This was my first time eating here and I was skeptical the vegan based chicken would be any good. I ordered the Nashville chicken sandwich topped with coleslaw, tater tots, and a soda. We were greeted as soon as we entered, staff was friendly and ready to answer any questions. When we informed them it was my first time eating there they made recommendations, and said if I wasnt happy with that I ordered they would replace it. The menu consists mostly of chicken products that are vegetable based, but also a few vegan burgers, fries, loaded fries, and tater tots. The chicken in my sandwich had good flavor, a little bit of grease dripping from it, but it was crispy and hot. The flavor almost fully masked the fact it wasn't chicken, but the texture was closer to processed fish, and was a bit mushy and stringy inside the crispy breaded exterior. The tater tots were crisp and hot, the loaded fries my friend ordered had good flavor and were topped with a sauce & chopped peppers, and the soda machine was all Maine Root organic sodas. Everything was tasty. Overall the food came out quick, portion sizes were decent, service was excellent, and everything was crispy and hot, but prices were a bit on the high side. I realize the restaurant donates food to the needy, the containers and straws are (eco friendly) paper based, and all the food is organic or vegan based. The idea behind the restaurant is appealing, but the cost of the meal made me fully aware of what I was paying for. My chicken sandwich, plain tater tots and a soda came out to $12.. While the food was really good and exceeded expectations, the price is probably the deal breaker for me. Id love to try more items, but left with other more affordable options (not being vegan) I don't know I can justify the cost with my current income.

Amazing food that tastes just like chicken but is not chicken. The look, feel, smell, and taste is just like chicken. Not sure how they do it but it sure is delicious. Most people order at the drive through, but I ordered in and was the only one dining area. Very much enjoyed the sandwich’s here.

I got the strawberry shake which was good! It has oatmilk in it instead and it tastes great. I had the Caesar wrap with grilled chicken which was good as well. I think it can be better if there was more chiken in the wrap. I got the spicy nashville deluxe. Again it’s good. These are good subs if you’re vegan. As someone who isn’t, I still do prefer chick-fil-a because I believe it tastes better. I will say that eating at this place will not get you feeling bloated, which is a good thing from project pollo. So in that sense I do prefer it, for that reason. The drink selection is alright I guess. I would like to see them do their own lemonade or their own signature drink, something unique. As far as the straw and container everything is compost friendly, however, it all gets disposed of in the same garbage bin. That’s a mistake. There should be a separate container for that. Compost material can be used to make mulch. However, if this is all garbage, then it’s just being taken to a landfill and breaking down there. I think the company should look further into how their waste can be used for good. City of San Antonio has green bins that accept organic material. They should look into that.

A vegan chicken place with a drive-thru? One of the things that makes San Antonio special, as just a visitor. This place has the feel of a fast food joint, but without the cruelty and atherosclerotic plaque. Seriously some of the best plant-based chicken I’ve ever had, and they even had a worthwhile gluten-free version of their Project sandwich for my partner that didn’t taste like cardboard. I got the Nashville Hot with cheddar cheese and it was perfect, just the right amount of flavor and a nice background burn from the spice. Also had an order of wings in raspberry barbecue sauce, what an awesome flavor combination. The fries were exceptional. I ended it all with what was the perfect strawberry shake. I hope we one day live in a world where this is nationwide, assuming there’s a planet left a decade from now.

***All vegan and super delicious 🤤 The general manager, Gabriel is doing such an amazing job here! First time stopping in & I cannot say enough good things about our visit. We both had the chipotle chicken wrap in which was light and filling. Also had the strawberry shortcake shake and chocolate shake and oh my- perfect way to balance that meal!

Surprisingly Different My wife and I found this place from a coupon that came in the mail. We were blinded by the no purchase necessary statement on the coupon(probably wouldn’t have gone if we didn’t have the coupon) and didn’t even realize it was vegan. Even with statements like “we don’t give a cluck” or “plant base chickn” it didn’t click till we went up to order. We honestly were taken away with how the food was. The Nashville was almost impossible to tell the difference you could definitely tell the difference in the original. Additionally we got the dirty birdy Mac and loaded fries. The loaded fries were better in my opinion. This was a different experience. I would put it in the same category as Earth Burger it’s worth a try if your looking to try vegan food for the first time not necessarily my cup of tea.

Good stuff! I’m no carnivore and I love my fair share of plant based meat alternatives so take this with a grain of salt, but I could not taste a difference between the Project Pollo sandwich and a real-meat chicken sandwich. Additionally, I have heard a few stories of non-vegans ordering from here thinking it’s real chicken and not tasting a difference as well. It’s a bit on the pricey side, but I was stoked to see Maine Root soda. Also: go with the fries over the Tetris tots.

This place was INSANELY good. Staff was super nice, food was all delicious, place was clean. It had my omni boyfriend sitting back and exclaiming how we have to come back here every day for our entire trip. The soda was surprisingly good as well, the lime and orange especially. They have a pay-what-you-can item on the menu and a donation box for menstrual products so they seem like they do a lot for the community, it was really nice to see. Hope to see them in other cities as well!
