Checked out Pretty Decent cocktail bar with a friend and had a great time! The atmosphere is stylish and laid-back—perfect for a chill night out. Cocktails were absolutely deliciousssss and crafted with care. Definitely a spot worth visiting if you’re into good vibes and even better drinks!

Easily the most interesting bar in Louisville. The agave-centric spirits focus is a refreshing change from the corn-based spirit industry here. I've always liked tequila (a type of mezcal) but am moving in the direction of small-batch-produced mezcal varieties, of which Pretty Decent has tons. Go, enjoy, and learn something about small family businesses in Mexico producing artisanal mezcal.

My bf & I stopped by for a casual night out since we had heard some fairly good things about the place and omg did it exceed expectations. As soon as you walk in you're met with a gorgeous display of plants--most of which you can buy. The bar itself was very clean & the menu was incredibly elaborate. It had a few items I wasn't really familiar with, I tend to go the basic route when it comes to my drinks, but when I saw a coconut matcha drink (non-alcoholic) I knew I needed to give it a shot. As someone who's taking a bit of a break from drinking I don't feel like I missed out in the slightest, it was super light, delicious, and incredibly cute. The bartender was very personable, immediately asked if we had any dietary restrictions/preferences, & could tell us the ingredients in each drink. He literally told us how one drink was brewed in a way that included shrimp in their process (bf is vegan, couldn't have that one) & it was a canned item--I cannot stress enough how knowledgeable/selective this man was about his menu. He was very easy to talk to (and bless his heart we did talk his ear off for a bit lol), but you can tell how much he cares about his job. We will absolutely be back to try more drinks and maybe buy a plant or two

Spirits' bar that happens to have plants (or, if you're into plants, consider it from that view). Run, don't walk to this gem in the Clifton neighborhood. In a world of crass, industrialized production of just about everything, the mezcal and pisco offerings here reflect authentic, "home made" artisanal, small-batch spirits. Suggest not starting w/ a cocktail-get a flight of at least four of the mezcals. The menu is overwhelming so, for each agave plant type, read the taste/characteristics of each and sample a couple of the offerings in each plant subspecies. It is such a fun experience. Ethan is an insightful bartender & John, the owner, has deep knowledge of the culture and "spirit" of 100% agave-based spirits. Don't have time to go into the piscos (Peruvian brandies) but that's for another trip and review. I know I won't be disappointed.

By far, the best Mezcal selection in the area. Never had Mezcal before? Don't worry, the bartender will offer you the best selection for your palette. You might run into John, the gracious and knowledgeable owner, and dive deeper into the world of agave spirits and appreciate the Mexican traditions. Or, maybe you're a plant guy or gal that must add to your already overflowing home. Jeanne, the kind horticultural enthusiast other half of Pretty Decent, will guide you to further grow your space. A must stop for any local or visitor.

This place is amazing. Cocktails were some of the best we've had in Louisville. Great service. Bartenders are super cool!!! Piscp sour and Paloma are incredible. Will definitely return!!!

Pretty Decent has become one of our favorite bars in town since it opened earlier this year. We love a bar with a unique identity and PD fits the bill. There is nothing else like it in town - a focus on ethically sourced agave and other botanical spirits, specifically from Central and South America. John (co-owner/bar director) has traveled extensively and has a deep knowledge of the products he offers and the processes by which they’re made. I usually order from the current menu (changes every few months), but John maintains an extensive spirits list for those who prefer a simple pour, and he’ll also do a dealer’s choice or a classic like a daiquiri or margarita. The space is light, with several two-tops and plenty of seats at the bar. John’s wife and co-owner Jeanne runs the plant shop at the front of Pretty Decent. She’s a master gardener and is happy to discuss plants and what might be best for your home or to give as a gift. There are also beautiful pots and other plant care item in the shop, and Jeanne offers plant care classes as well as DIY botanical art classes (check the website!). PD is a great place for a drink or to buy a plant or other gift for yourself or a friend (they have a selection of tequila/mezcal bottles for carryout too), all while experiencing some of the best hospitality in Louisville. Just don’t ask for a lemon!

It's a plant store with a bar. Great cocktails specializing in Mescal. I had a escalation margarita that was delicious. Delicious finger foods. We had peanuts in a light oil and roasted garlic and a pickled cucumber. Music was. Coming from a turntable on the bar. Great vibe.

Hidden gem alert! If you're strolling in Frankfort Avenue and happen to pass what looks like a cute little plant shop... STOP. GO IN. TRUST ME. Behind the lush greenery and unassuming storefront is Pretty Decent, a mezcal bar that's anything but "pretty decent"--it's ridiculously cool. My only regret is that I didn't get more pictures to share because this place is very cool. But I was enjoying myself too much to be bothered with my phone. The vibe? Immaculately chill. Moody lighting, thoughtful design, and a playlist that makes you want to stay all night. It's the kind of place that feels like a secret you're lucky to be in on. We started with a Paloma recommended by Ethan (bartender and apparently low-key rockstar). It was refreshing, perfectly balanced, and an excellent recommendation.. We chatted mezcal, music, and more--Ethan's the kind of bartender who makes you feel like a regular on your first visit. Got to talk mezcal with the owner, John, who's clearly passionate and seriously knowledgeable. He shared stories about sourcing, traveling, and working directly with producers. Learned more in 10 minutes from him than I have from any spirit tasting I've done. Super generous with his time and samples, which led to me walking out with a bottle of Espadín, an agave spirit, I'm now obsessed with. You don't find places like this often. It's got soul, character, and people who actually care about what they're doing. Come for the plants, stay for the mezcal. Pretty Decent? Nah--Pretty Damn Exceptional.

Some of the best craft cocktails I've had in the city. A great menu of creative spins on classic cocktails with a tequila and mezcal dominate menu. Also, I had best darn gimlet I've had in a long, long time. My fave! Thank you. The vibes were stellar. Bartender was spinning East Coast hip hop records like De La Soul, the exact chill vibes I love to have as I relax after work at a bar. He was super polite and friendly. The front of the store is lush with plants and beautifully curated specialty gifts. Have a drink in hand when shopping? For sure, I will always be down. I bought a patch and a super cute hat. Talked to the owner for a minute and mentioned some beautiful tile I was obsessed with above one of the sinks and he shared that it's hand-painted Spanish tile. I feel like this spoke to all the attention to detail in every inch of the space and the cocktail menu! Everything felt intentional. Will definitely be back. Especially considering their calendar is stacked with plant / art workshops like 'create your own terrarium.'

Super cool concept and great execution. My drink was delicious and the storefront had so many cute items to buy! Their music selection via vinyl was awesome. Will definitely be returning

This is a quaint, odd little plant shop with a bar in the back. The service was fast and friendly and the drinks were seriously AMAZING! 10/10 in quality and taste. Gotta admit: when we saw this on line we thought it was a "Speakeasy" kinda place. Our fault. We had the Carajillo (pictured) then the Chirulin and Tuna Verde Margarita (forgot pics)

This place was interesting, I have never seen a place that is a botany store and a cocktail bar! We are in Louisville with friends this weekend and our friends went to a pop-up event that this store did in Detroit, where we are from, so they wanted to check it out. The cocktail bar has a heavy focus on mezcal but you can get other cocktails as well. I had the gimlet, which was good but very lime-y, and the tuna verde margarita, which wasn't entirely to my taste but my husband and friends liked it. My husband got the negroni, which he enjoyed, and one of the 1 oz pours of mezcal. Our friends also got some of the mezcal pours, it's interesting because they bring the bottle to the table so you can look at it. Our server was John, I believe, and he made sure we never ran out of water refills, as well. This was a fun time and we may be back before we leave Louisville.

Sweet fancy Moses! If you have any curiosity whatsoever about Mezcal, go see these folks. I walked in expecting to get a nice cocktail (and did) and walked out with a good education about the entire Mezcal production process. The staff is very knowledgeable and Ethan was especially helpful. If you're lucky, the owner John will be there as well. He's an absolute delight to talk to. I highly recommend Pretty Decent.

We went on a Friday around 7:00pm. Parking was atrocious. Luckily we were able to find a parking spot a few blocks away. We didn't mind to walk because it was such a lovely day. We walked in & were instantly greeted. We decided to get a drink before looking around. As we looked over the menu the bartender came over & helped us narrow down our decisions. Our drinks were delicious. My Villa Alta drink was layered with tropical notes. I absolutely loved it. The bar has a record player & a large selection of records. While we were there the two albums that were played: the GoGos and Purple Rain. A whole vibe. After we finished our drinks we closed out & went to look at the plants. Lots of cute options ranging in sizes & prices. They even have a dried flower bar. This place is super cute & I will definitely be back!

What a cool bar! Pretty Decent is a plant-shop bar with a ton of cool events, craft cocktails and a clean, spa-like vibe. Perfect for date night! The cocktails were incredible (if maybe a little pricey - $13-16) and the staff was friendly and helpful! Would love to go back for an event. GREAT date night spot!

Do you like cocktails and/or wine? Do you like indoor plants? Then you'll like Pretty Decent, which is in the middle of the Venn diagram of both of those. This bar and plant shop opened on Frankfort Avenue not too long ago. When I visited I found a spot that has a well curated selection of flora and other home goodies. The plants are a bit on the expensive side, but they seem well taken care of. A #plantmom or #plantdad could have a field day here. My friend and I arrived around 3 because we saw they opened at noon. Well, we soon found out that while the shop opens at noon, you can't get a drink until 4. The nice clerk served us wine, though, while we waited for the bartender to start work. And once I received my drink, I really liked it. Their menu is creative, leaning heavily into mezcal and Oaxacan inspiration. Not sure if that's a forever thing or just for the season, but it was interesting nonetheless. Pretty Decent has an inviting seating area in front of the shop next to the side walk that is especially fun for people watching. I love that this is in my neighborhood. What a unique Frankfort Avenue offering!

Let's just start by saying, this is a beautiful space. A nice, clean aesthetic made all the more welcoming with the abundance of plants. Welcome to Pretty Decent, a plant store in addition to a bar with light refreshments! The main focus here, are the plants and they have a wide variety to choose from. Everything from pathos to moss wall art. There's a selection of wines, plant related Jewerly, soil and plant care accessories. My friend and I were greeted and we decided to catch up over a drink at the bar. There's a small selection of beer to choose from but its focus is mixed drinks. The bartender was very knowledgeable and made my friends drink off of what she told him she liked. If you want something to nosh on, there's a small snack menu. The only complaints that I personally had were the stools had no backs and I had to be mindful not to lean back, or I'd make a spectacle of myself. There are a limited amount of tables that can easily fit groups of four. Remember, the focus is the plants. I couldn't leave without picking out a new plant that will hopefully survive my propensity of killing plants. It was replotted at a separate counter and I was given a care card. If you wanted to purchase your plant first, you could have this done while you had a drink. Pretty Decent also offers both plant and bar workshops but hurry because they fill up fast. I had such a lovely time at the shop and I will definitely go back.

What a cute and unique place! As soon as you walk in you are surrounded by plants that you can buy. The bar is in the back and there are also some tables for 2 if your prefer that seating. Our bartender was awesome and had great recommendations! I tried the Pisco Punch and it was so good! They also have beer, wine, non-alcoholic drinks and a couple of bar snacks like chips and salsa. I highly recommend checking this place out because there is no other like it!

Beyond decent. I love the humbled mindset that Jeanne and John have created here. Be welcomed by beautiful plants and pops of contrasting color brightened by the large window storefront. Browse, chat with Jeanne, and be amazed that after shopping for your new Silver Satin Exotica you can refresh with some curated spirits. The back portion of the shop acts as their bar. Stocked with Mezcal and Rums from many regions of Mexico. John knows and LOVES this stuff. Gavin, he's nice as hell to be tending bar as well. Every few months the flagship cocktails change for a new seasonal lineup, so be sure to pop in often.

Pre date night drinks started here. What a cool shop. Parked on the street and walked up to see a storefront full of plants! Lots of small pots with various plants- some of which I have at home and others I do not (yet!). We went to the far back where the bar is and had a seat. There are some cute tables but we opted for the bar to be in the action. The bartender who is probably the owner, was quick to serve us menus. I was surprised to see so many Spanish names but then again they did have a ton of mezcal on the bar. I went with the pajaro, Spanish for bird I believe. It was great. My date had the big tuna, which sounds like fish but Tuna is also the word for the fruit of the prickly pear cactus. He enjoyed his drink. We talked about all things that next hour as we enjoyed our drinks in so much that I forgot to check out the plants! I had only few min to run through the aisles as we were leaving. Hence, no pics of plants. I'd say they were a bit pricey, but that's standard for these curated plants. They have "pretty decent" merchandise for sale as well. Cute bar. Would def come back again might leave with a plant next time.

Stopped in Pretty Decent on a Saturday afternoon! We walked from a nearby brunch stop which was super convenient. The store and bar is ADORABLE and has the cutest aesthetic. The drink menu is inspired by the plant vibe and provides lots of great options. I settled on the Paloma and it was definitely one of the best I've had! My friends got the Carajillo and the Chilcano and loved both! The bar tender was also super friendly and knowledgeable. Overall would highly recommend stopping in for a drink (or plant or candle)!!

Lovely and unique - an absolute must-visit. If you have a green thumb, you'll love the plant shop at the front of the store. If you're not a plant lover, never fear - keep moving straight to the bar and get comfy, because you are going to want to try EVERYTHING on this menu. I love a place with a small menu that's done exquisitely well. The owner (John) has put so much love into this cocktail menu and you'll likely find him right behind the bar making sure every drink is flawless. Staff are welcoming, friendly, and knowledgeable about the plants and the drinks. As a cocktail fanatic, I love everything weird and wonderful, and the Islay Daiquiri was a MUST for me - scotch in a daiquiri? Absolutely. It exceeded expectations - it's smoky, powerful but not overwhelming, layered, and so sippable I couldn't believe it. Can I get a gallon to take home? By contrast, the Oaxaca daiquiri was fresh and flavorful, with funky banana notes an uplifting limey kick. It's astonishing that there is a portion of the menu JUST for daiquiris and they all bring something unexpected to the table. There are some small bites on the menu if you're feeling peckish, and I overheard several folks express that they loved the chips & salsa in particular. Next time I will definitely be saving some room for snacks, because I could settle in here and enjoy a full afternoon of libations and conversation. Overall this is a gorgeous space with a wonderful, unique menu that you don't see a lot of in bourbon country. They offer classes as well if you're a burgeoning plant parent who wants to learn some new skills - this place brings a lot to the community and I am SO excited to go back. Don't miss the early bird experience - once it takes off it is going to be booked to the gills, I guarantee it!

This place y'all! I came in around 7:30 on Friday. Such a light and airy atmosphere. They have the cutest bar area as well as table seating. Space is limited so I suggest getting there around 7:30 - if we had come any later, we would have had to wait for awhile. We ordered two drinks each, and we were impressed with how refreshing the ingredients were. Additionally, they provide a booklet that describes the types of liquor they use. Their drinks are unlike anything I have had before! The service was also lovely. After our drinks, we headed to the plant section - they had such a beautiful selection. It was reasonably priced! They also have candles, plant misters, and plant food. I will most certainly be returning for all my cocktail and plant needs! They also offer tequila classes and plant classes!

All the other reviews were spot on but I wanted to add the fact that in a town chock full of bourbon bars this place oddly has the widest selection of mezcals available by far. Ask for the separate leather bound list. It also includes some excellent topols and piscos. Amazing!

Can't get better than a bar/plant shop pairing. I definitely should have taken some photos but we were just having too much fun. Very interesting cocktails and cute plants. I also learned they have earned to pins from the Pinnacle guide. Very impressive for a Pretty Decent bar!!

From the outside and when you first walk in you think it's just a plant shop, So many nice plants then you walk in a little further and you see the bar and seating. Everyone is very friendly and know their cocktails. Fun names and cool twists on the originals but very good. They also have a few snacks as well to munch on. Cute place. Cool vibes. Good drinks. What more could you ask for?

If you are a lover of spirits, particularly Central and South American, or plants, you must check this place out. The owners have created a one of a kind place with exceptional cocktails, light bites, and indoor plants for retail. There is nothing like this in the area and it is a truly unique gem.

The best kept secret for a delightful drink or two or three in Louisville. This Mezcal/Tequila Bar rivals those of big cities like Chicago and New York but is just minutes away from home on hopping Frankfort Ave. Don't like mezcal? Don't worry, this place will change your mind. Super niche, and quaint but not pretentious, everyone here is so welcoming and friendly. Don't stress if you aren't sure what to order, the bartenders can help you figure that out and 9/10 they are spot on. And if they aren't, they will happily remake it for you and make it right. Oh also the front of the bar is a well curated plant shop complete with classes and workshops to help cultivate your green thumb as well as a plethora of plant varieties to peruse and purchase on the spot! All in all just a delightful experience. Their drinks are so good but I highly recommend the Carajillo. Smooth happiness and pure serenity in a glass. Pretty Decent is just all around epic. Trust me. Come visit. You won't be disappointed.

I love this place from the plant store, to the bar, to the wonderful people who work here and their careful cultivation of products produced by people who are treated well. The owners and staff are helpful and knowledgeable. The drinks are great and love the specials they have for food and plant workshops. I wish more cities had shops like this!

Such a fun place! My girlfriends and I ordered like 3 carajillos each. One of the best cocktails in Louisville that I've found! Our bartender was super friendly and the other drinks were made with such care!

The ambiance was great. Loved shopping the plants and being surrounded by them felt amazing. The staff was not very friendly.

The service was excellent and especially the bartender Chelsie. This is just a place you go for unique South American drinks as well as several traditional drinks. It a place to begin your evening in a peaceful place with a great drink.

Stopped in a few weeks ago to catch up with an old friend and we had SUCH a great experience. This place had a great atmosphere and my espresso martini was delicious! The staff is very friendly, especially their barback. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a fun and unique experience!

I'm not usually a yelper, but I had to for this place! Pretty Decent is such a rare gem in this neighborhood! Expertly designed cocktails; beautiful, bright ambiance; and exceptional service -- I can't express how thrilled I am that this place has opened up in my neighborhood. I hope it's around for a long time and brings more people to a truly underrated part of Louisville.

Service is great. Lights are a bit too bright for the ambiance. The snacks for food are good. Otherwise, in my opinion they should introduce spicy bitters to the mix
