The Best Hotels in Milan

"Best Milan hotel for: traditional grandeur This is one of Milan’s grande dame hotels, with resplendent interiors marrying classic and Art Deco features. A huge Murano glass chandelier and classical paintings by the likes of Luca Giordano hang in the lobby lounge, while the elegant bedrooms are embellished with frescoes and bespoke Italian furnishings. As the sun sets, celebrities and socialites sip cocktails at Principe Bar, characterized by an eye-popping sculpted tinted crystal bar and back-lit mirrored wall, before nipping over to Acanto for Italian dishes supported by one of the finest wine lists in Milan. In the mornings, you’ll find early birds working out at Club 10, the hotel’s swanky 10th-floor fitness center, getting a sweat on as they soak up city views from the floor-to-ceiling windows. Price: Rooms from around $587 per night Address: Hotel Principe di Savoia, Piazza della Repubblica 17, 20124 Milan, Italy"

"Sleep like a Prince The lap of luxury. Nothing beats the Principe di Savoia, a historic Milanese hotel with over 85 years of history, for a weekend of pampering. The richly hued rooms look and smell delicious. The plump pillows lull you to sleep. In fact, all amenities are tops, including the fabulous Acqua di Parma soaps and five-star blow dryer. The Club 10 on the top floor has a rooftop gym and pool that overlooks the entire city, perfect for a sunrise swim. The Principe has an amazing attention to detail, best shown in its morning breakfast buffet, a cornucopia of delicacies from around the world, but should you have any dietary concerns, the Principe makes sure you are well taken care of."

We have stayed here numerous times when returning to the USA thru Milan. On this stay it was our wedding anniversary. The front desk clerk upgraded our room to a large/gorgeous suite. The morning buffet was fantastic. Great selection of breads and fruits as well as delicious to order omelettes. This hotel was definitely the best end to a 3 week vacation. Thank you !

The Principe has the best community of all the hotels I have visited in Milan, and this is why I always come back. I regularly bump into friends or colleagues in the lobby or at breakfast and would not have otherwise known they were in town. The rooms are large, well appointed, with big bathrooms and seperate showers and bath-tubs. The service is impeccable. The rooftop pool and spa are great and the concierge offer a wealth of information and assistance booking restaurants, theatre, opera, recommending exhibitions, etc. The breakfast buffet is vast and delicious with lots of excellent à la carte options.

I had an amazing stay at this hotel! The staff were so kind and made me feel special. They even celebrated me during my visit, which made me super happy. Everything was perfect, and I can’t wait to come back!

Google
Best hotel I've ever stayed at and I've been to a lot! From check-in to check-out everything was perfect. The room was gorgeous, the staff were super helpful and friendly. The gym and pool were blissful, the food glorious. Not inexpensive, but truly worth every cent.

I had a pleasant 3-day stay at the Hotel Principe Di Savoia. This is an old-fashioned 5-star hotel providing adequate amenities and services. However, given its size and depending on busyness, some services will take longer. In the evening of my birthday, I was surprised to find a cake champagne waiting for me in my room. I feel this is a sweet touch, since I did not expressively tell them. I would also like to highlight the efficiency its in-room dining service during the early hours in the morning, which all arrived at the exact time I requested.||As for the hotel interior and rooms, this is a historical property, so you will find signs showing its age, but in my opinion, this hotel has been properly maintained while keeping its neoclassical design from the early 1900s. The rooms are clean and equipped with modern double-glazing windows, shielding much of the incoming noise. I personally enjoyed its gym with a rooftop view of Milano. ||As some of previous reviews have indicated, the front desk did notify me about its additional service charge during check out, which I respectfully declined without feeling being pressured. In summary, this hotel certainly lived up to 5-star standard and offers good value for the price.

Just home from a 2 night stay in this most magnificent hotel and cannot recommend it highly enough. From the time our car pulled up, we experienced outstanding customer service from absolutely each and every member of staff. We were made to feel in the warmest and most friendly way. ||The hotel itself is old world glamorous and beautiful. The room decor is opulent and luxurious. The bed was insanely comfortable with gorgeous bed linen, down pillow and quilt - just fab! The only downside was that our room (316) didn’t have great daylight - due to the style and size of window, so if that’s important to you, might be worth highlighting. It didn’t matter to us as there were plenty of lamps and we weren’t in the room much during the day anyway. ||All in all, we had a wonderful stay and would not stay anywhere else when in Milano.

Google
What can I say about this fabulous hotel? Great location, close to the train station. Outstanding service from the get go. We only recall Mateo's name at check-in, but everyone we interacted with, from the porter to the doormen, to the staff at the pool/spa area, the breakfast area and the restaurant was outstanding. It was a short one night stay capping off a birthday celebration, but Principe di Savoia made it memorable. Thank you!

Google
This hotel exceeded our expectations from the moment of check-in till check-out, we were welcomed and treated with exemplary service and kindness. We stayed for 7 nights in only a deluxe room, but were treated like very valued customers, escorted thru the hotel and shown our room. During our vacation travels in June and July 2025, we stayed in three different 5 star hotels in Europe, and while all of the others were good, this hotel stood above the others in overall quality. This was our first stay in a Dorchester Collection hotel, but are sold on their standards, and will now seek out Dorchester hotels in future locations. Thank you to all at Hotel Principe in Milan!

Yelp
Excellence and luxury throughout. This hotel hits all the marks. Superb staff. Unmatched in-house restaurant and rooms that are the epitome of perfection. With a long and storied history this hotel will cater to your every whim. The rooms are perfect with every detail thought through. Fresh fruit in room upon arrival, turn down service and daily water delivery. Breakfast on site ensures the day starts perfectly. 24 hour concierge handled all my needs. With shuttle runs to the major areas this is a perfect place to stay and will be the ONLY place I stay in Milan.

Yelp
The Principe di Savoia is a beautiful hotel. The lobby has a classic European feel with the marble floor, gold colors, and intricate details. On the other hand, the rooms take on a more modern flair with the wooden floor, white marble bathroom, and walk-in shower. Amenities include a spa, pool, and fitness center. Dining options include the Acanto Restaurant, Il Salotto in the lobby, the Principe Bar, and room service. The location is near the Milan Central railway station, and there is a complimentary car service to and from the historical city center. While the facilities are on point, the service could use some work. There were some staff members who were genuinely friendly and exceptional, but there were also some who were not very pleasant. The most memorable was the hostess at the restaurant who seemed very stressed out and was not smiling or welcoming at all. Otherwise, there were some other staff members who did not seem really happy or enthusiastic about their jobs. Overall, I had a good stay despite the lackluster service. A beautiful place uplifts the mood. A comfortable bed makes for restful sleep. A convenient location allows for plenty of sightseeing and adventure. I spent most of my time outside of the hotel and had a great time in Milan.

Yelp
This is one of these European hotels that manages to create a reputation and a feeling of grandness. And it really builds on everyone working here and in its guests or customers. It has an aristocratic feeling, though I believe it was built in the 1980s. Service could not be better. Everyone is there to nicely please customers. Life seems quite easy, while you are here. Rooms are excellent, and they are nicely catered and taken care of. Breakfast is really nice, not ultra lavish, but quite good. Entrance is really well managed, and get you taxis in a few minutes. Decoration has its own style. Not the Milan's Villa Necchi Campiglio's refinement. But rather a mixture of non-antique Murano lamps, marble and steel and glass historicism. This could be better.

Yelp
We have traveled to 10+ countries in the past 10 years and this is my favorite hotel experience so far. The decor is so well balanced. The suite has plenty of room for our morning routine. One negative- there is no pleasant viewing from any window so you must enjoy how nice the inside has been decorated. It's very lovely. Staffing were all helpful as could be. They made lunch/dinner suggestions, and reservations at our request, for 3 locations and all 3 were fantastic. The daily room cleaning staff were great, fast and practically invisible. Doormen fast with taxi service. Breakfast area was clean and very fast service. Room service food was fast, hot and large portions. 3 night stay was perfect.

Yelp
EDIT: The manager of the hotel was kind enough to send along a complimentary bottle of champagne along with an apology note for our experience thus far. Stick to a Four Seasons or a Langham if you can, because this was terrible. We checked in for a 10 night stay in their base room (Classic Room) during our first trip to Milan. Two nights in and we are extremely displeased. The first night we were placed in hands-down the shabbiest, rattiest room we have ever seen in a hotel - check out the pics and video of filthy headboard, scuffs and scratches - with a ROCK HARD bed. We notified the staff and were moved to almost the exact same room with the exact same issue. Filthy headboard, rock hard bed. We had someone from the hotel staff come and look, as we thought maybe there was a miscommunication. We were then moved to another room with slightly different decor which was cleaned properly OR SO WE THOUGHT. The next day I happened to make the mistake of looking at the shower. See the photos. The following night we got an alert from AMEX that we had a $2,500 charge on our card from the hotel, when we had prepaid the entire stay already. We called down and they said it was a mistake - it should have been a $500 hold for the stay for incidentals. We called about this and the filthy shower and were moved again to a Junior Suite. Don't think we will be back, but make your own decisions.

Yelp
This hotel is amazing! Location in Milan is great with a free car transport that takes you into town to the sights. Everyone that works here is fabulous. Massimo the concierge spent much time with me helping me get train tickets to my other destinations. A relaxing dinner in the bar, I was well cared for by ALL waitstaff. Rooms are clean, cozy, and elegant. I even had them pick me up from the airport. It was easy and convenient.

Yelp
Pros: 1. Exceptionally good masseuse - ask for Isabella. 2. Room service charge is only 5 EUR per person instead of some ridiculous % of the total bill. 3. The concierge recommended a day trip to Bellagio, in addition to Lake Como. Great advice! 4. Friendly and helpful doormen. Cons: 1. When I asked for "unique, local boutiques" in lieu of Prada and Fendi, the concierge sent me to this street...I forgot the name but upon hopping out of the cab, all I saw were Calvin Klein and the Foot Locker (seriously?!). Disappointed, I asked a store clerk for better recommendations. She sent me to Brera (name of the neighborhood), and I couldn't be happier. That was a definite failure on the concierge's part, IMO. 2. Lackluster breakfast. We're in ITALY. Why bother with an American continental breakfast buffet? It's like stepping in to Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory and being offered nothing but M&M's. Lame!

Yelp
It's a little old fashioned but so well maintained and the staff is lovely. It is also nicely located to see some great new architecture as you leave to the left of the hotel and head toward the bridge through new developments and then spill out to Corso Como! My kids were in love with the Cute Hamburgers for kids in the Room Service they kept asking for it again and again, and when we had a terrible dinner at EAT ALY, I wish they had had the room service again too! Anyways, breakfast is not too varied, but enough to get you started and skip lunch! I would stay here again because it is so well placed, you feel at home here and I felt like I was sleeping in a luxurious cavern as I recovered from Jet Lag!

Yelp
Switched over to here for three nights after a night at the Armani Hotel. This place was much more reasonably priced and had a lively atmosphere. The upgrade to a corner room was fantastic. Good view and plenty of room. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean, and the bed nice and firm. Highly recommended. Would have given five stars for the price/value except for the very expensive wireless internet in the room. Come on. It's 2012. This needs to be free.

Yelp
This is a first class hotel with a first class staff. The amenities here are super. Limo rides to town are a great extra. Rooms are beautiful. The main restaurant is fabulous. We had a terrific dinning experience. Everyone is goes above and beyond to make you feel at home and the food was delicious. We cancelled reservations in town to eat here a second night. Breakfast buffet is second to none. We will definitely stay here again without hesitation.

Yelp
Following a major overhaul, The Hotel Principe di Savoia in Milan now features a new lobby, bar and suites. Part of the Dorchester Collection, the hotel can lay plausible claim to being one of the best in the world. The New York based designer Thierry Despont has transformed what was a somewhat stuffy ambience into a light and welcoming environment. The lobby is now the place to see and by seen for Milanese fashionistas and wannabes. If you can drag your eyes from the beautiful creatures sipping lattes and gazing meaningfully into their BlackBerries, you can take in the no-less gorgeous subjects of classical paintings by artists such as Luca Giordano which adorn the walls. At the risk of putting a crick into your graceful neck, don't fail to appreciate the custom-made Murano glass chandelier created by Barovier and Toso. The Principe Bar still has some of the original marble and wood panelling but now the centrepiece of the room is to a custom-made banquette wrapped around a grand piano. It is currently offering Sex and the City themed cocktails at EUR24 a pop make sure Big is picking up the tab. Upstairs, nine new Principe suites have been introduced and the Imperial Suite has received a total transformation. The suites feature hand-painted frescoes, Italian furniture and deep purple armchairs and floor-lamps. The large sitting rooms, part of each suite, are furnished with comfy sofas. The bathrooms are very spacious (after all, it was in one of these that James Corden and David Beckham shared a bath in aid of Sport Relief). Back downstairs the Acanto restaurant classic Italian cuisine chiefly influenced by the Lombardy region. I had a starter of Belugia caviar from Iran followed by a seafood main course of lobster, squid and prawns historic as Michael Winner might remark.

Yelp
Phenomenal hotel, impeccable service! I travel a lot, but this was one of the best hotels I stayed at in a while. Fantastic restaurant, with attention to every details. Terrific hotel staff - all very attentive and helpful. Great rooms and amenities at affordable rates

Yelp
Possibly the best hotel I've ever stayed in. The location is a little inconvenient (noisy square with lots of traffic), there are no decent views, but the building is tremendously grand, the rooms gorgeous and the bathrooms opulent and luxurious. Breakfast is world-class, with incredible pastries and types of bread and exquisite detail in the table service. The Savoia is, simply, an unforgettable experience for an ordinary mortal.

Yelp
This is a truly superb hotel with world-class facilities - but not perfect. I stayed late Spring last year for a conference. We found those people who had told the taxi driver they were staying at the hotel first paid considerably more for their fare - a Milanese way of redistributing wealth perhaps? Check in is slow and check-out a little curious with bills being settled in the cash office around the corner. My room was superb - facing an inner courtyard but light with generous Aqua di Parma toiletries and a minibar with water the price of Iceland. The bed was fabulous and the food excellent. Worth the trip - if you can afford it.

Yelp
A reasonably priced hotelwith a lively atmosphere. . Good view and plenty of room. . The room was clean. However expensive WiFi, which should be free.

Yelp
The rooms are spacious and nicely decorated; breakfast buffet is excellent. The location is OK. The lobby is on the smaller side but upscale.
