Ok so, I think this place needs more love. The negative reviews (currently) are pretty harsh in my opinion. I spent my teens and early twenties in south Florida, and you know what people in their teens and twenties eat? That's right, empanadas lol. They're cheap, hot, quick and good. Cuban empanadas are amazing, with a strong yet flaky dough with bubbles (not like a pastelito), that holds together the juices of the filling.
THESE empanadas are similar with a big difference. The dough is the same amazing result and the best I've had outside south Florida. The difference is the filling. Which is not wet from vegetables and seasoning. I wouldn't say it's unseasoned at all, the beef (res) empanada I had was really tasty, with filling more akin to a nice couple of tacos than some juicier empanadas. This has a great bonus of being REALLY EASY TO EAT ON THE GO. Also, not having a juicy filling means the item stays together better. They have salsas for the empanada so you can sauce it up as you like ;) it's a pink sauce that tastes a bit like vinegar.
The huevos jamón y queso (ham egg and cheese) also went over well, very cheesy eggs!
Also, the owner (she seemed like the owner operator, working the big shallow frying pot in the back) was very nice and is bilingual if your Spanish is not so great like mine . Good service
