New Orleans’s Congregation Coffee Roasters Has Officially Returned | Eater New Orleans

"I noticed a new PrimoHoagies has opened at 8228 Oak Street, bringing the 30-year-old, Philadelphia-born sandwich chain—now with more than 100 locations nationwide—to New Orleans. Open daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., the shop, opened by Tulane graduate and local resident William Kulick, serves classic Italian-style hoagies, Philly cheesesteaks, and hot meatball sandwiches." - Clair Lorell

A great affordable alternative to Francolinis if you’re craving a giant Italian sub/hoagie/grinder. You get more food per dollar and the sandwiches are really good. Plus, sometimes they have Dirt in the dessert section of the cooler. I hope this place sticks around. Better than the sandwich place across the street, too!

Visited PrimoHoagies on yesterday in New Orleans. I had and shared the Philly Cheesesteak Bowl w/ Pepper Jack Cheese and Onions. It was delicious; however, the added Red Peppers to my surprise was spicier than I anticipated, nonetheless still very delicious. Wish I had taken a before picture because after 30 minutes of travel, as expected it had wilted down some, but it was still warm as requested. I truly enjoyed it and had some leftover. PrimoHoagies was a pleasant experience. In addition to the variety of Hoagies & Bowls there were multiple sides items, as well as Chips and Desserts. The employee was professional, polite and efficient. He greeted each customer that entered. The establishment was clean and cool. I like the fact that you can actually see them as they prepare your foods. All fresh ingredients used. Would highly recommend and visit again. Thank you!

The food was okay , pretty good actually but it wasn't until whey i ordered they told me they were missing a key ingredient. Then while eating( 2 bites in ) the guy said they're closing the lobby in 3 minutes. I work in a restaurant and the vibe was night and day from what we provide. Hospitality 0/10

UPDATE: the district manager reached out, she was very kind and accommodating and corrected the issue immediately. Very appreciative! This place needs to be shut down on customer service alone!!!! I ordered 3 sandwiches through DoorDash only recieved 2. Called primo, they hung up at first then they told my husband to come up and fight him! Over a sandwich!!! Because they wouldn’t correct it. The manager screamed at us, over us asking it to be corrected. We will never order from here again!!!!

This beauty is the (primo size) Buffalo Chicken Cheesesteak with everything except mayonnaise. I'm not sure if it comes with it, but I got hot cheddar instead of regular cheddar, thanks to a little taste test provided by the super-friendly person who made my sandwich. The chicken has so much flavor. It's spicy and woody with just a hint of char, which I love but may not be everyone's cup of tea. The bread is wheat and toasted a little too long for my liking, but it is still very delicious. Its proximity to the levee walking path and Audubon Zoo makes it a cool little spot to visit when you need a break from the sun and the fun of Oak Street.

Small sandwich shop with big taste. Good food and decent prices. The quality of the food is great. Their customer service was excellent. We will definitely go back again.

In a town of sandwiches, it’s hard to say that this really stands out as anything special, but it wasn’t bad either. The bread was the best part of my sandwich, texture and flavors were spot on. Kitchen looked clean, tables in the dining area were wiped down. Shy staff that mumbled my order total to me, but they got the job done. Didn’t think there was the amount of meats / trinkets in my sandwich that there should be but I’m not going to argue with food costs everywhere are going up. Dining room was giving Subway circa 2005. Overall, for upwards of twenty dollars (including tip), I can’t say I’ll be back for an overall mid Italian deli sandwich, but I hope for the best. At least they renovated the space, kinda nice of them.

Place is crazy expensive for sub par food. Got a Philly cheesteak and it was amazingly cold. The meat was barely warm. I'm surprised the cheese melted. It is a lot of sandwich but still pricey

Yelp
So many options to choose from, I decided to go with a basic and the classic Italian being it was my first time. If they couldn't get the basics done right...heaven help them! And guess what...the sandwich brought me right back home to Jersey!! The size small doesn't come with seeded roll so had to upgrade to the Primo. The seeded bread is a MUST! The bread is tasty - crisp on outside and soft on inside. The sandwich comes with meat and cheese and you have to add everything else. I added onions, lettuce, tomatoes, spicy pepper, oregano/black pepper seasoning, spicy mustard and of course, oil/vinegar. I got my sandwich to go and walked to Oak Brewery and had a beer. The sandwich had the correct ratio of meat to toppings and bread. Tasty too. I was surprised that they don't have small bag of chips - only large bags and well with the menu being so overwhelming, I could only concentrate on my sandwich and not the accoutrements. So I just got my sandwich. I asked if their roast beef was hot or cold...and if you a Yankee, you know that the roast beef is always cold...which is what they serve here. So don't go in there looking for a southern roast beef with it all hot and melted cheese. Will definitely be back and will order delivery as well! Thank you for bringing a piece of home down here to us. Thinking your sandwich beats out Francollinis on Tchoup.

Yelp
Staff is very friendly and welcoming, food is freshly made, and the sandwiches are huge! Get the dirt pudding for dessert, you will not regret it!

Yelp
This is a nice addition to sandwich shops uptown. Somewhere between subway and a high end sub shop. Great expansive menu with fun add ons and a unique selection of side salads and extras. The service is reasonably quick but ordering ahead is recommended. I've enjoyed the Diablo and a few others so far. The bread is definitely the selling point. Easy access location and a nice clean space with enough seating for a few small groups. Look forward to trying more sandwiches.

Yelp
Loved the roasted pork hoagies here. The cheese steak not so much. However, the business changed hands, shut down operations for a week, and then relaunched without carrying over their previous staff. Just based on the treatment of these employees, I wouldn't eat here again. Very disappointing look for their brand.

Yelp
Wasted a trip here. Expected authentic Philadelphia style grinders and hoagies because that's what they've been advertising. What I found was a lower brow (if that's possible) version of Subway with fewer options, lower quality ingredients, and nothing the slightest bit authentic. They have a "Philly cheesesteak" on the menu, but when you try to order, you find out it's only meat and cheese. No onions. No peppers. No cheese melted into it. Just some pre-portioned "steak" heated up with slices of cheese. You can add "fried onions" as a topping but the only peppers they have are pickled ones "out of a jar". Oh well. Another culinary fraud parading as authentic regional cuisine comes to New Orleans. I wonder what'll be in that building in six months?

Yelp
Best hoagies in the city hands down!!! If you're looking for authentic Philly style hoagies this is the place to go. As a person that was born and raised in Philly, I will die on this hill. They use the exact same style of rolls that I grew up enjoying, which is where a lot of other hoagie shops falls short. The cuts are delicious, and the service and staff is exceptional and will go above and beyond to meet your expectations. The cherry on top... you don't have to wait an excruciatingly long time for them to make your order (can't say the same about some of those other places in the city). Anyone who thinks otherwise has never had a real Philly hoagie before. Also, in response to the review someone had written about their cheesesteak only coming with steak and cheese...that's how it's actually done in Philly. You can get cheesesteaks with or without onions, sometimes peppers. But all the versions you see at other shops that come with those extras already on it aren't authentic Philly cheesesteaks. Additionally, I'd like to recommend anyone to anyone looking to order a cheesesteak to consider getting it with whiz! You won't regret it!

Yelp
I've waited 10 years in Nola for this!! I am thrilled it's now open. The employees are so kind, the food is just as I remembered from growing up in Jersey. Definitely check this spot out. Such a great and easy way to order food for a tailgate, party, or just a game day at home. I recommend the Italian (traditional) as well as Turkey & cheese as that was a staple for me growing up. For a kick, check out the Bada-Boom (chicken cutlet topped with cheese and long hot peppers). Don't forget about the hoagie trays as they are gorgeous! Make sure to add some sides before checking out. Can't rave about Primos enough!!

Yelp
Complete order wrong ... only 3 items (@40$ mind you) and didn't get one tho g correct... you call for clarification & it sounds like a bunch of children working & no one can give a solution ...

Yelp
Food is awesome so far every sandwich I've eaten is good, and the bread that they have on there sandwiches is something special

Stephanie F.

Yelp
Don't waste your time or money! Go to Francolini's! It's down the road and way worth it!!!!

Erick F.

Yelp
Went here after a coworker from Philly approved it as the closest thing to authentic in the city, there's another place in town that's from Jersey and was underwhelmed after all the hype and waiting for half an hour for an Italian hoagie, not here though quick service and tasty hoagies. The Abruzzi is my favorite.

Yelp
Order a chicken parm and it was made with hot sauce, not marinara. Its a week later and the other half is still in my fridge. I called as soon as i got home and started eating it and they didnt even try and rectify it. Eat Local...not chains!

Ryan K.

Yelp
Great sandwiches. Fresh bread and way better quality meats than your normal chain sandwich shops. The Italian, roast beef, and eggplant veggie subs were all superb. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Yo, first off this isnt a "true" philly spot. I ordered a classic philly wit whiz, and it had 3oz of steak on it. All breaad. The steak isnt ribeye, so fat content isnt there that makes it legit. I feel ripped off, and the flavor wasnt even close. Liberty cheesesteaks was much better than this place!
