Jason, the founder, has been curating the best, fresh ingredients for his products, always keeping his standards high and donating and participating in fundraising around the community. It is a very creative company that always have new products for us to try. Thank you Jason and team for doing amazing and I am looking forward for the future products that will be coming up.

Pickled smoked Brussel sprouts are out of this world. They’re addictive! Don’t just get one jar, trust me, they will not last and you’ll be kicking yourself for not ordering more

Google
My husband and I had a fantastic time tonight at Midtown Spirits. We just stumbled across it looking for a date night spot and it caught our eye with its cute street-front makeshift (read: COVID-compliant) patio with heaters and cafe lights. Very inviting. Chatted with co-owner Jason and really enjoyed sampling their broad selection of 20+ infused vodkas, and their gin straight up was really tasty too. How cool and novel that Midtown Spirits, so fresh and new, is the first Sacramento distillery since prohibition. This place opened up during COVID and didn't skimp on the digs and still. Great ambiance so far. I'm impressed with their gin so far, their vodka infusions, their cocktails, end even their cheesecake. Certainly impressed by Jason also--really great to talk to and an excellent host. If you like chai tea, definitely cannot miss their chai-infused vodka hot toddie. Holy WOW! Hits the spot on a cold night on the patio. Highly recommend!

Google
Midtown Spirits. The food is yummy and the drinks are great! Right across the street from the puppy park. Everyone is super friendly and welcoming. mask up to order inside and they'll bring it out to you

Did you ever buy something, and you thought to yourself, "Dang, that was really spendy for what it was...but that was worth every penny" ?? - That's these folks. Whatever you buy here (bloody mary mix, margarita mix, mayo, pickles...it's a random assortment they stock), it's guaranteed to be one of the best representations - of whatever that product is - that you've ever had. The bloody mary mix is a standout must-buy here.

The supply of special condiments was almost non-existent. Staff told us the store in mid-town is closing and being moved to 7th and J. And that the owner is putting more of an emphasis on his distribution business. The new store is maybe going to open around December.

Google
Nice place to pick up pickled things. But the guy I talked to acted like he didn't care one way or the other. I asked questions about how to pickle different things, and he had no Idea. Very rude. I asked him about pickled eggs. He said, we don't do that. Otherwise, Everything else is good.

Google
Absolutely love the Bloody Mary Mix. We add it to our beer and it is delicious. I have mixed it in recipes as well for a spicy twist. This mix is very versatile.

Richele B.

Yelp
Really good food and Bloody Mary mix, and they have the Bloody Mary mix to go and in gift sets. It's very dog friendly outside and there is a fantastic dog park across the street.

ellen m.

Yelp
Excellent bloody Mary's (we got Fresno chili and dill pickle versions). Love the outdoor parquet and watching the dog park at this dog friendly space. Disappointed by the breakfast masubi. It's 90% egg and has brown with tiny slice of spam and a whisp of nori which would be the main ingredients in masubi.

Yelp
This store front is unusual... it's the patio/garage of a building where they do their cooking and possibly their bottling of cocktail mixes, pickled products, sauces, and salts. The store front has a table, refrigerator, and three huge pantries filled with items - some theirs, some of products from other companies. I dropped by on a Saturday afternoon and was quickly greeted by Chef Matt Brown after I set off the motion-scensor at the front. I'm biased and absolutely love his cooking. Not only is he a talented chef, he's friendly and personable too! He let me try a few samples: their Spicy Habanero Pickle Chips have a good bite to them and Balsamic Beet Slices are unusually good! And he gave me tips about how to use their beets - which I tried the next day. The beets (diced) go great with goat cheese in a salad with a light vinaigrette. I also purchased a jar of their Hefeweizen Bread & Butter Pickles - which I just eat straight out of the bottle! They're crispy and great for snacking on as is.

Yelp
What's not to love about this local establishment that has been in business for 5 years! Many of us have enjoyed their great concoctions, but I've actually never been to the manufacturing plant which is off to Q St. I had the delight to actually go in there and talk to the production manager and look at all the great things that they produce locally in Sacramento. If you like the Bloody Mary look no further. If you like a margarita this is your place. These mixes are awesome sauce literally the sauce that makes your drink perfection.

Susie M.

Yelp
Food is excellent. The company preserves and mixes are absolutely delicious and a must try! The pickled brussel sprouts are amazing!!! Good service. Trendy. Busy for weekend brunch

Yelp
How many times have you read about businesses starting in a garage and then just started booming?? This is THAT place in many ways. The owners started their business, and moved into this uber cool renovated garage. its cool, hip, rustic, but most importantly, the vibe and people are all down to earth coolness. You might pass this place up, because its uber coolness and unpretentiousness extends to the exterior as well. Don't pass it up. You've never been in a place like this. The staff is warm and inviting. They all know the product line. Getting down to the good stuff.... Their products are all handcrafted- which means small batches. If you fall in love with something, grab several when you can. I was able to snag the last two jars of the horseradish dilly beans (green beans) they will make more, but don't expect them the next day. This is truly homemade goodness. Your grandma wasn't a short order cook, they arent either. Keep in mind that green beans and the brussel sprouts don't grow year 'round. stock up while you can. The bread & butter pickle chips are a taste sensation...dont toss these delectable chips on a sandwich, just eat them right out of the jar.. they're so good they wont make it to anywhere other than your mouth. Now, this is what locals all stop by for.. the bloody mary mix. yes, its THAT good. you may even pass on adding booze to it. This baby is made in three sizes. don't waste your time with the itty bitty jar, grab a medium size, or better yet, the gallon container. Plan a party, a brunch, or sunday football, the gallon size wont be enough, because everyone will want more, more, more. I stopped by to pick up some items for holidays gifts... i gifted myself as well. Sorry, not sorry. Cant wait to have friends over to share these treasures. If you ask, they will even sample some of their products! Their siracha salt is going to be killer on the rim of that bloody mary glass; toss in some of your own homemade bacon, and you'll be competing with the next Iron Chef. Parking isn't easy, but the better things in life arent. Best times to go, Friday after work. They are usually only open thursdays - sundays. Hey, they need time to preserve and create their magic. And if you're feeling inspired to have a party there, they will totally hook you up. THIS is what adulating is!

Chelsea H.

Yelp
I wish I could buy everything in the shop! They easily have the best sauces for any occasion. My go to choices are: Blackberry Fig BBQ sauce - a sweet but strong sauce great for chicken or even adding to burger. Apple Cranberry Chutney - not normally something I would try, but after I did I wanted to eat the entire jar. We put this on top of our pork chops and it is absolutely delicious. The Original and Spicy Bloody Mary Mix - you get a good quality Bloody Mary at home, no extra spices needed. Absolutely check out this place when you are in midtown!

Yelp
Went to the Grand Opening Party and I'm so glad that they finally have a store. Preservation pickled items and Bloody Mary Mix is wonderful! if you already have tasted it around the corner at Pourhouse you know what I'm talking about. They started a Kickstarter Campaign in 2013 and with success they are now over 100 locations in Northern California and expanding AWSOME JOB! Will return soon It's street parking , so if your in a rush to pick up some items make sure you have enough time to find a spot and I'm sure you will browse cause they also have great sauces too!

John H.

Yelp
You wouldn't expect this location to boom. But it does. Somewhat garage-ish converted into a warm and welcoming shop. All kinds of cool pickled stuff, bitters, sauces, jams, mixers, and spreads. Much of it is their own making and the rest is either local small batch product or something of a unique nature or special in some manner not otherwise locally available. The goods are sold in the front and their making and packaging lab is in the back. You can peek through the window and watch, if you like. On this day, the day of their holiday party, peeking through the window was primarily scamming on what fabulous nosh their plating for this 2nd annual shindig. I know I saw a couple of my peeps licking their lips, waiting, patiently (or not). Guests were treated to a number of platters of their pickled or otherwise jarred goods as well as some guest treators. I had been instructed to pick up at least one jar of the Hickory Brussels Sprouts and Roasted Beets. Stop in and treat yourself (and maybe even sample) some unique small batch hometown goods.

Yelp
I would highly recommend this place there Bloody Mary mix is great and you can even order everything online. My husband and I got our Bloody Mary mix today that we ordered a week ago the owner is very nice and apologized for our Order being messed and so he over nighted it to us and gave us our shipping cost back, we will be getting a lot more Bloody Mary mix and stuff from this place soon.

Denise J.

Yelp
Really cool spot and I highly recommend coming here to buy gifts! I picked up some sriracha salt, ghost pepper salt, and some midtown jerky. I've heard good things about their jar of bloody mary mix, but haven't had the chance to try it yet, next time! You'll find a nice assortment of seasonings, jelly, sauces, jerky, pickles, they even carry cute Ana Apple baby clothing! I think this place is a great addition to Sac and it's the type of place that I want to love. I can't give it 5 stars though because customer service isn't the best. To be honest the man working when we were there didn't seem like he wanted to be there. I'm not asking for super bubbly customer service, and maybe my mom was asking too many questions, but at least pretend to want to help customers.

Yelp
Came to Preservation and Company for a friends outdoor Birthday Party! The food was helped catered by one of Preservation and Companies affiliates. The staff was very personable and accommodating. The place itself reminded me of one of the beautiful lofts in New York. I love this style. I did not catch the name of this company that catered here but I can truly tell you that the small bites were delectable. There were many different varieties of small plates to choose from. The Chicken adobo and the street tacos were my favorite. Yum. Now if you put this together with the many pickled samples the companies has to offer, the great outdoor band that was fit into this small alley, this birthday party turned out to be a wonderful night of eating, drinking and celebrating life!

Yelp
Great products, but you won't get much more than basic customer service. It seemed as though the guy working didn't care much for making a sale, but rather just there to man the cash register. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate not being hounded by salespeople, but a little more friendly interaction would've been appreciated, especially since I was the only one in there at the time. Maybe I gave off a "don't bother me, I'm shopping" vibe? Still, it was a little awkward. Maybe if samples were offered, that would have broken the ice...not to mention I probably would have bought more. I'm just sayin'. Samples, please! I had checked their website ahead of time, so I had an idea of what I wanted. The shelves were empty of some products, and the popular dilly beans (pickled green beans) were still out of stock. Boo. Nonetheless, I came away with a jar of their award-winning bloody mary mix, 3 different Sriracha hot sauces, and Sriracha salt. Next time, I'd love to try the beef jerky and any of the pickled veggies. There's also a display of the cutest baby onesies, I believe handmade by a local artist. Seems like an odd pairing of baby clothes next to bloody mary mixes, but guess that just adds to the character of this garage boutique.

Yelp
I'm a big fan of Preservation & Co. It stems from that bloody mary mix.. It's my favorite and I couldn't go to Pour House without having one but they've expanded.. Other restaurants now use it and I'm gonna have it if they list Preservation & Co. Bloody Mary mix in their description. Now they have a little store on 19th and although you can find their products in some grocery stores.. This place is a surefire place that will have it 'cause, well, it's their stuff and they make it on premises. Jar it all themselves. Because I like the Bloody Mary mix so much, I've been trying everything else. They also showcase recipes that you can use their products in. It's local. It's great. I like it for myself. I like giving it as gifts. And! The store also has other California local goods like cute baby bibs. 5 stars

Yelp
Well. I was in Sacramento on a trip and was really looking forward to this place. On our last day I had planned to stop by and dragged my wife and kids so I can stop by on our way home. I was set to buy quite a bit of stuff I had browsed on their web page. After taking a detour through the city we pulled up and the business was temporarily closed. No mention of this on their website. Just a paper sign on the door. Bummed we went way out of our way for a closed store. Not a great way to do business as I planned on dropping a couple hundred bucks on a ton of their products. Seems like other reviewers had a similar experience also....Oh well !!

Rob R.

Yelp
There people are amazing! Super friendly and full of knowledge. It's definitely the best bloody mix that you will find! Be sure to try the mild and the extra spicy! Also bought the NorCal Chow Chow and definitely excited to give it a try!

Jacqueline W.

Yelp
This is a pickled & preserved products providence deserving of your patronage! This place rocks. While the bloody mary mix gets the well-deserved attention, this place also offers a variety of pickled and canned vegetables, jams, kim chee, and other products (like awesome California-focused baby gear). It's low-key, folks are friendly, and you can even bring your dog. Put this on your list of places to buy gifts -- there is definitely something awesome for everyone, and it won't break the bank -- and to take out-of-town friends.

Sal R.

Yelp
Literally the best, do not dismiss this place without trying it at least once it's so freaking amazing you will not be disappointed

Yelp
My friend bought a LivingSocial deal for (what she thought was) bloody mary and dry goods tasting for 2 at Preservation & Co, and invited me along since I'm the bloody mary lover of our social circle. But when we got there, it turns out they don't serve or do tastings for the bloody mary mix- which is confusing because my friend said that was supposed to be included in the deal she purchased. That disappointment aside, it's a nice place to check out. The shop is pretty small (they might be able to fit all their wares in a large mall kiosk) but the inventory is pretty interesting: dry goods, seasonings, jellies and jams, pickles, salsas, assorted condiments, jerky, kimchii, scone mix, and (thankfully) jars of their bloody mary mix. They also have a table of Preservation & Co branded swag and featured items from guest artists. The guy who did our tasting was friendly and knowledgeable, and some of the items we tasted surprised me. I do not like pickles, period, but their hefeweizen-soaked pickles were really delish. My friend walked out with a bag full of items and I bought myself some artisan jam. I wouldn't mind seeing more inventory for sale (it's a small space but there is room for more) but overall it was a good experience and I would come back again.

Yelp
Some of best hand crafted margarita mix and bloody mary mix to be found anywhere. If you fancy yourself a michelada connoisseur, try making it with their bloody mary mix and prepare to be impressed. I buy their stuff by the gallon. It's very unfortunate their retail location in midtown near Safeway recently closed. You can still purchase their products online. Highly recommended!

John T.

Yelp
Awesome Hellfire Siracha! Makes Huy Fong taste like tomato juice. Big John's Habanero Chips have a nice subtle kick, but it doesn't overwhelm the pickles. I haven't tried the Spicy Bloody Mary mix yet, but have no doubt it be just as good as everything else I've tried.

Cristin C.

Yelp
This is such a cute little shop you will want one of everything. Also its the perfect spot to swing by after the Saturday morning farmers market. You will want one of everything when you walk in. Plus midtown loves to support small business!

Jess B.

Yelp
I placed an online order today for Father's Day to be shipped and delivered out of town. I received my confirmation by email and responded with a quick question if they could possible add a note for me wishing my father a late Happy Father's day (since I hadn't requested any expedited shipping). The office manager responded to my email within minutes and was so accommodating and indicated they would do their best to ship in time to make it there by father's day. I call that great customer service! I will follow up on my Dad's review of the products, but they look pretty fantastic. We ordered a combo bloody mary mix box and a hot sauce mix box. I may order some for myself too :)

Crystal C.

Yelp
What a cool place! After stalking their instagram and hearing about them, I finally stopped by. The dude running the counter was nice, and let us sample a couple things before buying. The shop is attractive and has a great selection of treats and gifts. We got pickled carrots and asparagus. It's a little pricey, but pickled stuff usually is. On the bright side, it was delicious and lasts a while because it's hard to eat it very quickly. I look forward to coming back to try more of their pickled treats.

Tina R.

Yelp
Great little place to stop in and pick up some local stuff :) I like to come here for the cold brew coffee.

William D.

Yelp
Love their Bloody Mary mix, Margarita mix (jalepeño is wonderful), and pickled veggies. All really tasty. Love supporting a local business. Haven't yet tried sauces, but one day....

Diane G.

Yelp
Wow! Great local business. We came here after having the best Bloody Mary every at crawdads and saw the mix was local. Such a cool little shop. The owner was working and was very friendly, he even gave us a tour of the kitchen and showed us how to make some things. Very nice guy. 5 star product and 5 star customer service. Yay for this local gem

Tricia A.

Yelp
I agree with the other review regarding lack of customer service. But I will give 4 stars because I absolutely love their Bloody Mary mix. Best I have ever had! Loved the article in sn&r about this company and love to support a local business! But, if I had a chance to talk to the owner, I would explain that This place is lacking all customer service qualities. I visit this location often (as well as buy their products from Newcastle produce) and I have found that the man running the cash register at preservation does just that. On numerous occasions, I have asked about a product and he knows nothing about it nor has ever tasted it. How can you sell something that you haven't tried, don't have an opinion of, can't promote or educate people on the product? Here we have a young man, working hard, trying to get his great business off of the ground with poor representation. I would probably buy more products if they were recommended or if I could get an opinion when asked. For now though, I am going to continue enjoying my Sunday morning preservation Bloody Mary!

Jax S.

Yelp
Places like this are what makes Sacramento so special. I stopped in out of curiosity and was drawn in by the friendly staff who explained that everything in bottled and made in house. You can even peak into the factory! Very cool. We took home a jar of their bloody mary mix and popped it open right away. Delicious. Will be coming back to try their other goodies.

Dina F.

Yelp
Insisted on coming here from Ukiah! Didn't disappoint! Great Bloody Mary mixes and condiments! You've earned yourself a lifer customer!!

Audrey M.

Yelp
Wonderful place, amazing products! The Hefeweizen Bread & Butter pickles are so good! I love the atmosphere and the owner, Jason, is an absolute delight!

Chris F.

Yelp
Preservation's bloody Mary mix is phenomenal and all of their pickled products are amazing! Great products and great people who own Preservation.

Tammy W.

Yelp
This is exactly the type of place that I love to frequent! It's right there, where they produce their concoctions, so you know the inventory is fresh. And I love buying local and supporting local artisans... yes, entrepreneurs, but also artisans. If you have ever tried their Bloody Mary mix, you know that I'm right! The hours are not "typical" but I like that they are open a little later than expected and they even extended their hours to accommodate last-minute shoppers (like myself). All told, I bought: Sriracha Salt, Extra Spicy Bloody Mary Mix, Habanero Pickles, Cayenne Pickled Carrot Spears, a trio of their hot sauces, all boxed up and ready to bestow upon my lucky recipient. I was bummed that they were out of Dilly Beans, but I guess I just have to go back - bummer. I am so happy that I found this place and plan to come back often - both to replenish my own stock as well as for gifts!

shaynna W.

Yelp
I took their pickling 101 class and it was awesome! I came home with a ton of pickled items. It was really fun, the owner Jason was our instructor. My pickles are delicious! I highly recommend their classes.

Nat O.

Yelp
I took the cocktail and jam class and it was FANTASTIC!! Jason was an awesome teacher and laid back, but yet super knowledgeable. The drinks were great, the jams were fantastic and I learned a lot. Highly recommend the class!!

Nicole C.

Yelp
This is a review of customer service, the products have all been in my experience 3-4 stars (comparable to any high quality similar good stuffs you would find at Trader Joes or Whole Foods) When this place first opened I came here to pick up some Bloody Mary mix as a gift. I was so impressed by the service that I bought extra for myself, recommended them to friends and continued to give as gifts to folks. I take every opportunity to purchase from small local businesses and even though I could buy similar products at reduced prices at big box stores (BevMo, Total Wine, Cost Plus), I choose to pay more for craft products like this. Today I suggested my parents stop by to pick up a Christmas gift and told them how nice they were (actually I have only ever been served by one man in there and I think he is the owner and he offered excellent service in the past). My parents took the time to find the location, not easy for people unfamiliar with navigating midtown/downtown streets and were turned away after being told he "hadn't made up any of the gift Bloody Mary baskets yet". These baskets are being advertised online so I thought they would be available, however not so and then he told them they could buy the bloody mary mix somewhere else . . .so my parents were planning on spending about $100-150 today and he just told them to go somewhere else?? My folks, who taught me to shop local, were really put off and left. Seriously, what happened here? Are they just trading on their success now or did they over-promise with their Christmas promotions? Either way, they should still have provided better service to the customer standing directly in front of them . . .this is the kind of stuff that makes me think "why not save money and buy from a big impersonal chain store, at least I know what to expect."
