I live in the area and was excited when I saw Press was opening. Unfortunately this location just hasn't lived up to what I've come to expect from Press.
1- They are slow. Good coffee takes time, fair. BUT if I order a cold brew and a latte and I'm the only one in line- why did it take 10 minutes on multiple visits?
2 - I've been several times in the last couple months since it opened and it just doesn't seem totally clean. Visible bus tubs full of dishes. Cups half full of watered down cold brew on the back wall? Why? This is nit picky I know, but spots and dust on countertops, unbussed and unwiped tables when there are multiple staff members working. Floors look dirty. I feel like the vibe Press goes for is very clean, simple lines, etc. Just doesn't match their brand.
3 - I have waited in the lobby alone twice for 5-7 minutes before a staff member noticed or greeted me to take my order. They were in the back and hadn't noticed me come in.
4 - I actually witnessed a staff member take a milk frothing pitcher out of a bus tub full of dirty dishes and use it without rinsing it.
5 - witnessed same staff member adjusting her shorts multiple times under her shirt without washing hands
6 - I started ordering my cold brew with no ice because half the time I order light ice, I still end up with a cup full of ice and watered down coffee. Today was the first time I received a cold brew in a 20 oz cup that was only 2/3 full. I go to Press a lot. Multiple times a week- sometimes at the Quarter, sometimes Fashion Square or go work from 32nd street, this has never happened before. I do get it, had I ordered it with ice it would have been the same amount. But with tip, I just paid like $7 for this coffee - come on, are you that cheap? This just rubbed me the wrong way.
7 - the staff just doesn't ever seem that friendly.
I'm bummed to write this because I had high hopes for our neighborhood location. All these things are small, I know. It's not THAT bad, but it's just not that good either. I'll take the extra 5-10 minutes out of my day to drive to Maverick or Cartel if I need my midday cold brew. I'll still visit the other locations though if I'm in the area.
