It’s filled with velvet furniture and paintings that look like they belong on the 5th floor of MoMA, but it’s not filled with people exclusively in suits, and there’s always good music that doesn’t get too loud. "Despite its location off the lobby of the upscale Frederick Hotel, Primos is actually pretty laid-back. The bar room up front looks like a set from The Life Aquatic—with conch shell lights, velvet furniture, and servers in matching red jackets—and there's a room in the back with a big dance floor. "Primo’s is a good-looking cocktail bar inside a hotel in Tribeca, but it’s still casual enough that you wouldn’t feel out of place wearing jeans and a T-shirt. "You could walk by Primo’s several thousand times and never realize it was there. And that’s part of why we like this place. It’s a semi-hidden cocktail bar in Tribeca filled with modernist paintings and colorful velvet furniture, and it’s a good spot for when you need to impress someone who might one day leave a toothbrush at your apartment. "Since it opened in 2018, Primo’s has been a highly underrated spot to grab a well-made cocktail, listen to good music, and take in a scene without having to deal with a huge crowd. The Tribeca bar, with its chrome accents and velvet furniture, has a sort of Art-Deco-hotel-lobby-in-Milan thing going, and it’s the rare downtown establishment where you can pop in on a weekend and plausibly find an open seat.
