The Best Coffee Shops in Denver | Eater Denver

"Billing itself as a “craft coffeehouse and apprenticeship program,” this Elyria Swansea nonprofit shop (with a second location in Globeville) mentors young adults from the surrounding neighborhoods in the art and business of the barista. When they’re not availing themselves of the drive-thru, regulars make themselves at home in the bright and airy space over coconut lattes, white chocolate mochas, or nitro cold brews and perhaps a waffle or breakfast torta. Feel-good energy abounds." - Ruth Tobias

First time trying! Stopped in for a quick to-go coffee. Was pleasantly surprised that they have their own little parking lot and the inside is very light and simplistic which is pretty good for some WFH there. Got a lavender latte and overall it tasted pretty good. I'd say solid 4.6 for me as Denver has some pretty outstanding coffee shops. Will likely come back to try some other stuff on the menu.

Google
Prodigy Coffeehouse Globeville feels almost random...but every neighborhood needs a cute little place. Here's hoping my area one day gets one! But with that being said, Prodigy is a full of light, with a welcoming air and tons of space. Not only do they have outdoor seating for warm days, they have plenty of seating inside (even though it was all full while I was there). However, they do ask for no pets (not sure if that only means indoors), but I did see a sign on their door specifying only service animals. Annd they also have a meeting room (equipped with a TV) that you can reserve, which for some reason I find really cool! Now to the important part :) One of the baristas recommended the honey cinnamon latte, something I never would have picked out myself AND it's not a combination I come across often so I decided to give it a try. While it wasn't my favorite, I did grow on me...until the bottom where the cinnamon becomes overwhelming. But I also ordered the Coconut Cabana tea (which they were sadly out of after I ordered), but another barista let me smell some of the other teas to pick from and I found one I super loved! I remember it had Boulder in the title but I'm actually terrible and don't remember the full name. Now my favorite part of this place was the veggie breakfast burrito. Oh my gosh it was so freaking delicious and you can pick a green or red chili sauce for dipping on the side. I will seriously dream about it because it was so mouthwatering!

Google
I love all Prodigy’s locations but this one is my favorite! The vibe is great and they’re always playing music that makes me feel at home. The baristas have such bubbly personalities and I always feel welcomed. My go to is a caramel oat milk cappuccino and every time it’s made to perfection! The raspberry cream cheese croissant is also soooooo good. Keep up the great work Prodigy!

Cute coffee shop. Brew batch coffee or espresso with high class pastries from local bakeries. Impressed by their "community space", looks like a two table meeting room with a display screen for presentations. Good space to spread out and work on laptop or enjoy relaxing with friends.

Google
Decent coffee, great atmosphere — but the service needs serious work. Prodigy has a lot going for it: the coffee is solid, and the space itself is bright, clean, and inviting. It’s the kind of place you’d want to sit and enjoy a cup or get some work done — in theory. Unfortunately, the experience is soured by the service. In hospitality, the keyword is hospitality. A warm greeting, a simple smile, or even a friendly “how’s your day going?” can make all the difference. What I experienced instead was cold, disinterested staff who barely acknowledged I was there. No eye contact, no engagement, and certainly no effort to make me feel welcome. It’s hard to fully enjoy the coffee and ambiance when the human element is lacking. A café is more than just beans and décor — it’s about connection and creating a welcoming environment. If Prodigy can bring that same energy to their customer service as they do to their branding and space, this place could easily become a favorite. Until then, it’s an okay stop — but not a memorable one.

Google
literally what the hell is this. every single time i go in, my iced espresso is made wrong. i ask to add white mocha, and either they add none or none of the white mocha is incorporated. on one order, the shots were so underextracted and bitter, it was disgusting. don’t waste your time on their bad service either.

Google
Probably the best coffee we've had in several months! Great service and a very cool spot. Outdoor seating and plenty of space inside to sit and work.

Google
I tried to walk in 30 minutes after they opened and the door was locked. The employees stared at me blankly and went to look for a key I suppose. After they finally opened the door for me I greeted them with a "good morning" but they wouldn't even acknowledge me. I asked "is the mocha pretty sweet?" The employee taking my order said 'i don't know, I would assume so.' I asked for them to make my drink extra sweet. They did not. My drink was not sweet at all. They spoke very quietly and I had to ask multiple times for them to repeat themselves. I felt very unwelcome. Will not be returning.

Yelp
Great service, delicious drinks, and of course parking! I have been to the other location many times, but wanted to check out Globeville and absolutely loved the space and the vibe. Taking back roads, this is very close to my pilates studio so I will absolutely be back for a perfect chai tea latte, and perhaps even one of the scrumptious pastries!

Yelp
Really wanted to like this place but the service was just not good this morning. Maybe it was an off day or something? My partner ordered a drip coffee and I got a white raspberry mocha. We also got a cookie they said they would warm up. We brought journals/books so we were reading and writing for at least 15min. I noticed the staff just standing around talking and doing other things. Honestly think they forgot about us even though the shop wasn't busy. My partner had to go up and ask them to change our order to to-go since we already spent a longer time waiting than expected and wanted to get on the road. Finally got our drinks and cookie and headed out. My partners drip coffee tasted like bean water, super watery and bland. We've been to the other Prodigy before and it was good so maybe just a bad experience here.

Yelp
Such a fun spot! The second I walked in, it smelled like fall- it was heavenly. I love the concept of Prodigy and their staff were friendly and welcoming. My drink was delicious as well! I tried one of their seasonal flavors- brown sugar, it was lovely. May be a new regular spot for me! Cheers!

Yelp
I've been to the other location, so it was time to visit this Prodigy Coffeehouse. This is a great spot with lots of seating and a community space. The baristas are very friendly and fast here. I had a cappuccino with almond milk that was okay - a little bitter, unfortunately. It looked pretty though! They had some gluten free granola bars, thank you, but it'd be nice to have some burrito or sandwich options too.

Yelp
Great establishment tucked behind a gas station. Love their motto and platform. Their chai tea was delicious and staff is very hospitable. Their white mocha was not too sweet and made just to my liking. If it's open opt for prodigy instead of Starbucks if you are in the neighborhood.

Yelp
I love that they have kombucha and my husband said his macchiato here was better than at Blue Sparrow. The atmosphere is really cute with lot of plants. Watch out in the spring because there are silkworms hanging from the trees outside the building.

Yelp
Well had to try out this coffee house and catch up on emails. I am sad to say I was not impressed with the service, pasteries sold out by 9:30, coffee was cold (I asked for a regular hot cup of coffee and room for cream (pretty standard), huh? Instead, I received a cup of milk little coffee and when I asked if they could pour a little out and add more coffee...the look and rolling of wyes was awful! When I asked for plastic ware to eat my burrito, I was told they don't have any and use my hands!! I gave 2 stars for the ample room accommodations to sit and soft music to take or make a call. Maybe it was a bad day but I won't be back to find out!

Yelp
okay, i wish i could give 5 stars, but honestly the service was a little rude. the shop is comfy and neat. the music wasn't too loud. the coffee was GREAT! the barista was unhappy, never made eye contact, and just overall rude. i don't need ALL the energy in the world but at least show some joy. it's contagious and i left feeling a little more bummed out than when i got there. again, coffee was great!

Yelp
Delicious coffee and a nice place to sit outside and enjoy the morning! The surrounding area is sketchy but the coffeehouse itself is super clean and nice.

Yelp
I'm a huge prodigy fan - I usually go to their other location but I started staying at a different hotel in Denver and this one was closer. It's so cute inside!! Much more space, still clean and modern aesthetic. They are always super quick. The best coffee in Denver, and great breakfast options. I'll always prefer them over chains!

Yelp
Wow, I was not expecting such an amazing cappuccino! You could really appreciate the beans with such a well done espresso shot. The drip coffee was delicious as well. It's a beautiful building with an amazing interior perfect for working. It wasn't busy at all when we were there. It was one of the best coffee places I've been in Denver.

Yelp
Had the horchata and it was so sweet and delicious. The vibe was very chill, perfect to work on your laptop.

Yelp
My first cup of good coffee in Denver. It had been a good week since my last cold brew in Los Angeles. It was everything I hoped for. Great decor inside too.

Yelp
The coffee is really good and the vibe is cute. BUT the man that rang us up on our first visit today(bigger man wearing a yellow shirt with buzzed hair) was so incredibly unhappy to be there working. Zero customer service from him at all. Guy making coffee was sweet and helpful though.

Yelp
This coffeehouse feels in a super random spot and in a random building. But when you enter it has a nice vibe and a surprisingly large space. I ended up having a coffee and their vegetarian burrito. The coffee tasted good and the burrito was fine. They seem to have a really great mission behind their shops and coffee. Ultimately, I would return.

Yelp
Delicious coffee, fantastic house made chai, and spot on breakfast burritos! Staff knows how to steam a proper espresso. Modern western decor - nice spot for a breakfast!

Yelp
Truly can't say enough good things about this spot! I loved how bright and airy it was - with all the white paint and colorful touches, it almost gives off a Mediterranean vibe. The baristas are incredible - great recommendations, very friendly, and serving awesome drinks! I tried the honey cinnamon latte and the ham and cheese torta, and both were great. From a remote work perspective, this is a good option to work for a few hours from! It didn't get too crowded while I was there, and the tables are the perfect size for a compact remote work setup. Outlets are a little sparse, so come with a charged laptop and be prepared to leave when you need to recharge.

Yelp
Grateful this spot was open early on our way to the airport! Plenty of seating and lobby was well kept. They offer a handful of homemade syrups and they make their own chai. I got a shot of espresso and drip coffee. The espresso was a great balance of sweet and bright. I appreciate the barista took an extra second to pull a quality shot. The drip was light and I couldn't taste much, but that could be because I drank the spro first which is always richer. I love to support local small businesses, especially ones offering personal development to young adults.

Yelp
Wow- what a great little place! My toddler and I went in last week after dropping our pup at daycare for tea and books. It's super clean inside and we were immediately greeted by the friendly barista. They didn't have peppermint tea (his favorite) but he got over his disappointment quickly once we found out they had PINK LEMONADE TEA (I was skeptical, but it's actually really good). In fact, he drank the whole tea by himself and has brought up going back several times. I had a chai, which was deliciously spicy and just the right amount of sweet. We shared an almond bear claw and it was simply delightful. They have a variety of other pastry (all of which looked yummy) as well as breakfast burritos and homemade waffles. Their coffees looked really good too, so maybe I'll go that route next time- especially since I know that my little guy is going to want to drink his whole tea by himself!!

Yelp
My partner and I are visiting Denver and I work remotely. My favorite places to hang out and work are cool cafes with awesome lattes and a nice vibe. I searched for cafes near me and checked out the website for this one. Before even going to the cafe I was in love with their mission -empowering youth by providing them with a craft and teaching them business management skills that will help them throughout their professional lives. Check them out! We need more places like this. As for the coffee and vibe of the place, I am a bit of a picky person when it comes to my mocha lattes, and this place delivered. So good! The atmosphere is great for getting work done. The music is loud enough that you won't want to listen to music on headphones, and it may be a little loud for a conference call. But it was great for me. Well done, Steph (Founder) and team! Thank you for all that you're doing. -Josh

Yelp
Tasty coffee, spacious environment. Love the mission of supporting youth. Highly recommended!

Yelp
On the outside the white rustic building feels like a drive thru only In and Out. The inside, a warm coffee shop energy with 90s hip hop playing in the background. Coffee, great. Burritos, fine. Seating, FANTASTIC! Feels like they made this place with coffee shop lingeries in mind. Plenty of places to sit with electric plugs and decent Wi-Fi. If you're teetering the idea between Prodigy and another cafe, I'd note this location is in a gentrified neighborhood. It's great to support a business that's also supporting an up and coming neighborhood

Yelp
Great service and tasty espresso. The ambiance is casual and sunny with good music. I'd say it's a good spot to meet with a friend to chat or to work remotely. AND an awesome company mission! I'll be back.

Yelp
My wife and I love stopping in here every morning before work, we've gone there enough that they know our order and are making it as we walk in the door. The baristas are all amazing and very nice every time.
google avatar

Yelp
Great spot to work at, meet people, or just stop by during a morning walk. Staff is friendly. They have a room available for private use for meetings or presentations. Patio is dog friendly. Coffee has been great each time I have stopped by.

Yelp
Very cool new spot! Everyone was really nice and the drinks were yummy! We ordered a cappuccino, the honey lavender latte and a hot chocolate. They were all perfect!

Wayne W.

Yelp
Went there the first day they opened because I work right down the block and their sign said opening on august but it took till the middle of September. Very nice inside which says someone spent a lot of money. However ordered a large coffee with half and half and sugar and a blueberry muffin. As I drove down the block a sipped it and it was ice cold I had to nuke it when I got to work and the muffin was absolutely horrible. Ok 2 days later let's try it again. Large coffee 3 sugar in the raw and half and half. Wasn't very hot but at least warm. As I was sipping I tasted a few coffee grounds when I got to the office I poured it into another cup and the whole bottom and side was all grounds so into the sink it went. I stopped back the next day and asked for the manager who turned out to be a woman about 21 I told her the problem and brought back the cup to show her and she gave me the deer in the headlight look. Oh well to be honest the coffee isn't that good to warrant another return too bad
