I’ve been there a bunch — the burgers just hit, Not fancy at all, just greasy and legit. They’re the kind of burgers the fancy ones dream, Messy and perfect, a meat lover’s dream. It gets pretty packed, so don’t think you’ll be quick, The folks at the counter ain’t pulling no tricks. They’re not fake-friendly — just busy and real, They’ll sling you your burger and that’s the big deal. No tables to camp at, no drive-thru to zip, You walk in, you order, you wait for your trip. Outside it looks plain, you might pass it by, Inside’s a gas station — no burger joint vibe. And that’s what I love — it’s weird but it’s right, A greasy burger oasis, open day or night. If you ain’t been yet, stop reading — just go! Best messy burger you’ll ever know.

Google
Amazing little burgers that melt away after chewing into it and your homemade average French fries, nothing fancy. Just homemade feeling. And you cannot beat these prices compared to your fast food burger. I highly recommend it.

Google
Food was good, but the wait was atrocious, I felt like they just forgot to bring it out. I saw 2 people who ordered after me get food before me. Also the small head shop inside is a little odd but I can see it working out, cheap burgers and some zigzags to make the burger better. I would definitely call ahead as I waited around 40 min for a burger and some jalapeno cheese balls.

I love this place the minute I hit Kansas this is my first stop. The prices don’t appear to have gone up much and I can appreciate that. The food is delicious and I’m glad they’re still there.

Mel Winter

Google
The most delicious burgers ever! I will drive (well my husband will) an hour away to get them. My wheelchair won’t fit but I’ll wait in the car while my husband orders.

Seth Evans

Google
Least to say is overrated. The biscuits and gravy were as bad as hanover's tbh. The onion rings were pretty good, don't see many people do that. And the burger was a burger. Was good, but could be better on the materials, the flavor of patty was well though!

Mo Lones

Google
This place is great. You get a really good quality sandwich for less than what you would spend at any chain fast food.

Ryan Armbrust

Google
Small, crowded place, but they tried really hard to help everyone quickly over lunch. Fries were average and mushy, but the burger was totally worth it. Juicy, tasty patties with just the right amount of gooey cheese. Comes standard with onions and mustard. Price is right, too, at about $3 for a double. Look past the rough exterior and small size of the store, and come here to get a good old fashioned great burger!

Josh D.

Yelp
So cheesy, best burger I've ever had. Would recommend, plus it is super cheap for how tasty it is. 10/10

Yelp
1 of the 2 best burgers in Topeka‼ This place is an institution. 2cd generation of incredible good grease. The traditional burger comes with the meltiest cheese ever with pickle, onion & mustard. I take a hand towel to eat them. Most of the time we eat them on someone's car trunk since you don't want that in your car. There is no indoor seating or bathrooms. The owner is so sweet!

Christy S.

Yelp
Always nice to see Susie and staff. They are kind, friendly and the food is really good and keeps you coming back.

Yelp
Really great food. Lobby gets a little bit crowded but it well worth the wait. I would recommend it to anyone.

Yelp
This is hands down the best burger place in the Midwest!! You should call in your order if u want faster service. You cannot sit in there and eat. To go orders only. They are a small operation that's been serving the same food for as long as I can remember. It's the best food in town!!
google avatar

Courtney S.

Yelp
Best hole in the wall burger joint in the state of Kansas! They also are the most reasonably priced burger joint around!
google avatar

Shaka Z.

Yelp
Legendary Topeka location. One of the best hole in the wall joints for miles!! Can't go wrong with anything on the menu!

Sheri D.

Yelp
Stopped there again while in town and they were extremely short handed, looked like only 2 people working. Still very friendly and fast-and of course delicious! Really appreciate their customer service to the community!

Yelp
Best burgers in Topeka. Cheesy goodness. Hard to beat a greasy sack burger and Harold's prize package hits the spot

Robert C.

Yelp
Gross and greasy food, the place was dirty, the service was okay but I don't know how this place is still open! I won't go back!!

Keisha W.

Yelp
horrible customer service, the older woman taking my order continuously cut us off to put us on hold numerous time, she was very disrespectful from the start of the order , extremely unprofessional and overall horrible people to come in contact with. very disappointed of who is now running this business and allow these kind of employees. Miss Paula needs to be find immediately
google avatar

Yelp
This place has been around since I was a kid and they care about the community. Having said that, the double cheese burgers are next level. Call ahead and place your order. They take credit cards.

Kasi H.

Yelp
They have the best food and you can't beat the price. Went in today and they were so friendly Suzy know her customers by name. Everyone in the place was so happy, customers and staff alike. It is so refreshing having a great experience dining out. Made my day.
google avatar

Ilene H.

Yelp
I highky recommend you call at least 20-30 mins ahead to pick up your food. This place is SUPER BUSY for a reason. Their burgers and fries are so yummy. I especially love their biscuits and gravy bowl. Comes with potatoes and eggs, your choice of sausage or bacon. You may want to take a long nap afterwards.
google avatar

Brianna W.

Yelp
Cheap good burgers and funnel cake fries! But the wait is alway long so call ahead!! If not you will be waiting a while
google avatar

Rose L.

Yelp
Honestly if I had the ability to give one star it would be there.... Ended up driving to prize package from Nanny's soul food because they decided to false advertise their hours, waited 35 minutes at prize package for cold hard dark fries, and cold nasty ass burger.... This place has gone way downhill ran by a bunch of disrespectful youth, who are to busy dancing around and singing in the kitchen to get the fries and the burger done at the same time so one another isnt Cold.. have no customer service skills at all. Prize package ain't no better than McDonald's BUT WAY more expensive.

OsaGe 0.

Yelp
Everytime I call, I get put on hold-- then forgotten! They must make a ton of money if they can bypass customers like that! I sure hope 2023 can treat me better as a long time customer or I gotta stay away.
google avatar

Yelp
A really good spot to grab some lunch. The building looks like it was an old gas station, like from the 1920's. The burgers are fine but not in same league as Pad or Bobo's. You can call your order in so you won't have to wait around. And since the place is so small you want to avoid waiting. The corn nuggets, although popular, were a bit "meh" but their onion rings were above average. If you go around 2pm you'll escape the lunch rush.

Yelp
For those who aren't familiar with it, Prize Package is a tiny take-away hole-in-the-wall burger place that isn't really like anywhere else. I first read about Harold's Prize Package on Yelp! when trying to find places to eat in Topeka. My first attempt to go there was thwarted when they were closed for the Memorial Day weekend. When I made a second effort to go back, they were open, and I got my taste. I had originally asked around the office about Harold's Prize Package and no one seemed to know what I was talking about, though one guy at work did say he was familiar and that delivery is sometimes available. Regardless, I was finally going to get the burgers I had read about at the place. First, Harold's Prize Package is a tiny place. The whole of the area inside is about 25 square feet, just enough space for a handful of people to stand around, but it gets crowded fast. Second, they take your order and write it on your take-away bag, and that's their system for making sure you get what you ordered. Third, unless you like standing around waiting, I recommend you call in your order and come pick it up in 10-15 minutes. It's also a small convenience store, so if you need lottery tickets, cigarettes, or some other small things, they have some of them. After waiting in for my order to come up, I took my whole bag and headed back to the office -- no place to eat inside Prize Package, and it was a hot enough day that I was not going to eat in my car. When I got back to work, I was generally happy with what I got. The double cheeseburger was tasty and juicy. I'm not sure if it came off the line like this or if it had the extra benefit from being packaged up while I was headed back to the office, but the bun ended up super soft and a little greasy, and the cheese melted and melded with the burger patties. It was really good. I'm always a sucker for fried okra, and this was about how I expected it to be -- a fried but commercially-prepared product. I also got a hot pickle, which ended up being a little spicy, but not anything that I would feel the need to have again. I will probably go back to Prize Package, but I will see if I can call the order in ahead of time. Also, it might be worth it to get two of those double cheeseburgers.

Doug T.

Yelp
The prize package is the best! I have been eating there for almost 40 years. I no longer live in Topeka, but the Prize Package is the first place I stop at when I hit town. The double cheeseburgers are to die for. They taste the same after all these years. Harold and Dee would be proud of how Susie has carried on the tradition. You Rock Prize Package! Doug in Concordia

Yelp
is it true they deliver?? wats the details on that.. Four stars cause they always in a rush and rude as hell if u ask me But burgers r bomb

Yelp
Hands down the best burger I've ever had. So cheap and for a hole in the wall you'd never expect to grab the most mouthwatering, cheesy, well prepared burger that you've ever had. I would definitely recommend calling in your order and waiting in our car for a little bit just because the inside waiting room is long. I drive from Kanas City now just to get them, when I lived in Colorado 5 years ago I made an overnight trip out just to get a few Prize Package burgers to turn around and drive back to Colorado. Absolutely recommend going here if you're looking for good cheap food in Topeka.

Kyna C.

Yelp
The wait is worth it and there are many options. Always excellent service and food! A true Topeka classic.

Yelp
First time here & have to say if you want a GOOD fast food cheese burger, this is the spot. I had the single with cheese; I love how the onions are diced up on the burger; cheesy as well. The fries, eh, I feel like those could be a hit and miss. I was about 5 mins late picking up my order, so I'm considering the fact that they sat for a little bit. They weren't to my personal liking.

Mike T.

Yelp
Had heard how great Prize Package was but never got around to trying it out. Decided to give it a try today and I was blown away at how great the food was! We decided to try the cheeseburger and onion rings. When we arrived home (carry out order), We noticed that one burger was missing. Gave them a call and they said they would bring a burger out since we were about 10 minutes away. The Burger and onion rings were spot on. Lots of flavor in the burger and the onion rings were crunchy. They held true to their word and delivered the misplaced burger and even threw in some of their funnel cake fries, which were insanely good (would highly recommend). The fact that they went out of their way for a customer definitely left an amazing first impression. We will definitely be going back! On a side note, the restaurant is small so it can get pretty clustered inside while others are waiting to get their food. I also noticed that their door opens in instead of out, which (could be wrong) might be a fire hazard. It also made it even harder for people to get in and out.

Yelp
A total diamond in the rough. An iconic Topeka restaurant where the greasy goodness flows like milk and honey into the brown paper bags. No frills just great food at a great price. If I was on death row this would be my last meal.
google avatar

Yelp
Walk in. Order something fried at the counter. Walk out and enjoy. This place is great. Just about everything on the menu is fried. You walk into a small little shop and order your food to go at the counter. It doubles as a convenience store as well. The folks that run the place are very nice. Recommend the cheese burger with fried cheese curds. Definitely not a place to go if you have to stick with a heart healthy diet or you are watching what you eat. But;'sometimes you just gotta go to Prize Package and eat delicious, greasy food for lunch!!!
google avatar

Jackson H.

Yelp
Prize Package is kind of a mix between a burger joint and a convenience store. The ordering/waiting area is very small, and fills up quick pretty much every day. They have a large variety of food, between burgers (which are very cheap- 1.80 for a regular hamburger), thick-cut fries, cauliflower, hot cheese balls and a whole lot more. Definitely a lunch spot if you can wait a few minutes. A few tips for someone wanting to check it out: The regular cheeseburger has a LOT of cheese, so just get a double. Balance it out. The funnel cake fries are delicious, in a very unhealthy way. One of my favorite things on the menu. You can get 2-liters for less than 2 bucks, lotto tickets, pork rinds, pickled eggs, Chapstick and a whole lot more. If this is going to be your one stop of the day, it's not a bad candidate.

Yelp
Best double bacon cheese burger in town! I always get an order of corn nuggets! Call ahead because they are busy!!
google avatar

Jay S.

Yelp
"A Hole in the Wall to beat them all!" Awesome burgers, dogs, and sides in a very inconspicuous place in a not so great seeming area. Hard to describe and they have no equal. No dining area just a small standing room only to grab and go. You'll probably be seeing through the bag by the time you get back to the home or office with it. Jalapeno or Cheddar Chz balls are the best Ive ever had. In fact, everything there is great except the onion rings, which never come out crispy. Downsides for most are its grab and go only, and better call ahead unless you want to wait forever. Keep trying if the phone is busy.
google avatar

Andrew F.

Yelp
Cheap and delicious. Friendly service! Get a double instead of a single as it costs not much extra. Ask for napkins!
google avatar

Charlee H.

Yelp
Great selection of food and it all taste so amazing. It's definitely a classic in Topeka. And the staff are always very nice!

Irene R.

Yelp
Best burgers I've had in awhile. Wow it was so delicious. Wow is all I can say!!! Gotta try it!!
google avatar

Mistie J.

Yelp
What is up with their phone? I call and get a busy signal so call again and no answer. I am trying to take advantage of their delivery now but it's been well over an hour since I placed my order. I can't get a hold of anyone so now I'm forced to go down there and see what the hell?
google avatar

Robert H.

Yelp
Named one of the cleanest restaurants in Topeka with no health code violations in 2013! Their burgers are great, but they do not accept anything but cold hard cash. This is usually a put off for me because i never carry cash on me. That being said the food is great, and worth it.

Jennifer S.

Yelp
Prize package is probably the best cheese burger place in Topeka, but their delivery charges are ridiculous!
google avatar

Eugene T.

Yelp
If you are ever stuck in Topeka Kansas and you want a good burger head down to Harolds Prize Package the burgers are worth the wait. small patties but they fill you up. I actually fought a dude for eating my burger...... Good times

Vernon M.

Yelp
Best Burger in Topeka. I don't know how or why. Maybe some things are just ordained. Hell, best Burger in Topeka or Lawrence. It's like the comfort food of the God's and little Elves or something... There's nothing to do except try a double from there. If it works for you, you'll never forget em!
google avatar

Brad A.

Yelp
I've had burgers from Harold's twice. It's a great 'downhome' burger -- smaller patties with mustard & pickles. This place and Chuckburger are the best in T-town in my book.
google avatar

Kimberly C.

Yelp
Great amazing burgers!! Only reason I put 4 stars is due to the very small, uncomfortable waiting area and long wait. No seating for dine in.
google avatar

Robyn S.

Yelp
Yesterday was my first time at this amazing place. I have lived in Topeka for 6 years and I had not heard of it til recently. I'm sad I didn't start coming here sooner. The food was amazing. Amazing. I have told everyone I come in contact with about it. I can't wait to try breakfast!
google avatar

Robert M.

Yelp
One of the best burgers in town. Take out only!! Many people just eat in their cars. Lots of to go orders called in, and usually there is a line so be prepared to wait. One of those places only locals know about.
google avatar

Scott G.

Yelp
I was in there yesterday July 11th and I witnessed what I assume to be the owner of the place belittle law enforcement for taking to long to arrive after a call she place. I will say after dealing with the young gal that took my order I would understand why she has multiple people a month creating problems in the place. Very rude. Will not return.

Kevin L.

Yelp
Simply the best burger joint in Topeka. Little hole in the wall place that serves the cheeseiest and most delicious burgers in town. My standard order is two double cheeseburgers with either fried cauliflower or fried mushrooms. The burgers are not huge. You will want two doubles if you are a hungry dude. The prices are very reasonable too. You won't be disappointed.
google avatar

TREASY H.

Yelp
All I can say is Harolds Prize Package is the bomb I love this place! We will travel from the West coast anyday for this place. My family loves this place it will surely be a nice treat. The cheeseburgers are the greatest and the cheese balls and the oakra balls.

Dawn W.

Yelp
After reading great reviews, my family wanted to try Prize Package. To be honest, it is mindblowing that people love this place. The second I got out of the car, I felt as though I could get mugged. Moreover, there is only a very small standing area with no air conditioning. It's completely chaotic and unorganized. I waited forever just to have my order taken while people almost trampled over us to cut in front of us. One lady actually hit me and my four year old with the door, which knocked him flat on the ground and I fell in a lady's lap while she sat on the bench waiting for her food. The lady had more than enough room to open the door without knocking people over. It's confusing why the door swings into the building instead of outside when the inside area is about the size of a jail cell. Also, the girl taking orders was in such a hurry, she was in no mood to answer questions or make sure our order was complete. Moreover, this place lacks friendliness and a welcoming vibe. The absolute most appalling aspect of this place is the inappropriate attire of the staff. The women were barely covered. Even worse, I heard costumer after customer commenting. The attire of the staff creates an environment that is not at all family friendly. I was appalled by the crude comments my children heard simply because the staff was not properly dressed. It's pretty disgusting. Before I discuss the food, I should began by saying that even if this place prepared the best food in the entire world, I would not have noticed because I was so turned off by the restaurant itself. We ordered, 3 double cheeseburgers, 1 single cheeseburger, 2 orders of cheese balls, 3 pickle spears, an order of onion rings, and an order of fries. The price was just over $23, which is an amazing deal. We enjoyed the cheese balls and onion rings, although they are not the best I've had. I thought the pickle spears were okay, but they are insanely priced at $1.00 for a small spear. Plus, my husband who is a fried pickle fan hated them. None of us liked the fries. My little ones, my teenage son, and I really enjoyed the burgers. I cannot say they are the best, but I liked them. My husband however, who never even seen the restaurant requested that I never bring food home from Prize Packagae again. He described the burger as a burnt to the crisp super thin grease patty. Also, the double burger is made of two very thin patties. It is nearly impossible to tell that they are actually separate patties. I ordered 3 double burgers and 1 single burger and could not tell the difference. At first I thought they messed my order up, but I am not sure there is a difference between the single and double burger other than the price. My family has no plans to ever return to Prize Package. https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g60747-d1735856-r389435335-Prize_Package-Topeka_Kansas.html#

Yelp
The food is good, but the customer service is terrible. I have been there quite a few times because I work nearby but have been very disappointed lately. The last two times I have gone they have either lost my order or have been at least a half an hour over their quoted time on a to-go order. I will not be going back again.

Yelp
Prize Package has always been a local favorite since I was a kid. Best burger in town and family-owned. Make sure to order ahead..

Stephanie M.

Yelp
Been going to Harold's since Harold was alive. There's a reason this place is still around. It's great in every way possible. Don't be a fool, go there and eat one of everything!
