Went here recently for dinner with some friends. Was really in the mood for pizza, so I ordered the Margherita pizza. What came out was something less than stellar. In fact, it was downright disappointing. First of all, there is the issue regarding presentation. The whole concept of eating a pizza at the table is the ability to keep the pie hot, or at least warm. Given the ambient outside temperature was about 92 and the inside temperature of the restaurant was around 72, it doesn't take a genius to figure out that hot dishes are going to cool fast, especially if the plate is not hot. My guests' plates were preheated to keep their entrees warm. My pizza, on the other hand, was placed on a pan that did not come from the oven. Therefore, what this restaurant might consider doing is having a small warming flame under the pan to keep the pie warm.
Onto the pizza itself. Once again, presentation is everything. On the pizza were globs of mozzarella, some of which was not even cooked. And as for the sauce, you would think that they ladled it on with a teaspoon. In fact, I asked for extra sauce to put on the pie. What did our server do? Yes, she brought me extra sauce.....................that came directly from the refrigerator. I had to ask her again to bring me sauce that was hot so that I could put it on the pizza. Her response was, "Uh. Okay". It's almost like she didn't get the concept that putting something cold on something hot that is meant to be eaten hot is not good culinary practice.
The figs/gorgonzola bread was excellent, but this is not enough to save this review. I'm giving it only two stars because maybe some of the other entrees might be better. However, based on the appearance of the entrees my guests had I will unequivocally state that this was my first and last visit to this restaurant. Italian food is not difficult to prepare. So I am not going to give a pass just because the chef may have had an off night. I can prepare much better pasta and sauce at home. Ciao Princi Italia!
