The Best Shrimp and Grits in Philly | Eater Philly

"At this black woman owned business soul food classics take on decadent interpretations that will warm your heart and fill your belly. Deviating from the more traditional takes, they offer fried fish and cheesy grits where grilled shrimp can be added for a little extra razzle-dazzle." - George Banks-Weston

Google
First timer and it was an excellent experience as there were only a few people so it was the perfect time to get take out. The service and food was absolutely superb and the ambience was great. Can't wait to visit again.

I went for brunch. We were seated quickly, the waiter was nice. The food came quickly. It was delicious. I don’t even like French toast I got the turkey wake and bake it was so well seasoned and everything on the sandwich went perfect together. The strawberry lemon was good and they put it in a container so we could take it to go. The decor inside is cute and they played r&b classics which I enjoyed.

Google
I had the waffle and fried chicken. The waffle alone was amazingly delicious 😋 and the chicken was juicy was great too. The Brussels was different but extremely good. The goat's cheese made it super nice. I had it without bacon. The place is so cute Love the decoration and all. I love the open kitchen where you can see everything and it's nice a clean. Why not 5 stars, The bar chairs were super comfortable. I guess if you are a big girl then it's not good to sit.

Google
If you like homestyle/southern food, you’ll love Pretty Girls. There are no reservations needed but with little room for a waiting area, parties are seated when everyone in your party has arrived. I had the salmon which was a little salty and overly seasoned but not horrible. The sweet and spicy worked but I just wish it was less salty. Last, be prepared for uncomfortable seating. They are aware of it from other customer comments. Prices are reasonable for the items on menu.

Google
I have been a few times and the food is always great. I now suffer from sodium issues and I ask if they had low sodium options and they made Accommodations for me. It was my daughter’s graduation and I wanted to eat with my family and they made it possible. The chef and staff were great and I appreciate them for that.

I arrived for brunch on Sunday. Party of 3. There are only high, bar stool style chairs. I would not bring children here. The atmosphere was nice (R&B music playing). The staff was great, very friendly. I ordered the classic jawn (fish and grits). It was heavy on the salt, but the portion was good. It was only a brunch menu (pancakes, waffles, etc). I'd definitely come back again.

Google
The food was very good. I had the shrimp and cheese and my wife had the salmon sandwich, no complaints there. My only issue is that the server brought my dish out way ahead of my wife, therefore I was almost finish before she got hers. Also I guess I miss somewhere that you could BYOB. I would be remiss if I didn't mention that our appetizer the crab cakes were tasty and the R and B music was deightful. We were told that the oysters were unvailable due to the Staff preparing for the Roots picnic the next day. Overall, it was a pleasant experience.

Google
The food was freshly prepared, hot and absolutely delicious! We were greeted immediately and serviced attentively. What a surprising jewel to find right after Sunday church service!

Yelp
I was thoroughly happy with my experience here and supporting this local business. I've been meaning to try this place out for some time and finally got the chance to last spring. The restaurant is a BYOB with a decent sized seating area, kitchen in view from most seats, and cutely decorated. The server was an awesome college student with an infectious positive energy. The food options were good and the taste was delicious as well. I had the salmon sandwich and was satisfied. The tip was included in the bill for our meal but well worth it! Looking forward to trying them again.

Yelp
Visited this place twice within the last two months--First time was for lunch which I really enjoyed I had the sinful salmon grilled cheese and crab fries. My boyfriend had the burger, wings and fries which he enjoyed. Service was prompt, food came out quickly and was HOT! Just a beautiful afternoon out to celebrate my honeys birthday. My second time visiting was this past Sunday and I still have the same great things to say about the food. My girls and I like to eat family style so we ordered a bunch of brunch dishes to share--The monkey business French French toast, shrimp and grits with a side of fried fish, home fries, and scrambled eggs with cheese. We took advantage of the BYOB option and was provided with orange juice for our mimosas and an ice bucket. I will say I was a bit disappointed about the service on this day. The location is small inside so upon arrival we were asked to wait outside in the sun with no seating while we waited on one guest which wasn't a huge problem but I would suggest getting at least a bench outside for your guest to wait, y'all know the brunch girlies come out in heels. Moreover, once we were seated we waited at least 30 minutes for something to drink, our server didn't do table maintenance and had a bad memory--Kept forgetting stuff we'd ordered and like I said it's small in here so they weren't that busy... it sucked because we were there celebrating our friend who just achieved her Doctorate degree so my expectations were a little higher because I was spoiled the first time. Hopefully better luck the next time! Just a sidebar note--Parking is the best around here so I do suggest Ubering or catching a Lyft.

Yelp
Pretty Girls Cook has been on my list of places to try out, and finally made it during the weekday on my birthday in May! We walked in and were immediately seated. Our server was nice and attentive. I love the feminine decor of the restaurant! Pretty Girls Cook is BYOB, and thankfully we remembered to bring a bottle (yay)! For my meal, I had their crab fries and asked to add shrimp. So yummy! I still think about it! This is such a cute place (the chairs might be a little uncomfortable for some). I also want to try some other options they have on their menu in the near future!

Yelp
This is a MUST TRY SPOT! Me and my beau were greeted by the owner herself & she was pleasant and very attentive while making sure the establishment was running up to speed. Food: 5/5 I ordered the turkey burger I forgot the name it's called on the menu but it was delicious! From beginning to end and I also got a chance to try my beau's order which was the salmon burger. The sauces and protein were cooked to perfection. I did not try any drinks but I just believe they would be good. Service: 5/5 Owner Dominique was kind, welcoming and very down to earth. Ambiance: The decor ( art work showcased women of all races and black women to be exact which I loved) it's cozy and warm inside it can fit a good amount of people with walking space and has a nice bar area.

Yelp
Just when I thought my experience with PGC couldn't get any better, I found myself even more in love with this place and the owner, Dominique. My husband and I were looking for a caterer bc we were planning a Juneteenth BBQ. Dominique and I discussed my plans and what was needed. She was warm, personable and professional. Upon reviewing her menu options, we made the decision to move forward with the plan. My husband arrived at the establishment for pick-up and said he was greeted and treated nicely by her and her staff. He arrived back at our home with the food and our guests were so ready to dive in. When I say EVERYTHING we ordered was OUTSTANDING, I mean every single item was absolutely delicious. Our guests raved about the mac n cheese, string beans, potato salad, short ribs, bbq & thai wings, etc. We are so happy to have worked with PGC and Dominque and would highly recommend anyone considering her for your next event. We can't wait to host something else, just so we can work with her again.

Yelp
This is a black owned restaurant I was finally able to try out. I went for brunch and brought a bottle of champagne since it is BYOB. For food I got like a blackened salmon with grits that was very good and it was a good portion size. The staff was very friendly and welcoming a

Yelp
The place has hard, uncomfortable chairs. The food is fine but overpriced. The pancakes tasted like boxed mix. For 4 dollars I would expect the strawberry lemonade to be made in house and not served in a plastic bottle with a plastic cup of ice. I came in a party of five and all of our meals were brought out at different times. I was halfway done with my meal by the time everyone was served. A 20% tip is automatically added to all bills which tells me they dont pay their staff enough. Good service equals a good tip. Definitely wont be coming back unless they make some changes.

Yelp
Went to PGC after following PGC on insta for a few months. Let me tell you... they are worth the hype! The decor was so cute, the staff was attentive, the music was bumpin. The food was AMAZING. I got the Fancier Fowl and it was perfection on a plate. My partner loved the sweet potatoes and our friends could not get enough of the Island Gal burger and mac and cheese. The servings were generous (everyone brought a plate home and the food reheats amazingly). I cannot wait to come back and try more of the menu!!

Yelp
My friend and I disagree on this place. My friend said his food was amazing for the second time and gave the restaurant 5/5. He got crab cakes the first time and enjoyed that too. This time and the first time we've went I've hated the food. My waffle was bad and cold when it came out. The chicken was good... but look at that lil baby chicken finger, lol. They saw it was small and brought me a second piece but for how much it costs still really not worth it. The space is cool.

Yelp
Added this place to my list right before my last trip to Philly and it ended up being the first place we stopped. It's on a mixed commercial but mostly residential block but since it was early in the day, parking was easy. It also wasn't crowded so ordering was easy and customer service was just fine. The decor was an added bonus showcasing some inspiring ladies. I had the Ladies Love Salmon which looked exactly how it was described. Tasted good but a bit too much balsamic for me. My friend had the Saucy Shrimp Scampi which definitely came in handy later that night after hanging out. She also got some homemade juice that she really enjoyed. I see why it's popular and probably even more so for brunch. I'd be willing to give it another visit when I'm in town again.

Yelp
It's a cute little spot : set up was nice . The chairs are a tad bit uncomfortable for thicker woman. The lobster fries were excellent the Brussels sprouts were a 7/10 the Mac and cheese was ok the yams were good . My salmon was too dry for my liking. I just don't like the fact I wasn't informed that your charged for substitution but it is what it is .. overall I give them a 6.2 out of 10.

Yelp
It was early and I was the only person in there so far. Great playlists playing, friendly staff cleaning establishment, and the food was really good. My server Kevin was really good and cool, super helpful.. My food was cooked to order, I order the Island gul sandwich and it came with fries.. Large portions, fresh and hot.. I really enjoyed it. Next time I'm in Philly I will make sure I come back by here again. The playlist really set the vibes/ ambiance, ain't nothing like old school

Yelp
All I can say is WOW! Our meals had so much flavor, we wanted to order everything off the menu!! And don't get me started on the sweet potato purée...heaven in a bowl. I will say that the seating area was uncomfortable and the service was a little slow, however, the delicious food made up for it!
google avatar

Yelp
Beautiful space. Great energy when walked in the door. Amira (who has my beautiful nieces name too) was attentive and helpful. Our food was perfectly seasoned and creative. I will return. I only dont like when gratuity is included but not advertised. You are now receiving less than I would have gave you but thats your fault.

Yelp
I don't see how this place doesn't have 6 stars. The decor, music, and overall vibe create a sense of belonging and celebration of Black excellence. It's a place where every detail tells a story, and every corner resonates with a sense of community and heritage. This restaurant is a true reflection of Black culture and creativity. We had the pleasure of being served by Dominique. An incredibly welcoming and attentive server during our time here. I must say hands down, it was an exceptional experience. From the moment we sat down, they made me feel right at home with their warm smile and genuine hospitality. Their attentive service throughout the meal truly enhanced my dining experience. It's rare to encounter such a dedicated and friendly server who goes above and beyond to ensure your satisfaction. Their passion for their work and genuine care for the guests are truly commendable. I left the restaurant feeling grateful for the wonderful service. Not to mention, I had the Maine jawn, Sweet Stuffed French Toast, and the crazy crab omelette. Boiiiiii!! Had me in a food coma for DAYSSSS. The culinary trifecta will leave you speechless. Each dish is a testament to the chef's skill and creativity, and a testament to the restaurant's commitment to serving top-notch, mouthwatering cuisine. If you're looking for a dining experience that will delight your senses and leave you craving more, look no further than to come to Pretty Girls Cook!

Yelp
Today was my first time at Pretty Girls Cook in Philly. I looked at the menu before arriving. I was looking forward to tasting the Crabby Patties, but they were out of stock. I decided on the Drunken Mussels for an appetizer and I chose Ladies Love Salmon and the Turkey Island Gal Burger w/ grilled shrimp and lump crab meat. Let me just say this, it was ALL very delicious and fresh! Everything was very tasty, and I cleaned my plates. The homemade ice tea and lemonade were very good as well The decor was nice, and the music was on point My server Chloe was the BOMB and cute. I decided to order the Make 'Em Shout Brussel Sprouts to go. I ate those when I got home. The seasoning was perfect. I am not a fan of goat cheese, but with this dish, it blended well with the other spices. I would definitely recommend this place. Parking was a bit difficult although I arrived 1/2 hour after they opened.

Lorraine S.

Yelp
I ordered take out with 2 others and we all hated our food. Salmon, shrimp, grilled chicken and fried chicken were all over cooked and dry. Mac n cheese was greasy and the taste was underwhelming. The crab dip was stuck together so it wasn't even 'dippable' . Worst experience. Greatly disappointed. I only gave 1 star because I couldn't post without rating...

Yelp
My sister and I took a road trip for a Sister Date. I chose Pretty Girls Cook for brunch. The food was very delicious I had Fish & Grits, added shrimp, and had a side of scrambled eggs. It was delicious and very filling. They give a very large serving. They didn't have alcohol but allowed you to bring your own alcohol for a $5 charge. We brought our bottle and used it as decor. Since we didn't open it we didn't have to pay the $5. The decor was beautiful. I absolutely loved the table setting. It was very feminine and floral. I love that the restaurant was filled with pictures of famous black Women. The restaurant is really nice but the space is limited. They seem to get good service so hopefully they would expand in the future. I would definitely return. As far as service, they were good. The waitress MiMi seemed a little shy. But she was ok. There was a light skinned lady that checked on us frequently, I don't remember her name, but I assumed she was either the manager, or in charge, she seemed so. She was very pleasant.

Yelp
I ordered a fall salad. It comes with spring mix, blue cheese crumbles but I am missing the pears and pecans that comes with it. It also comes with a champagne vinaigrette dressing but he asked what dressing I would like and I said the raspberry vinaigrette. I had to wait an additional 8 mins for salad dressing.... My nephew ordered some sinful salmon sandwich with fries and 2 strawberry lemonade's. It was clean and spacious and the people were nice but I just waited way too long for the whole meal, didn't think the money was worth it and I did not enjoy my skimpy salad that was missing items

Yelp
This was my first time trying this restaurant and first time in the Philly area. I want to start by saying the seating was so uncomfortable, however, they did play good music. The food was ok. Nothing special tbh. The turkey gal burger had no flavor and it was so nasty I didn't even finish it. The fries taste like tv dinner fries. Definitely not hand cut or fresh potatoes. The service was ok, she could have checked in more. She only came by our tables to grab orders and than we had to flag her down for the check and some boxes. I probably won't go back here.
google avatar

Yelp
Service was bad. The waitress had an attitude for no reason. The food was mediocre at best. Everything was bathed in oil. Felt my stomach turning after trying the food.
google avatar

Yelp
I'm a regular here and how dare I not leave a review! I love the vibe at PGC! They always have a great playlist along with fresh cooked to order food. My recommendations are the Crab omelet and the pancakes! Staff is always nice and accommodating.

Nick H.

Yelp
Came here for a quick lunch date. Ambiance is great. The have music playing at a reasonable level, and the food was served fast, and hot. Would recommend if you are in the area. Customer Service was pretty good in my experience.

Yelp
Love this place. Came from Vegas and ate here and the service was awesome food was Phenomenal!!

Yelp
This place was absolutely amazing! The decor is so cute and the restaurant had a great playlist of R&b songs playing, which truly set the mood! Our server was so friendly and was able to give a great suggestion when asked which she preferred between the Salmon Island Gal and the Summer Jawn. She suggested the Salmon Island Gal and it was absolutely the best! The salmon was flavorful as well as the crab, and shrimp! It was a great combination sandwich! The sandwich also came with a side of French fries that were a great size and were cooked and seasoned just right! Then to top it off they had delicious drinks! I had the lemon drop and my husband the peach margarita (which I also tasted lol). The drinks were a great size plus they gave you the left over in a a little jug! The drink was strong yet tasty! The meal, drinks and atmosphere were awesome! 10/10 highly would recommend this place to any and everyone coming to visit Philly!!!
google avatar

Robert B.

Yelp
If you are looking for a good meal, good price and good portions, then this is the place for you. I gave only 3 stars because the music is way to loud, customers are not advised that there are others waiting to be seated, (we were told it would be a 20 minute wait time that became an hour and forty minutes, as those seated just sat and conversed and consumed their BYOB) and the space was limited. Otherwise, its a very nice place. If they fix those issues, they have a customer for life.
google avatar

Mardella C.

Yelp
This place is amazing! The food was amazing. The service was great! Do yourself a favor and go here! Small notes: they don't have high chairs. I bought my sons booster seat and it was an east fix. The majority of the tables are high tops.
google avatar

Caitlin G.

Yelp
WOWWW this place is insanely good. music great, decor great, half and half teas delish, i got the turkey wake and bake and i couldnt stop eating and every bite was omg omg omg, my partner got the beef better breakfast and that was so flavorful too-- you just have to see the pictures to believe the LAYERS of goodness-- cheesy eggs, crispy hashbrowns, salty sausage and perfectly cooked blackened turkey bacon, and topped w the most insane french toast squares making it a mile high. I cant say enough about how good this food was
google avatar

Crystal S.

Yelp
Major foodie, the place is small seating is very uncomfortable and to be honest the music was to much for brunch not a fan of rap music while I' am eating. jazz or smooth r and b should be played with food to regulate the crowd and make it calm atmosphere .. But the island burger was very good. would i come here again probably but Philly is so big on restaurants that I will keep this one at the bottom of the list because of seating and atmosphere although the food is very good I would rather order to go from here.
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing Food! Hands down one of Philly's best kept secrets for visitors but a staple for locals. Amazing customer service. Good portion sizes. And did I mention GREAT FOOD. My friends and I went for Sunday brunch and had a delightful experience. Dominque is an amazing spirit and wishing her and her staff continued success :-)
google avatar

Yelp
have only ordered take out-but restaurant has a good vibe when you enter to pick up food- staff is friendly- food is amazing every time

Yelp
I was so excited to try a good brunch place while visiting Philly. It is a small restaurant so come early but don't be upset if there is a wait. It is an open kitchen concept and byob BUT you have to pay for the juices which were about $5 a piece. The service was amazing and the shrimp scampi was delish! Overall I enjoyed myself and recommend this restaurant!
google avatar

Aniya H.

Yelp
I'll start by saying the food was good when I first got it. The Brussel sprouts were my favorite and I wish that was all I ordered. I went to warm up the leftovers later and it was really oily/greasy. The service wasn't that great. Hostess didn't have the best attitude. Called on the phone prior to coming to see if they had dine in option and was told they did but she told me I needed my vaccination card and ID. I'm not from Philly so I didn't think to carry my card with me. I agreed to do take out instead. But while picking up my order a girl came in and told the hostess that she forgot her vaccination card in the hotel and they still seated her. Which really pissed me off because she told me that there was no way I could be seated without it. Had I not already ordered I would've left and spent my money else where.

Yelp
2nd time when we come to Philadelphia it's a must. Food is always so good. I enjoyed everything. The appetizers was a little different. We got the Brussels sprouts & Philadelphia dip was okay not all that. I wouldn't order again maybe try something else. It was extremely hot we had to pay for water on top of the heat.

K B.

Yelp
there was only one waiter so we had to wait for him to go from table to table. he was nice but at the end when we tipped he was yelling trying to embarrass me and my friend because maybe he thought he should've gotten more. the food was a 7/10. strawberry lemonade was 10/10. the ambience was ok. I'll stick to 5 star restaurants.
google avatar

Princess W.

Yelp
A local of the city and also, good friend, brought me in to try out this place while visiting Philly. The brunch menu had some good items, but I had had a big dinner and needed something not too heavy. I tried the salmon hash and it was so yummy that I can still taste it. The hash has sweet potatoes in it, I didn't realize or I would have not went overboard with the hash brown casserole but ...totally worth it! The dock of one star due to us waiting about 15-20 minutes after opening before being let into the restaurant. Aside, I would definitely recommend this place if you're visiting in the Philadelphia area and are close by. When I return, I'm definitely trying other food items I had my eye on.
google avatar

Brad B.

Yelp
Wings were good. Rest was just okay. What stands out is how unwelcome I felt. Server didn't even try to connect in any way. The cook was friendlier, maybe they should let him serve.

Dashawn D.

Yelp
The service was terrible ! Barely checked on me and my date. The food came out late and we weren't asked if we liked everything. The tip is included in the check so maybe that's why the service is terrible, they don't care at all. After they take your order they forget about u
google avatar

Joseph B.

Yelp
Food was excellent. Place is just really small with limited seating, so you may have to wait quite a bit. Drinks are great, too. I'm not a big fan of waiting more than 30 minutes to be seated especially when there isn't much of a waiting area. It just happened to be raining that day, so the wait was that much more annoying. Kinda pricey, but the food is good.

Yelp
My Gawddddd so many good things to say about this restaurant. If you looking for a nasty, flavorless, unaffordable restaurant DO NOT come here! This place is beyond delicious and exceeded our expectation. This restaurant has a little bit of everything but if you're a pescatarian you will appreciate it even more. I couldn't decide what I wanted because everything on the menu seemed worthy of tasting so we literally ordered 4 things. "Lady's love salmon" (nice portion of salmon seasoned to perfection with side of Spanish rice and balsamic drizzled on top) "the salmon grill cheese" (the Spinach, onions, cheese and salmon is a tasty combo) "lobsta mobsta fries" (full of lobster!!! The sauce is delicious and fries and fried perfect. "Shrimp scampi" (my gawd this sauce is perfect! The shrimps are nice size and the added spinach, garlic and tomato's compliments the entire dish! Overall the waitress was super nice, the cooks were fast and the presentation match the taste! Make your way there now! Thank me later, You will not regret this! I didn't

Yelp
Came in around 1230 on a Saturday. It was about half full. I sat at the bar and a server met me immediately. I ordered a half pineapple half lemonade, it was pretty good. I ordered the Aquarius Jawn, shrimp n grits. Lately restaurants have been taking shrimp n grits to another level. They are definitely amongst those restaurants. An extremely flavorful dish! Small place but nice vibes and good music. I will be back to try the crab omelette. Overall 9/10, will recommend. I've read many reviews complaining about the cooks friendliness, and I understand because they are right there in front of u at the bar. But I'm just happy they are good at their primary job, cooking.
google avatar

Linda D.

Yelp
So I came back from brunch and it was phenomenal. 5 stars because the breakfast sandwich which was so amazing. We got it with turkey bacon and turkey sausage amazingly delicious. We also got the fish and grits with the shrimp and grits cream sauce. I don't even like cheese grits but these were bomb. Also we BYOB a bottle of champagne very good service. Still amazing music. Don't walk, run.

Yelp
Firstly, the food was great but the service was the worst I've ever seen. This was a first and last experience. I want to support black businesses (as I am also a black woman) but this was too terrible. 1) Every single person had an attitude (the waitress, the manager, the hostess). The waitress had an attitude because we asked for some water as if that was a ridiculous request The chefs were literally arguing in the open kitchen. 2) We were a table of 4, all our meals came out at a different time. The last person waited 20 mins after everyone else had their food. 3) We were not informed that they charged for BYOB ($5 fee) I truly believe there isn't much attention or care towards customer service because the 20% gratuity is already included in the bill.

Yelp
I have heard several positive reviews about this spot but still never had a true desire to go because it is rare that I'm in this part of town BUT today I proposed it as a dining option to my niece and she picked it... GREAT choice!!! Even though the restaurant is located on a small street, I was able to find parking immediately. We were greeted upon entering and also seated quickly AND a waiter came to our table shortly after (3 thumbs up so far!). We decided on an order of Buffalo Bully (fries, with strips of chicken, blue cheese crumbles and buffalo sauce) and it was soooo good! Just the right amount of each component... For our entrees, my niece ordered the Scampi and I ordered Sinful Salmon (which is grilled cheese with salmon, pepper jack cheese, spinach and onions) - I never would've imagined having salmon in a grilled cheese sandwich but the way that my sandwich was prepared was such a great blend of ingredients and it was just about cooked to perfection (I would've preferred that the bread not be as buttery); in spite of this, I would definitely order this again when I come back and trust that I WILL be back! We did not order dessert but it was another patron's bday so we were able to get a glimpse of what looked like banana pudding; OMG - it looked like it was delightful! And to top it off, when it is someone's bday, they put a sparkler in the dessert and play the Stevie Wonder version of happy bday :-D The decor in the restaurant is nice also. This space is not large so I would not recommend for large groups unless the entire restaurant is being rented (if they do this)... Definitely a nice place to grab a bite with your girls or have a low key date night.

Jessica R.

Yelp
I love everything about this place. Food is the best I ever had. Always fresh and the girl are wonderful.

Yelp
We came in on a Saturday expecting to order brunch but we were told that Brunch is only available on Sunday but Nevertheless the food was spectacular! Great music, vibes fast and professional service!

Yelp
Shout out to the sistas running this black owned establishment . My folk and I enjoyed our food and our time at PGC. Keep in mind this is a byob spot with a $5 corkage fee p/bottle. The vibe is cool, place is small but a simple operation. As a tip, consider investing in training for staff development in order to sharpen efficient with order taking and customer service. In any case, I'll definitely return.

Yelp
My coworker suggested that we meet up for brunch and she suggested that we try Pretty Girls Cook. As I walked in I was greeted by the host. Because I was waiting for my coworker to arrive he suggested that I go to the Fine Wine store as PGC doesn't serve alcohol. So after a quick trip I returned and we were seated. Note: PGC does not seat parties until everyone has arrived. We had a really nice server who provided us with orange juice to go with our champagne. The menu had amazing options. I opted for the salmon and grits and my coworker had whiting and grits. We split the sweet cream stuffed French toast. My salmon was perfectly seasoned and topped with the most amazing mixture of onions and red peppers that had a smoky paprika flavor and went well with the creamy cheesy grits. The stuffed French toast had an apricot spread that was sweet but not overly done. I really enjoyed my experience at PGC. The only con was that there was no silverware only disposable utensils and the chairs although beautiful were not the most comfortable.

Yelp
I started lucky enough to get parking directly in front of Pretty Girls Cook. It's nice inside and I was immediately greeted then seated by a Pretty Girl. Beware all of the seating is pub style and I'm 5'3" sitting at the counter, I had to uncomfortably reach up. This is unlike other restaurants counter space. However the counter does have hooks for your purse or coat. Accommodations for special needs are available upon request. The Pretty Girls cooking wore head coverings and gloves when handling the food. That's a great start for my dining experience! Although it took a minute to be greeted by anyone other than the host my server was pleasant. And yes she's a Pretty Girl too. The decor is black, pink and rose gold accents. As for the food what I had was fair didn't seem at all like 'buttermilk pancakes' but they were large a filling. The pancakes are so large they are enough to share. the beef bacon it was cooked crispy not burnt and very meaty. In all it was a pleasant experience just not inspiring enough to drive 30 minutes to get to. If I'm in the area I will stop in for dinner. For now this Pretty Girl is moving on.

Great food, great service. Visited for the first time for Mother's Day. Did not disappoint. Will be back.
