Project 44 - Review - Shoreditch - London - The Infatuation

"Project 44 might sound like an undisclosed government UFO programme, but it’s actually a handy cafe and wine bar in Shoreditch. But ignore the wine bar part. This spot is much better used as a work-from-home upgrade. The sort where sandwiches have been made by Dusty Knuckle Bakery and the wifi never falters. There’s a fun ice box at the till filled with canned matchas and iced coffees for those who can’t linger. But if you can stick around, the benches out front are a charming spot for people-watching, and to eye up the pub opposite for post-5pm plans that involve pints and pints of prawns. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Pause Unmute Food Rundown Croissant A decent flaky, croissant. Do opt for these in the morning, though, when they’re pillowy and fresh. photo credit: Sinéad Cranna" - Sinéad Cranna

Absolutely fab find in Shoreditch. Had coffees and then moved onto wine, staff are so friendly and welcoming, wine list is interesting and have tried a few. Log burning fire is on and the vibe is warm and cosy. There was a table layout change from day to night that was managed smoothly and actually has a more intimate feel for evening service. Sharing plates available, really delicious.

Service was ok Coffee is fine but maybe the beans are a bit too roasted as the regular flat white was stronger and bitter - over roasted The staff however is a bit less friendly. I ordered a morning deal which was supposed to be a coffee and banana bread for 7£. However the staff at the counter charged me a 20% service fee without asking. When inquired why was I not told before - she/he said it’s just what we do - quite strange for a coffee shop to charge a 20% service fee! Banana bread was ok but not great - I am not sure of the other reviewers maybe they are just their friends - I ordered banana bread post reading reviews but tbh it’s not great lol - Try rugged brunch on old street if you really wanna try good banana bread. The staff did not inquire if it needed to be toasted or not. - maybe they are too new to the industry! Place is big so ok to work but don’t expect the usual friendly vibes as from other cafes in Shoreditch !

Best banana bread I’ve ever had and the egg sandwich was just as good! Coffee was amazing and loved the presentation. Loved everything about Project 44, such a good vibe!!

Nice relaxing atmosphere… the staff are very friendly and happy to serve, all with a smile… Even near closing the welcomed people in… What a change from working up to closing time rather than clearing around you 30 minutes before closing… great place and peeps.. Oh,, great banana bread…

Great atmosphere, tasty/moist banana bread and a hot chocolate that dare I say is the best I’ve ever had in London

Project 44 has a wonderfully relaxing atmosphere - the kind of place where you immediately feel at ease. I was lucky enough to visit during their first evening service, and it was an absolute delight. The wine-by-the-glass selection was outstanding, with a thoughtful focus on London-made wines that really stood out. It’s rare to see such a well-curated offering, and it made the experience feel both unique and exciting. A fantastic spot for unwinding with great wine and great vibes. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

Really nice place to hang out! The coffee is not bad but what really stands out is the banana bread (I think they use dusty knuckle as their bakery supplier).

Would highly recommend the wine evenings at Project 44 on Thursdays - Saturdays. A really interesting wine list, great food and a really lovely friendly atmosphere. Thank you Project for being ‘the icing on the cake’ after our wedding dress shopping ❤️
