The Biggest New Restaurant Openings in D.C., April 2025 | Eater DC

"A divey new bar that transformed a former space just in time for baseball season; owner Daniel Kramer offers $4 select beers at all times, fun shooters, no-frills cocktails, and fare like honey-bourbon baby back ribs, a PBJ with bacon, and complimentary popcorn. Walls are adorned with everything from D.C. sports memorabilia to vintage wooden skis, and the bar opens at 5 p.m. (and earlier for all Nationals Park games, concerts, and F1 races)." - Tierney Plumb

Stopped by Problem Child after a DC Defenders game at Audi Field because I had not seen it before, and the name spoke to me. ;-) Very casual place. Lots of seating indoors and outdoors. They request you order from the bar, so just be prepared for that, especially if there are also a lot of people seated at the bar. The menus are standard pub fare but are also diverse enough to satisfy most. They also feature a brunch menu on the weekends 11am-4pm. We ordered buffalo wings and two of their smash burgers along with a beer each. Everything was really good. I do wish my cell service had been better inside, so I could have checked out recommendations from other diners, but it didn't work out and I could not find a wifi option written anywhere. Oh, well. Other fun facts: they have three gender neutral bathrooms, which was great, no line, no waiting. They also add a 20% tip automatically into your bill, which they say goes directly to their employees, and they told us that when they rang up our bill, so we were aware. Overall, we had a good time and would come back. Thanks!

The only thing good about this night was Thomas at the door....I've already given my review of how I came across the street from my house just to check out the karaoke, and there's a lot of biases and I asked the bartender to watch my stuff and white lady's over there spilling on her drink on my fur coat and the black guy with her wants to take the charge. And then the karaoke guy I tipped him $10 he said you could sing anytime. When I go back to sing he says no more singing tonight okay. Then I turn around and everybody else is singing. AWFUL EXPERIENCE AND NOW I GOT TO LOOK OUT MY WINDOW AND REMIND MYSELF OF THE WORST BIRTHDAY. I MEAN I LOVE ALL PEOPLE BUT ALL PEOPLE DON'T LOVE BLACK SKIN AND I WALKED IN THAT DOOR. SO GO AT YOUR OWN RISK IF YOU ARE INDIGENOUS A FREE BLACK AMERICAN.

Ok, so I WANT to love this bar. Good drinks, reasonable prices and dog friendly! The thing is, I really want it to have more of a neighborhood bar feel. Especially after I learned it was a recently affiliated Bills bar! (GO Bills)! But the Bills flag is tucked away in a corner near the kitchen so not many people know this. Recommendation to management: 1.) put a Bills flag out front to bring more fans in. 2.) deck the bar out in more Bills swag 3.) Add a few more drafts to the menu. Will be back on a Sunday for a Bills game!

Made a reservation through Resy to watch the F1 race with friends only to learn that they weren’t accepting reservations when we arrived. This was surprising since I received a text prompting me to confirm the reservation too. Seems like new management pivoted this spot from a unique location to watch any big event with good food and drinks to just another bar

Wow. Wasn’t expecting this to be awesome but it surely was. Hubby liked the draft beers. I liked the espresso martinis. We shared the nachos with chicken. Casual, fun, simple. My new Navy Yard go to spot.

Stopped by Problem Child before the Chris Brown concert recently and the food was so good. It came out quickly despite having many people in there and it was BINGO night too. Everyone was friendly and the vibe was great. Will definitely return if I'm in the area.

Once Duke's Groceries, Problem Child is a great rebrand for Navy Yard. A stone's throw from Nats Park and the Metro, Problem Child is a large space with a full bar of cocktails, beer on tap, hard cider, wine, and bar food. The owner is passionate about what he's built in D.C. for many years and knows his regulars well. One standout is that Problem Child often hosts neighborhood events like trivia and even Survivor watch parties on occasion. A highlight for me is their jello shot. So good!

We came here from a local recommendation. Great dive bar. Milk, the bartender was witty. We nerded out on books. I had the chicken Caesar wrap and sweet potato fries. It hit the spot. Great place to watch a game or grab drinks before the game. Highly recommend if your in the area.

Yelp
I'm hoping my experience here is an anomaly. The setup is fun with a nice outdoor seating area and a quirky interior. I got a sprite which cost $5 which was a bit too expensive. I asked the bartender for popcorn and she said "uh, no" which I found to be quite rude. They were going to make it later but I would've just appreciated if she had just said that... I did get their nachos which I enjoyed. Hopefully my next experience is more pleasant.

Yelp
Came for some drinks before the Nats game. Was a Saturday afternoon and the garage doors were open - was pretty warm in there. They have some good drink deals. Sat at the bar, bartender was friendly. Didn't try any food. Tabs already include 20% service charge, menu states 100% goes to employees.

Yelp
Name change and a bit of a menu reduction from dukes grocery but generally pretty similar with some more of the more reasonable drink specials on the block.

Yelp
Relaxed atmosphere to watch football games and solid food. Robin is one of the best bartenders in DC. I highly recommend.

Yelp
This place is fantastic and has a real neighborhood community vibe. All items on the menu are done to perfection and are delicious, I have tried everything and have always been satisfied. The steak and cheese is fabulous, perfectly seasoned and is definitely thin sliced ribeye, not tough steak or ground beef like other places offer. The staff is friendly and attentive. There's a reason that my friends and I are regulars.

Yelp
We're Nats season plan holders and have stopped in after 2 recent games. Both times, we sat at the bar for at least 15 mins and were completely ignored by the bar staff. We're both 60+ and noticed the bartenders concentrated on serving the younger patrons...who probably didn't tip them. We left, went across the street to Tom's which had much better service. Won't be back and will pass this info on to our friends at the ballpark.

Yelp
The ribs - unbelievable. Fall off the bone tender and delicious! Elote was good, spicy, maybe better served off the cob as it was a bit messy but the ribs made it all more than worthwhile!!
