The Best Restaurants, Wine Bars, Bottle Shops, and Wineries tNatural Wine in San Diego | Eater San Diego

"This Ramona property, which is a vineyard and working farm that also grows Christmas trees, is open for tastings by reservation only. Producing only natural wines, the winery uses its own mostly Italian varietals or sources grapes from local growers." - Candice Woo

Google
I recently visited this fantastic vineyard and winery in the Ramona Valley San Diego County. It is family owned and operated, and they produce excellent natural wines, with focus on Italian wines. My favorites are Aglianico, Nebbiolo, and Barbera on the red side. They have an outstanding Dark Rose, and two fantastic white wines, Fiano and Malvasia. A little bit of Italy in San Diego. If you like Italian wines, this is were to go!

Haruka Takahashi

Google
Italian oriented winery. Great selection of red. Their Nebbiolo was great. We really liked it. I bought one bottle and tasting became free of charge. People are so generous and they offer many tastings. I can recommend this place as one of the best wineries in Ramona.

Google
This winery is unique. The staff is very welcoming and kind! This was our first time here and we will definitely return in the near future. The red wines were amazing.

Google
This is a wonderful Italian family winery with delicious ancient-style organic wines, best consumed on the spot or refrigerated. Gorgeous laid-back setting amongst the pomegranate trees and vineyards, great small single-size pizzas with dough imported directly from Naples, as a local Ramona this is one of the best venues town. Have fun!

Google
We had a wonderful time at this winery despite the unfortunate heat wave over Labor Day weekend. Luckily, this meant the winery was not crowded. There was a live musician and the man serving us wine was very attentive. He gave us a great wine tasting and the winery waives the tasting ~$15 when you buy a bottle. So lovely and hope to be back one day!

Google
Principe di Tricase Winery has the best wine and some of the tastiest vinegar I've ever had. This is a must visit winery in Ramona, CA. We visited for my birthday and can't wait to come back! Joaco did a wonderful job guiding us through our wine/vinegar tasting experience. We sampled his special sangria recipe and loved it so much we had to have a bottle to take home.

Google
Dusty (Dusty and the Love Notes) with Indian Joe were making music 🎶 at the Principe di Tricase winery. I went to listen to the music 🎶. The crowd was light and everyone was happy. My only complaint is about the coffee ☕. There was none ready to serve. Perhaps no one thought about it before hand.

MusiKey (Sally Piano Music)

Google
This family owned winery is amazing! Not only they have great organic clean wines, but they staff are friendly and wonderful people! We had a great experience for our first time visit … tried many different wines and they all were great. We joined the club member as we felt like the wines are great and like typical Italian wines and we would love to come back here and be part of this amazing family owed winery.

Yelp
Bocci Ball, Pizza, Natural Wine, Italian Family, Peacocks and Christmas Trees just about sums up this rustic winery in Ramona. We purchased a wine-tasting each and sat and relaxed in the un-fussy surroundings of this spacious outdoor family-owned winery. Their unfiltered wines are natural and don't have sulfites. They may be a little different to what you're used to. I can't say I really loved any of them personally, but it was interesting to try something different and the pourer explained a little bit about each wine which added to the experience. I felt the pours were on the small side for $18.50 a flight. There's plenty of seating, some shaded some not. You can sit and admire the view and watch the peacocks roam freely. Wine is available for purchase. The Italian family and employees are warm and friendly and were available to chat and tell us about their 'wine journey'. Also on site is a bocci ball court and a Christmas tree farm. I felt this winery has the potential to grow and be a lot more. It's slightly rough around the edges, but that's what adds to the charm. Give it a try! Free parking. Only open on weekends.

Yelp
I was really impressed by this winery and their follow up after an unfortunate experience I had when I visited them back in May of 2024. Kudos to Alessandro, the owner, a fine young man, who came all the way to my house in San Diego to hand deliver a really nice bottle of their 2014 Aglianico (which was simply amazing!!!), as a good gesture and as a way to apologize. Customer service is all about doing whatever it takes to get your customer back and Principe di Tricase Winery just did that. I'm a fan now. Thank you, I really appreciate it! I'll will go back to Ramona and when I do, this will be the only winery that I stop by. I visited several different wineries in Ramona but Principe di Tricase winery is the only one that has the right (superb would be the best word to use here) wine, the right (friendly, knowledgeable, cool) people and the right vibe (you just feel at home or like you're hanging out with your friends and family) for you to really relax and have a good time!

Yelp
The Mrs. and I stopped by Principe di Tricase Winery after having lunch at Cordiano Winery. We heard about it from another customer at Rancho Guejito so we thought we'd check it out. Principe specializes in unfiltered, sulfite free Italian varietals. They make a straight Nebbiolo which I love and purchased a bottle of. One thing you'll notice right away is that there is stuff everywhere. What I mean by stuff is old cars, unkept grounds, mismatched chairs and tables, and junk. There is a children's play area that to me looked terrifying. I feel like the Principe wine making venture began as a hobby and morphed into a business. Hence, the unkept grounds, etc. It's like having a job or of working on cars, but leaving various automotive parts all over your yard. Aside from the wine, food is served as well. Pizza, salad, and even Espresso. The staff were friendly.

Yelp
Wow!!! Talk about an amazing experience. Alessandro and team were great! We stayed at the BNB on the vineyard and were truly impressed. The wine and service was so on point we stayed the extra hour until closing. We ordered pizza last minute and they were so quick to fire up the grill to make our needs. Such a family feeling that we will be back again! Thanks team!!!

Yelp
Just WOW. We stayed at an Airbnb in Ramona and had another winery in mind to go to but once we arrived and Yelped the nearest once, Principe di Tricase came up. We were enticed by the reviews about the price, pizza and animals but our experience here was so much more than that! When we arrived, we were the only guests on the property and Alfredo jumped right into the tour, taking us through some of his young wines as well as letting us taste the wines he had on his normal tour. He shared so much about his family story and the process of making the wines very naturally. I did feel that the wines were less heavy than what I typically drink. He was very friendly and conversation with him flowed easily. He was so gracious with his times, with the number of pours, it really didn't feel like any wine tasting I've ever had before - it felt like being invited to someone's home and getting a glimpse of their favorite hobby. The wine tasting was $14 but he honored the yelp check in of $7.50. It felt like a $100+ experience from the attention to detail, and love he put into telling us about the wines. We all took home a bottle at about $35 each. The wine was so smooth and so drinkable - none of us are big wine drinkers! They have bunnies, a turkey, and other animals on the property that are fenced off but you can go to say hi too! There was no food on our visit. They are going through a transition to figure out how to run the place after Alfredo's daughter and son-in-law who previously ran it are now in Italy. It's a very chill, lax environment. Don't expect a super organized, luxury experience and you'll love this!

Yelp
Awesome winery ON a Christmas Tree Farm! They had live music when I went on Saturday. Sweet customer service, good wines, & they serve food as well. You can stroll their beautiful grove & they actually have some seating there. So romantic! They also have a small animal farm that the kids enjoyed. If you check in on Yelp, you get your flight for half off!

Yelp
The experience at Principe Di Tricase Winery is a quiet comfortable experience. The service was inviting and warm. The pizza was delicious. The site has at least one Peacock and Turkey roaming the grounds which for us was a perfect addition to the environment we craved.

Yelp
This Italian family owned business is just amazing, from the wine to the food! I came here to grab a Christmas tree and ended up staying a few hours to enjoy a glass of their finest wine and some delicious pesto pinsa. Excellent service too! Will come back again soon!

Yelp
Alex showed us true hospitality today! The wine is incomparable to any wine we've tried! This family vineyard is so unique and beautiful. This was our first stop of the day and we didn't want to leave! He gifted our bride with some wine as well! Thank you for an amazing experience!

Tristin R.

Yelp
Great wine, reasonable prices and the owner/operator gave us a tour of the cellar / fermentation area. Seemed very passionate and invested in his craft. Great Italian-made pizzas and other snacks. Definitely visit and support this family-owned business!

Chee L.

Yelp
Great wine and open space! Staff was extremely kind and showed us the wine distillery room. A great first time experience here!

Mariah G.

Yelp
Alex was amazing! He was able to get our bachelorette party in last minute for a private tasting!! Not only was the service and atmosphere amazing but the wine was absolutely delicious! Hands down the best wine I've ever tasted. I was not leaving without buying a bottle! He was also kind enough to gift our bride with her own special bottle! I will definitely come back here next time I visit San Diego!

Sinead M.

Yelp
Great wine! Tasting is great and good value. Employees know a lot about the wine and gave us a free tour of the wine cellar and told us about the wine and wine making process. Great mushroom truffle pizza as well!

Yelp
I really enjoyed my wine-tasting here today. I got to meet Alfredo, the winemaker, and Mel, who was pouring the wines, was incredibly knowledgeable and welcoming. Beautiful location, overlooking the Highland Valley and nestled in between the vines and pomegranate trees. Today, they even had a live band playing 1-4 pm (the Innocent Bystanders) and were making up fresh pizzas outdoors in their pizza oven. Alfredo specializes in Italian wines, and his Nebbiolo and Aglianico grapes are grown onsite. Those were two of my favorites, along with their Sangiovese ad some of their red blends. So hard to decide. I ultimately bought a bottle of the 2018 Aglianico, which was very good. I really enjoyed their 2017 Petit Syrah - a late harvest desert wine, too. Tastings are reasonably priced at $14 for 8 pours, (Yelp check-in discount of just $7.50). Discounts if you become a wine member, too. Definitely recommend, and would love to return!

Yelp
We stumbled upon this little gem. A family owned operation. The owner put a lot of love and thought into this place. (I'm sort of curious if they are Harvest Hosts as this would be a fantastic place for that) It's very relaxing and not like most wineries you go to, but that's what makes it so special. I loved seeing the ducks, chickens, doves, bunnies, turkey, and the goats! We will definitely be bringing the family and our friends back. We bought two bottles of estate wine, the dark rose and a Sauvignon- both are absolutely divine. Dog and kid friendly. Live music was a huge plus for us as well! We were happily surprised that their musician plays most Friday's and some Saturday's, and Mel their waitress was hard working and attentive. They are lucky to have her!

Morgan V.

Yelp
The food and wine here was fantastic. Got an impromptu tour of the cellar from Alesandro and learned all about the process. Great for groups big and small!

Yelp
Love this place. First things first... if you're looking for the typical winery experience (think Temecula), this isn't the place for you. This is a smaller, family run winery where the snobbery is nowhere to be found. Great wines, great family running it, and I go back whenever I can (and I'm not a club member...yet). I can't get enough of their Sangiovese. If you're nice and ask, they'll give you a quick tour (and taste!) of the wines as they go through the fermenting process. They could bottle each step and sell it. It's that good. Don't forget to walk the grounds and see all of the animals on the property. Also, if you like cats, they have a bunch that roam the land and may join your group. A unique experience and worth the visit.

Yelp
Small little place, they should expand because the wines are very unique & I loved them. They are sulfate free & other typical preservatives. Beyond that I really liked how good & unique each tasting was. They are all Italian wines, and was served by a gentlemen from Spain, he was a class act & very attentive. So far this has been some of my personal favorite in flavor for all the wineries I visited. As I said before I really liked the wine & it's very unique. Definitely recommended, Happy drinking!!

Yelp
Absolute adore this place. So much that I became a monthly member! Reasons why: 1) Sweet wine; 2) Location; 3) Italian; 4) Venue; 5) Staff 1) If you are into sweet wines like Moscato and Stella Rosa, then this place is for you. 2) Located in Ramona but not off the beaten path like deep into Ramona like other wineries. 3) The owners are Italian. Not only do you get that Tuscany feel but there's even a wood fired oven for pizza days! 4) This place is super cute and cozy. First time we came was on a rainy day so the outdoor patio was covered and we stayed indoor. The second time was on a sunny day for the monthly event to pick up our wine. 5) Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. Shout out to Trevor. I've never had a tasting where I enjoyed the entire tasting. The tasting on the first trip was mainly dessert wines served in the cute little petite glasses with Romantico, Seduction, and Passione. The second time, we tried other wines and normally, I wouldn't get these but the grapes at Principe has a way to expand my palate and convince me that I can enjoy other wines besides the sweets. For some reason, these were more on the tarty side for me but better than dry and bitter. 2016 Amalfi Orange Muscat - on the dryer side 2017 Sauvignon Blanc - smooth 2014 Dark rose - tart 2011 Aleatico - I was told to taste it cold then warm it up for a woody, dryer, smokey effect. For me, best described as peppery tart. 2012 Aglianico N.S. - stands for non-sulfate. If you are familiar with the dry preserved plum in Asian cultures then that's what it tasted like to me. It has a plum tart taste and since Principe does not filter their wine, you get the full flavor and residue at the bottom of the glass which is drinkable. 2015 Petite Sirah - Less sweet, more tart than 2016 2016 Petite Sirah - The younger Sirah is sweeter and smooth 2016 Melbec - My least favorite but lighter than other Melbec Joaco's Sangria - So good that we got two full glass and ordered a bottle. Becareful because it taste like fruit punch. The second time we came was during our monthly wine pick up event and the shed was completely re-modeled with open space and more seating. The place was packed with other wine goers, the wood fired pizza oven was serving fresh handmade pizza with dough made from scratch. There's a large fenced farm area with peacocks, turkeys, and chickens. Oh, and they make balsamic vinegar too! The venue is suitable for families and groups. Pets and outside food are welcomed. Looking forward to bringing friends and spending more time here as we see the winery mature.

Cartman S.

Yelp
I would give fewer stars if I could, because the wine here is the worst wine I've ever had. It literally doesn't taste like wine, but rather sour fruit juice. Zero complexity or oak. Aromas of mud/dirt. A few of us didn't even bother to finish our tasting glasses, that's how awful it was. Even their 2016 wine offered absolutely nothing to like. The tree farm and the grounds look nice though, and the area is pretty. We were wondering if this is some sort of hobby or tax break while a more legitimate business happens elsewhere: these folks cannot possibly be professional wine makers.

Yelp
Well, it's hard to know where to start. I'm not much of a wine drinker but I loved going to Principe di Tricase! The owner, Alfredo, was so welcoming and informative. He has a huge selection of wine and we found them all to be tasty. Joaco (The Professor of Wine, with a large following in Spain) poured the tastings and gave us the history of the wines and the grapes themselves, and suggested food pairings. It was so much fun! The tasting was extensive ... even included small samples of dessert wines & vinegars too! We had packed a picnic, and it was the perfect day to just relax and visit. It was around 4pm on a Friday afternoon and at that time we were the only guests! My husband I joined the Wine Club, and our friends did as well. It has a lot of benefits - a free tasting with pickup, and an invitation to their monthly 3rd Sunday pizza fest! After we joined the wine club, Alfredo gave us a tour of his winemaking operation, and a few more samples. He even joined us for awhile and we just sat and visited. It felt like we were just hanging out with family! I love the rustic charm ... this isn't a fancy place but a working farm where Alfredo's family lives. (They also sell pine trees during the holidays.) We saw chickens, turkeys, goats... and a very nice cat came to visit us and a beautiful peacock strutted by our table as well. It was a joyful experience that I would highly recommend!

Yelp
Very nice people, nice wine! Came to cut down a Christmas tree and stayed for the wine tasting. Very busy but they made it work!

Yelp
Received two bottles as a gift-UNDRINKABLE quite literally. We tried a glass from the first bottle and threw it away. And then threw away the entire second bottle. I am by no means a wine snob. I am completely fine with anything from grocery store wine to wine from an amazing winery in Napa. We only had the dark rose, and it tasted like straight fermented vinegar. I've seen similar reviews on here for it, so it makes me feel less crazy. I honestly was scared to drink it out of fear of getting sick. Also, the bottles have SO much sediment in them. I understand some sediment can happen, but it shouldn't be so bad that you can taste it. I am all for supporting small business, and it pains me to write this, but I would not waste your money on this wine.

Kim B.

Yelp
We had a great afternoon at this winery today, and I don't even Drink wine!! This is a laid-back homey atmosphere with farm animals roaming around. I was in heaven. A young man there even brought out a Turkey at my request. His name is Thursday. (The turkey, not the man. ) this was one friendly turkey!! And the pizza was really quite tasty. I will be back, and sooner rather than later!!

Robert B.

Yelp
My gf and I had a great time kicking back on the patio and experiencing the unfiltered, natural wines that are really different than what we typically drink. We really enjoyed meeting the owners and chatting with them and the other people who work there. We learned about the wine, Italian roots of the winery, future plans, plus we shared some travel stories. Very nice people!!! We will be returning soon, especially for more Sangiovese, and to try the Italian flatbreads.

Yelp
We had such a disappointing experience at this winery. It was our first stop of the day and we had been really looking forward to trying some new-to-us varietals. In fact, I had deliberately picked this as a must-try winery because their offerings were so unique and we were excited to check them out. We should have anticipated the experience based on the complete lack of coordination between the information on the winery's website, Yelp page, Google page, and various local brochures we had read while deciding where to go. We weren't 100% clear on whether they were open on Friday or just by appointment, whether they had a pizza oven or a food cart, whether they closed at 4:00pm or sunset. They might have had live music. Everything we read told a different story which set the stage. We arrived at about 12:30 on Friday afternoon (they opened at 12), and we were the only patrons there. The person who waited on us seemed surprised to see customers, and was less than excited about providing service. We were planning to enjoy a pizza for lunch since their website and Yelp page talked about them having a pizza oven or a food cart. When we asked, we were told they were "starting a little slow today" and that they weren't set up yet to provide food. We were assured that we could place an order and we would be accommodated, and the server said she would let us know when we could set that up. We shared a flight of 8 wines, which was a reasonable value for the $. The wines were interesting, unique, and very European-style - not too sweet, definitely not your typical California wines. We did like a few. We really wanted more information about the vineyard and the wines, what made these unusual grapes unique - we are learning the local wine culture and getting to know the area, and love getting to know the wine makers and owners and hearing their stories. But that was not going to happen here. Our server stopped by just barely long enough to drop off new glasses and then retreated. It appeared we were inconveniencing her by being there. She never did offer to put that pizza order in. When we went to pay, I lamented that I would have loved to try one of their dessert wines which was not one of the 8 poured for us. There was no offer of a splash, no offer to purchase another taster glass, no asking if she could get us anything else, just a disinterested shrug. We purchased our favorite of the wines (a dark rose) since the tasting was free with a purchase, and left hungry and sad that they had so little interest in introducing new and LOCAL customers to their wines. With so many other options in the area, I don't expect we'll be back.

Yelp
Rustic is a pretty good description of the grounds. It was raining, so we didn't explore, we hustled inside pretty quickly. We noticed a large bird coop with a variety of birds. The tasting area was pretty small, glad we were the only ones there. I had a groupon. - tasting for two and a bottle of vinegar. First time I have had vinegar at a winery. The wine was all right. They also host a monthly party for their wine club members. Trevor was an amazing host. Very knowledgeable and friendly.

Yelp
This paradise comes with a winery and so much more. Conveniently located just a few minutes off the Ramona main drag and also accessible via the scenic Highland Valley wine country road. We did not know what do expect on our first visit but were pleasantly surprised. The property immediately signals that it has grown organically. And I don't mean the fruit, although undoubtedly but unconfirmed organic, but the farm which sits on 60 acres of sloping to rolling hills to the west side and open view towards the Ramona Airport east. You will find diverse lifestock which will delight grown-ups and children alike. There is a designated play area for children, so bring them along. Dogs are allowed as well. This business has been around for several years and offers 'pick your own tree' service for the holidays. Food is available and prepared on site, we did not try any yet. The estate wine is unfiltered and free of sulfite, predomimantly red and my favorite is the dark rose. Wine tasking imcludes 7 samples. Vinegar and olive oils are made on premise, all estate grown. You will find old growth pomegranate trees which provide the fruit for the delicious pommegranate dessert wine fittingly named 'Passione'. The seating areas are also unique, some set under a pergola of pommegranate branches. There is so much more to see and explore which we will save for another visit. Oh, almost forgot : we were treated to live music. Altogether a fantastic experience.

Bonnie M.

Yelp
Excellent organic wine created with so much Italian passion and love. Excited to find this small husband and wife winery. It's not a fancy tourist commanding winery but so worth visiting for their wines. As a red wine lover from Napa their red wines are so smooth and light but the lingering taste is beautiful. If you speak Italian these are your people. Very generous in the tastings and bottle prices are &30-$40 well below other wineries. If you are Italian or speak Italian this Italian family is your family. We had so much fun today!!!
google avatar

Renel G.

Yelp
The wine was decent, but the grounds was very unkept. A lot of broken chairs and junk all around the facility. A little more attention to the business would have done them a lot of good.
google avatar

Betty L.

Yelp
Nice winery in Ramona. This winery is very different from the other wineries we visited. First, the pourer goes to your table to serve your tasting. At the other wineries, they would give all of your tastings at once. It didn't really have a view but just the experience. At this location they were also selling Christmas trees. We ordered pizza for $12.00. We really didn't like any of their wines. We were seated next to the chickens and peacocks (enclosed area). We got a coupon from the Ramona visitor guide. Buy one get one free. Enjoy

Yelp
Such a beautiful, family-oriented winery. The wine is unbelievable. You feel like you've been transported to Italy. The owners and winemakers go out of their way to make people feel comfortable and happy to be there. I've never had such impeccable service and felt so at home. My friends and I plan to come back as often as we can.
google avatar

Susan M.

Yelp
This was a real treat. It was great to drink Italian varietals in San Diego. Alberto makes your visit so charming that it's hard to walk away without buying something. This is also a Christmas tree farm and there are peacocks roaming wild on the property. There's lots of shaded patio seating and they are following the Covid rules very well. Honestly, this was one of the most charming wine tastings we had in the valley. I would definitely come back.

Yelp
Love this winery and the crew that run it! Their wine is delicious, and everyone that works there is always warm, friendly and welcoming. I've been a member for about six months, and I've really enjoyed every bottle that I've gotten, and the member pizza parties!
google avatar

Kevin K.

Yelp
I'm no wine snob by any means, but this is by far the worst winery & set up I've been to in SoCal. I'm sure they are doing the best they can with everything that is going on which is why I rated two stars rather than one. I was not impressed. I would not recommend. IF you feel the need to go here start with the red & skip the kerosene tasting whites.

Yelp
LOVED LOVED LOVED how nice and amazing this winery is. Great service, super great variety of wines, delicious food, cannot recommend this place enough

Kaitlyn R.

Yelp
Amazing service and wines. My favorite winery I have been to, highly recommend if you want to spend a nice afternoon with your friends!

Yelp
I have to say I'm not really a wine drinker. But I have owned and operated my own business for years and I know what quality experiences feel and look like. The people that run this vineyard are beautiful people and I have found myself coming back time and time again and am looking forward to hosting my future events w friends and family here. What an excellent find. Beautiful people and a beautiful space.

Kim E.

Yelp
Love this rustic winery. The wines are great and they treat you like family. Once a month they have Italian pizza party for all the wine members! A wine tasting here is awesome and they make vinegars too that we love! Authentic Italian! St Patty's day 2029

virginia s.

Yelp
Lovely family run business. Go there often for the wine (we love to walk around the property with the kids, there are animals, and fruit trees) but our favorite thing to do is pick our Christmas tree here. It's a family owned business, there are many trees to pick from but it's not as large as to be overwhelming, they cut it in front of you, help you to the car.... And the overall atmosphere doesn't compare to a Home Depot parking lot!!! This year the oldest daughter has even set up a little craft station she runs (free of charge!!!!), a very nice touch!

Yelp
This winery is cozy, welcoming, joyous, and simply wonderful!! Everyone was so kind and provided excellent customer service. Words cannot explain the exceptional attention and service we received sunday. The weather was perfect, sunny, slight wind and beautiful skies. There are plenty of tables and 2-3 large booths outside, there is also indoor seating as well. I purchased their groupon for wine tastings for two and i was beyond impressed. Im new to the wine industry but i do love and appreciate the history, details, and education on the different types of grapes and wine making. My husband and I had a blast and we learned so much! This was the first time any winery explained a little about each wine sampled, it was so great!! There was also a wonderful woman who handcrafts cheese in Ramona (cheeses from the cave), the cheeses were so delicious! I purchased 2 to go. What was going to be a quick sunday tasting turned into an incredible afternoon of the best wines ive ever had the pleasure of tasting, live music, smiles, laughter, sunny skies, artistan cheese, and great conversations with other tasters. We also joined as members and we cant wait to go back!! Thank you so much for such a great first experience!

Yelp
My first time visiting this Winery, in beautiful Southern California. . I was given a friendly welcome, after driving onto this Beautiful property. Then I noticed an aviary with white and blue plumed Peacocks and white Doves coo-ing!!Then in a short distance, I could see the Grapes on the vines, like gems! The wine tasting was so enjoyable! Each wine I tasted had a unique, lovely bouque, earthy, sweet and others heavenly and romantic! Both men and women would enjoy. The earthy heavenly taste, gently ,smoothly past accross the palet. You could feel the passion of Italy, that this family is sharing with us all in America. To conclude- I've been to several Winery's from New York to California. This I give five stars! If you want to give a gift of Romance this Season, buy a bottle/ case of their delightful Wines! it's natural. Try it! Delish! A trip to Italy with every glass. Si bon!....So good! Eve D. Yelp
Unique wine tasting experience. The family who runs this winery is charming, generous, and AMAZING!!! From the moment you walk into the winery, you are greeted by a warm and courteous staff. They have an extensive list of wines available to purchase, as well as delicious after dinner wines and savory vinegars. The tastings were plenty and joyous. Within a few steps, there is a farm with peacocks, rabbits, ducks, and many more loving creatures. ... a definite hit for the kids. We were so lucky to purchase a Christmas tree from them. They opened their doors after hours and let us chose our favorite 9 foot tree. We can't wait to decorate!!!! What a delightful place...............cant wait to go back and make some more memories!!!!!

Yelp
Spent 10 years living out in the Temecula vineyards and enjoying the many wineries out there and I've never experienced the same intimate and family style community that this wonderful winery offers. Each time I go it's a memorable occasion for not just me but also for my 2 and a half year old son, who enjoys picking the grapes with mom out in the vineyard and stomping them afterward. The amazing family that owns the winery are so unbelievably personable. One way they displayed this unique hospitality was by catering to my son's dietary needs during a lunch they provided after we harvested grapes that morning. My son's diet is gluten and dairy free and they were serving lasagna. They ended up making him his own personal gluten/dairy free lasagna!! I was so blessed by their thoughtfulness towards my son's individual needs. In addition they have all organic wines that taste incredible. It's truly the full package. If you're looking for the perfect daycation that feels like you've escaped to a quiet, small family owned vineyard in the heart of Italy, look no further!

Yelp
Good wine. Great atmosphere. Don't get wine by the glass. Absolute waste of money. They pour the same amount for a glass as they do taster. Just do a wine tasting.

Yelp
We had an amazing experience brought to you by Alberto of this wonderful winery! We enjoyed so many different Italian wines all of which were incredibly delicious and learned so much from the owner. Definitely coming back!!!

Yelp
What can we say?! There are many great wineries in California, and there are several 'must have' offerings at the Principe di Tricase Winery in Romana, CA. Whether it's "a bottle of red, a bottle of white, it all depends upon your appetite," (Billy Joel, 1977), with regards to which of their wines or all of them that you fancy more. My wife and I happened upon this winery secluded in the Ramona country side in the Spring of 2019 and everything about our experience thus far has been wonderful from our first visit, enjoying our monthly membership to participating in the first harvest of the season back in October of 2019. Since our first day at the winery when we happened to meet and talk at great length with the owner to our subsequent visits, the owner and his family, as well as those who work alongside them every day of the year, are very passionate about what they do, take great pride in the fruits of their labor, and make us feel like we are apart of the family each time we visit. We must admit that as great as our overall experience has been thus far, we can see how some people who have been to other award winning wineries throughout California might be taken aback during their initial arrival, but to us, the rustic look is what makes this place so charming and what adds to the overall character of the winery. Some wineries are great fits for locals, visitors, and others are well suited for both. For us, the Principe di Tricase Winery is the kind of winery that is open to everyone looking for something different and unique -- a winery they can build a relationship with season, after season after season. There is something to be said about harvesting the grapes and tasting those same grapes through the first press all the way through the fermentation process until the wine is ready to be enjoyed with your favorite meal with family and friends. At this winery, members are afforded this opportunity and it is something my wife and I have enjoyed being a part of and look forward to in the future.

Yelp
I hesitated to post a review after seeing how the owner responded to some previous negative reviews. Tip from one business owner to another? Harassing people who complain about you online is a no-win scenario. You aren't likely to win back their business AND you make yourself look petty in the process to any potential customers reading through reviews. It's not a good look. Ok, now to the review: 1. The grounds are a mess. The "tasting area" is furnished with damaged vinyl booths salvaged from an old restaurant accented with plywood panels. The bathroom is accessible via a walkway littered with garbage piles. I have sampled wine all over California including a number of delightful, family-owned small-batch wineries producing delicious wine. In fact, I am currently a wine-club member at a small winery in Central California that began as a family project. I have visited a number of wineries where the tasting area is "rustic" rather than lavish and been wowed by their wines. It is not a matter of expecting a fancy "rich" experience that left me so disappointed by Principe's grounds. There is a difference between a clean, simple tasting area and one littered with trash and debris. The difference is a lack of effort. 2. The wine. Oh. My. God. Every single bottle we sampled from their extensive wine list was undrinkable. It invariably tasted like vinegar regardless of varietal. The winery does not filter its product, and each bottle we saw was filled with debris. We dumped every single taste we received. Aside: In one response to a negative review, the owner stated something to the effect that us uneducated Americans couldn't possibly understand *real wine* because we are so accustomed to "corporate, mass-produced" wine. I can't speak for every visitor to this winery, but I have spent time in Italy and let me tell you: the Italian vintners I met in Tuscany would heartily disagree with Alfredo's claim that Italian wine tastes like vinegar rot-gut to the unrefined palate. Do not be fooled by his claim, bad wine is bad wine the world over and that includes Italy. 3. The service was wonderful. Trevor, our pourer, was friendly and informative about the wine-making process. He was happy to linger and chat about each varietal he supplied to us. Trevor was the only good part of this experience, and I hope he reads this and takes his talent for interacting with customers somewhere worthy of his labor. To conclude: The wine is consistently terrible. The grounds are dirty and poorly appointed. The owner thinks that all Americans are dumb enough to believe that they simply can't recognize bad wine when they drink it. The service is wonderful, but is not enough to entice me to ever return and punish my mouth and stomach with the awful products made here. Hard pass.

Yelp
The wine here is truly fantastic! We stopped here because they have a live Christmas tree lot. We decided to give the wine try and oh boy were we surprised at how great the wine was. Alfredo the owner personally walked us through each of the wines and the process he uses to make the wines. The varietals were rich and flavorful and the blends were hands-down some of the best I've tasted in the area. He uses some old world techniques on some special wines that are the bomb! Of course picking a tree was awesome and much more fun after some vino! We had such a great time that we decided to become members. So it's been a month on now and we've gone to our first members party. The Christmas members event was definitely one to take part in. Wine, pizza, potluck, Italian songs and great company. Alfredo and his family really know how to make wine and treat their guests to a great time. I can't wait for the harvest event! Principe is a little "rustic", it's not a fancy shmancy winery; it's true working family winery and well worth a visit!
