it. We love the food we ordered and the ambiance. The service was great. Clean restroom. There was a life band, music not too loud. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Food was absolutely delish! Definitely get the shrimp... Red Snapper was yummy too! Service was excellent! Waiter had great recommendations and went above and beyond. Establishment was clean and lighting was perfect. 10/10 would recommend!

Yelp
I was in Lafayette & came across this place searching for lunch! I am so glad that I decided to check them out! It was pretty busy when I arrived! Our waiter was super sweet! He answered any questions & provided recommendations! The Char-Grilled oysters were ok. The Cajun sprouts were delicious! The pasta topped with fried crawfish was delicious! I would stop in again if I'm ever in the area!

C G.

Yelp
If you are in Lafayette do yourself a favor and go here. The smoked duck and andouille gumbo is the treat. The crawfish étouffée amazing. Enjoy an old-fashioned at the bar the staff is top notch. Those lil' biscuits... "a man can't live on bread alone", these will make you think about trying.
google avatar

Bobbye A.

Yelp
Great experience here! I had the gumbo & salad lunch special and added a side of dirty grits. The gumbo was good and the grits were okay but the surprise winner of the day was the salad! The chicken was really well seasoned and not dry at all, and the parmesan vinaigrette was delicious. Service was super friendly. I was also very happy with the volume of the music, as it can be really loud at some places. All in all, I had a really nice relaxing lunch.
google avatar

Brennon B.

Yelp
I took a friend over for her birthday. I haven't eaten here in over 10 years although I haven't been around I've never heard nothing negative about the food which means where from it means no news is good news. I had to seafood platter tonight and I'm a scale I want to 10 it was a solid 10 and my friend had catfish Ponchartrain it was a 10 on a scale of one to 10. I recommend anyone here in the Carencro location .

Lexi D.

Yelp
Best Cajun food around with the full Cajun atmosphere. Staff was amazing and very attentive.
google avatar

Daniel D.

Yelp
The food (fried shrimp platter) was not good, hush puppies were burnt (dark dark brown). When we mentioned this to the server they were replaced with a new burnt batch (we were all finished eating already anyway). If There is any positive feedback the server was ok. This restaurant has gone down tremendously- used to be pretty good but I will never ever go back !
google avatar

Hope C.

Yelp
I really enjoyed their food. We ordered the "Fried Green Tomatoes" as an appetizer and they weren't bad, but had to much breading. I ordered the "Da Cou-Yon" Burger as my main dish. It was over the top. The waiters & waitresses were very friendly and punctual. I can't wait to come back and get me some good grub.
google avatar

Justin S.

Yelp
Never been disappointed after a meal here. Good service with tremendous food. Everything I've tried has been excellent, which is saying something given the breadth of their menu.
google avatar

Anthony L.

Yelp
I want to start off by saying this: The restaurant itself is open and nice. My wife and I were greeted and immediately seated. The waitress was very friendly, nice and took great care of us during our meal. I gave it only one star because the food just isn't prepared for me. I can't do spicy and this was VERY spicy food...for me at least. We started with the FRIED GREEN TOMATOES. They come topped with crawfish etoufee, green onions and topped with smoked tomato butter. They started off great but by the second one my sinuses were wide open! My nose was running like water. Spicey spicey spicey. It was plated very nice. My wife had the EGGPLANT ANGELLE for her meal. It was plated very nice. I tried it and didn't care for it. She liked it but it was the same as the FRIED GREEN TOMATOES...spicy. I had FRIED SHRIMP and CATFISH FILLETS for my meal. Again, it was served very nicely. The shrimp had a very good taste and weren't overly battered. The fish fillets were nice and meaty but must have been coated in red pepper flakes because they were really spicey. The fries and hushpuppies were great. Another thing I didn't care for was the tempature of the food itself. I certainly don't want my food just warm but it was just steaming hot when they brought it out and it stayed that way. I just don't like eating food that's so hot I can't taste it. I know this is a go-to place there but it's just not for me. For me it was also a little pricey. We left out paying $70.82 including the tip.

Yelp

Yelp
After having heard many favorable reviews of Prejeans seafood restaurant, and while driving through on my way to Pineville Louisiana. I stopped in to check it out. I was impressed with the ambience as it was rustic and very clean. I know sooner sat down before my waiter came up to take my order. I tried the seafood platter which came with a cup of gumbo and also wanted to try the Boudan flatbread. Of course my eyes were bigger than my stomach and I wound up taking some home. Mr Tyler visited my table several times, keeping me abreast of what was going on with my order and how long it may take. The first entrée that came out was the Boudin flatbread. I ate a few pieces and set it to the side, knowing that I wouldn't be able to eat all of the flatbread and finish my main entrée at the same time. My second course was the seafood gumbo prepaid with a dark rue with just a little bit of spice and heat. It had quite a bit of shrimp in it and there was a little bit of rice on the side that I could put in the gumbo if I chose. It was delicious and then of course my main meal came out which was the seafood platter. The platter had an array of fried oysters, clams and catfish and hush puppies all displayed on the bed of seasoned fries. It was an attractive presentation all around and the food was delicious. Will I go back? Only if I go through Lafayette again, which I most certainly will, I was told they now had a second location located inside the city of Lafayette!

Yelp
Today was my 4th time to try this restaurant. I love the ambiance, but I was a little disappointed today, especially with the service. They sat us in a small booth in the bar area. We didn't really have a waiter. One of the bartenders took our order, and he seemed like we were taking him away from his real job. I only left him a 10% tip. Fried shrimp and fries were great. Twice baked potato was good, and hot. Blackened snapper was lukewarm, dry and tasteless. (It was $35!) Asparagus was lukewarm. Spinach was cold! They have a stage, but rarely have a band. This place is way overpriced. Not impressed today.

Alan H.

Yelp
My friend and I reserved a table here for 7.30pm on Wednesday 12 June 2024. We arrived precisely on time and after reviewing the menu and taking advice from our waitress, Elise, just after 8.00pm we ordered two cups of gumbo, shrimp trilogy and the egg plant pirogue. Due to bad experiences elsewhere in Lafayette we felt the need to stress that we wanted all our food hot; not lukewarm, not warm, but HOT. We particularly stressed that we wanted the soup to be very hot. However when the soup came out in around 5 minutes, it wasn't even warm. We looked around for our waitress but she was nowhere to be seen. After waiting about 5 minutes I asked another waitress if she could find our waitress, but Elise still did not appear. The next table had been serviced three times while we were waiting. Their waitress realised that we had an issue and came over to enquire if she could help with anything. I asked her to get the manager but he didn't appear despite the fact that I could see him working on a computer every time the kitchen door opened. We were then approached by a third person who confirmed that she was not the manager but was taking over service at our table. I told her that she was not; and again requested the manager but he still didn't appear. Elise eventually reappeared. I told her that I had already twice asked to speak to the manager and that if he didn't want to speak to me, we would be leaving. After waiting more than 10 minutes all told, we got up to leave. Just then the manager appeared and enquired about our "bad experience". I told him everything that had happened including the fact that I had had to ask for him three times. His excuse was that he had been dealing with his paperwork and had sent out his "lead waitress". Clearly dealing with his paperwork was more important to him than dealing with his customers. I told him that no one would disrespect me in that way and we left the restaurant.

Yelp
Just stopping by on our way home and found this place on Yelp. Everything was pretty good, the only that that knocked them down a star is the wait time. We were seated right away but it was more about the wait time for appetizers and food. I ordered the Crawfish Enchiladas, those were pretty tasty. I'm not a huge fan of enchiladas with a flour tortilla because they get mushy, that was the case here but it was still good. My fiancé recommends the Soft Shell Crab BLT.. he said it was great. Kids meals - Burger and Shrimp.. both pretty standard but good. Fries a little cold. We also had the Rockefeller Oysters and those....... WERE DELICIOUS!! It's also hard to beat the environment Live music provides! Great quick stop for dinner.

Yelp
Phillip was our waiter and was awesome! We were passing through from Texas and headed out NO for a Disney cruise. I had the shrimp Trinity and hubby had the ahi tuna salad. Both were amazing. My kids ate nothing the gator nugs and burger were to spicy. Not their fault. My kids are weak Texas babies! Lol

Angie B.

Yelp
Had a nice lunch of salad, 2 chicken strips and a bowl of gumbo. Just enough for lunch and well prepared. I would order this again. In the past I have found the food to be more spice than flavor so I was pleased.

Abe N.

Yelp
Mr Lester was my server and he was very nice! Food was amazing!!! Def glad I stopped by here

Yelp
Stopped on the way home from a friend's wedding weekend. Had corn and crab bisque to start. Had to send it back because it wasn't warm. But once it was it was very flavorful. I had Pasta Magnolia that was very good. The husband had crawfish etoufee that he loved. Friend had fried shrimp platter and her husband had Zydeco stuffed shrimp that he loved. Try it out if you are this way! Zydeco music and a great atmosphere.

Yelp
For the past 40 years I have been an ambassador for Prejean's. I have recommended them to everyone that I have known to drive through Louisiana, I live in Dallas and drive to Florida at minimum of 3 to 4 time a year. Planning my trips around being able to stop and enjoy their food. I have visited with Mom an Dad, watched them hand the reigns over to family members, and finally being sold to Tim Metcalf, who I had the pleasure of meeting and discussing his plans for the restaurants future menu. He told me that the Chicken / sausage gumbo and the duck / sausage gumbo were going to not be changed. That was music to my ears, since they were my favorite. Every time I stop there to eat I have always left with four to six tubs of the award winning gumbo for my customers and friends, That equates to about $150.00 each visit. Which the manager would always give me 10% off on. Well times have definitely changed. On my last visit, on 10/03, , The only thing that stayed true to my past experiences was Jonathan, my server. He was excellent. Very attentive. Shared stories of the past years at Prejean's. It wen down hill from there. The award winning gumbo, while still good, was changed. Just averaged. When I ask Jonathan if I was still getting 10% off on the 6 tubs I was buying for my customers and friends in Florida, he told me he had to check with the manager. He came back and said she told him "no". I asked to speak with her. She came over. I told her of my years of being a loyal customer and spreading the word about the restaurant and she repeated "No". It was now becoming "a point" to me. I asked her to call the owner or her supervisor, which she supposedly did. When she came back from the "supposed" call, the answer was still "No". I have owned my own business for years and since when does a "manager" not have the authority to make a simple management decision like this for a good customer or for a customer dissatisfied with their food or service. With the quality of food going down and the poor management skills experienced on this visit, I hate to say "Its just another restaurant" on the highway that is not worth going out of the way for. Very, very sad.

Yelp
Prejean's has the best Cajun food there ever was. Even tho l live about 3 hours north from there, l still travel there from time to time just to enjoy the food and atmosphere. If you have never eaten there, give it a try. You will not be disappointed.
