I've been a Pronto Pup junkie for over 55 years, I don't think I've missed a summer (or winter weekend) visit yet! I am not a corn dog fan, But these are something special & different, Love the thin breading and can't get enough! (Really, See photos. Haha!) The staff is always friendly and helpful, even when the line is crazy long. another great thing is how they don't take advantage of bumps in the economy by jacking up their prices. they have been the same small price for years. Keeping it classy! Keep up the great work Pronto Pup, See you soon!

CASH ONLY - last time I was there FYSA. Some things in life are worth waiting for... some things are not...Pronto Pups is by far worth waiting for!! Great small town feel, high quality food with amazing service. Seriously the staff is what makes this place. If your a local or just visiting Grand Haven I would highly suggest checking out Pronto Pup!

Visited this place 4 years ago and could not forget about it since then. My initial expectation of a hot dog stand in a touristy area was really low, but immediately fell in love after my first bite. Visited again last year. Their hot dogs were quite unique - they were wrapped by a very thin layer of batter and then fried, therefore crispy outside and juicy inside yet much lighter and meaty compared with corndogs. They reminded me so much of the grilled hot dogs from my childhood in China (烤肠). They were just perfect somehow - I am not sure what is the secret ingredient but just so comforting and happy to eat them after swimming in the lake. The girls at the stand were really friendly and cute despite being busy with long lines of customers. Needless to say the price is surprisingly cheap and stable over these years while everything has become much more expensive. I find the owners greatly admirable–with their long lines of waiting, inflow of tourists, cute-looking food and beautiful owners with family inheritance, they have all the elements to become a "trendy Ins" place and charge much more per pup. Instead, they keep offering their amazing food for low prices over decades. Honestly restaurants in Grand Haven are really horrible (even compared to other small towns in the US) but Pronto Pup really stands out to be one of the most impressive places I've been to across the country. What a wonderful long-run food stand, and I hope you will open forever by the serene Lakeshore.

Google
Friendly girls greeted us and we tried this local treat. The pups are deliciously simple and perfect. We ate them multiple times this week. This is definitely a repeat while we're here.

Google
Awesome spot to get some really good corn dogs. I've been going for decades. Prices are good and you usually don't have to wait too long. I don't like that the owner has some far right views and have heard them say some not pleasant things before, but the review is for the food

Google
We absolutely love Pronto Pup! It's so fun to walk to the little stand and watch them batter and deep fry the corn dogs right there. They are super affordable and just a unique fun meal/ snack. They are a bit different from regular corn dogs. Just great!

Kianna Cook

Google
Very cute, local stand. Love the affordability. They only have a couple tables outside but there are so many benches and picnic tables along the trail, you shouldn’t have a problem finding a nice spot to eat.

Google
This little Hut is right next to the beach in harbor Park. They have all kinds of hot dogs and a corn dog. I did get a corn dog with Coney sauce. I will say the coney sauce was a little on the dry side that day. The fries good and we did have a frozen drink. That was really good. It is a small little Hut so it does take some time for them to get your food ready or your drinks. There's picnic tables right there next to the beach where you can bring your dog and sit and eat your lunch

Yelp
If you're in Grand Haven, stopping at Pronto Pups is a must! This little stand is legendary for a reason--their batter-dipped hot dogs are simple, delicious, and totally worth the wait. The line might look long, but don't let that scare you off--it moves fast, and the fresh, crispy Pronto Pup you get at the end is worth every second. The batter is light and perfectly golden, with just the right amount of crunch. No frills, no extras--just a classic, done right. Cash only, so come prepared! And trust me, once you have one, you'll probably want another. Perfect for a quick bite while strolling the boardwalk. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Is it necessarily important to visit this quaint little stand while vibing on Harbor Dr?! Yes. Is it the simplest of selections?! Yes. Are the corn dogs really that good?! Yes. Why is it such a cliche thing to do?! The team members are friendly, fast, and fun! Standing in line meeting folx from all over is also fun. The concept is a winning one and it's a must try! Cash only and expect a lil wait :)

Yelp
I don't really like corn dogs. I grew up eating those heavily battered frozen ones that turn out to be extremely dry and sad. With that in mind, on my first visit to Grand Haven several years back, I was hesitant to join the long line that I saw forming in front of this stand along the boardwalk. But I thought hey, at only $1.75 each, might as well give it a try. That one visit made me a fan. On my most recent visit on a weekend afternoon, I found a line almost 40 people deep waiting for these delicious corn dogs. The employees work very quickly - hot dog on a stick, dip into batter, and fry. Once you order, they take a brush and paint the pup with your choice of condiment(s). They continuously have corn dogs coming out, almost like a factory line, and it only takes a few seconds to gather one up to hand out to hungry customers. It took around 25 minutes for us to reach the front, with most customers ahead of us ordering 3-4 skewers each. Pronto Pup ($1.75) - The quality is still there. A hot and steaming hot dog dipped into pancake batter, fried, and slathered with your choice of ketchup and/or mustard. The breading is light and thin with a delicate crisp - almost more similar to tempura rather than the more traditional corn meal breading. The inside hot dog is piping hot and moist. It's salty, which is perfect to replace the electrolytes lost while waiting in the sun. It's simple but delicious. And it's so easy to down three or four of these if you're not careful. Pronto Pup - the lines are long, but the wait is worth it. It's a perfect snack to chomp on as you walk along the boardwalk.

Yelp
It's a charming little food stand. Line was long but it moved really fast. So I love corn dogs, like really love them. When I heard about this place I was super excited, only to be disappointed. This may be just a case of personal preference. I found the dogs to be underwhelming because of the lack of corn bread. I mean, this is what makes a corn dog amazing and they just have a. Very thin coating. I found it to be too greasy also. Definitely recommend that you try it for yourself, but it just wasn't my cup of tea.

Vincent T.

Yelp
We tried the famous pronto pups when we vacationed a few weeks ago. Definitely a cool experience and the staff is super friendly and efficient! You'll definitely have to get a few to get full! 10/10 would recommend trying for the experience of a local spot.

Loretta S.

Yelp
let me tell you... IT IS SO WORTH THE WAIT!!! ive been coming here for years, look forward to pronto pups every summer!! drive 12 hours to get them :) workers are always kind, ive never experienced someone rude working there. cash only :)

Steve K.

Yelp
Said they were open till 8pm.. walked up at 515pm as someone was walking away with their order. They said they were closed cause they weren't busy enough yet I was cash in hand ready to order. Just shitty customer service.

Brian S.

Yelp
We have been visiting the Grand Haven area for many years now but have never had the opportunity to eat at Pronto Pups. We had heard amazing things but would always pass on waiting in the long lines. That said we finally tried them this weekend. The dogs were good but not great. Reality couldn't match how I had built the place up in my mind.

Pam R.

Yelp
An institution my entire life. Nothing changes. Just have cash, it's a good cheap lunch. Only negative last visit - we were accounted by political extremists who were trying to indoctrinate us in to their crazy beliefs - while wearing a shirt with language I'd prefer my grandchildren not be exposed to on vacation (or anytime). People kept telling them (two old white men) we don't vote here, but they were on a mission to drive people out of Grand Haven. We won't be back until the political disaster in Ottawa County is corrected.

Austin M.

Yelp
Great little beach beach spot! Only corn dogs and soda but great prices and great food. Also cash only!

Kitty K.

Yelp
Pronto pups is a spot in Grand Haven you must try! It is so much more than a corn dog, it is a game changer. The Pronto Pup has a light corn bread coating with the smear of your choice: ketchup or mustard. Super simply, super easy, super yummy! I see some people walking away with ten tucked in their fingers! I stuck with one, my boy grabbed up two. We decided we could easily have polished off 3-5 easily if we were choosing Pronto Pup as a meal. We decided to grab it as an appetizer before shoving off to the next local fare in Grand Haven. Please try Pronto Pups, it is proprietary. You may never find another one like this amazing little shop! You will always have this place on your mind! It's THAT good!

Enn Q.

Yelp
Never did I ever think I'd be promoting the sale of corn dogs, but here I go. I love this place. Tiny little shack next to Snug Harbor on the shores leading to Lake Michigan. During Winter fest, I made it my business to support THIS business when I lived in Spring Lake. These are good people doing good things. I support them. I'll take 3....

David O.

Yelp
This place is amazing. Line is sometimes long but worth the wait. If you're going out to Grand Haven boardwalk, this place is a must. Good food and the staff are VERY friendly.

Cookie K.

Yelp
Oh boy oh boy Pronto Pups where do I begin. I have a very complicated relationship with this corn dog establishment. It all started years ago when i tried a pup for the very first time. I must say I was not pleased and my main concern was the extreme amount of saltiness that were floating around but anyway i recently went back and ordered a plain Pronto Pup and I immediately took my first bite and I was pleasantly surprised by when I tasted what can only be described as a corn dog entering my mouth and not just no ordinary corn dog but a Pronto Pup corn dog. With all of this i would say this restaurant deserves a 4 star review but there is one factor that drops it down a star. I was ordering and i glanced to the left and I saw a shirt that said "Don't You Wish Your Weiner Looked This Good After 77 Years" Wow just wow I was completely shocked and I could not believe what I was seeing I mean what kind of place is this I have 3 young children how should I explain this to them. I'm disappointed... -Cookie K.

Yelp
I've passed by this little stand several times this winter, but finally had a chance to stop once they were open and the lines weren't halfway around the block. This is a cute place.. only big enough for a fryer, fountain coke machine and two employees. Cash only and each pronto pup is $1.75. Made to order and two make a great snack or a meal if you aren't that hungry! One of the best "corn dogs" I've had in a long time. Light on the breading but absolutely delicious!

Kristen M.

Yelp
We enjoyed our Pronto Pups and ice-cold Coke after a few hours on the beach! Service with a smile, perfectly prepared pups made our experience excellent!

Cassidy P.

Yelp
Such a great little snack to grab while in Grand Haven! Service was super good as well.

Matt H.

Yelp
Not worth the wait. Plenty of other businesses to spend your money at in the downtown area.

Sandy T.

Yelp
It's a tiny yellow shack located right in front of another restaurant called Smug Harbor. Notice: CASH ONLY. Pronto pups is a must when in Grand Haven, but beware of the long line you'll have to endure to get your hands on one of these puppies. Average wait of 20-30 mins is likely, but worth it. Bring shade if you do decide to wait in line. One pronto pup goes for $1.75. The hot dog is as can be expected, but the batter? It is perfectly crispy with the right amount of thickness (or thinness rather), setting it apart from ordinary corn dogs. The only other thing on the menu is pop and water bottles at 50¢ for a small cup and $1 for a large. Condiment options include ketchup and/or mustard. I'd recommend double ketchup. The mustard was rather sour.

George N.

Yelp
The Pup for open winter pup-cravers.!! It was worth the trip and the nice wait in line. The girls did a great job to prepare and cook the dogs. Absolutely delicious

Andrew S.

Yelp
Reading some of the one star reviews just for laughs. This place is what it is. The best place to get the best corn dog in the world. That's the point! No sides, hand dipped, ketchup and mustard options. When you see lines this long it's not because the food sucks. Anytime we come to Grand Haven we have at least a couple pronto pups corn dogs.

Karley M.

Yelp
You simply can't miss Pronto Pups if in Grand Haven. The line alone should tell you how amazing this place is. They serve one dogs. For $1.75. That's it. What else could you need? They're so lightly breaded and crispy, bites of heaven on a stick. For a meal you'd need a couple to fill you up. I will never pass it up when in town visiting.

Gerg P.

Yelp
Weenie on a stick! You pay for the souvenir STICK! It's one quality stick! Simple thin beef(?) weenie with a pencil size stick. Flour type batter, thin coating, with choice of ketchup or a mustard smear on side of the skinny weenie. Could use a dinner Frank such as Costco's to match the massive wooden stick. You can use the huge stick as a weapon for self defense. !!!

Sherwin C.

Yelp
Pronto pup makes only one dish but it makes this one dish well. A pronto pup is a hot dog dipped in a pancake batter and deep fried. This is quick quickly in front of you and served with your choice of ketchup or mustard. The batter is very thin and very crisp with a hot dog that is tender and tasty. This is a perfect food-on-a-stick to enjoy while taking a walk in the Grand Haven area. Simple, delicious, inexpensive.

Jordan B.

Yelp
It doesn't look like much but the line down the side walk tells you it's something magical. Pronto Pups is the perfect beach side lunch or quick dinner. They are light, crisp, and not at all greasy. You really will regret it if you just get one. Also don't let the length of the line fool you because it moves super fast.

Ashley O.

Yelp
Tried this on our way out of town after hearing everyone rave about it and seeing a long line daily. It is unlike a typical corn dog in the sense that the breading is very very thing, like paper thin. It also doesn't have much flavor so it definitely requires ketchup or mustard. I know every town has its staple, so I get that locals that grew up with it love it, but it was just meh.

Kennedy B.

Yelp
Pronto Pups. A classic Grand Haven location known and loved by all who visit. Their menu is simple- a fried hotdog on a stick, with your choice of ketchup or mustard slapped on. Also available are small soft drink cups. This menu comes with a small investment of 1.75 per dog. You truly cannot beat it. I have been visiting this establishment for many years & every now and then I make the 45 minute trip to grand haven to have a Pronto Pup. You may notice a line upon arriving to this small shack (there is no indoor seating, but many places to sit around the building). Don't be fooled by the line, the staff is extremely fast & efficient. I have yet to have a poor experience here & it is a must when visiting the Grand Haven area. Be sure to have cash- THEY ARE CASH ONLY!!

Kristina T.

Yelp
Warning- do NOT order only ONE. Unless you are two years old- or have had lap band surgery. You're welcome- order 3-5. Don't miss out on this place when you visit Grand Haven, you will be kicking yourself... even if you usually don't like corn dogs, these are in a whole other category.

White C.

Yelp
CASH ONLY. SUMMARY: The dogs themselves were...edible. The rest is good. There's a line here, but it moves quickly. The cash only works out well enough, because the 1.75 per dog price includes tax, so no delay in managing pennies or anything. The service is fast and friendly. You pretty much get your order immediately. They've got the rhythm down -- grab your dog, wrap a napkin very neatly around the base of the stick, expertly hand it off to you so it's easy for you to grab, and if you want mustard or ketchup, they'll paint a bit on for you. The prices here are great. 1.75 per dog, and 1 dollar for a cold pop. I'm truly surprised they're not charging 3 or 4 bucks per dog these days. Is this business the only place not inflating prices? Huge props to them for keeping prices down. It's probably doable because of 1) young staff, 2) tiny location, 3) super cheap ingredients, 4) massive output. It took us maybe 5 minutes to get through a line of 20 people, and pretty much everyone was grabbing 4 dogs or so. I'm sure they do thousands of corndogs per day. The location is great. Beautiful, short walk from downtown, and you can walk from the shop right down to the water, and there's plenty of grass and benches to sit. The worst part -- unfortunately -- is the corndog batter. It's fried well, so it's a pleasant experience. But it's thin, it doesn't seem corn-based, so it's pretty lacking in flavor, and it doesn't add any sweetness. Maybe toss in some sugar? Or a splash of vanilla? Something to add some flavor. I'd be upset if this place was charging more than 1.75 per dog, but since it's fast and cheap and overall a good experience -- and since the owner is apparently red pilled -- I'd definitely recommend stopping by and grabbing a fistful of dogs. They go down easy, so you won't have to worry about spoiling your meal if you plan on eating out.

Rebecca D.

Yelp
This place is beyond incredible. We walked from the beach, about .5 miles. But gosh was it worth it! On a sunny Sunday, around 1PM there was a huge line. The hype was there. I was so excited. We walked up, ordered, and the cashier was so sweet. Asking how we are doing, welcome to pronto pups, etc. The line was long, but we waited about 10 minutes. The pronto pup is basically a corn dog. But very thin battered. Fried fresh. Excellent flavor. Mustard and ketchup brushed on it if you'd like. Why did I wait this long to check this out! The only complaint is they should have more locations!!!!

Yace H.

Yelp
Been going to GH for years and always wanted to try this place but the line and parking issues always make me change my mind. Finally said I'm gonna do it this time. Glad I did. $1.75 for one corn dog? Hell yeah. Get 4. With mustard. Nothing fancy with the hotdog, most likely your generic processed hot dogs from Gordon's Sysco you name it. But the crispness of the batter. The simplicity. Cmon. Can't be beat. Kids loved it too.

Gregg E.

Yelp
Best corn dogs I have had. Crunchy and perfect with your choice of toppings. Yummy!

Donna T.

Yelp
A unique gem of Grand Haven! Must-visit "tourist-y" tiny corndog stand. Real basic-- your under $2 menu for delicious corndogs and sodas. Went here 2x during my trip to visit Grand Haven lake beach. Luckily the line was not as long but I can imagine that it can be a 30+ minutes wait time as they make the food fresh. CASH ONLY but totally worth it! PS: lowkey, no shame in getting 2-3 corndogs for yourself ;)

Jerry G.

Yelp
A visit to Grand Haven is not complete without a visit to Pronto Pups. They are the best in food, service, and courtesy. Always a great experience!

lily s.

Yelp
I only have good things to say about this place! The pronto pups are great. It's worth the long wait workers are always kind and friendly. Not to mention the location is very easy and convenient. One of the best tourist places in grand haven by far!!

Mason J.

Yelp
This place was super cool and had some very quick and friendly service. I really enjoyed that there is just one menu option and they master one thing versus what every other restaurant in the world tries to do. They were so good and fresh. My only regret is I didn't order 5 more!

Ron H.

Yelp
Phenomenal food! Love that so many people desire this so deeply. I really like the menu - everything is tasty!

John P.

Yelp
It's a tradition. Tasty and convenient. Definitely a huge part of the summer in Grand Haven experience.

Abigail W.

Yelp
Pronto Pups are a must when you're in Grand Haven :) On the weekends, expect a very long wait, but luckily for us on a Monday early afternoon, we were able to snatch a couple up quickly. I ended up getting two for myself, one painted with ketchup, the other mustard. The dogs themselves aren't anything fancy. The batter is light and fried up nicely with a slight crunch. Just the dogs & drinks are sold here, cash only.

Charles R.

Yelp
One of our first stops every summer is pronto pups. My boys favorite. The light crispy corn dog are one of a kind. The line has not stopped for 80 years. A must stop if you're visiting Grand Haven.

Tom R.

Yelp
So this place sucks It's because they closed way earlier than anticipated. Hours said 10pm but their storefront said different. Was closed at 9:30pm... Whats up with that

Denisse V.

Yelp
Love Pronto Pups!!! All this is, is a shack that sells delicious hot dogs, fried into what resembles a corn dog, but they don't use corn batter. It's more like a pancake batter. Oh man! These sweet, savory and crispy meat sticks are so good. These things are dangerous and addictive. I had 4! The thing is you can finish one in two bites. Anything that you can finish in two bites, should automatically fall in the category of "you can have way more than 2" haha If you're ever in Grand Haven enjoying the sites, Pronto Pups is a place you should visit. It's part of the Grand Haven experience. Just walking around and seeing the beautiful lake, with a hot dog on a stick in your hand, what more can you ask for.

Karen S.

Yelp
After an enjoyable day at the beach my daughter and I stopped for a quick snack on our way out. I have heard so much about Pronto Pups and were excited to try it for ourselves. Waited in line for 20 minutes only to find out that they wouldn't accommodate her allergies (eggs and nuts) and give her a hot dog without the batter. The girls at the window said they weren't allowed to do that. I understand that they don't make the rules but wouldn't just giving us a hot dog that they didn't have to batter be easier than having to batter one? Wish there were more places that accommodate customers with allergies.

Sydni P.

Yelp
Great stop for a snack! Line was long but went very quick. Fresh food and friendly service.

Jennifer G.

Yelp
This is the best corn dog I've ever had in my life, and yes I've eaten a few! The breading was perfectly crisp. The price couldn't be any cheaper. We waited until later in the evening so we didn't have to stand in line quite so long, but it was well worth the wait!

Kathleen S.

Yelp
You probably can't say you've truly experienced Grand Haven without a trip to Pronto Pup! This place wasn't hard to find. It's across the street from Dairy Treat but really just look for the loooooong line. We visited during the coast guard festivities so perhaps the line was longer than usual. I was a little concerned how long the wait would be but thankfully the line did move along and it ended up being a little over a 20 minute wait. The batter is almost non-existent. I love the corn batter on corn dogs so I wished there was a little more of it but the hot dogs are practically fried to order and came out hot. You can ask for ketchup, mustard, or both on the hot dogs. A pup will only set you back $1.75 and if you're hungry you probably need at least two, more likely three to quell your appetite. Cash only. Small drink - 50 cents Large drink - $1 That's all they sell along with $10 t-shirts. Tip: I don't recommend the lemonade unless you like the Minute Maid lemonade you can get from the grocery store because that's what it tastes like.

Linda C.

Yelp
Waited in line for about 15 minutes and our pups!! I had the mustard on mine, while you can get ketchup too or plain. Great tasting dog, no complaints!! A must try in this beautiful coast guard town in Grand Haven!!

Koko C.

Yelp
Laughing at all the 5-star reviews for...HOT DOGS. That pretty much says it all. For those who think formed meat emulsion on a stick is culinary genius (worthy of 5 stars), be prepared for very long lines in the sun or rain. Tried it once to see what the fuss was, but not coming back. Basically, they dip their hot dogs in a thin batter of corn flour, and then deep fry them. No sides, no bun, only a smear of ketchup and/or mustard, if you request it. They do have a small choice of beverages. Bring cash. Nothing to see here.

Tyler S.

Yelp
Wow! Soooo good! Be prepared to wait in line and cash only. But well worth the wait! And you can't beat the prices! $1.75 for each pup and only $1 for a large soda!
