Love this Place, great vibe. One of the Best Old Fashions ive ever had. Bartenders where awesome. I would highly recommend this place for Specialty cocktail.

Google
Such a cool little bar. Always friendly, great service and the staff are super personable. It's that perfect mix of dive, great cocktails and speak easy. Top Boise bar and a must visit. The old fashioned is stellar if you're a bourbon drinker. Also appreciate that they don't pack it in, must be seating to be served. It makes for a much better experience.

Google
One of my favorite spots we went to in Boise. Loved my cocktail, the service was so great. Our bartender was friendly and knowledgeable about the area and mixology. Definitely stop here

Google
There are 3 bartenders and they are all fabulous SUCH a good espresso martini ask for it on the sweeter side and it’s fabulous. Also had a Ameretto sour, sooo yummy. If u are vegan ask for it with no egg and a splash of pineapple juice it’s so good !! Christmas lights are so sweet and cozy, great place for date night or chill chats with friends

Press and Pony is a relaxing, intimate bar. It is located in a shy location to the right of a sports bar. Enter through the doors, go through heavy curtains, and you are immediately transported to a bar that seems caught out of time. Time almost seems to stand-still in the dark and mysterious interior, with cool vintage photos and decor. The drinks were solidly good and might lean a bit more heavily towards things that might appeal to a more traditional palate. (It would be nice to see a few creative non-alcoholic drinks added to the menu.) I had a Ginger Drop which was a fun, tasty little cocktail. This would be a lovely spot to unwind and relax with friends or a romantic evening out for a date.

Google
Had dinner with coworkers prior to going to Press and Pony so no food to review but cocktails were had and were tasty and delicious! In particular was this Old Fashioned. A great way to end the evening!

Google
Nice little place. Love the atmosphere. At the entrance is a curtain you have to walk through. Bar on the left, couple small tables on the right. And a few more small tables in the back. To get to the bathroom you have to walk through a curtain in back which leads directly into the Boise Fry company for their bathrooms. Love the original drinks. Some were very involved to make so it was fun watching them being made. I got the Blood and Sand which was one of the sweeter drinks.

Google
Great speak easy in down town Boise. Don’t be afraid to go through the curtains. What’s on the other side is a bar that feels like cheers, everyone knows your name m, unless it’s your first time. If it’s around Christmas make sure you get the Hot Buttered Rum. It will make you get in the spirit and feel like home.

Yelp
So glad we found this bar during our first visit to Boise. Excellent service and atmosphere. I asked the bartender for the smokiest old fashion and he delivered

Yelp
My wife and I found this place on a whim when we were waiting for the bar next-door to open for one of their events. The bartender was super friendly and understood our situation. I saw they had wild abandon by Merriweather cider so I had myself a can. My wife and I both really enjoyed getting to chat with the bartender. I can tell he likes his job and is treated really well. I could see myself coming back here in the future!

Yelp
Great old fashioned worth the stop if your in town has great top shelf bourbon! Great ambiance and service bartenders are very sociable

Yelp
Fun little "Speakeasy" in the heart of Boise. The staff is fun and knowledgeable. They offer many drinks on the menu and are happy to make something special if you request. The decorations are fun and plentiful. Lots to see and they play great music. My only drawback that takes away a star is that they do not serve any wine. They have one Prosecco. Personally I don't understand that decision. Example is that my wife only drinks wine and has no interest to go hangout there now when all of the others bars in walking distance have it. Not hard (or expensive) to have a Cab and Sav Blanc or whatever in house for those customers that don't drink hard liquor. If you like good drinks and a cool vibe this is the place for you. I will definitely be back when out with my buddies, but unfortunately not with my wife and it couples.

Yelp
What a great little apot this is! when you arrive , do not go to the stairs! Instead go through the curtains and immediately get overwhelmed with a nostalgic sort if ambiance as if you are somewhere back in time of bustlin' and busy speak easy! Our Bartender immediately welcomed us in and gave us all the run down of the special cocktails. We went here looking for a goood Old Fashioned and he did not disappoint! The Patrons are nice and easy going and We loved it so much we went back there the next night! there was no reason to go searching for anything else ! the next night i was feeling alittle more on the bubbly side and asked if he could make me my favorite Lemon drop with A splash of Champagne ... too my amazement he did so in a heart beat! it was delicious !

Yelp
If you love cocktails, good whiskey, and talking good whiskey.... find yourself a seat and let these bartenders dazzle you and pour you something nice! Tried their old fashioned and a whiskey sample of their hand selected single barrel. Recommend this place as its not stuffy and they'll talk cocktails with you til they find soemthing you'll really enjoy. If you're in the mood for a high-end whiskey/bourbon, ask for their locker list!

Anthony S.

Yelp
We had several really good cocktails and our bartender was super knowledgeable. She knew how to make a paper plane properly and had the ingredients to do so.

Yelp
5 stars for drinks, 3 stars for prices. But really- the drinks are artfully created & spot on. Tucked behind a dramatic velvet curtain, P&P catapults you back a hundred years to a prohibition era of speakeasies.

Yelp
This bar is connected to a couple other bars like Devil's Den and Spacebar Arcade. It is recommended to make a reservation online (and almost required based on what time you're looking to come here). They allow a max of 6 people in a party because it's a small place and there's are no tables big enough for that many people. It has the vibe of a speakeasy which is super cool and just my type of place. They specialize in classic cocktails but also have a couple drinks that they're experimenting with. They'll make anything that you like or want or are feeling. The bartender Erik was hyping up the old fashioned ($11) saying that theirs was the best so that's what I ordered. Ultimately it was a damn good drink and very balanced. For my second drink he asked for one spirit to make a drink off of and I threw him a curveball with green chartreuse. He came up with the drink and, as he said it, "got weird" and made a unique drink that really highlighted the green chartreuse well but was still balanced. I left after that but had to come back because it was just an awesome place. The atmosphere is so lively and fun and the bar is very forward-thinking in the craft cocktail space. Erik is the bar manager and was just an amazing bartender and guy. We got to chatting about cocktails and started geeking out about them. It was so so fun to hang out with him and the other bartenders even after they closed and they were so welcoming to an out-of-towner like me. It was a wonderful experience and I recommend you come here because you will have an amazing experience as well.

Yelp
I came in on a Wednesday evening around 8:00. It wasn't crowded but this bar is very small. I can imagine on the weekends it gets a bit crazy and tight. My husband and I snagged a high table and ordered the garden gimlet made with cucumber gin and a bell pepper syrup. It was so fresh tasting and delicious! The candied bell pepper garnish was the perfect sweetness. My husband really enjoyed his old fashioned. We also ordered a spicy peach margarita that was very different and complex. Our server was super friendly. The bathroom is connected to Boise fry co and it's totally okay to bring food back into the bar. Huge win! We both agreed between the awesome cocktails, friendly bartender and great atmosphere we would come back and recommend Press & Pony to friends.

Yelp
How have I not been here before??!! The place is amazing!! The mixologists were awesome and they know how to make unique and delicious drinks. The atmosphere was so cool like a speakeasy and relaxed. I cannot wait to come back here again!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Awesome place! Loved the speakeasy vibe and the drinks are so good! We ordered the garden Gin one and the Lord of the Skies- both tasted great!! Can't wait to go back and try more of their craft cocktails!

Yelp
Always good service, it's crowded but I've never had a problem getting a table/seat. Yummy cocktails.

Yelp
Love this bar! Press & Pony is consistently providing great customer service and amazing drinks. A definite must visit for a fun night out.

Yelp
Word of mouth kind of place. Long and narrow and speak/easy venue for nice cocktails and friendly bartenders. Cool vibe!

Yelp
Fun Speakeasy in Boise, cool drinks and great ambience. Good service but will only serve you if you're seated

Yelp
Loved the vibe in this place! Drinks were wonderfully crafted. I honestly can't remember the names of all our drinks but one of them was the "pick your poison". Highly recommend checking this spot out for a lovely cocktail!

Yelp
Oh, you haven't made reservations here yet for a Saturday night? Checking Yelp to see if you should. Dude. Go. Now. Find their reservation link thru their IG & go spend a few hours with Erik behind the bar. This place is such a vibe. The bartender knows what's up and he will tell you straight. He will make drinks based off of what you tell him you like or dislike and WOW they come out amazing. He really gets to know you. We stayed for three drinks because the fire was toasty, the vibe was unmatched and the conversation with Erik was the best experience I've ever had at a bar. They are doing reservations only right now and there are only about 5 tables - so if you want to experience the best of Downtown Boise DO IT NOW! I can't wait to go back! Thank you for one of the most memorable evenings.

Yelp
One of the best bars in Boise. Definitely worth checking out. Make sure you get there early so you can get a spot to sit is a shotgun, a small little speakeasy feel. The best old fashion in town hands-down great bartenders. I cannot say enough about this place.

Yelp
Best place for in town for a Spirt forward cocktail! We have been coming for years and never disappointed. No food, but you can grab Boise Fry Co. Which is on the same building, and bring it in. Seriously amazing classic cocktails!

Yelp
Very cool bar. I went on a Friday night with 6 friends and we arrived around 10:00 pm. It was quite crowded and we stood around awkwardly for a minute trying to decide if we should go somewhere else (because who wants to sip pretty cocktails while standing in heels? Yuck). Luckily a group vacated their seats and we pounced. We ordered a mixture of cocktails and beers. The beer drinkers were happy. Uncharacteristically for me, I ordered a cocktail. I just had to try one of their unique creations. I got an Amaretto Sour and it was just darling. It came in a small old-fashioned cocktail glass and had little hearts drawn into the foam. It was delicious. Not too sweet or sour and you couldn't taste anything bitter. My buddy ordered a hot toddy and it came in a copper mug with delicious whipped cream. She said it was great. Our bartender was charming and they did the coolest fire spitting before we left. The only bad thing was that he forgot my drink and I sat there for about 10 minutes before realizing that everyone else had been served. But no harm!

Yelp
Nice, chill lounge vibes and great cocktails! Service was on point but we came around 7pm on a Thursday and only had a few people here with us.
google avatar

Yelp
Floor to ceiling heavy curtains part to reveal a dimly lit room with gleaming copper bar tops, walls packed with black and white and sepia-tones photos, and glints of gold and votif candles. A garrulous bartender with handlebar mustache and heavy work apron concocts cocktails in this western speak-easy
google avatar

Sara T.

Yelp
One our favorite places to grab a cocktail in Boise. Bartenders are fun and fast, drinks are strong and tasty. Keep it up

Yelp
Maiden visit to opens at 4pm, speakeasy-style, 24"ish" seat, craft cocktail bar Press & Pony makes me think I'll rescind the bad things I've said about burger joint Boise Fry Company right next door. How is that connected? Because I learned the BFC owner is the financial investor for Press & Pony. Good on him for that. We likely will be one and done as Press & Pony customers but it was a fun visit, great service from the bar tender, top notch preparation of Pisco Sour (for me) and a Bloody Mary (for my hubby) that included a molasses and chili salt crusted rim, all enjoyed in a well designed nod to the past space. A hour well spent even if I did have to hoist myself up on to high seating to do it. (And there's the rub for less than 5 stars.) SERVICE & VIBE: The drinks were not only delicious to taste but also beautiful to see. Sipping them in the romantically dimly lit 1920's interior designed space while enjoying the classic music tunes of years past (think Louis Armstrong's rendition of "You can't take that away from me" or a chanteuse singing "Someone to watch over me") made me need to bite my tongue not to sing along as I sipped. And given we were older by at least double the average age of the people who filtered in while we were there (only about seven folks at 4:30 but by our 5:30 departure on a weeknight, the place was over half full and counting) I'll betcha I'm the only person in there who would know the lyrics. Applause to the bar tender because as much as we may have seemed to him "escapees from the home" given how much senior we were to any other of his guests, he treated us with the same good welcome and care. HAPPY HOUR: Specials (4p - 6p on some nights) are in the Boise mode I do not like of buy-one-get-one but that means the same person needs to order two cocktails. My ability to drink two cocktails without it 'hurting' the next day is in my rear view mirror and my husband never does as he's the designated driver. So for people like us a discount on a single drink would make us much more happy. Regardless, the space was so pleasant and we had come from a real estate and building developer meeting that had left me feeling the worse about things and that pretty first Pisco sour tasted so good going I did have another. (The coupe glass in which it was served is small after all.) Two expertly prepared cocktails for me for only $10 was a true bargain. PARKING: On street. A lot adjacent was largely empty but couldn't tell if it was open to public or reserved by monthly pay. ACCESSIBILITY: Wheelchair access symbol in the window and it is level in and throughout the small space. So it was surprising to find only high seating available at bar and banguette as that is not wheelchair accessible. I have had MS for 4 decades, am ambulatory with great difficulty and hoisting myself up into high seating - as I did this visit - is nearly impossible so I asked about standard height seating one might assume available (and required by Civil Rights law ADA so that people of my minority might be able to equally participate with all others) given the logo and given on my next visit a "hoist" might not be at all doable. The nice bartender told us he had a 'flip down' top at the bar that he could flip down to seat two people if standard seating was needed. BE NOT AFRAID BEER DRINKERS!: They had about five on tap including Crux Pilsner and Anderson Valley Bourbon Barrel Stout. WINE DRINKERS: I am. But here I wouldn't. The list is not much. But with such great cocktails, no worries!

Yelp
This is perhaps the closest thing Boise will have to a speakeasy. Love the lowkey fancy vibe I get when I come inside, peak behind the big curtain and I'm welcomed by a dim dark welcoming ambience. This place is perfect for groups or just to hang on your own. Most of the time, when I hang out downtown, I like to end my night at this spot with a refreshing old fashioned, sit at the bar as the bartenders attempt some crazy pyro tricks with the drinks. Not only entertaining but fantastic drinks! Highly recommend, ten out of ten!

Yelp
I recently went to the Adelmann Building for a night out. First, to The Spacebar, second to Dharma Sushi & Thai, and I thought well I'll just make it a trifecta then. Press & Pony is only about 5 feet away from where I am. 5 feet later, I did what the chalkboard said (very Alice in Wonderland) and stepped through the Baroque velvet curtains into a dimly lit room. The lighting is excruciatingly frustrating if you want to take decent pictures but really excellent for looking sultry without trying. #Effortless I sat at the bar where there were two dapper bartenders wearing mustaches, suspenders, and overall looking very 1920s. This matched the music which I recognized as Parov Stelar (remixed swing music from the 20's) that was being played at a reasonable volume. Service was fabulous and I was never forgotten about. I had a ginger beer which was great, not sweet enough to kill a unicorn, but just right. Light from the chandelier overhead, along with the candlelight flickering off of my drink, made for nice ambiance. This is a fantastic place for kicking off or ending a night out. In my case, it ended a night out and I walked about 3 yards to my car. Convenience at its finest. Pro tip: Read all the reviews, especially if you fancy an Old Fashioned. Another tip: Acoustics are great here so please, say nice things. Last tip: There is a slight feeling of uneasiness (it's an old building) but it disappears after awhile and ordering alcohol would probably help with that.

Yelp
I had to try this place as soon as I saw the word "speakeasy" written in other reviews. I've managed to find them in various places across the US with my husband and wanted to give this place a go....becauae a bar of this kind in Boise just seemed to good to be true. A speakeasy it is not, other than walking through a curtain to get into the bar, and another curtain to get to the bathroom, but a good bar none the less. An excellent cocktail menu, mostly charming bartender (also promised in previous reviews) and easy to find. I didn't venture too far in to the menu, but I bet this place can really swing on the right Friday or Saturday night. Add a password at the door and dim the lights a bit, and who knows, more people could be whispering about this place.
google avatar

Misty R.

Yelp
This little place has such a cool speak easy vibe with attentive and creative bartenders. Kacie made me a mezcal old fashioned that absolutely rocked my pallet! Highly recommend this place for drinks before or after dinner. Or, just stay and let the bartender pick your poison and feel the night out from there!

Yelp
Superlative cocktails are one of life's pleasures. Press and Pony makes crafting their offerings look easy. But with house-made Cola-yes, free of corn syrup and coloring-along with other tinctures and flavorings, it's clear this is a labor of love. A small group of friends tried out predominately classic cocktails: Moscow Mule served without the copper cup, a Margarita and a Mint Julep. Also tried a cocktail crafted in house. My Margarita was a bit underwhelming. Wasn't quite zippy enough for my taste. But the alcohol used was quality. We all preferred the house concoction but the name of it eludes me; it's something along the lines of O.D. OPC. It made good use of cream and pepper. Yum. Bar itself is super small. Not for large groups. Would have liked a bit more light. Was intimate but a little dreary. The solitary bartender got slammed before closing so service wasn't especially attentive, but he had the joint to run all by himself. I'll go back for more in house creations. The classics were adequate but I've had better in Boise at lower prices.

Yelp
We loved this place! It's one of those rare instances where you get awesome service and even better craft cocktails. Aside from that it has a super cool speakeasy feel to it, and connects to Boise Fry Co for an easy snack. We enjoyed a few drinks on our anniversary date night and would definitely go back.
google avatar

Yelp
Randomly stumbled upon this place while we were next door at the Boise Fry Company. So glad we did. Happy hour is 2 for 1 classic cocktails. 2 for 1 old fashioned.... Yes Please! The bartender was very nice. My friend didn't like her drink so he made her something off the happy hour menu and gave her happy hour price. It's a small space but very nicely decorated and had a very good vibe. Great for a date or a group. Music was good too!
google avatar

Lindsay J.

Yelp
We were doing our own little bar crawl and stumbled upon this awesome little joint! The cocktail menu was simple and the drinks were incredible. I am not much of a gin gal (I prefer vodka for liquor) but I ordered the "French 75" and it was incredible. The flavors were fresh and very refreshing. This was a champagne cocktail and it is perfect for any hot summer evening. The rest of the group ordered a mint julep (I didn't get to try it, but also heard it was incredible) as well as a gin Collins. Again, very fresh flavors and you can tell this establishment takes pride in their cocktails. I

Yelp
Press & Pony is awesome! I love the old timey decor and atmosphere. The bartenders even do fire tricks if you're lucky. Plus, I just found out the happy hour goes till 7 with 2 for 1 Classic drinks! We enjoyed delicious hot toddies and a bonus shot from a patron who rang the bell. So don't ring the bell hanging above the bar unless you want to buy the house a round of shots!

Yelp
I have been here a few times and I enjoy the dark, hidden atmosphere. This time around I got to the joint about 4:45 and plopped right down at the bar. My bar genius was a joy to mingle with. He had such a wonderful personality, easy to chat with, and of course he made great drinks. I am always a little overwhelmed with all the fancy shmancy drink choices so I left my drink preferences on the table. Not too sweet, fresh tasting and no whiskey. My bar genius mixed me up a gin, lime and another refreshing addition to make up my first drink of choice. The second round of drinks I told him I wanted something just as delicious as the first drink. My genius mixed up what he called a "Symphony #1." This is a drink that is not on the menu so you have to ask for it special. It tasted like a sparkly fruity unicorn on a cloud. Really, I can't explain the yumminess, you just have to go try it. Oh ya, grab some free happy hour fries next door during happy hour.

Yelp
Press & Pony is the tavern equivalent to that British synth pop sensation "Just Can't Get Enough" by 80's alt-band extraordinaire Depeche Mode. Which, is to say--they're my jam. Not that the atmosphere is remotely 80's vintage. No...it's far more vintage than that. In fact, it borders on the antique--with its low lit copper topped bar haloed by old fashioned lanterns. Even the bartenders with their suspendered, mustachioed charm harken to a simpler time. Which, let's face it, is just plain cool. But, hey--atmosphere and bartender style aside--how are the drinks? My people. Masterfully crafted--inventive with classic underpinning--tongue tingling ambrosia Which, is to say--exceptional. I have had occasion to try a few of their cocktails. Their Old Fashioned is an ample, distinctive, luxurious delight. The Denim Blazer is the pumpkin twist to that audacious flaming phantasmagorical wonder--the Blue Blazer. Their classic Manhattan is spot on perfect. But, where they really rocked my liquid loving socks--was with their La Manzana. Here's the thing--I dig tequila. But, what I've found, is that many of the upscale lounges that specialize in inventive mixology--do very little with the spirit. Vodka? Check. Gin? Check. Whiskey, Bourbon, Scotch, Rye? Check, check, check, CHECK! The best you can hope for with tequila is some obligatory, salt-rimmed, variation of a margarita. Hey...I'm not knockin' it. Who doesn't love a good margarita? But, I'm always left longing for a bit more. A cocktail that will take tequila's pithy, pronounced pungency and weave it into an alchemists dream. La Manzana does just that. Light, lovely, and lemony, with the lush elegance of elderflowers and autumnal apples--La Manzana is silky sublime indulgence It's just. that. good. Beyond the atmosphere and drinks--their bartenders are incredibly knowledgable about the spirits they mix, certainly, but also about the history and evolution of alcohol. Not often do I walk away from a repartee with a bartender with recommendations to add to my "to read" list. In short? Press and Pony is the total package. Get to it!

Kari L.

Yelp
This place was great, excellent mixologist and cool atmosphere...plus excellent cover mix playing!

Yelp
What a great bar. Small, intimate and delicious drinks. Jeffery is an awesome mixologist. Forget ordering a drink you know. Just ask Jeffery to make something that has x and be amazed.

Yelp
This is one of those places where you can trust the bartender to set you up with an incredible cocktail. But, if you want my recommendation, I say ask for an Old Fashioned ... these fine folks make an excellent one.

Yelp
My friends and I stopped in at this cocktail bar during our trip to Boise. Press & Pony is clearly going for a Prohibition Era Speakeasy theme. The decor was a little bit strange as the bar was brightly lit but also had candles on each table. Maybe they should try dimming the lights a bit or scrapping the candles. It just gave the room a weird feel. Additionally, the bathrooms for the bar are located inside of the Boise Fry Company next door, and the path to reach the bathrooms is a bit convoluted. Late at night after BFC, it seems strange to navigate through an empty restaurant. The bartender was wearing an interesting get-up that I would describe as Indiana Jones chic. He clearly took his bartending skills very seriously and prepared cocktails with a confidence and verve the was very performative. Whether it was stirring two drinks with one hand while gyrating a shaker with his other hand or browning some wood chips to create smoke for a drink, he definitely captured the attention of many of the patrons in the bar. I wasn't sure what to order so I just chose to get the sangria which was the drink featured on their chalkboard behind the bar. I was a bit surprised when I received my drink as they used white wine instead of red. Maybe they should have called it sangria blanca. At any rate, the drink was very refreshing and not overly sweet. I really enjoyed this drink. My friends liked their cocktails as well. One of my friends is a bartender and had fun chatting with the P&P bartender for a while. Overall, this is an interesting place and the drinks are solid. We would definitely recommend it.

Yelp
Best cocktails in Boise, hands down. This is the place to be if you're looking for low key and quiet. Weekends get a little bit hectic after 9 or 10 o'clock but are managed well. Cocktails are all handcrafted so yes, they may take a minute or two but why not sit back and enjoy the show? The "Beet the Devil Out of It" and "Pimm's Pony Express" are delicious and great for a hot summer day. Check out their happy hour. Free delicious fries from next door at Boise Fry Company from 4-6.

Yelp
Intimate cocktail bar in the heart of downtown Boise that was a pleasant surprise. It was not crowded on a Monday night when our group of 12 arrived, but we pretty much took over the entire first floor since seating was limited. Classic cocktails (Margs, sours, old fashioneds, etc.) were buy one get one free all day on Monday. Our bartender was very friendly and engaging and served as part bartender extraordinaire, part entertainer. The drinks were all well-made with custom ice and artistic finishes (like egg white foam art!) It was a great choice for our group, but I could also see it being a nice neighborhood joint to sit, relax and lament your sorrows on weekdays after work. I will visit again next time I'm on travel in boise!
google avatar

Shane R.

Yelp
Came in for a drink, and the bartender Eric said he makes the best Old Fashioned in town. Leaving underwhelmed, we headed to The Mode. We were served up an Old Fashioned that completely blew us out of the water! Cheers to the bartender at The Mode for the best Old Fashioned in Boise!

Joe P.

Yelp
One of my favorite cocktail destinations in Boise. Located downtown next to Boise Fry Company this place is a nice retreat from a busy day. It has a cool 1920s vibe that is perfect for unwinding after a long week or day. The bartenders are professional mixologists and take drink making to an art form. Best day to be there is on a Monday because they have happy hour BOGO on classic cocktails all day long. Two negatives: 1. It's tiny and seating is intimately close. 2. The restroom is shared with BFC. If you can look beyond that, you will love this place.

Yelp
You can almost hear the cry of the newsboy "Xtra! Xtra! Read all about it!" as he peddles his freshly minted papers exclaiming in bold type "Time Travel Now Possible in Boise Bar". That's right folks, somewhere between the folds of the heavy Victorian style curtain lining the entrance lies a secret passage that allows anyone an opportunity to step back in time. Upon entrance into Press & Pony, you are transported back in time to a century ago. You'll immediately notice the beautiful copper-topped bar, the low glow of lighting coming from antique style lanterns, the beautiful tin ceiling, and the classically dressed (and mustached) bartenders. Listen closely, and you'll probably hear the sounds of a brass horn belting out rich, raspy notes meant seemingly just for your heart. And, depending on what you order, you might also hear interesting factoids about the history of the spirits in your drink or about the history of alcohol in general... the bartenders are a wealth of knowledge and love to educate and share that knowledge with patrons. And once you get that drink, you'll immediately understand the 5 star rating (that is, if you weren't already there)... these drinks are crafted, not made. Perfection!

Yelp
Kaci, the bartender, was amazing. Super friendly and made us excellent cocktails based on our pretty vague preferences.

Yelp
Never, ever disappointed in this place. I came in wanting an old-fashioned because I know they know how to make them here. The bartender talked me into Sazarac. Oh my! The best cocktail I've ever had. This place never ceases to amaze me.

Yelp
I went in by myself for a cocktail after work one evening and won't be back. My bartender, Eric, was snide and quite unpleasant. In addition to being exceptionally impressed with himself, he made my atmosphere uncomfortable. He is an expert at bartending. I'm not. That's why I'm in. He paid as little attention to me as possible. I ordered a Blanton's Old Fashioned to which he immediately retorted that it would be $22 and wanted to make sure I still wanted it. I didn't because a Blanton's OF anywhere else is $8-12 and I didn't feel like putting on lipstick (if you catch my drift). He made me a different old fashioned which was acceptable but nothing special. A bottle of Blanton's is $63. One drink should NOT be $22. That's just bad mathyness. Lol. Either that or Eric just wasn't into making me what I wanted. Go see the other Eric at Owyhee for the best old fashioned in town and better service. Eric stayed over on the other side of the bar with his friends or whomever garnered more attention than myself and made no attempt to make me feel welcome or even comfortable. Although I'm not a bartender, I appreciate when they're personable and attentive or at a bare minimum pleasant. I would've ordered another drink had he checked back with me, but he didn't so instead I walked over to his crew and politely asked him to close out. He printed my check, slapped it in front of me and walked back to his friends. This was my first and last experience with Press & Pony. I hope the other bartenders provide better service, because I'd rather just go somewhere like The Mode or Fork or Juniper for a craft cocktail and a pleasant bartender. If you want to see a bartender be exceptionally impressed with himself and holier than thou, Press is your place! Atmosphere: 6/10 Cleanliness: 10/10 Food: N/A Beverage: 6/10 Service: 1/10 Concept: I don't know. If the concept is to only make people you know feel comfortable, it's a 10/10. If it's to operate a bar where everyone feels welcome and taken care of, it's 1/10. Go somewhere they're nice. The drinks at Press aren't THAT special.
