Prime Time BBQ, Butcher Shop, and Catering

I came in for lunch and ordered the two entrée plates. I got tri-tip and ribs. It comes with two sides, which I ordered chili beans and mac & cheese. Mac & cheese was delicious, they even throw in some hot links bites so it gives a little spice. The chili beans were pretty good. I didn’t really care much for the ribs or the tri-tip. They both tasted as if they were yesterday‘s meat that had been cooked yesterday and reheated. I did order some peach cobbler to go and when I got home that evening, I had it and it was delicious. I hope this was just an off day.

My grandson had the barbecue rib plate and he upgraded side to French fries. He loved the ribs and the fries! He gave me his homemade chili beans because he's not a bean person. You can tell they are made from scratch. They are so good. I had the tri-tip wrap and it was delicious too. We didn't know they closed at 6pm we got there at 5:40, and they still served us. We sat out on the patio, and they turned on the heater lamp for us at our table, it was nice sitting outside even though it was dark, but they had it well lit and well heated. We enjoyed the atmosphere, service and the meal was delicious. We will definitely going back. 😋

really good brisket and chili beans and dinner rolls but the Mac and cheese is awesome!!! friendly staff, front porch dining with a massive BBQ pit in front,inside dining and a back patio dining room make for a place that's welcoming and cozy. one of the better restaurants in Bakersfield! highly recommend!!!

We ordered a large amount of food in separate orders for the work crew... I went for pick up. They were very nice and helped me get it all to my car. The food was delicious! I got one of the samplers and there is enough to feed me like 3 times over. Everything was flavorful and tender.

Food was amazing. Really liked the sandwich i got. My wife was impressed with her plate as well. Staff was friendly and helpful. Place was clean and well organized. Definitely would recommend this place.

Very friendly staff. Loved picking my steak from the butcher. Watched it, walked to the grill, and placed in front of me cooked perfectly. Everything we tried was amazing.

Absolutely amazing BBQ!! The best in Bakersfield hands down and some of the best out there....no question about it. The owner has got it down. Great staff, nice establishment and great tasting food!! Our office staff goes for lunch every so often and it never fails! The food is top notch and the "Dino Rib" is the best! You've got to go and enjoy this great food. Louis and the crew are the best!

Went for lunch on a Thursday, it was very busy so that was a good sign that the food must be very good. Well I was right. We had the lunch special Brisket sandwich with fries and bottomless soda fountain drinks. Sandwich was awesome! With pickles and a little coleslaw with sides of BBQ sauce and salsa. Service was friendly, fast and efficient. We will be back again.

Who needs to wait for the weekend for a bbq style burger and fries! This place has it! This place is always so friendly and welcoming! Ambiance it's bbq style outdoor picnic tables and smoke coming off the grill. 5/5 Just missing a mechanical bull

Good but pricy! I'd been eyeing Prime Time for a while and I finally stopped by for lunch. I had a 2 meat plate with tri-tip and chicken. The portion size is good, more than enough to fill me up and the guy at the counter was very friendly and explained a few things to me. The chicken is some of the best BBQ chicken I've ever had, that was the definite star of the dish. The spicy mac and cheese is also fantastic, it has pieces of hot link in it for a little added flavor. The beans were alright, kind of run of the mill and a bit bland. The tri-tip was well cooked but not seasoned great, it was pretty bland. Their BBQ sauce is alright but too sweet for my liking, the entire plate with 2 meats and 2 sides cost me $26 so it's steep. Overall still pretty good, I'd definitely go back for the chicken and the spicy mac and cheese.

Love everything here. I always get the bbq chicken wrap with avocado and it always hits the spot. Their chili cheese fries are one of my daughter's favorites as well. Ownership is amazing and have great customer service.

I'm basing this review on my order of a tri-tip plate with chili beans, salad, and a Pyrenees roll. Best tri-tip I've had in town. Very tender, flavorful all the way through, not overly smoked. The chili had a few different flavors and noticable slices if garlic, but was a tad salty. The salad had green peppers, which was a nice touch. I was given the wrong dressing, but after tasting it, I didn't mind because it was really good. I even liked the salsa that came with the meat. I'm not a fan of sweet, so I don't usually opt for BBQ sauce, and having options on the side was appreciated. And a Pyrenees roll...? C'mon. Who doesn't love those local rolls? I had a bite of the dino rib and really liked the flavor, but it was half fat and some bits of it were dry, according to the hubby. The hot link mac and cheese had a hint of spice, and that is based off a bite without a piece of the sausage in it. I'll definitely go back again and try other options, though it will be hard to not get the Tri-tip again.

Got excused from Jury Duty early and finally decided to try this place out before I went back to work. Got there before the lunch rush which was nice. The outside ambiance is pretty trendy and nice. Inside is a little smaller but there was a few tables to sit on. Opted to try the Dino rib with a side of hot link mac n cheese and omg did it not disappoint. The Dino rib was huge with plenty of meat on it (no diddy). It was super tender and juicy, cooked to perfection. The bed of coleslaw and pickels was also a nice touch as well. The Mac and cheese had a kick to it but surprisingly delicious. Probably my favorite Mac and cheese in town now. What I appreciated the most was that the owner walked around to each customer to check on how their food was. Always a plus in my book! Definitely will be back with my family next time!

I have yet to find a meal I do not love at this spot! My faves are the hot link Mac n Cheese, brisket nachos, ribs and the finale...yummy peach cobbler.

Experience was good. The meats were nice and tender and high quality. Really enjoyed the mac & cheese, it is on the spicy side just fyi. The beans were nice as well, they mixed in some bbq meat in there. The iced tea was great. Super friendly staff. Only thing I will say is that there wasn't a lot of flavor with the meats. I will not hold it against the place because maybe that is how they do their BBQ. I had the tri tip and spare rib plate. It was about $30 for what is in the photo with a drink

Tri tip wrap is amazing and when they have the Cali Wrap or West Coast can't remember the name but it has shrimp and tri tip and it is also really good! Everyone behind the counter are very helpful and friendly. A must try if you haven't been.

Our bank rep said shes buying lunch, then came back with prime time bbq... wow, it was my first time and wow... I got to eat a little of everything, tri tip, ribs, chicken,and hot links... all were bomb. The Mac & cheese was on point full of flavor. Chilli beans were just right. This was the complete mean when your hungry. I'm fading fast... I will definitely return & recommend

Had four different meats delivered to my house at all turned out terrific everyone loved it!

Arrived at 12:50, place was packed, but two tables were empty. Server was polite and nice. Place is set up like a deli, and clean. I ordered the deep pit combo (comes with two bbq sauces) and upgraded to fries which I highly recommend. They are thin and have the perfect crunch and inner softness in pairing with your sandwich. I ordered two extra bbq sauces for .25 The bun was soft and had golden brown texture. Deep pit meat was juicy and tasty. Bbq sauce had a hint of sweetness. The sweet tea was perfect and refreshing.

This place is a "MUST TRY" If you enjoy BBQ. Casual, laid back, variety of beer and wine choices. Fast service! The Mac and cheese with chopped hot links mixed in.... OMG!! It is Dee-lish!! Plus, I'm super impressed by their butcher counter and the available meats and sausages and links. You are missing out if you don't try this BBQ.

Food usually has great taste but the value for your dollar is not really there at all. $14 for a tri-tip sandwich with no sides or drink which is understandable. Comes with no grilled peppers/onions or cheese. Ok, so that means there is solid portion of meat, right? NO. This place ain't an option no more if this is what you're putting out there.

Dino rib!!!!!!!!!! You've got to try it. Don't be intimidated by its awesomeness. That's it. I'm done typing.

Prime Time: hidden gem in down town Bako. Bit pricey but worth the effort. I pulled a rib-eye from the Bucher block and opted to pay the $8 upcharge to have it cooked for me. Flavor profile was good, steak cooked to a perfect medium rare. With sides and a beer this set me back $50. I have yet to order from the lunch menu. I'll be back to try again.

Best BBQ in town. They say you get what you pay for and I mean if I'm being honest bbq is expensive no matter where you go. And I've had my fare share of bbq. For me they have Saltys beat by a landslide. Not only by taste but also by Quantity. They have lunch specials which I love. Also if you sign up for they're rewards you get discounts. The last time I went I got $12 off be because of they're rewards points. Not only are they an already cooked bbq restaurant but they also sell great cuts of meat and they're wine selection is nice. Cant wait to grab me a bottle the next time I go. If you're in the mood for ribs my advice go early dont wait they sell out fast. With all that being said go try them out if you want the best bbq in town. Support local and you wont be disappointed. You'll actually be craving it after you had it ounce. Thank me later. Meat is incredible! I have yet to find something I haven't enjoyed big time. The Mac and cheese is superb! (And I'm a total Mac and cheese snob) I love the vibe, great outside seating too! The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about their food/menu. Prices are so great too, which is a huge plus in today's world.

Absolutely some of the best BBQ in town! Popped in for a really late lunch, place was not busy so the wait was not long at all. I really like the set up out front with the plants and tables. Staff immediately greeted myself and my husband. My husband ordered the pork Mac sandwich and I got the tri tip. Prices are not cheap but let's face it, economy is nuts right now so I was expecting the prices. It was definitely worth it!!! The overall food and staff were amazing. If you haven't tried them out, now is the time. 5 stars prime time.

We found this place in the downtown area while searching for a butcher shop. This cool place also serves a variety of delicious barbecue meats, ribs, burgers, and the fixin's. There is park style bench seating outside with a string of lights cascading the area. The atmosphere is totally laid back and relaxed. There are also a few tables and chairs inside and out in case you can't handle park bench seating. Take out is also an available option. Husband loves to barbecue and smoke meat; and he has found his happy place for USDA prime cuts. He's purchased the brisket, filet mignon, ribeye, wagyu New York strip steak, and Basque style sausage. Every cut purchased here has been fresh, tender and delicious. (Kudos as well to my grill master chef husband). I will say that the Basque sausage is really spicy. If you can't handle heat you should probably pass on this one. Their service is fast, friendly and professional. We've also tried their restaurant's ribs and tri-tip. Both were tasty, but the real champion, in my opinion, is their mouth watering, creamy, and oh so delicious mac n cheese. It's the best! We had our heart set on picking up some tomahawk steaks to make for dinner, but unfortunately they were sold out the last time we were here. That's okay...gives us an excuse to come back.

A Coworker and I stopped in we both thought the food was pretty good. He got a burger and I got the California cheese steak. Both were good. We both wished we had ordered other things after sitting there and watching other items coming out. We ended up here by accident and we were in a rush. So we made our choices quickly. The service was good and friendly. It was nice and clean. We both plan on stopping in and trying other stuff. The bbq plates looked great and they have pit beef on the menu.

Love it! The food is amazing the staff is very friendly and nice and it's good bbq. It's 5 star bbq the place is old school style looking because it's a very old shop and it has a lot of treats and goodies and snacks that you won't find in a regular but only inside prime time bbq.

Literally the best pulled pork sandwich we've ever had. Great tri-tip, great ribs, fire mac n cheese (literally). Special shoutout to the soda fountain, has some really good, don't see everyday brands/choices.

This is by far my favorite steakhouse in Bakersfield, California. Customer service is amazing they make you feel welcome. The atmosphere is nice. They also have a butchery. I like that you can choose your meat and then they will cook it for you. The steak is so juicy and flavorful.!

The food was so good that I forgot to take a picture I recommend ordering early so you skip the line.. I ordered some tri tip, Mac n cheese (oh em gee ) and the peach cobbler (so good with a scoop of vanilla ice cream ) . I made myself a sandwich with Mac n cheese, tri tip, a slice of Country rustic sourdough bread from Panera then topped it off with some BBQ sauce... no words can express the spiritual moment I had with that sandwich ‍. Can't wait to try the rest of the menu.. definitely worth a try in the heart of downtown Bakersfield.

My only complaint is that they close at 3pm now daily, and it's impossible to get there anytime after work!! Amazing place and amazing food 10/10 recommend!

I love Prime Time BBQ! The people there are so friendly and really make you feel at home there. I tried their Dino Ribs and they are ~heavenly~ they are so delicious and mouth watering I wish they had Dino Ribs all the time but they are available only sometimes. The restaurant is really nice too as it doubles as a deli that you can order fresh meat cuts from. Love ordering from here as the people are friendly and the food is delicious. definitely recommend trying here.

Everything about this place is amazing!! The food, the service, the vibes! The food is delicious and priced very well! You get a lot of food for the price you pay! You can tell that the owners put a lot of thought into the place! I love the outdoor seating, especially in the back! They also have live music some weekends. The best BBQ and the best service you will find in Bakersfield. If you are lucky enough to order a Dino rib, then don't hesitate to try this cut. I really enjoy this bbq joint. Now I realize that Bakersfield has a number of places to get good bbq and this place deserves a place in the top five. My Weimaraner also gives it four paws. Oh by the way they love well behaved puppets there. Their meat counter is really impressive. Now, I can say that I'm not surprised by that when I found out that the man behind that counter is the same guy that was responsible for the ausome meat at the former Green Frog market. I went by there today. They were closed and their phone wasn't working. Are they still in business? I would be very disappointed if they weren't.

I was introduced to this place by coworkers (I was in town for work). This place is AMAZING. I love the eccentric ambience. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. I loved smelling the barbecue grill when I walked in and seeing the fresh meat in the display. I had the lunch special which was a tri-tip sandwich with fries. I added the beans and a peach cobbler. Oh and the sweet tea was perfect.

Inside is nice and clean. I got the bbq plate tri tips and spare ribs. Food portions were a little less than I was expecting and the Mac and cheese definitely has spice to it. Spare ribs definitely were the best thing I tried. Servers were friendly. Overall pork chop and bubbas definitely offer more food for your buck.
