"The original Primrose Bakery was born over a decade ago (there are multiple locations), mainly because the owners wanted to make cupcakes, which were already killing it overseas, available in London. Over the years, The assortment has expanded to include classic chocolate cake (it's the moistest, richest, most perfect thing ever) and a menu of made-to-order layer cakes, which can be decorated any way you like."

I found the place on Google on my walk at Primrose Hill. There is no price list anywhere about the cupcakes, bit weird. I decided to try the snickers one. Chocolate cupcake filled generously with caramel, peanut butter flavoured buttercream and a 1/3 snickers bar. I was actually happy with my cupcake and it has exceeded my expectations. 4* because It would be lovely to sit down other than the outside table in 2°C. It would have been lovely not to freeze my hand while trying to have a bite outside. I also bought a hot chocolate I didn't like that much.

Google
We ordered a vegan chocolate cake for our wedding and this is hands down the best cake I have EVER had, I’ve never seen a cake disappear so quickly. It was also absolutely beautiful and communication was perfect setting it up, thank you Primrose bakery team, from a very happy bride!!

I recently ordered a bento/lunchbox cake from Primrose Bakery and I was really impressed! Even though it was a style they don’t usually do, they nailed it. On top of that, it was a very last minute order. The cake looked amazing, with vibrant colors and great attention to detail. The taste was just as good as the appearance—moist, flavorful, and perfectly sweet. My husband loved it! The team was friendly and dedicated to making my order special. I highly recommend if you’re looking for a creative and delicious cake. I can’t wait to order from them again!

I visited this establishment because I saw a TikTok recommending it. I had high expectations for the cupcake flavor as they are visibly very pretty, nevertheless, the taste was mid, too sweet and nothing else to it. I chose the red velvet cupcake thinking the frosting would be cream cheese based (as it usually is for red velvet), but was disappointed to find out it was just plain buttercream. Also, the prices (at least for the cupcakes) aren’t listed anywhere and the staff is a bit cold when interacting with customers, sort of rushing their selection. There isn’t a place to sit down and eat what you buy, except for maybe a bench-type seat in the entrance that blocks the area where the personnel pass by, making you have to get up whenever someone needs to cross.

One Star for Effort – The Rest for the Sugar Coma !!!!!!!! Ordered a cake for my boyfriend’s birthday, hoping for something sweet and special. What we got instead was a sugar avalanche disguised as dessert. Honestly, if I’d wanted to give everyone diabetes for his birthday, this would’ve been perfect. Texture? Questionable. Flavor? Mostly just sugar with a vague memory of cake. Guest reactions? Let’s just say no one reached for seconds — or even finished their first bite. I’m not saying it was inedible… but I’ve had more nuanced flavor experiences chewing on birthday candles. *DO NOT RECOMMEND*

Have been going here for birthday cakes for past 3 years now. Really wonderful cake! I contacted Primrose Bakery by WhatsApp and they quickly gave a quote and a design which no one bakery seemed to do! Beautifully decorated and lovely and fresh too. Can’t recommend enough.

Google
Primrose Bakery is a delightful spot nestled in the heart of Primrose Hill. The ambiance is charming, with a cozy and inviting atmosphere that transports you to a vintage English tearoom. The cupcakes are the star here—moist, flavorful, and topped with just the right amount of frosting. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, offering a range of delicious treats. It's the perfect place to indulge in quality baked goods and enjoy a relaxing moment with friends or a quiet cup of coffee.

Google
Compact, cute cupcake bakery with a wide choice of flavours. No room inside to eat your purchase, but they do have a bench outside. They also make celebration cakes, which you can pre-order. If you fancy something sweet in the afternoon, pop in for a cupcake and you'll be happy for the rest of the day.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious cupcakes! Moist, flavorful cakes, with rich, velvety buttercream. The variety available was excellent. Something for everyone. My husband got a mocha, I got rose, and my son got cookie dough. All were exceptional. Perfectly baked, not overly sweet, luscious and beautifully decorated. They were so good, we each got another to take back to our hotel. Those were chocolate, cinnamon and another rose (yes, it was that good!) The bakery also has lovely decor, friendly staff, and a charming location.

Yelp
I'm always excited to see what flavours primrose bakery has in store for me. From their boozy cocktail cupcakes to their chocolate bar inspired creations, there's always one flavour I'm dying to try. And this time it was apple crumble. Tiny Apple chunks baked into a cinnamon apple cake, topped with apple icing and a sprinkle of crumble, it was everything I hoped it would be. Sit in with a cup of tea or coffee or take out and have a mini picnic in the nearby primrose park, this place always delivers a perfect treat.

Yelp
Gorgeous little place in lovely primrose. The interior decor is done to perfection, with a delightful choice of cakes and cupcakes, including vegan options for the lactose intolerant or those vegan-inclined. As a chai latte fanatic, I opted for the original chai cupcake, which did not disappoint. Just the right blend of icing (which is to say: not too much icing) and the perfect chai taste, but this time in cupcake form. Opted for take away myself, but this place would be lovely to sit in as well as it's oozing with charm. There's something to be said for the service as well. The woman at the till was very friendly and lovely. I'd definitely pop round again if I find myself in the neighbourhood.

Yelp
It's a dorbs bakery that you should visit if you're in Primrose hill simply because it's a Primrose Hill gem. Is it the best cupcake and coffee I've ever had? Not in a long shot. But it's cute and if you want a sweet little scene, pop on in. Is it weird that I find that perfect swirl of icing on top of each cupcake strangely satisfying? Look out for it next time. It's there.

Yelp
A very sweet little place great for stopping in for a treat and spot of tea or bigger orders to go. Small on the inside, with a few seats and display case. I had a lemon tart. It was decently good. I didn't have any of the cake but it all looked fun and that's part of the charm. It did get a little crowded but it was endearing to watch children smile and laugh with joy over a mini cupcake. Definitely a place to try out, I would go again.

Yelp
This cute little bakery is so darling it should be illegal. The bestie and I grabbed some vanilla based cupcakes to walk around London in our hands. Decent prices and good customer service.

Yelp
The homey feel of this place is what makes it so special. It's a little like popping into your best friend's kitchen... a best friend who always has the kettle on and a fresh baked cake under a glass dome and hot buttered toast ready and waiting - only it just so happens that the whole neighborhood is also friends with your good friend... and sooner or later the whole lot of you all end up assembled at her place - basking in the hospitality of her cozy kitchen. Yes, it's exactly like that. Without experiencing it yourself it's a little hard to convey the level of coziness and warmth and familiarity that is Primrose Bakery. Sure, the cupcakes they're known for are delightfully rich and buttery (definitely order one!) But there are a lot of cupcakes out there, but hardly any places where the people in front of and behind the counter are so well-acquainted they almost seem interchangeable. Where spread among a mere three tables you have a commotion of small children, mums gossiping, and a group of young teen girls splitting a slice of Victoria sponge cake while flipping through one of the many magazines plucked from the wall rack behind them. I suppose this all might sound like a bit of a ruckus - which is normally not my speed, but somehow, you really don't mind, since you sort of feel at right home in the scene of this delightful, all-too-rare, gem of an establishment.

Yelp
I admit to being captivated by this shop on Instagram (all those tantalizing posts of things like Toblerone cupcakes...), and finally had a chance to visit. Whoever does their fun and tempting marketing deserves a handshake! You walk in and immediately get a whiff of butter and sugar baking away. The lemon cupcake was absolutely scrumptious and so pleasingly tart, but I did find the cake part to be a bit dry. Another takeaway cupcake had the same dryness. Not enough to prevent me from returning, but just something I noticed.

Yelp
I only actually stubbled across Primrose Bakery after strolling casually around Primrose Hill one day. It is tucked away in a quiet street quite far off from any over crowded area. This lovely petite bakery is like something out of a children's book, all pastel coloured, playful and innocent. The founders of Primrose Bakery had initially started baking for children's parties, and then the business just grew from there as they began to supply for big, well known chains and famous celebs. The idea of what they produce is sticking to good old fashioned methods of cooking and using organic ingredients. So, I was inevitably extremely enticed when I saw the front of this shop. I just couldn't resist and even though I didn't have time to sit and actually enjoy the quaint surroundings, I had to purchase at least a couple of their creamy cupcakes. You can have either the normal sized ones for £1.75 or mini ones for £1.15. The mini ones are just too cute. Aside from cupcakes they do a simple, but delicious selection of cakes: chocolate, lemon, coffee and walnut, vanilla and Victoria sponge. It's delightful, it's delicious, it's de-lovely!

Yelp
I couldn't have find a better place to enjoy cupcakes, before going to work it has been a great help to well start my day all along my time in Camden. I highly recommend this place to everyone who like sweeties. Agreeable staff as well to complete that nice place.

Yelp
I randomly stumbled upon this cute and charming cafe, from the looks of it...they specialise in cakes and cupcakes. They have theme days for their particular goodies. I'm glad I came in on a Monday, it's cookies n cream day! The cookie n cream cake is so lush. The mocha is lovely. They got a nice but small selection of party supplies too.

Yelp
A small bakery away from the main row of shops of Primrose Hill. It's busy, popular with young families. It's on the other side of the railway lines from Camden Town main, so benefits from some peace and quiet. The easiest way to get there from the markets is to walk down the canal from the food market and take the second exit after the railway bridge. Cupcakes are great, especially when coupled with the check-in offer here. Fun flavours, the chocolate cheesecake cupcake went down well, but my favourite was the apple crumble cupcake, almost crumb cake in texture, with crumble bits on the top to complement the spiced apple flavour of the cupcake body. The inside of the bakery is quite small with only a couple of tables and there's a bench to sit outside on, but we were buying takeaway anyway as we wanted to eat by the side of the canal. Staff were friendly and helpful, and I think they're the best place nearby to get cupcakes (at least if I haven't made any already!)

Yelp
Super-cute bakery in Primrose Hill (of course!), just a short walk from Chalk Farm tube station. It never ceases to amaze me how close the quiet, quaint village-like Primrose Hill is to the bustling Camden scene. Typically for 10:30am on a Monday there were a few yummy mummies already here having a cup of coffee and a natter while their offspring had baby cappuccinos (I kid you not, I think it was called a baby-cino or something and looked like a really small cappuccino although I think it was probably hot chocolate or something). I had a pot of tea which was served with a smile in a china teapot. The cakes looked and smelt delicious and came highly recommended by my companion, however it was a little early for me so I resisted temptation on this occasion. Perhaps next time I'm in the area my willpower might not be as strong! A pot of tea and a coffee came in at just over £4 - bargain! As well as being a cafe they sell lots of little knick-knacks such as greetings cards, wrapping paper (I particularly liked one with a doughnut design on it) and cookbooks including Primrose Bakery's very own book. The bakery also caters for parties, weddings etc. with their beautiful cakes. I'll definitely have to indulge next time... all in the name of research!

Yelp
I came across Primrose Bakery while doing a Google search for bakeries that do special order birthday cakes near Islington. Not exactly close, but... I was extremely pleased with the service I received. I placed my order very last minute by emailing at 9:30 PM on a Sunday night. An employee called me Monday morning and my cake was ready by 2:30 PM that day. It turned out beautifully; my flatmate, whose birthday it was, was very happy with it, and it tasted great too. It was packaged perfectly: even after being bumped into a few times during tube rush hour it was unscathed. One thing to reflect on is that I wasn't offered a carrying bag...I brought a reusable Sainsbury's bag with me just in case, but the cake wouldn't fit in there. Luckily a very kind young woman gave me a canvas shopping bag of hers that the cake fit in. So if you are going to the bakery to pick up a large order, definitely bring your own bags, maybe two or three that are different sizes to make sure the boxed product actually fits. The website says the bakery delivers but I wasn't offered this option, perhaps due to the lateness of my order or the fact that I don't exactly live near Camden. My only reason for not giving Primrose Bakery 5 stars is the price. For the smallest double-layer chocolate cake, I paid 30 pounds. I think the price-shock might have something to do with the fact that I am American and a cake like this would have cost $25 at home; with the exchange rate, the cake from Primrose Bakery was edging $50. Granted it was beautifully decorated and thick, so we were quite able to get by on smaller slices and fed more people that way. I would definitely use Primrose for future events, but only if I were splitting the cost with others. Like I said, I only went to Primrose to pick up the cake, but I had time to admire the decor and atmosphere while I queued. Located on a quiet street and easily recognizable on the outside by its unique logo and sheet glass windows. It smells great inside (as it should) and the decor is warm, inviting, and whimsical. The bakery is fairly small and has a few tables and chairs for patrons to sit at. Lots of fun, non-edible products for sale, including invitations and an assortment of birthday candles, perfect if you only want to make one stop or forgot to pick some up. The employees were friendly.

Yelp
I had a good cupcake (green tea). Staff is friendly and does a great job. However, £3.25 for a take-away cupcake is a little bit pricey (I think £3.90 for eat-in). I would say 3.5 stars.

Yelp
We made visiting this a Saturday afternoon stroll alongside the canals from Maida Vale. A pretty walk basically all the way to Primrose Bakery. Would I do the effort for the cupcakes - no not really. I mean creative flavour combinations and great looking cupcakes but not from a taste perspective. We choose two different flavours and both where blend and the actually cake was dry - So glad we ordered coffee with it. Our quest to find great cupcakes in London has not been satisfied yet.

Yelp
Damn.... Fine.... Cupcakes..... ...need I say more. Go forth and obtain your suger rush....Nirvana is but two or three or four bites away.

Yelp
Decent cupcakes but not the best. Sponge is slightly dry and icing is average. It's nice that they have a vegan option as not many places cater for them. Would go again if i was in the area, not worth coming back otherwise

Yelp
Really tasty cupcake! I got the coffee and walnut cupcake, cost £1.95 for take away. Overall it was really good. I actually want to go back and get another, seeing as how it's just down the street. For me it was just the right amount of sweetness. The cake part wasn't really as sweet as I expected. The texture was in between muffin and cupcake but still moist. The frosting was super yummy. May be too sweet for some people, but I really liked it. They balances each other out well.

Yelp
Finally I've found a decent chocolate cupcake! Unfortunately it's taken me 6 places to find one that gets the Nicole Antonia stamp of approval, but it's all worth the effort. Where other cupcake places get it all wrong, with the icing being too sweet and the cake being too dry, Primrose Bakery succeeds in creating a moist cupcake that isn't too sweet and is nicely chocolatey. And at the cheapest I've found at £1.85 for the basic cakes, I've found a keeper :) The place itself is nice, and has some old charm to it. I went today and it was WAY too hot in there though, even though it was a pleasant, if only slightly chilly, day. I was dying to get out! They need to get some fans in there. The staff were very helpful and I decided to go for 2 cupcakes instead of just 1. So I also bought a Pecan Maple cupcake, and that was also pretty good. A bit too sweet for my taste but if you're a big pecan person, you'd probably really like it. The search is still on for the BEST cupcake in London, but this is the best I've found so far!

Yelp
My daughter lives in Primrose Hill and this bakery is just up the street from her. Needless to say when I visit her I always make sure and buy their cupcakes, when it's her birthday I order the cupcakes to be delivered to her or her partner picks them up for me and I gotta' say the cupcakes are delicious! Besides the bakery itself is something out of a fairy tale!

Yelp
I can't say I am the biggest cupcake fan, but this little bakery is so sweet you just have to come in. It takes you back to your childhood when cupcakes were a regular occurrence, as adults we rarely see a cupcake. There is something so sweet and decadent at the same time about a cupcake that just makes you have to eat one. This bakery is extra great because they understand the importance of soy coffee. Its a lovely place to sit and catch up with your mom or a girlfriend. After school time can be a little annoying if you don't like children, but mostly this is a very peaceful bakery where you can order cupcakes for a special occasion or enjoy the space as a cafe and eat your cupcake there.

Yelp
Such an adorable cake shop! Primrose Bakery is a sweet boutique that feels like an old fashion soda shop. They have so many cake options with something to suit any taste. While it's a little on the pricey side, it's worth it for a special treat.

Yelp
Oh my gosh!!!! If only I had had a cake shop round the corner from me when I was a child there are often yummy mummy's treating their little ones to a splendidly delicious cake. I love all the flavour's and the fact that you can go in by yourself, have a cup of tea watch the world go by and feel like a princes in the process. I love this shop and all of its cakes!

Yelp
It's like stepping into my childish mind - everything is pink and lemon, there are gift cards, small presents, cups o tea, lollies and most importantly CAKE. Lots of it, every changing varieties and small and big ones. YAY. A lovely respite from the frantic Camden crush, this small tea shop, serving lovely cupcakes amongst other treats is a must do with girlfriends or out of towners. There are a few seats around big 70s tables, but a short walk to the top of Primrose Hill will be worth the effort, especially with a big sugar boost when you get to the top! Their jam slice is the best I've found since leaving convict shores, and the mashmallow cupcakes are to be tried if they are available when visiting! Enjoy! x

Yelp
Walked to this bakery today because I heard they had delicious cupcakes. Boy was I DISAPPOINTED!! I ordered a half dozen to take home to my kids to surprise them after school on Friday afternoon. They were HORRIBLE. Not fresh at all. They were dry and tasteless. Definitely not made fresh. My kids said the cupcakes at Tesco taste better! We were so disappointed. We will never go back. Yuck. Go to hummingbird bakery. I have never had more delicious cake! This doesn't come close.

Yelp
When I was planning my recent birthday celebration a friend suggested I order my birthday cake from the Primrose Bakery because she told me they were reputed to have the best cupcakes in London. I admit I hadn't heard of the place (having not lived in London for quite some time) but I trusted my friend and gave them a ring from across the pond. I told them what I wanted, how I would like the cake decorated and where it needed to be delivered. I was absolutely delighted when I saw my cake for the first time last Saturday evening just one hour before my guests were due to arrive a the restaurant I had hired out for the occasion. My guests were also very pleasantly surprised. The cake was so beautiful and tasted delicious. There wasn't much left over by the end of the night but whatever was left was soon distributed to those who were the last to leave in the early hours of the morning. I took an extra (large) slice home but didn't get to eat it until two days later when it still tasted just as fresh and delicious. Would definitely recommend this bakery to anyone celebrating a special occasion. They did not disappoint at all. Thank you for a wonderfully delightful and enchanting birthday cake. Anne Marie

Yelp
Even though cupcakes are the current trendy treat it's nice that this bakery hasn't lost sight of what they're selling. Though very much a family friendly place, you'll often see adults at the table with a slice of cake and a cup of tea, reading a book or chatting with friends. It's nice and quiet, and not at all pretentious. And though they supply Fortnum and Mason, the cupcakes are still relatively inexpensive, or at least no more expensive than their equally posh competitors. They also have a good variety of flavours and the occasional specialty, and a victoria sponge that could reduce you to tears.

Qype User (sienna…)

Yelp
This is such a cute little place... The interior is vintage, and features a till, three tables and a shelf with sweets, books (their own recipe book) and some decorating stuff. I like the cupcakes, too, especially the pink marshmellow cupcake - yum! I had coffee there a few times and it was good, strong coffee - yum again! I have to say, though, that the place is too small to really have a chilled time there... it gets horribly busy on the weekends, so that you often cannot get a seat (which is a shame as it is a bit out of the way) and it can also get hot and not so comfortable when it is busy. Therefore I only give three stars... as when I go to a cafe I want to have a good time, be able to read my magazine or have a chat.

Yelp
The cakes here are better than Grandma's. I have to be seriously strict with myself whenever I visit this place as the smell is intoxicationg and I find it very easy to over indulge and then regret it . There's a cute touch here in that they sell pretty birthday cards, sweeties and trinkets . I bought a friend a bag of old skool sweeties which hse loved as they brought back memories of her school days !

Yelp
I just tried one of cupcakes from there (the chocolate one). INCREDIBLE!!! I've never been there physically but plan to visit.

Yelp
Lovely bakery if you're in the local area. I think that whenever I go there, I get enlightened by the positiveness and it just sets my mood for the day. Wow, that sounded quite poetic but it really is that way :) I love all the cakes and I don't think if I could ever stop visiting. Also, I don't seem to be getting any extra weight, so it's all good.

Yelp
I live in Camden and wandered down to Primrose Hill specifically to try the cupcakes from here after a friend used the Primrose Hill bakery cookbook to make some incredible caramel icing. As soon as you enter you realise you are in for a treat - it is bustling with happy people, smells utterly amazing and has a very homely feel. We had to queue a little but once getting to the front we couldn't resist getting 4 cupcakes and a very generous slice of cake - all coming to £10. We thought this was very reasonable considering you can get sub-par cakes at Starbucks for a higher price. I have to disagree with the review saying the cakes aren't good quality - certainly the ones we had were delicious, especially the dense, fudgey chocolate cake. I can also recommend taking the short walk to Primrose Hill and eating them there - makes for a perfect Sunday afternoon!
