Good fresh bread and pastries. Basic grocery stuffs, and frog legs.
In addition to having a really great name (and their own official seal/logo, it seems), this place is stocked with necessities - dry goods, canned stuffs, cleaning supplies, cheap pop, etc, all at pretty low prices. Though I've seen this place here for years, now that i've actually ventured on in and know what's there, it will mean i have to venture out to Meijer even less frequently, which is good.
Of note was the bread section, where their moist, chewy, and warm bolillos and telera breads were just as good as Mexicantown Bakery's, and way better than the stale flour compounds that always disappoint from HoneyBee (i've wondered often if HoneyBee buys day-olds...). The pineapple empanadas were also aces! I wolfed down two.
They have a really large deli, but an even larger frozen meats section. As I was looking around, listening to Naught By Nature's O.P.P. that was kicking out of the overhead speakers, one of the employees came up behind me, as though in his own trance, and said out loud (to me or to himself i'm still not sure), OH DAMN we sell frog legs?! DAMN! :D :D We both went our merry ways laughing, but indeed, you can get a bag with quite a few frozen frog legs (which looked rather appetizing actually), for $4.99.
Lastly, they sell citrus at cut-throat rates (60% less than what Meijers charges), and they stock up on Jose Madrid salsas, which are probably the best jarred salsas on the planet and this, in addition to Kim'd Produce on Woodward, are the only two places I've seen it.
All around A-OK.
