"This counter-service sandwich spot works well for a quick waterfront meal at National Harbor. You can sit in the dining room, but Primo is particularly clutch when you want to eat by the Awakening and watch the boats go back and forth to Georgetown. Grab a primo turkey diablo piled high with spicy meat and pepper jack cheese if you’re solo, or a whole if you’re sharing, and enjoy a mini picnic that requires almost no planning." - Tristiaña Hinton

Lunch at PrimoHoagies on Washington Avenue Wednesday at 11:30. Quite some time ago I asked for recommendations for good old style Italian subs with soft rolls. I do not like a hard crust on the bread. I got several good recommendations, and one was to try PrimoHoagies and ask for an unseeded roll. I went today and ordered the Old Italian with Dry cured Capicola, Prosciutto and sharp provolone. I had the small (6-inch sub), a bag of chips and a diet Pepsi bottle and the cost was $19.32 including a 20% tip. The unseeded bread was just what I like, soft and fresh without any crunch. The small was plenty for lunch and I think I have a healthy appetite. The next size up, the Primo (probably 9 inches, not positive) would have been more than I needed. The full size would probably be perfect if I wanted to bring half home. The ingredients were fresh and plentiful with plenty of meat and cheese. The picture is deceiving because I cropped it too close, it is good sized sub. There are plenty of toppings and dressings to choose from and it came out prepared exactly as I expected. This location is a sub/sandwich shop. You order and pay at the counter, and they bring your sub out to you. There were two customers ahead of me who were ordering just as I arrived, and it took just 5 minutes for my order to come out. The cashier was friendly and patient with my questions and indecisiveness! There are six two top tables. The TV was on a sports channel (not my thing), and I could have done without it, but was appropriate for the setting. The room is not as pleasant/fun as Cheba Hut which I enjoyed but is fine to “grab lunch.” I don’t go for a sub very often and when I do, I usually look for some version of an Italian, but they have lots of other choices on a varied menu. Thanks to whomever gave me the recommendation especially about ordering the unseeded roll. Very happy and will put it in my rotation for days I work remotely as it is just a few minutes from home in River Oaks.

Mixed experience. I had a Bada Bing Hoagie with Roasted Pork and Roasted Bell Pepper, on a seeded Hoagie roll. The Roasted Pork was absolutely dry. I slathered mayonnaise and oil and vinegar on it, and it was barely edible. Generally, I stick with sandwiches that have been warmed, and warmth would have helped. The waitress had asked what I wanted on my sandwich when I ordered, and I said I'd like it as it came. Should have added stuff to the sandwich to make it better. As a result, I did not eat all of my sandwich. My wife loved her Italian Hoagie. She was asked what she wanted on her sandwich, and she asked for extra tomatoes, and the sandwich came with more veggies on it, which undoubtably made it better. It was 75 degrees outside, but the place was freezing. Service was OK, but not inspired. 3 of the 6 tables had not been cleaned when we arrived, even though there were no others in the restaurant, and there were 3 people working the counter. Not a great first time / last time visit.

This is a nice, clean sandwich shop! The food is great and the bread is always fresh. Rowa and the crew are always pleasant. If you are tired of the boring sandwiches, come and check out Promo Hoagies.

Two AWESOME sandwiches including the special pork and the classic Italian. Fast service and amazing flavor!

Google
10/10 recommend. I’ve been to Primo’s 2 times this week because it hit the spot! Definitely love how fresh the meat and veggies are. The bread had a perfect little crunch on the outside and was soft on the inside. I don’t normally get peppers too, but the vinegar from it added the extra layer of flavor I didn’t know I wanted. Staff was incredible too. Tarek had suggested I try the dirt pudding, and it was so good! Very chocolate and creamy- not too overbearing on the sweetness like some puddings. Definitely would suggest checking them out. Very filling and a packed sandwich.

Google
Highly highly recommend!! Excellent and affordable east-coast style sandwiches. Extremely friendly employees who gave us dessert on the house for our first time here. Will definitely be back! We very much enjoyed the dirt pudding! So so delicious

Google
Sandwich was amazing as always but I went in 15 minutes before close and was told the oven was off already. I work in the industry too and know closing time is closing time but 15 minutes before in a fast food spot doesn’t seem right. Tall gentlemen was really short with me as well and made it uncomfortable. Unfortunate experience because the sandwiches really are so good.

Google
First off…for the people who left reviews about how the bread is “hard”, it’s not. I’m from NY and the northeast has some of the BEST bread in the U.S.! That’s why the bagels, pizza and bread alone can’t be copied anywhere else in the country. It’s a crusty bread. Not only is it delicious, it’s practical. If you have soft breads like Subway and such they get soggy fast and don’t hold up. Between all the sauces, gravies and dressings the crusty breads with the soft insides not only hold up, but it makes for the BEST bites every time you sink your teeth into that crusty sandwich! This place is awesome!!! Kudos to you Phillies,(even though you’re probably Eagles fans), the food is delicious! Order from there…YOU WON’T BE DISAPPOINTED!!!💯

Yelp
I had lunch here a couple of weeks ago for the first time., Parking in this nice strip center can be tight during meal time. Inside there is an order counter and a few tables and chairs for dine ins but this is primarily a to go location. They were running a special that day and I took advantage of it. I ordered a Primo ham and cheese dressed. With chips a soft drink and tax it was $20. Not sure what the regular price would have been. On a busy day it took about 10 minutes to arrive. I must say it was a quality sandwich that tasted very good. I enjoyed every bite and made a mental note that next I will probably order the smaller (non Primo size). Like I said I really liked the sandwich and it was plenty large for me. I think had I paid regular price for the meal it would have been around $24 which is quite expensive. You decide if this place is in your budget. The hoagies are a cut above.

Yelp
Visited Primo for the first time. Clean atmosphere and friendly service! Ordered Diablo Italian, chips, rice pudding and a white chocolate macadamia nut cookie. Sandwich not diablo at all, actually more sweet than anything. Bread had the fresh crunch you want and it was filled like it should be. Needed the spice it claims in the diablo spice and soppressata Cookie is a chunky kind, really hard, crumbled to dry pieces when attempting to take a bite. Threw it away. Rice pudding was a no go. They added way too much of the pure vanilla extract and it was never cooked out. So didn't enjoy also threw it away. Not sure I'd give it another try. Love a good sandwich but there's tough competition in Houston.

Yelp
First time ! Sandwiches/Hoagies are literally one of my love languages so, I recently visited Primo Hoagies located on Washington Ave. in Houston. About a year ago I found out that I had some Italian heritage/blood stemming from my mother's side of the family so i must be pre-hardwired to eat a deli sandwich. It was a Saturday afternoon with nobody in sight, which was great cause I was hungry! The decor on the inside was pretty cool and colorful. Nice seating areas and one T.V. With it being my first time the lady who took my order gave me some great recommendations. So I decided to try the "Italian" primo size sandwich, adding both sweet and hot peppers to give it an extra kick. Sandwich was made in a decent amount of time. Visually, I appreciated how all the food elements of hoagie were presented when I unraveled it. It seemed like it was a sense of pride putting it together. Overall, I was impressed with the quality and flavor of the hoagie. The bread was fresh though a tad bit tough & chewy. The combination of meats was spot on--each bite was packed with a decent balance of savory and spicy flavors, thanks to the peppers I added. The portion size was generous. A little bit on the pricer side. I would suggest getting the primo size if you're on the hungrier side. The only reason I'm giving it 3 stars which really would have been like 3.5 is due to the service & meat while friendly and helpful, wasn't as enthusiastic as I'd like and the meat lacked a little flavor for me, as well as the bread being a tad bit tough and chewy. However, nonetheless still good! I may be back to try more from their menu.

Yelp
When my italian coworker suggested this for lunch, I knew it had to be good. But I was not prepared for HOW good. Let me start off by saying that this place is busy during lunch! There was a couple people waiting on their orders when we got there and as we waited to have our order taken, a nice little line formed behind us as well. Most of their business seems to be to go. Don't be alarmed though, the three ladies behind the counter work FAST & EFFICIENTLY! I was very impressed by them and their speed when taking orders and preparing orders while still giving great customer service. I kept it simple and ordered their Italian, which they say is their #1 hoagie. This hoagie has prosciutto, hot capicola, salami, and provolone cheese. I made sure mine all the other extra toppings as well such as lettuce, tomato, pickles, and hot peppers on the side. The hoagie was amazing! I got the peppers on the side just in case they were too spicy but they were just the right amount of spicy. Not too much oil or vinegar on the sandwich but still enough that it didnt feel dry. And the bread....OMG THE BREAD! So so good! Lastly, I was introduced to Herr chips here. I got the honey jalapeno and they have to be some of the best chips I have ever had! I want to go back and grab a big bag of them which they sell btw! I will definitely be back!

Yelp
Walked to this hoagie place and enjoyed a steak sandwich. It was made to order hot and fresh. Not my idea of a Phillie cheesesteak but def a good sandwich. Would like to taste one of their cold subs next time I visit. The store mainly serves to go orders but there are tables to sit and eat at. Several people did that ..mostly parties of 1 or 2.

Le G.

Yelp
I saw a IG poster that I follow talk about how good these hoagies are. I went to this location during lunch and ordered the Italian and a container of macaroni salad. Came back to work and bit in. Okay. Second bite...ugh. Something tastes offs so I thought it was the bread and took the meats out to eat. The prosciutto tasted off like spoiled. I threw it away and ate the capicola and salami. I was going to join their rewards program but I will just wait to see how my next visit goes.

Ciera O.

Yelp
Very good. The inside space is small with maybe 6 or so tables. They were all full when I stopped in, but it was the middle of the lunch rush, around 12:30. Many people were coming in for to-go orders as well. The service was quick despite the number of people coming in. I only had to wait maybe 5 minutes for my sandwich. The menu is large, but they clearly mark which is the most popular sandwich (The Italian, of course), and the cashier was kind to point out other favorites as well. I got the Mild Italian in the small size (6 inch) and had it with LTO, oil, vinegar, and mayo. It was so good! Bread was nice and soft, flavor was excellent, and the amount of meat was perfect. If you're in the mood for a good sandwich I recommend this place! Can't wait to come back and try different ones!

Yelp
I stumbled across this place from a foodie newsletter I get emailed to me and I am so glad I did. First, they have a good sized parking lot, which is not easy to find in there here parts. We walked in and were pleasantly greeted by the girl at the counter. She asked us if it was our first time and if we had any questions. I ordered the turkey diablo, and I am not sure what hubby ordered. We also got the brownies that are sitting there, begging to be eaten by the hungry beast that you are. I am happy to say, the sandwich and the brownie were so good!! I like that this place also has a cooler with cheese and desserts that you can get to go. I am looking forward to our next visit here. I think I am going to try the Soprano, but who knows, there are so many options here and you can modify pretty much any sandwich if you feel like doing so.

Hector C.

Yelp
Omg !! So good, amazing attention, the food was great , the place look clean, service was excellent, Tarek pay attention and recommend me a super good meal!!

Bradley L.

Yelp
Classic hoagie shop feel, very small, meant more for take out than sitting in. Only 3 small tables for 3-4 but would be cramped with more than 2. I got a a classic Italian, unsweet tea, and some jalapeño chips. Felt a little pricey but the Primo size was much bigger than expected. The associate at the counter had a hard time understanding me and me them which made ordering difficult. But the team was very kind and helpful in making suggestions and helping everyone I saw come in. The seeded bread on the Sandwich was close but not 100% what I expected from a hoagie. The crust just a little too tough. Overall delicious Italian. I'll probably go for a small next time.

Tyrone W.

Yelp
This place sucks. Sandwich was soggy and falling apart. Jersey Mikes blows this place out of the water!

Maria E.

Yelp
Primo, indeed! One of the best deli sandwiches I've had in a long time (I was pregnant for most of last year and couldn't eat deli meat but still). I ordered the Italian and it was perfect. Great bread, just enough spice from the hot capicola (aka gabagool), fresh and well-sliced lettuce and tomatoes, great amount of mayo/oil/vinegar. Just a terrific sandwich overall. My fiancé loved his Chicken Diablo as well. Scarfed it down while rewatching the Sopranos. TOP-NOTCH! Will be back, without a doubt.

Alysha H.

Yelp
The food was so yummy, have many choices for anyone. The service was really great- quick just what you want for a sandwich place. The ambiance was relaxed and practical'

Mitchell M.

Yelp
---Dearest Reader, I write with encouraging and enthusiastic news. Upon my travels to the district of Washington, I stumbled upon the finest of sandwich establishments (I believe King Earl would even be delighted). For real though, this was an on-line order, pre-rec league softball game meal...knew I wanted some substance but nothing too heavy. Their sandwich blew it out of the park. For starters, there is a very high likelihood that my sandwich was prepared on order and sat around for 30 minutes - whatever the case may have been, it didn't matter, their bread is amazing. It stands up to oil and vinegar without any (and I mean ANY) sort of sogginess. I don't think there is a sandwich you can go wrong with when there is a quality vessel like the bread that they've achieved. 10/10 Until next time, ---Mitchell

Kourtney H.

Yelp
Solid sub variation from my usual go to of jersey mikes. I'm a New York girl and am always looking for an authentic sub outside of the tri-state. Theirs was hearty with authentic cuts of meat. I look forward to trying more sandwiches.

China D.

Yelp
If you are from the north east and have been looking for a deli, THIS IS THE PLACE. My husband bought 3 sandwiches the first week this place opened. From the sesame seed bread to the stuffed peppers they sell, this place is legit. By far the best italian combo in the greater houston area. The cheesesteaks are very good too, not greasy at all and they have a lot of cheese options. All of their sandwiches are very customizable and you can get fixins on the side too. I love adding the sweet peppers to the cheesesteak. There are a few small tables inside but it seems like everything is mostly to go. They sell Herr's chips too! One of my favs from back home.

David Y.

Yelp
For those who don't know, a "hoagie" is a style of sandwich that hails from Philadelphia. It's similar to a submarine sandwich. For the best hoagies I've seen in Philly, there's a place at Reading Terminal Market that makes amazing ones. But we're in Houston! Where can we get one comparable to a genuine hoagie from Philly? You guessed it - PrimoHoagies! This location in the Heights is a bit far from my home near Cypress, but I was able to get an Italian hoagie delivered by UberEats and it was well worth the extra delivery fee! PrimoHoagies has at least one other location in the Houston area, near Magnolia, if I'm not mistaken. More good news is that apparently they're building a new location about two miles from my house now, so I'm excited!

Lynn L.

Yelp
I decided to grab a sandwich for dinner and wanted to try out a new place. Their menu is extensive and has lots of options. I settled on trying their Big T Diablo in a seeded roll Primo sized. I opted for no tomatoes or cheese and added hot peppers. My order came out in a timely manner, and the gentleman working cane out to confirm that I indeed, did not want cheese. The sandwich was nicely wrapped, tons of meat was inside. The bread was good, but once I got home I decided to toast it for a few minutes. I enjoyed the sesame seeds, the sandwich was nicely dressed, lots of toppings, although I didn't think the hot peppers were spicy it was a great sandwich overall. I want to return to try others.

Daryl K.

Yelp
Was looking forward to trying this place now that it had opened. As someone from up north, always looking for a good hoagie lol, and sometimes hard to find. I got the mild Italian and only the small size because I just wanted something quick to eat, and although I wasn't very hungry, in future visits may stick with the small. They are very generous with the amount of meat and toppings and the hoagie tasted very good and fresh. The only complaint would be I got it to go and the oil and vinaigrette soaked through the hoagie bread and a good portion was soggy by time I got home, but I only live like 5 minutes away. The people were friendly, you can tell it's a new place with new staff, opportunity to be a little faster as it seemed to be some kinks to work out as they prepared orders and time it took. Otherwise, look forward to getting back and trying some other variety of hoagies. Check them out

Yelp
As a native Philadelphian I'm always searching for a good Philly Cheesesteak. This came as close as I've gotten. Standard beef steak sandwich was very good, but a little salty. What raised the level was the authentic sesame seed roll. It was fresh and soft on the inside with a crispy, seeded crust. Another excellent surprise was the veggie hoagie. It was very authentic and tasty with breaded eggplant, roasted red peppers, sautéed broccoli rabe, and sharp provolone - yum! Ambience was in a new looking strip mall. The store was clean with a small sitting area. They appeared to be doing a brisk takeout business. The ladies behind the counter answered all of our questions and the sandwiches were delivered promptly. Managers checked in with us to inquire if we needed anything else. I would only love to see a larger and more comfortable place to sit. But such is the nature of a hoagie shop!

karen w.

Yelp
It was soggy, hard to eat because it kept falling apart and the bread was not fresh. Some items requested were not included. Won't return.

Nathanmacias20 ..

Yelp
I got the whacked chicken cutlet on a low carb wrap . It was great , the wrap did not ruin it ! Will be going back , not many places like this in Houston that genuinely taste like something you'd find up in the northeast or Chicago .

Tyler D.

Yelp
This place is a MUST. Staff is insanely friendly and food is extremely authentic and fresh. Don't miss this local gem!

Jamie B.

Yelp
This is one of the best hoagie /sub sandwich deli in HoU. It reminds me of delis in Chicago and NY. The veggie sub is delicious, flavorful and good quality. Make sure you eat it hot if not warm in the oven to have the spices, spread and veggies to merry. The Philly cheese steak w/grilled onions, add peppers is the best hoagie going. They even have a great potato chip selection to pair well with any sandwich you get. However I would not recommend the tuna

Brianna C.

Yelp
I got a spicy Turkey promo with lettuce, tomato, onion, oil, and mustard. I thought the sandwich was just okay. I'm not from the northeast so perhaps not in love with the bread/style. The cheese wasn't melted and just felt thick, but maybe I needed to request toasted. My total was $17 for the sandwich and a cookie which is more than I'd want to spend. I did really like a market-type of offering to purchase additional sides.

Tenia O.

Yelp
This was my 1st try of PrimoHoagies & was wondering if it was truly worth the hype. They came up in rotation via a delivery service at my office building. Figured why not give them a try. I went for the small Sharp Italian Hoagie. Ummmm....sorry there's no pic because I totally inhaled this sandwhich! LOL Yes, it really is that good. 1st thing I noticed was the sandwhich was wrapped very well. Doesn't seem like a big deal, but for delivery purposes it is. Poorly wrapped subs are like a saucy curry or pho broth getting delivered in a crapy styrofoam container. But as I unwrapped that tasty hoag, all I could smell was fresh bread, veggies & meat!! And even better the oil & vinegar I asked for!!! Like everything I ordered was actually on the sandwhich! Some may say it's up in cost but there's a legit reason. The meats are the real deal!! And they weren't skimpy with any of the toppings. Meat, cheese & veggies were plentiful. I could barely finish it & it was the small. I'm thinking about that salami & hot capicola as I type. The salami reminded me of a butcher that used to be close to my granny's waaay back in the day. He'd give the kids free pieces of cheese & salami. It was so so yummy. And the sharp provolone was provolone-ing!! This definitely won't be my last time trying Primo Hoagies. Interested in tring their other options. Give them a try if you haven't yet. Yelp on my friends!

Richy O.

Yelp
This place was amazing! Their sandwiches have so much flavor and are reasonably priced for the size and quality. The service was one of the best I've had in a while, the cashier taking our order was very nice and guided us and gave us samples to try out what we wanted to try out before we ordered. The inside of the restaurant is nice and all brand new, overall I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you're looking for a good sandwich.

Jennifer E.

Yelp
PrimoHoagies donated a sandwich tray to last night's HPD PIP meeting where I tried for first time. The sandwiches on sesame seed buns were delicious and everyone else agreed. If I'm to pick up sandwiches, this will the place. Hoping for a store to open near me in West Heights area.

Warren J.

Yelp
I just primo'd, and boy am I glad I did. I will no longer be supporting jimmyjasonfirequizway sandwich shops, because I found the winner. It is in a lil strip center on Washington Not far from my comic shop (so I'll be seeing you once or twice a week, my pretties). Plenty of parking around back. Five or six tables inside with sports on the telly, but mostly take out, it seems. They also have a cooler with pasta salads, bite size cheese, salami, stuffed peppers, Cole slaw, etc. ok, ok... to the sandwich! I built my own. Because I could. FRESH sesame seed loaded bread, chewy in the best of ways. So good. Hot sorpressata, hot capicola (spicy, not warm), prosciutto, sharp provolone, "long peppers" , which are roasted spicy peppers of some sort, I forgot to ask. Oil and balsamic vinegar. Whew! Also, they asked if I wanted onions, I said no, but they gave them to me anyway. Thank god! They were chopped, lightly grilled and delicious. (I also got pickles on the side, because you never know with pickles... and they were great, too!) It was spicy enough to warm your mouth, slow burn your lips, and make you very very happy. I got the primo size, snarfed half, and am saving the rest until I just can't stand it anymore (probably about 20min). Pictured is the second half, about 4 1/2 inches left, for a total of nine on the whole. Massive. I'm telling you, keeds, hie thee to Primo, you'll be spoiled for the rest. Laterdays, weekenders.

Sarah H.

Yelp
I picked up Primo for lunch and was disappointed after seeing so many 5 star reviews. The online system makes you create a login and it took over 30 min for the sandwiches to be ready, longer than the estimated time. The wait wouldn't have been an issue if the sandwich was good. The bread was hard and the sandwich lacked flavor. For the price, there are better options in Houston.

Mac C.

Yelp
Picture it: I eat my at-home lunch at 11:30. Flash forward it's 1:30, my boyfriend comes home with his sandwich and decides to take a post-golf shower. GUYS I ATE HIS WHOLE HOAGIE WHILE HE WAS SHOWERING. I WASNT EVEN HUNGRY. IT WAS ADDICTING. ITS BEYOND DELICIOUS. It's not even in my character to eat someone's food!!!!!! Go get these sandwiches. I now have to get him a new sandwich, whoops! But it's THAT good.

Matthew M.

Yelp
Stopped here for lunch and it was like I was back in Philly! Roll was perfect. Italian hoagie was awesome with vinegar and oil and banana peppers. Sure hope they keep growing, maybe out west in Katy???

David N.

Yelp
Quick review: Yes! Finally Houston has a decent hoagie! Try it! Long review / essay: I'm a PA native / TX transplant. Have been searching for good hoagies in Houston since 2017 and honestly haven't found any decent ones (outside of trying to build my own at Central Market, which gets close but their rolls aren't quite the same). My wife always laughs at me because it's a constant gripe of mine not being able to get a decent Italian sandwich here. Hoagies back home are a way of life, a meal you eat "at least" once a week, a routine item that kids sell for baseball fundraisers, something you grab for almost any occasion. It's just part of the culture there, and fits into life in a thousand ways. They're something I miss dearly, forever wired in my brain. I will say, I absolutely love the food in Houston but I've learned pizza and hoagies just aren't the thing here. No diggs on Houston, it's just there isn't the same history of Italian Americans here like there is back East. Obviously you're not going to get quality TX BBQ in PA, and seems the same is true for quality Italian-American here. Also, a good "hoagie" is very specifically tied to the PA/NJ region and there's just something special about how it's done there. The fresh and correctly proportioned roll, the specific selection of meats and cheese, the mandatory shredded lettuce with tomato and onions, the dousing of oil and vinegar. Side of sweet or hot peppers. Classic. Reminds me of a million happy memories. Sooooo- was super excited to read about Primos and decided to go in this afternoon. Good, solid Italian hoagie! Comparable to what you'd expect back in PA and didn't disappoint. Not the "best hoagie" I've ever had (it's a transplanted chain, after all, so it's not like Nonna is gonna be behind the register asking you about your cousin) but certainly the best hoagie I've had in Houston. I'll definitely be back to try the cheesesteaks. Now for the pizza issue ... let me know if anyone finds something comparable to a solid east coast slice! That's been another never ending search! Houston is a goldmine for amazing food, but so far I just haven't been able to get behind the pizza here.

Robyn M.

Yelp
Finally! A super tasty, fresh, and friendly sandwich spot in Houston! I've found it challenging to find a truly good sandwich in this town and Primo checks all the boxes. Sandwiches are made fresh (meat sliced on order), their menu is huge, including yummy sides and a wide variety of chips, and their service is top notch. We met the owner who was very kind, personable, helpful, and knowledgeable. I love the Turkey Diablo. I wasn't sure I'd like the sesame bread, but it is lovely. Highly recommend and we need more locations (West U!!).

Patsy R.

Yelp
Long hots are now reliably in stock at this location. And this is now the best place to get an Italian sandwich anywhere outside of Philly. Highest quality meats, cheeses, veggies, oils, spices, and their flipping bread is completely addictive. There is no better sandwich on the planet. Nonna's Veggie Diablo and the Sharp Italian cannot be beat. Service is always so friendly and accommodating, and the space is small and busy but the line moves quickly. There's a few small tables to eat inside. The very best sandwich in the universe.

Nik L.

Yelp
So glad Primos is finally in Texas. Same quality, awesome sandwiches. Best hoagies in Texas hands down.

Kerry C.

Yelp
Incredible. When it comes to sandwiches, there's good (Firehouse subs), better (Potbelly) and then there's PrimoHoagies -- the best. The new owner of this franchise store on Washington Avenue is out to be the better best.

Ashley M.

Yelp
This is the best spot for a hoagie (cold sandwich). I have been a few times and the sandwiches are always great and so is the service. I had the Audie (Turkey and beef) and it was super good. We will be coming back when our hoagie cravings hit.

Ted F.

Yelp
Five stars for the food, two stars for the order accuracy. Ordered four sandwiches from here, and they got one order right, one minor mistake on another, and two badly wrong (one of which was fixed in store, the other was delivered, so I was out of luck). Look forward to them getting the bugs out of the system, because the five stars for the food is for real. These are the best Italian sandwiches in Houston. Best bread, best ingredients, ingredients not available at other sandwich shops. Might be the best cheesesteaks, too, but I ordered with onions and whiz, and got neither (despite paying extra). I fear the problem is that with over four dozen different sandwiches, each of which has hundreds of possible combos from dozens of ingredients, plus design-your-own-sandwich, this is much more cognitively complex than the typical fast-casual, and you need to screen and train employees more carefully than they're doing. Don't know what they're paying, they might be losing the good employees to Chik-fil-A. Ambiance a bit lacking. Only three tables, and they serve Pepsi bottles, no Coke, and the subpar Herr's potato chips. Have to squeeze past tables to get to garbage can. Parking a bit annoying when next door Cookshack is hopping. Doordash delivery drivers kept waiting for sandwiches to be finished being made. The regular Italian sandwiches are very heavy on capicola. Wish I liked capicola more; I like it as an accent, but here it overwhelms everything else on the sandwich. So I special order now. Don't take my complaints wrong: I will be getting my salami and prosciutto and provolone and sweet peppers for as long as they're open, though less often than I'd like if I can't rely on delivery orders to be correct and have to shlep to physically pick up the sandwich. Again, best sandwiches in Houston, and not much worse than the best sandwich shops on the East Coast. Hope I can upgrade to five stars soon.

Yelp
Searching out the best cheesesteak in Houston, look no further. Serves authentic east-coast style sandwiches built on the foundation of an incredible hoagie roll. In addition to the cheesesteak, highly recommend the sharp Italian w/ oil and vinegar. Owner is a great guy and who really enjoys connecting with customers.

Yelp
Friendly service and incredible sandwich in a city that is not known for sandwiches. I ordered a Turkey Diablo but I was given an Italian Diablo. It's not what I ordered but it was delicious nonetheless. Will definitely go back to try the Turkey Diablo next time. I love spicy food and this sandwich had the perfect amount of spice. Bread is flavorful and chewy. I've had hoagies in Philly (the home of the hoagie) and I think this one is just as good as what I've had in Philly. Will absolutely return.

Yelp
This is the real deal. I am a NJ native and have been to the original Primo's (Pal Joey's) multiple times. The quality of the food and authenticity is unbelievable. If you know what these sandwiches are supposed to taste like you won't be disappointed. If you are new to true Italian sandwiches , you will be a life long customer! I had the Pork Rapini( Roast Pork) with sharp provolone and roasted peppers. It was amazing. My daughter had the chicken Parm and loved it. Thank you Vincent. We will be back!

Yelp
Great hoagies! Friendly staff with good recommendations. Need more locations in Houston.

Yelp
My husband and I both loved our sandwiches. I feel like they were really generous with the prosciutto portions on mine (I think it was called the suprima?) and the perfect amount of roasted red pepper. My husband got the chicken parm one and is already asking when we'll go back. Had never had Herr's brand chips before but they were really yummy too. Definitely worth checking out, a league above so many of the other Houston sandwich options.

Yelp
Service was very kind and the ambiance was like most sandwich shops! I feel like the sandwiches were just lacking in terms of flavor - might go back and try something else but not sold after trying the Italian.

Yelp
The hoagies here are always so delicious and flavorful! The bread is so soft and the oil is great to dip the hoagie in.

Yelp
Ordered a corned beef and Swiss and they sent me a schwartzie or whatever with Russian dressing and slaw or something. Thanks, primos.

Yelp
Nice staff, seems like it could be good, but I had the cheesesteak... go to papa genos for that. This cheesesteak is not hot and has too much bread that is not as soft as it should be as a good Philly has. Unfortunate because a sandwich and water cost $20...
