I love small plates as a food presentation style. The place has a very cool vibe. I chose a wonderful little seating area instead of a table in which to enjoy my meal. I couldn't decide between several different things, so I got th PK salad, the bison ravioli with mushroom cream sauce, and risotto sliders, along with a mocktail Aperol spritzer. I'll have to take a piece of the sweet goat cheese/pear compote cheesecake home with me so I have a chance to get hungry again before I enjoy that part of this meal.

Google
I have never been left so speechless. The food was absolutely phenomenal, the atmosphere- top notch isn’t even reaching the level this place offers and the service, friendly is an understatement. If you want to enjoy your time with others or by yourself, this place checks both boxes. Want to try something new without breaking the bank, also checks that box. My only recommendation- Start with the sticky toffee pudding!

Google
First time! We tried the lamb sliders and the lobster roll. I loved the lamb sliders. Not sure if the lobster roll doesn’t transport as well or if the meat is supposed to be cold? I didn’t like that. But I also, as a Montanan, do not eat lobster rolls often so. As you can see it was prepared beautifully. We will be back to try new things!

Google
WOW!! This is a tremendous place. I have been here twice — once in 2019 and now 2024 — phenomenal both times. This is the sort of place I wish I could give 6 out of 5 stars too. I’d totally give it a Michelin star in the way that originally meant a place to go out of your way to eat out — it’s worth it! It is fun, with really eager, knowledgeable, professional staff. The chef’s were also willing to speak for a brief second to us on our way out. The decor is so cool, funky, and upscale relaxed. It is not stuff. There were kids to senior adults there. The food — I wish I could have ordered everything on the menu. Nonetheless, we couldn’t, ha! The starters: Pimento Cheese — great!! Meat board — two selections of salami and a chicken liver pâté. Edamame with a umami sauce. All the starters were so tasty. The mains: Brussel Sprouts — goodness, the grilled sprouts with some sort of sweet chili sauce — delicious! The Mushroom Skewer — THIS! This was the unexpected MVP. Didn’t think they’d be that great! The Bison Ravioli — such a tremendous flavor — creamy, umami, earthy, and parmesan cheese. The pork chop — meaty, grilled, with some earthy, miso-like, earthy sauce. It was great. My dad literally no-lie gnawed the bone. Desserts: we had two. The Crisp was a berry and cherry crumble sort of dish — and very good! The real winner was the sticky toffee pudding. Wow! Brown sugary, rich, spice cake flavors. The drink: I had the PK Margarita…and then another one. It was sweet and just hit the spot. Y’all. As a person from the south who has lived amongst good food and eaten the world over — this is a place to make a purposeful journey to if any where in Montana.

Google
Let me tell you what!! We love this restaurant, the food is always amazing and the staff are always so friendly. We came in for brunch today with 8 of us, Austin sat us in the back room and made sure we were taken care of. The food was 10 out of 10, and the atmosphere was absolutely lovely. We will continue to go here and eat, this restaurant in my opinion is the best in Red Lodge!! Don't miss out on this amazing food, the brunch is absolutely to die for!!!!!!

Google
We have truly found a gem in Red Lodge and will become frequent guests as this establishment is a true 5 star location. The food was excellent in taste and presentation no matter which menu item we chose. The wine selection was also excellent. And something that you do not find these days was the staff were all very friendly, professional, and attentive throughout our meal. It doesn't get any better than that! Our only concern is that it will become so popular, it will need a larger dining area or you will have to make reservations weeks in advance! I would give it MORE stars if I could. Thank you all for for a magical dining experience!

Yelp
This was an outstanding experience from start to end. The restaurant is set up counter service where you order at the front, and then your food will be delivered to your table by the friendly staff. It has an eclectic, cozy feel to it and you are immediately welcomed as you enter the door. Food is served tapas style which I liked because we were able to try more things! Things we ordered: Pork belly: Smoky and super flavorful, had a nice labneh sauce with it Brussels sprouts: Deliciously coated in buffalo cause and Gorgonzola cheese Broccolini: one of my favorites, paired with pine nuts and a salsa verde sauce Duck & Foie Sausage: Hearty sausage paired with creamed leeks- interesting flavor combos here! Lamb sliders: I liked these paired with goat cheese but nothing special Sticky toffee pudding: decadent caramel delight! Order this! Drinks: Watermelon cucumber margarita (made with agave wine) super refreshing and strong I was impressed by the unique flavor combinations of the dishes and overall experience I had here. Great place that offers local Red Lodge cuisine!

Yelp
The Brussels sprouts are probably the best I've ever eaten and I've eaten a lot. They have a buffalo sauce on them but it is house made and it is lighter than other buffalo sauce Brussels. The decor is funky and fun. Love it. I've never seen a wall decorated with baking tins but way cool. We liked it so much that we ate there two days in a row. We tried the risotto sliders, summer salad, bison ravioli, steak, and the pot trio. The menu/ordering is on the different side. The menu is on a board and you order at the counter - not anything bad just different- probably helps with hiring.

Yelp
Great food...great service. Ask for Kate's help if you aren't certain what to get. There doesn't seem to be any bad food on the menu

Joel W.

Yelp
The best food we found in all of Red Lodge. Awesome atmosphere, great people, reasonable prices, big servings and amazing food. The smothered fries were out of this world good, and the cod was perfect, with a wonderful homemade tartar sauce. Highly recommend making this a stop during your visit!

CR B.

Yelp
Small plates creative menu, my date had the lamb sliders and I had the Nashville hot chicken. Very busy. Nice wine selection.

Amy V.

Yelp
Wonderful food and fun atmosphere. The brussels sprouts were the best I have ever had and the risotto sliders were delicious. Ordering and seating were a little confusing, but besides that it was great.

Brenda H.

Yelp
After Dr ing from Yellowstone on the Bear Tooth Highway, we stopped for lunch at their Prerogative Kitchen. The food was absolutely delicious! We tried the crispy Brussel sprouts, beer battered cod, honey baked chicken, house cut fries, fried shrimp, and large mixed green salad. We loved the flavors and would highly recommend this restaurant!

Melissa S.

Yelp
I usually love this restaurant. I don't live in red Lodge so I come here on special occasions. Every single time I've been here. I've had amazing food. Today, unfortunately, was the exception. I ordered the shrimp which was without flavor at best. I also ordered the Bavette steak medium. When it came out, the waitress asked me if that temperature of steak was OK because she felt it looked very rare. I agreed and so she took it back. When it came back out, there was so much sauce on it that you couldn't tell what the steak looked like. In fact, you couldn't taste the steak at all. I barely ate half of the entrée. It was very disappointing. I also ordered the dessert on their menu which consisted of supposedly Panna cotta among other things. When it came out, it was very beautiful. A layered dessert. I wish it tasted as good as it looked. it was extremely dry. I took two bites and left the rest. I hope this was just an off night, but especially with the price I paid, it was very disappointing.

Tod D.

Yelp
Do you understand fine, Dining, this restaurant would be one of the better restaurants you could eat at in Europe. Absolutely amazing, meticulous, selection of ingredients, everything cooked to perfection, one of the best restaurants we've ever been to. Perfection.

Yelp
While on vacation we drove the Beartooth Highway, and hit Red Lodge about 7pm. We looked online and found Prerogative Kitchen and the menu sounded unique (tired of the same old things!) so we decided to give it a try. Lots of choices that sounded good. My wife and I started with the tuna nachos ( which I admit was scary for me ordering tuna in Montana). The nachos were excellent. Very good. My wife ordered the lamb sliders and said they were some of the best cooked lamb she has had. Perfectly cooked. I could not pass up the Bone marrow. When the plate came I saw 1/2 a bone with about 12 pieces of baguette. I thought for $16 that was too high, and then as I was eating, I realized that was not baguettes on the bottom but another 1/2 of bone marrow. And it was so tasty and so filling. Loved every bite. If you make it into Red Lodge I recommend this cozy, unique place. Glad we found it.

Kelly A.

Yelp
Sticky toffee pudding was amaze balls. I would go again if in Red Lodge. Super good food!

Ann E.

Yelp
Had beer battered cod and it was great. This Restaurant was very quaint with interesting decor. The muffin pan wall was truly interesting. Thank you for making our visit good.

Rhonda F.

Yelp
Must have been a new cook when we were there as this place had so many good reviews. However we found the PK burger patty large but the onions were soggy, spinach on top was wimpy too. It tasted just okay, nothing special. The Lamb sliders didn't taste like lamb, maybe too many toppings & spices hid the flavor. The fries were barely cooked & very wimpy. The sticky pudding caramel sauce was undercooked & had a gritty texture. I wouldn't recommend.

Mel M.

Yelp
Wow, what a fantastic spot! Drove the Beartooth Highway and stopped for lunch in Red Lodge. I had read positive reviews, and they were right! One of the best meals I've eaten at a restaurant in recent memory, anywhere, and it was in this tiny charming place in Montana. The menu had lots of items I wanted, and it's set up so you can try several small dishes. Easy to share. Lots of vegetarian items available. The food and service are elevated and the decor is quirky and quaint. It's got a comfortable casual atmosphere, nice for just kicking back and really enjoying their fresh and unique offerings. I'd go back in a heartbeat and would absolutely recommend to anyone. I understand it may be for sale, so I hope the same excellence will continue under new ownership. Don't ruin a good thing! This is a special place!

Marie C.

Yelp
Busy, bustling place on a holiday weekend. Food portions were much larger than typical tapas. So we over ordered! Cod had little flavor & seemed fried in old oil. Mushroom dish was better, sauce tasty. Loved the lentil dish with naan, but wish there had been more naan and the lentils not sweetened so much. Pork chop very good.

Matt W.

Yelp
food was amazing my husband had the Nashville hot chicken sandwich which was very delicious and saucey!! I had the risotto sliders to my surprise were so good, flavorful and so tasty! we also ordered the tarragon fries and kids sliders. all was so good!! The environment was so sweet and homey, service was great and warm feeling!! we will for sure be back here when passing through Red Lodge

Mike J.

Yelp
Best restaurant in town? Certainly a contender!! Four of us enjoyed a fantastic dinner here. Great service, nice wine/beer selection, vegan friendly. It can get busy and they don't take reservations, we got on the waitlist and headed over to Magpie for drinks. Next time I'm in town I will be eating here again!

Samantha L.

Yelp
Great food and nice service. We stopped by prerogative kitchen after horse riding in red lodge and were not disappointed! This restaurant does not take reservations and was packed, however we were able to be seated immediately at the front windows. There is no outdoor seating, so beware if you're concerned for covid. The decorations inside are quirky and has a nice ambience. The menu rotates and you order at the counter for the food to be brought to you. There were also lots of vegetarian options. Because the items mostly consist of tapas/ small plates, the cashier also takes the time to separate the food into different "courses" if desired. Water is in self serve carafes. We ordered and shared food between two people, and felt that it was filling.

Lizzette R.

Yelp
Wonderful lunch with Anthony. Mussels and fires were on point! Variety of wine was appreciated. You can buy by the glass or a bottle. Very reasonably priced. The food was eclectic for the area. There was meat on the menu but if you need something other than a burger or a steak, this is the place to check out. Has a lot of vegan options.

Cassie A.

Yelp
The atmosphere reminds me of my parent's home decor growing up, eclectic retro feel. We ordered at the counter and sat down and they delivered the food. We had the meat plate and Serrano peppers, Both were delicious. Would definitely recommend.

Sarah B.

Yelp
Super cute place! Over in Nye visiting a friend and she knows the owner (January J says hi!) Brunch menu, fun drinks, and six out-of-towners = this will be epic! Brunch burger (bunless) with the strawberry side salad for me. The decor is super fun- their website says most of it was thrifted. Fits in beautiful with their mission and vision to be eco-friendly and close to earth. Lots of original artwork (for sale) along the walls. We're finding more and more unique details the longer we sit here (and drink!). The grapefruit mimosa is delightfully refreshing. The mood at the table is fun and enjoyable- the food has arrived and we have everything from my burger to pork belly to chicken and waffles. The rosemary maple syrup is almost a religious experience... we're trying to fingers out how we can get a gallon to go with us back to the cabin! Totally a five star atmosphere and the food is delicious!

Terry T.

Yelp
We ordered a PK burger and my adult children ordered crispy tofu. Both my wife and I thought that it was the worst hamburger we ever had. It was covered with soggy caramelized onions and served with a red sauce that we thought tasted horrible. We also ordered house fries, which were delicious, but we didn't care for the tarragon aioli. We had to ask for ketchup for the fries. My children could barely eat the tofu. It was prepared well, but neither of them could stand the sauce on them (they make this dish at home with a garlic, chili sauce, so it sounded good), but they couldn't bear the taste of the sauce. Finally, besides the fries, the staff were the other bright spot of the meal. Friendly and helpful. I likely will not eat here again unfortunately.

Cindy L.

Yelp
Absolutely loved the menu! (Vegetarian for me) met owner made sure to let them all know they were appreciated. We have been traveling for days and have had VERY LITTLE choices along our route with FRESH real food. Loved the atmosphere and don't mind the cost for something people put their heart and soul into and passion which in turns comes their what is presented and eaten. The highlight lol was the bathrooms please and go in both! Thank you for an experience!!! Thank you from Tennessee!!

Curt C.

Yelp
It's my prerogative! This place is amazing- it's such a great place making locally sourced, imaginative cuisine right in the middle of downtown Red Lodge along the Beartooth Highway. I started off with the rainbow trout mousse, which was smoky and rich- served with crustini, little hard pieces of bread. I also got the steak, which was served pre-cut, and drizzled with a sauce- served perfectly. We sat by the kitchen, and could overhear how tight of a ship the chef runs things- there was great communication on the timing of the dishes, how things were coming, when things were being plated. The kitchen ran like a well oiled machine. They offered a whole variety of craft beers, some of which were the weirder types of beers you typically wouldn't expect to see in Montana, but most of them were from local breweries. There was also a wine list, with the house wine being served up from kegs! The food was amazing- served up a la cart, with smaller portions that certainly can be shared tapas / family style. The decor is amazing- it's like a wildlife meets Alice in Wonderland kinda vibe. This place had my favorite bathroom of the city- with maybe fifty toilet paper roll holders in just one restroom. Yes- they're all hung properly. Be sure to check out the paint by numbers Last Supper near the back. This place has such awesome decor. Overall, the dining experience was quite positive, delicious and a great start to a sampling of local Red Lodge cuisine! I'd go back in a moment's notice!

Cathy L.

Yelp
Incredible food, unique surroundings, excellent waitstaff. Don't miss this spot in Red Lodge.

Krissy M.

Yelp
Food was delicious and quick! Ahi Nachos were a hit! Chicken was moist and flavorful - paired excellent with their Salad.

Tina R.

Yelp
We stopped by and had blueberry crisp and sticky toffee pudding and fresh press coffee. Everything tasted like my grandmas homemade pies! Soooo yummy! Got to meet the owner and master chef too! Thank you for wonderful time Chris!

Melissa D.

Yelp
Unbelievable food! Amazing orange lime margarita. Everything we ordered was off the hook!!

Joanna A.

Yelp
Outstanding! Food is always delicious! Great variety! Service is friendly and polite. Highly recommend the private room in the back for larger parties!

Thomas W.

Yelp
Food was fine I guess. I dont quite understand the whole concept of ordering up at the front rather than from a server. The place is small and could be served by two servers easily (which . My other gripe is with the plates my food was served on. I got a burger served to me on a cutting board. I got fries served to me in a bag which was then placed in a bowl. My fiancee got a salad served to her on a flat plate without any edges. Food was good otherwise but I dont know still just confused by a lot of things

Eric O.

Yelp
Please go to prerogative. It is great. The pimento cheese and sliders were spectacular and the price was great. My wife loved the toffee dessert. Great last dinner in Red Lodge.

Terri W.

Yelp
Everything from the excellent food to the friendly and efficient staff was 5 star! The owner-chef is creative with his menu and cares deeply about the success of his restaurant and his customers experience. The ambiance is casual yet the food is fine dining.

Kristin B.

Yelp
The best food in Red Lodge! The atmosphere and ambiance is so eclectic and original! Love this place!

Chassey W.

Yelp
We lucked out and caught the PK with no wait (that didn't last long-it was a 45 min wait when we left) We were greeted at the door and explained how their counter service worked. By the way, you can leave your ticket open until you leave. Just in case you want to order more! Ok, ok the food...I apologize for no photos this time. It was so good we just dug in. There really is something for everyone here. And with the small plates, they are able to put a lot of love into each. We started with the meat and cheese boards. Both were very good! Our table ordered: PK salad - (great mix of greens) Carrots - (parm & truffle -yum) Bison ravioli - (small plate but great with the pesto) Lobster roll - (a lot of bread but lobster was great) Shrimp - (5 shrimp cooked to perfection) Bavette steak - (we ordered medium well and probably ruined it - go med rare)

Kyle B.

Yelp
Very good food. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu. I do wish they would bring the hotdog back though.

Paula B.

Yelp
This is a must while visiting Red Lodge ! I did my research before coming to Montana so I already knew I wanted to visit this place. It was so delicious !!! As a extreme foodie I have to say this was such a beautiful gem all the way in Red Lodge The concept it's very new to me because I never been at this sort of restaurant where you order your food standing up at a register and the menu is behind of you while standing in line ,you pay and then you go sit at the table and they bring the food to you. I think they specialize in small dishes , we got ravioli ,bone marrow with bread (I never had it before and it was really really good and buttery), we had duck breast, lobster roll, also whipped cheese with date purée and for dessert we got the "blueberry cobbler" So my only let down was the "cobbler" I was very sad because we choose to get this one instead of the toffee pudding and we were very disappointed... basically it was baked blueberries with a scone on top and a scoop of ice cream Compared with the rest of the food we thought it was going to be much better it was very bland and boring for a dessert at this spot. Also the drink selection it's very small and I was disappointed , the only cocktails they have are made with wine bc of the few option I wanted the homemade Kefir and they told me they didn't have any at the moment I had to get a blue lemonade that had gas and unfortunately didn't like at all my bf drank it for me , it would be better if they have like natural lemonade or homemade iced tea's But the rest of the food and everything else was very very good ! Next time I go back to Red Lodge I will be looking forward to see what other items they have in the menu because they apparently change their menu from time to time. People in Red Lodge definitely have a big treat

Jonathan G.

Yelp
Having driven about two hours outside of Yellowstone's northeast entrance, and conquered the just opened Beartooth highway... I realized two things. 1. Holy s**t is that an amazing drive, and 2. Holy s**t I'm hungry. Feeling as if I was in the middle of nowhere, my GPS showed a little town called Red Lodge. It was only maybe 10 miles away, and I knew it was the closest chance to get gas and something to eat. Turns out Red Lodge is a full on town, and a pretty gnarly one at that. After hopping on the YelpMachine™, I landed on PREROGATIVE Kitchen. I slipped in around 2:30, a little worried because they closed at 3pm. They were as nice as could be, making us feel extremely welcome, even closing in 30 minutes. We were told they were doing brunch only currently, and turned us around to see a menu on the wall. It's an "upscale counter service" place, where you order and pay, and they bring out the goodies when ready. We got two dishes: The eggs Benedict with smoked trout, and the shrimp and grits with pork belly. Now I don't know if it's cause we had hiked all morning and we're just famished, or if the food was just that good. But it was a 9/10 across the board. One of the chefs was a nice Englishman from the midlands, who was making me delicious brunch in the middle of nowhere Montana. That actually made it all the more unique. Great food. Great people. Great experience. If you find yourself hungry in Red Lodge, don't hesitate even for a moment. It's your PREROGATIVE, you can do what you want to do. (Sorry, had to get a Dad joke in there. If you're over 40, you get it!)

Nika S.

Yelp
Loved this place after our hike! I'm from San Diego and I loved their Miso Cod, PK Salad and sliders! Pasta was to die for as well with those sweet beets! - FRESH ingredients - Perfect portions - Everything is À la cart! @neeks93 on insta!

Judith M.

Yelp
Always excellent, interesting food and comfy atmosphere. Love the a la carte menu so you can sample their very interesting offerings. watched these guys from Ox Pasture to their own place and boy did they blossom with excellent cuisine with their own stamp on it.

Holly B.

Yelp
Popped in on a Sunday afternoon after a lot of local places were closed. Walked right in, no wait. An hour after we arrived, there was a long wait. Unfortunately they don't take reservations. Cool place, old bakery and kept some demolition as part of their decor. No shortage on toilet paper as their bathroom has over a dozen rolls are part of the functional art work on the wall. Excellent food, fresh, while not cheap, well worth it!

Sherry D.

Yelp
Very unique place to enjoy unusual and delicious food. Hard to get a seat during high season, but worth the wait.

An Opinion Z.

Yelp
Great food, locally sourced, outstanding presentation and friendly staff. Back to back James Beard nominations. You can't go wrong!

Tomas A.

Yelp
This place is fantastic! Visiting from Texas and this restaurant could be in any trendy city like, New York, LA, Portland, Austin. The lamb sliders are incredible. Highly recommend for a fun, casual and a great place to eat.

Marcia Ann C.

Yelp
Oh my lord the food is good, very unique, excellent service and I love that they have wild game! This place is excellent!! I'd drive from Billings!

Jonathan L.

Yelp
Definitely the modern restaurant on the block! However, due to COVID, there was no indoor seating, with a couple of tables available outdoors to sit at. The temperature was a bit cold that day to be sitting outdoors, so the restaurant allowed us to move the tables onto the other side of the street, where the sun would be over us. We ordered the Steak Special along with the Curry Special and their infamous Brussels Sprouts: I would give the Brussel Sprouts a (5) star, the buffalo sauce along with the deep fried brussel sprouts was an amazing and tasty twist from what we expected! The steak was pretty good, I would rate it at (4) stars. We ordered medium rare and it came out medium-rare with some mushrooms on top as well. This dish was a bit more on the salty side for our liking however. The curry was all right, we would rate this at (3) stars. The curry was coconut based, and will satisfy your Thai cravings. However, we felt like we were eating some sort of curry onion salad because there was literally so much onion in there! There was chicken in the curry, but it felt like there were only a few pieces there. The rice was dry, and seemed a bit under cooked which is another reason we rated this curry a tad low in stars.

Margaret L.

Yelp
We were in red lodge spontaneously and looking for a place to grab dinner. The great reviews drew us to prerogative kitchen and it did not disappoint! My only complaint is the seating- there isn't much of it and you can place your order without realizing you may not have a great spot to sit. We ended up back in the lounge area at first but when a table cleared the people up front let us know so we could move. Otherwise I like the a la carte style and all of the food we got was very tasty. Plus the art and atmosphere were adorable. Everything from the menu to the wine display was set up beautifully. My table split burrata and cheese bread which were both good. I loved the refreshing grapefruit paired with the burrata. Then I got the risotto sliders for my dinner and i thought it was a unique spin on a veggie burger. Everyone else at the table liked their entrees as well (pappardelle and the burger). I would definitely comeback if I was ever in the area again.

Heather E.

Yelp
This is our second time here with NO regrets! When we came the first time it was COVID and we ordered food through the window- the lamb sliders and truffle fries sold these foodie suckers! ‍ of course we had to come back to chill while the kids hit the slopes. We ordered the same thing and added the PK burger. It was amazing and cooked to perfection, loved the aioli with the fries. Worthy of 5 stars by Montana standards. Had to add the dessert, one of the best I've ever had STICKY TOFFEE PUDDING, I should have ordered my own. It was hard sharing.

Ellie L.

Yelp
Expensive for a walk up and order place. Advertises that they have margaritas and cocktails but they are wine cocktails since they don't have a liquor license. Quite disappointing. I got the risotto sandwich was quite expensive and didn't have much taste. This place was super hyped up so I had high expectations.

Steve R.

Yelp
We loved the ambiance and enjoyed the vegan options on the menu. The food was delicious and the service was excellent! It was a highlight of our time in Red Lodge.
