This was my first time eating here and I was skeptical the vegan based chicken would be any good. I ordered the Nashville chicken sandwich topped with coleslaw, tater tots, and a soda.
We were greeted as soon as we entered, staff was friendly and ready to answer any questions. When we informed them it was my first time eating there they made recommendations, and said if I wasnt happy with that I ordered they would replace it.
The menu consists mostly of chicken products that are vegetable based, but also a few vegan burgers, fries, loaded fries, and tater tots.
The chicken in my sandwich had good flavor, a little bit of grease dripping from it, but it was crispy and hot. The flavor almost fully masked the fact it wasn't chicken, but the texture was closer to processed fish, and was a bit mushy and stringy inside the crispy breaded exterior.
The tater tots were crisp and hot, the loaded fries my friend ordered had good flavor and were topped with a sauce & chopped peppers, and the soda machine was all Maine Root organic sodas. Everything was tasty.
Overall the food came out quick, portion sizes were decent, service was excellent, and everything was crispy and hot, but prices were a bit on the high side. I realize the restaurant donates food to the needy, the containers and straws are (eco friendly) paper based, and all the food is organic or vegan based. The idea behind the restaurant is appealing, but the cost of the meal made me fully aware of what I was paying for. My chicken sandwich, plain tater tots and a soda came out to $12..
While the food was really good and exceeded expectations, the price is probably the deal breaker for me. Id love to try more items, but left with other more affordable options (not being vegan) I don't know I can justify the cost with my current income.
