A fantastic experience — a bar with real soul. This place truly stands out — the kind of bar we rarely come across in France. It’s got character, a vibrant British vibe, great beer, and affordable prices. What more could you ask for? There’s something authentic about the atmosphere — unpretentious, lively, and welcoming. It’s the kind of spot where you immediately feel at ease, whether you’re just dropping in for a pint or spending the evening. Definitely a place I’d recommend to anyone staying nearby. A real gem!

Very good pub about five minutes walk from Clapham Common tube station. Three cask beers on handpump when I last visited. Lots of outdoor seating at the front. Very friendly and helpful staff.

A great little pub close to Clapham Common. Fun atmosphere and quirky decorations.

It's just an absolute treat to drink at the Prince of Wales in Clapham. After a walk over the common it's a great place for a refreshing pint, either on the outside tables looking into the old town, or inside. Indoors you'll find a fabulous collection of everything from old time pub and drinking equipment to mounted animal heads, bunting and an inflatable Spider Man. I love this pub: there's so much to take in, the drinks choice is reasonable for a small venue and it's got a group of regulars who cluster at the bar. I visited with my cousin Stevecand we sat next to a decades old gin dispenser and a classic fireplace. There's a feel of the theatrical about the place too, and the locals know it as Pow Pow Pow thanks to its illuminated outdoor signage.

The Prisoner of War, sorry, Prince of Wales. A slightly bonkers pub by the polygon. It opens a bit late by my thinking, never mind, a good selection of beers, both cask and keg. Great service, thank you staff! The walls and ceiling are adorned with all the things customers forgot to take home last night, excellent. This is a one of a kind, please visit and enjoy.

The mixed race woman who (didn’t) served us was extremely rude and should not be customer service. Refused to serve me and my friend for no reason other than ‘her discretion’. When asked why this was she couldn’t give a reason. We were not drunk, loud, or rude, she just took a disliking and turned us away. Awful place, don’t visit.

I just had a quick drink to waste half an hour and will certainly pop back. Lovely old boozer with an old fashioned welcome. Please don't change a thing.

Yelp
This is one of my favourite London pubs. It has so much character it's almost selfish. The owner has collected all sorts of bits and bobs over the years - from a life-size Sinatra cut-out to a surfboard and stuffed ferret - and crammed them into the pub - on the walls, hanging from the ceiling, in every available space. You may even find yourself sitting at a table that doubles up as an old-school sewing machine! You'll be entertained merely from gazing at the mesmerising array of curiosities - I notice something new on every visit. Added to that it's a wonderfully cosy, comfortable place with a real local feel despite its prime location. It's a wonder to me that it doesn't get over-run with the Clapham crowd - perhaps it's too "out-there" for that. Either way I'm not complaining, I love the POW POW POW (as it's neon sign proclaims) exactly as it is, although I must say Christmastime is best there - even more decorations! And I must mention the pizza: this is a new addition to the pub and used to be the menu at the Rose and Crown across the road. Oregano, a local pizza delivery now serves pizza on request at the POW and the quality is amazing - real wood-fired style with interesting toppings. My fav is the Funghi.

Yelp
This is a lovely looking pub, with a couple of beers. It is a shame that their choice tends to be Sambrooks as I feel their beers have gone downhill over time. Thus went for a bottle of Wyld Wood cider, which was pretty nice. Was slightly shaken by the sight in the mirror of a man approaching me from behind in the urinals while undoing his zipper. He claimed short sightedness but I think a large measure of drunkeness may also have been involved. You can order in pizza from a local takeaway. If anyone saw the excellent recent documentary about 80s comedy, presented by Ben Elton, this is where Ben and Rik Mayall chatted over tea. POW POW POW!

Yelp
The Prince of Wales in Clapham Old Town is a rare gem of a local pub in an area where local pubs are few and far between. The staff are friendly and the décor is cool and quirky. They make some of the best bloody mary's in the world and have a good selection of wine and real ales. It is a great place to have a party too they let us catered for ourselves once and then another time we ordered in pizza. The menu is behind the bar. They offer a quiz which is MC-ed by the landlord on Thursdays, but if you are going get there earlier as it is very popular.

Yelp
I want to call this place a sailor's pub, but I'm not sure why. It just has that feel to it. Slap bang in the middle of Clapham old town, opposite it's nemesis, the sun, the Prince of Wales does good pub experience and no mistake. With a definite quirky personality and a few wooden tables outside on the pavement, it's a great place for a quiet beer with a few mates, better in the winter months, but a nice alternative for the summer.

Yelp
The Prince of Wales in Clapham Old town is a cool little popular pub/drinking hole. It was so popular on Saturday night with so many people in it, it was like 100degrees in there and going to sit outside on the big tables out the front was a welcome relief! Its decor is quaint and quirky, its looks like someone has liked car boot sales over the last 20 years and has hung everything they brought from the ceiling. A good crowd in there, more your late 20's early 30's and staropramen on draught, it would have been a 5 star if it wasn't so hot!

Yelp
What can I say, drunk staff using the pub as their own party , very loud music and overall very bad management ... Ruining what used to be a gem. I went there on Friday with colleagues and it was chaos. Such a shame

Yelp
The outside of the Prince of Wales has "POW POW POW!" emblazoned in neon. (This set the evening up with high expectations). Inside, it's like the interior of a curiosity shop crossed with an old man pub. (The plot thickens...). There was a lone tv on the wall and it wasn't turned on. (YAAAAY!) They have a huge selection of craft beers and ciders, keeping all in our party happy. The seating is fairly plentiful, for the size of the place, we were able to get a table, and it wasn't rammed full on a Friday night. All of these things add up to a great experience. The only downside? No food. I could have gone for more than crisps and such, but I still had a great night out here. As one of our friends works just up the street, I think Fridays might happen here more in the future.

Yelp
Quirky, fun, atmospheric, a jumble of weird and wonderful things adorning the walls and ceiling, great staff to have a laugh with and drinkers from all corners - regulars include superstars Beki and Lumpy - fantastic atmosphere to see NY in - free hats and blowers and streamers and loads of noise and chaotic jollifications - fantastic spot - excellent 6 stars.

Yelp
This pub's main selling point is definitely the amazing decor. The walls and ceiling are plastered with stuffed animals, signs and models, so even if the company you're with isn't interesting, you will have something to occupy your attention. It is not big, but you can get a table as long as you show up reasonably early. The beer's nothing special, but the staff are nice; you can order pizza which is supplied by a nearby restaurant.

Yelp
Weird, quirky little pub. I like this place a lot - full of odd statues and bric-a-brac everywhere. Should definitely be part of any Clapham pubcrawl.

Yelp
Big range of tasty beers. Excellent place for Friday night. Polite staff and low prices. My favourite part is the decoration. All those stuffed animals frighten me as much as they amaze me.

Yelp
Nice looking place and staff was friendly. I hear their chicken and waffles are good so we'll come back to try it! Stay tuned or a next review.

Yelp
First I was like, why does that building have 'POW' written all over it in blue luminous letters, and where is the entrance to the Prince of Wales? Anyway, once my confusion cleared up I was very happy about what I found inside. There's an incredible amount and variety of bric-a-brac hanging from the ceiling and on tables and window-sills, including an inflatable Spiderman in a hammock. It makes for a cool and quirky atmosphere. And with Harveys bitter as the guest ale you can't go wrong really. It's cheap too, for Clapham. It's small and will get busy, so it's best to come here early.

Yelp
It is a small place but very friendly. The place is full of miniatures imparting it a quirky look. Prominently the reason most people along with me like this place.

Qype User (camber…)

Yelp
A small but very friendly pub, so many items hanging from the ceiling and things around that you see new things every time you go. The staff are very friendly and it does have a student atmosphere but it does have many locals aswell. A great place to go for a night out in Clapham.

Yelp
This is a real locals bar - a step off the the main strip of clapham, a place to be left alone with your close local friends. Biggest selling point was being able to have pizza delivered to the table as there is no gastropub competing to take your money here. While other may scoff at it being a touch divey, its exactly what keeps the more pretentious disinterested.

Yelp
when I am in party mood I always come here. Great beer.

Yelp
Prince of Wales has the strangest decor I've seen. Stuffed animals and what not hanging from the ceiling. Besides that, it's a small place and could overcrowd quickly. Drinks are average, staff is friendly and service is good.

Qype User (tomgur…)

Yelp
It is nice to see this pub get a little recognition, as its a cool boozer. I always feel at home here and enjoy the quirkiness of the items decorating the interior of the pub. It has a lot more character and uniqueness than most in this part of Clapham, and attracts a decent type of punter as a result.

Qype User (mbenso…)

Yelp
cracking little hang out, quirky enough to drum up conversation and sells good enough beer, definately worth a visit if your in the area
