Prime29 Steakhouse

This was the first time my husband and I dined here and it was a wonderful experience. The ambiance was beautiful and romantic. The food was exceptional. We were seated within 10 mins of our reservation time, even though they were extremely busy. Jodi was an absolute treasure. Smiling ear to ear, explained everything well and gave us exceptional food recommendations. She is a gem and definitely made the experience that much better. You can tell she really wants people to enjoy their time. Their attention to detail is also amazing, about 6 staff members told us “happy anniversary” before we even sat down. A sign was placed on our table welcoming us as well and we even got desert on the house! Exceptional restaurant and service all around.

Celebrated my 40th Birthday in the Onyx room and I don't think words can express how great the ambiance, food, and service was! Prime 29 made my day so special. Starting off with the event coordinator Natasha, she was amazing. Very responsive and made sure the night was everything I wanted. The food was amazing. All my guests left full and happy. The drinks were amazing! The servers exceeded our expectations. Andi K, Andi R, and Olsi are top notch! Before the dinner started, they helped make sure seating was where I wanted it and the tables were in proper placement. They made sure our cups stayed full, our food orders were correct, our tables were cleared, and they even boxed up and bagged leftovers and dessert. Out of all the venues we had to choose from I'm so happy I chose prime 29!!! My guests can't stop talking about the night!

The drinks and food were delicious, each course was better than the last. The greeters wished us a happy anniversary when we arrived as well as our server Andi. He went above and beyond to make us feel special and even surprised us with a slice of chocolate cake and a candle with our desserts. It was our first time coming to the restaurant and we plan to spend every anniversary here in the future.

My visit here has easily been the best experience I have had at any restaurant. Jenn was amazing and so was the food. My wife and I visited for our anniversary and we were pleasantly surprised with both the food and amazing service. I've been to many mid to high end restaurants, across many different states (+Canadian cities), but I often find the service a little lacking for the price. Jenn made sure there wasn't anything lacking during our visit and we definitely made the right decision coming here.

My wife and I decided on a whim to have a nice dinner out and made a reservation at Prime 29. I had a couple of $50 gift certificates that I originally purchased from Costco for my parents a few years ago, but they were never able to use them before my father passed away. I’ve held onto them since, and we finally decided to use them for dinner last night. On my way home from work, I even stopped at Costco and purchased another $100 worth of Prime 29 gift cards, knowing full well we’d be spending at least $200. Let me be clear up front: the food was very good and the service was excellent. That’s what makes the rest of this so frustrating. When the check arrived, our total was $191 and a 20% gratuity had been automatically added. I did not see this posted anywhere. I normally tip at least 20%, so I didn’t add anything additional—but it should absolutely be disclosed clearly. The real issue came when I put down four $50 gift cards along with my credit card. I noticed our server talking with the manager, who then came over acting friendly and making small talk. Then he casually informed us that they would only accept two gift cards because it was their “new policy.” Excuse me—what? There is no expiration date on these cards, and nowhere—not at Costco, not on the cards, and not at the restaurant—does it state that you can only use $100 worth at a time. This policy felt completely made up on the spot. I was then told I could “use the rest next time.” That’s not acceptable. I bought these gift cards to use that night, not to be forced into coming back and spending another $200+ out of pocket just to use money I’ve already paid for. Prime 29 chooses to sell gift cards at Costco at a discount. That’s their business decision. You don’t get to change the rules after the fact. What if I bought $500 worth of these for a client? Are they only allowed to use $100 and then be stuck paying cash every visit? None of this seems right, and if this is truly a policy, it needs to be clearly stated everywhere. Frankly, it shouldn’t be a policy at all. For context, we spent nearly $200 on two salads, a ribeye, salmon, two sides, butter cake, and two soft drinks—no appetizers, no alcohol. I’m not complaining about the price; I know what Prime 29 costs. I’m complaining about an unfair, undisclosed policy that left a terrible taste after what should have been a great evening. I’ll also be contacting Costco to ask whether Prime 29 is even allowed to restrict gift card usage like this. Very disappointing experience, and not one I expected from a restaurant at this level. Edit: In response to the restaurant claiming that this is a written policy to only accept (2) Costco gift cards, attached is the back of the gift card that they returned to me unused to use at my next visit. Nowhere does it state this policy. I will be contacting Costco in regards to this as well. I also emailed stoli before the holiday and never received a response. The actual restaurant response to me was in fact changed from the first time I read it.

My husband made a reservation for my birthday, and the atmosphere was elegant, warm, and welcoming. The hostess was friendly and seated us right away. Our server, Jimmy and Andy K., greeted us with a big smile and gave a thoughtful acknowledgment of my birthday, which made the evening feel even more special. From start to finish, both Jimmy and Andy K. provided excellent service. The drinks were unique and fun—especially the flaming strawberry lemon drop! For dinner, we had the lamb chops, which were incredibly tender, and a perfectly cooked 12 oz. steak. We also enjoyed the lobster mac and cheese and fresh asparagus—everything was delicious. To top off the evening, they surprised me with a sparkling birthday cake, which was such a sweet and memorable touch. Thank you for making my birthday special

I celebrated my birthday here today and was very impressed by the service and food. Olsi was a wonderful server. He was very kind and attentive. Our food came out quickly and tasted great. The popcorn shrimp and Ribeye were the highlights. Thank you for a great experience

This was our first dining experience here at Prime 29. Everything from the ambience to the surprise birthday dessert was fabulous. Very delicious food and our waiter Nicholas was amazing! We will come back next time to taste the Chef's special. Love this place! Happy 54th Birthday to me🥳❤️😋

My husband and I attended a Christmas gathering for his job at Prime29. I really liked the small room set aside for this purpose. My husband and I both ordered the Wedge Salad, and I thought it was ok. I don't think I would order it again. The dressing was rather nondescript. We both ordered the ribeye, and then split an order of mac & cheese, and an order of brussels sprouts. The steak was cooked on the rarer side of medium-rare, but not objectionable because it had a nice crust on it. The flavor was good, and was enhanced by the accompanying zip sauce. I would come here again for the steak. The mac & cheese was really delicious - super cheesy! I didn't care for the brussels sprouts as much. There was a sharp spicy aftertaste that I didn't care for. Something reminiscent of horseradish. They were also a touch underdone, so they weren't my favorite. I thought the service at Prime29 was really excellent as well.

My friend visiting from Vegas wanted some really good calamari. Although I don't eat seafood, I remembered others I know loved the calamari at Prime29. So, that's where we went. Prime29 never disappoints. Despite it being Sweetest Day, my friend and I were able to sit at the bar. Service was great. He loved the calamari but didn't care for the mussels entree. I enjoyed the cajun chicken pasta. We both enjoyed our beverages. The ambiance was absolutely perfect for those celebrating the holiday. Prime29 is a longtime, local favorite for a reason.

I thought Prime29 had done away with happy hour and I was happily wrong! Met up with a friend for drinks and light bites, and everything hit the spot. The food was, of course, delicious, and the happy hour drinks were good. The holiday decorations were on point and added all the festive vibes. Definitely left feeling full, happy, and full of holiday cheer!

Prime29 has a beautiful design and layout and I always love the sexy/chill vibe it has as well. The staff is always super nice and amazing as well. The food amazing as well! Cooked to perfection! I always start with a glass of Moscato D'asti, which again is just juice for grown ups lol. The Prime Caesar was good, with a great presentation. The Crab Stuffed Salmon and Asparagus was full of flavor and amazing as well. The Mac and Cheese and Cajun Pasta were fantastic too and hit the spot!

We had party of 8 reservation this past Sat at 7pm.I am sorry to say that this was the worst dining experience that we have e er had.Every single entree was incorrect and either sent back or simply inedible entirely.Our server seemingly could understand our orders?To make matters worse he totally messed up the checks at the end.Also,since when do fine dining restaurants do not automatically bring a bread basket automatically.What a disappointment and complete waste of all of our hard earned money.

Always a great time for intimate dinner, dinner out with friends, private event, we've never had a bad experience. Ambiance is dark and romantic, but changes vibes with different decor, which is cool. Food is phenomenal, staff is awesome, can't say enough great things!

What a lovely steakhouse! We came here for a girl's night and had a fabulous time. Our server was incredible and made for a seamless night - she was so friendly and checked in frequently, and we had a great time with her. The interior was beautiful and decorated for the holidays, and there was lovely live music playing on one side of the restaurant. We were given bread to start, this was warm and delicious! For drinks some girls had one of the mocktails that was delicious. We started off with burrata to share - I only wish we had more of the crispy bread that came with this! They gave us 2 pieces although there was 5 of us. The specials sounded amazing that night but we all ended up ordering off the main menu. The food did take a while to arrive but was well worth the wait. I had the Chilean sea bass which was incredible!! The breading and the sauce were amazing and added so much to the flavor. For sides we split the Mac and cheese and truffle fries and both were devoured. Lastly to end off we had the lava cake and Creme brûlée - these were incredible!

The Prime 29 Steakhouse is a combination of excellence and elegance! You immediately recognize the elegance of the restaurant as you step inside. You are greeted as if it were a formal event. We were there for our anniversary dinner. Every single person we came in contact with congratulated us and wished us a happy anniversary. We were seated in a large booth offering privacy to enjoy conversation. The entire staff and management were professional, kind, prompt and attentive. Our server Jodi was exceptional in her service. Knew the entire menu of food and drink by memory. Helped make the selections that were best served for us. She was the best we have experienced in recent memory. The food was outstanding and of the highest quality. Ahi Tuna tartar with avocado just melted in your mouth and was a huge portion. Bone in filet and bone in ribeye were the best we have ever had. So perfectly prepared and so very good. The accompanying sides were exceptionally prepared. The desserts were so good, so fun and served with a little fireworks theater. We thoroughly enjoyed Prime 29. We made a reservation for next month before we even left the restaurant. Cannot wait to get back and see what Jodi recommends.

Nearly Wow! 4.5 stars, food hit the spot worth every penny. Place was very nicely decorated, given it was special/busy night for them spacing of table was slightly tight but comfortable. Timing for every course was almost perfect except the first starting item took long, then it flowed perfectly. Would go back again, halal items on menu. Steak cooked to exactly how asked

OMG where do I start? Superb food and service. Went on a recent Saturday night and live music was on the agenda. It was loud and busy but still romantic and subdued at the same time. We ordered the Chilean Sea Bass, lobster bisque, 8oz filets and the linguine with vegetables and beef tips. All entrees were equally excellent and cooked to perfection with fresh ingredients and perfect seasoning. The service was top notch and efficient but not intrusive. We did have a reservation but had to wait about 40 minutes to get a table. Because of this the owner came to our table and comped us a dessert tray with about 12 items on it including cakes and crème brûlée. We had a lot of fun and understand why this place had been going strong since it opened in May of 2012.

We had Valentine's Day weekend reservations here. They were honored and we were seated right away, despite the restaurant being very busy. They have a beautiful bar in the center and seating across from it. On the other side, there are private dining rooms and an outdoor, enclosed patio that seats many people as well. We got a nice booth in the back. Our waiter was attentive and offered a few recommendations. My husband and I ordered our usual, filet with mashed potatoes and corn. The food came out perfectly, Our steaks were at the temperatures we ordered, with fresh sides too. We were in a bit of a rush and were glad they accommodated every request. In the many times we've dined here, we have yet to leave with a bad experience. If you're in the area and looking for a nice steakhouse, I highly recommend giving Prime 29 a try.

Great food, always. Amazing service, our waiter was great! Love the atmosphere. They had a live singer, Danielle and she was phenomenal. Overall, great night and vibes. We asked for steak, broccolini and potatoes with no butter/ dairy and they were happy to accommodate and it still tasted amazing.

Beautiful restaurant, amazing food, magnificent service, very nice band! Prime 29 is a vibe. The food did not miss! Ribeye melted in my mouth. Aged to perfection at the right temperature. Sea bass was moist and delicious. Calamari was lightly battered with jalapeños that took the flavors over the top. Brussels sprouts were delicious along with the asparagus paired with a glass of wine. It still leaves the taste in my mouth. The service and overall experience left a warmth in my heart. Jimmy was the perfect host and made my bday one to remember. He gave me my first handmade Gucci bag (inside joke)! Service was professional, thoughtful and prompt. The band had the place rocking. Not too loud and played all genres of music that would have everybody bopping their heads and tapping their feet. Place is a must go especially for special occasions but they also carry a happy hour. A live Band is there Thursday to Saturday I believe. We will be back and you should too. This place will not disappoint. Prices were worth the total experience.

Nice food and service, came here for my birthday with my fiancé. Gus and the general manager made sure we were well taken care of. It was nice and dim inside. The food was a bit hotter than normal, I burned my gums on the fingerling potatoes so be careful. The steak was also over salted but that's fine. Overall great evening. Would definitely come again!

The food was amazing! I had the Cajun chicken pasta and my husband had the burger! They brought us a free dessert for our anniversary! So sweet

After a day of shopping my partner and I were starvin' Marvin. We keep a pescatarian / vegetarian diet at home, but once in awhile, we do red meat. Only if done right. Imagine our surprise to find somewhere last minute where the meat was actually...good! We may have been the only ones really dining at 4:30 on a Saturday, but there isn't much where we live in Ohio, and we were in the area. Based on reading reviews, we came to Prime 29. The ambience isn't much different than going to a normal steakhouse in a Vegas casino. Dark wood, white curtains hung from the rafters. Our server was kind, approachable, and even a bit humorous. I couldn't pinpoint what country he was from, but his demeanor was warm and welcoming. I didn't get to try my partners' dish, so this review is just based on what I had. The ROYALE Sparkling Wine, Crème De Cassis, Curaçao Blanco - refreshing, slightly sweet, but balanced! Only gripe were the raspberries garnish. One of them was moldy. I did make a joke about it with the server though. Maybe best to check your fruit when the drink is $15. Wild Mushrooms with rosemary, shallots, and garlic butter - tasty, roasted nicely, with a good chew (not soggy or slimy), aromatic Mashed Potatoes - Joël Robuchon would have been pleased. Hard not to lap up the entire (Staub or was it All-Clad?) mini pan in its entirety. Filet - cooked medium rare to medium, perfectly cooked, still hot, just a bit of crusted sear on the outside and tender as a babies bottom on the inside. I can't believe it, but I actually ate the entire thing. Expensive, but not crazy. Yes, we would definitely come back.

The Caesar salad dressing was very good however the sliced Parmesan cheese that are companies that could cut your teeth and your gums on it is dried out and old and it's a little disappointing in a restaurant that charges $35 for two broiled chicken legs makes you pay four hours for bread on the table Just saying these restaurants are getting a little ridiculous.

For my money, Prime29 serves the best steaks in Michigan! If you're a steak lover, do yourself a favor and order the special bone-in filet -- it's absolutely phenomenal. Tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection, it's a cut that truly stands out. The atmosphere is upscale yet inviting, and the service is always top-notch. Prime29 never disappoints!

A pleasant evening! We came in for a nice dinner on a Tuesday night. We had made reservations in advance and noticed that the restaurant was mostly full. (Be aware - There's a hefty penalty for making a reservation as a no-show. $50!). The food was all very good. My steak was perfectly cooked. The asparagus was wonderfully tender, and the calamari was done very well. This isn't the kind of experience we'll go to more than once or twice a year, and we were overally happy with our food experience. The problem for me was the service. Our server came in, and we could barely hear him over the buzz of the restaurant. To be clear, the restaurant seemed like a normal volume. We just couldn't hear very clearly. On top of that, we ordered an appetizer but hadn't decided on a main entrée. By the time the water eventually found us again, we had finished our appetizer completely. Where'd ya go? Eventually a manager-type came to check on our meal, and we had no complaints about the food. The service was just head-scratching considered the automatically added gratuity. This place was tasty, and we enjoyed our meal. We'll just have to cross our fingers for a better service experience next time.

Absolutely outstanding each and every time !! THE best in Detroit. Amazing food, great environment and top notch service. Every dish was top notch in all of our visits. My personal fav is Prime burger, this is the best burger I have ever had and the fries comes with it are superb . My wife loves the Halal steak.

I went here as a late valentines date and we were both excited as ive heard good things. Im overall not that impressed with the food as i thought i would be, i feel like paying for the price we did it was pretty underwhelming and something i could easily make at home or get at a lower quality restaurant, which for the price of food here is unacceptable to say. Our waiter was not very attentive or friendly, i didnt expect to have a super friendly waiter but at least someone who didnt seem annoyed at me and didnt want to help explain the menu or dishes. im just disappointed because i had really high hopes this would be a favorite spot of mine. The salmon didnt have really any flavor and the pasta with steak was cooked well but the sauce was pretty bland and basic. The salad was a pretty typical Caesar salad which i did like. I did enjoy the lava cake but i can easily get that somewhere else. I would not go back here unless someone else was paying and didnt mind spending extra for basic food

Prime29 is our Friday "go to" restaurant. My wife calls it our "Cheers," because "Everybody knows our name!" We have been going weekly for years! Servers Iris, and Jen are simply the best, always anticipating what we would like. Both are so friendly and add to the evening enjoyment. They are not just servers, but have become friends. Last night Iris made our 10th anniversary special, treating us to a lovely dessert selection. We were THE FIRST party, 10 years ago, when we rented out the restaurant for our wedding reception! While he wasn't there last pm, Zoren makes a great Bananas Foster. (You have to ask, because it is not on the menu - Yet) Prime 29 will continue to be our "go to" place for years to come, with excellent food and service. Excellent restaurant for a nice romantic evening, or a place to wind down after a week of work.

What a dissapointing meal in a beautiful dining room. The specials sounded really good but I chose the filet since its a steakhouse. I couldn't cut the steak.. it was that tough and inedible so I sent it back. The next filet was the same, this is a steakhouse right. Then I ordered the lobster bisque and it was too salty and dissapointing. The servers kept taking my silverware so when my food arrived I had to ask for silverware. Overall food was mediocre and overpriced.

For my birthday we chose Prime29 to dine for dinner. Upom entering we were greeted graciously and led to our table. Our experience was awesome. Our hosts were Alejandro and Roben. They were rhe absolute best in the way they were attentive to every single detail. They went over and above to accommodate us and they met every single need. They were also pleasant and engaging. What a way to celebrate. This is a win for us and we wanted them to know how appreciative we are of their service...thank you!

Wow, great food and beautiful restaurant. Steaks, sides, drinks, live entertainment, and dessert were all amazing. The only thing I would improve upon is service. It was painfully slow! It took almost 3 hours from start to finish and that's a bit much. Luckily we had nowhere to be. Honestly the food is so delicious I'll be back but I'll be sure to pack my patience.

Everyone in our party would agree that the food and service were exceptional. We will definitely return for future events. One thing to note is that there is live entertainment that makes conversation difficult for a large party in the bar area. The entertainment was lovely and conversation would probably not have been a problem for a table of up to four people, but it was just a bit too loud for us to hear each other on opposite ends of our table of 12.

Prime is a beautiful restaraunt and the location can't be beat. This is a moderately quiet and beautiful area in West Bloomfield. The area is sometimes busy with shoppers and traffic on Orchard Lake, but quiet, upscale and great area in general. The parking is great, no valet is needed due to the large amount of parking shared with Plum Market. Prime is located at the end of the parking lot so it has front and side parking. In the fall - Summer outside seating is very relaxing. The outside has a beautiful outside fireplace which adds to the ambience. The food at my last visit was just okay. I had Chilean Sea Bass, and it was good. However, someone in my dinner party had the same thing and her portion was visibly smaller than mine. Hers was also very dry and she said it was tasteless. I think it was because she asked for gluten free. They could do a better job substituting because it was a $50 dollar piece of fish and that's not cool. All in all the Ahi Tuna Tartare was delicious. The rest of the food was acceptable, just not fabulous. There are ALOT of young people who dine at Prime, despite it's hundreds of dollars. I wonder if the food is not as spectacular as it should be for that reason. I don't know, but it was okay.The Maitre d was very nice and came to check on us - we did not complain.

My visit to prime29 was average overall. Presentation was great, my manhattan was amazing, along with my mash potatoes with sautéd vegetables, and the butter cake affogato. But here is where I have a problem, I had the bone in fillet while it was cooked perfectly the cut itself was average best. It was not a prime cut, nor was it worth $125 maybe 50 or 60 at the best. A great cut steak should not have anything added to it except salt and pepper. I should've known better when the steak came out with butter on top. One last issue was the automatic 20% gratuity. I will not visit your restaurant again because of that and your waitress would've gotten more of a tip,

Valentine's Day was perfect at Prime29 Steakhouse! They decorated the place with Roses, they had live entertainment and everything was fresh and so delicious. The presentation of the food was so beautiful. Wow! I want to go back. I had a yummy cocktail called Coconut Pom with rum. I felt like I was back at home in Miami Beach. A great tropical drink! The service was great! Everyone was very attentive.

The service was very good. Ambience only fair. Very noisy. The food was excellent and very pricey.

The ambiance was lovely. Low lighting with beautiful hanging accent lights. The greeter was very attentive and seated us at a lovely half round table. The dinner was absolutely delicious! We had a chopped Mediterranean salad and a wedge salad. Both fresh and very tasty. They gave a hot loaf of bread with a delicious olive oil accompaniment. I had to get the filet mignon after all we are at an aged steak restaurant. . It was cooked to perfection and had a truffle butter sauce on the side. My husband had the Chilean sea bass and it had a crunchy pan seared crust. Our waiter Mario was awesome and discussed bourbon with my husband and even gave him a complimentary tasting. We finished with coffee and a butter cake that had ice cream and a warmed caramel sauce. One of the best meals we have ever eaten!
