I first discovered Proof's Sourdough bread at the Farmers Market and absolutely loved it. So, when I noticed they had opened a location downtown along my commute, I knew I had to stop in. I picked up a variety of items to try: the classic sourdough loaf, olive loaf, lemon curd Danish, rosemary twist, and a 4-pack of English muffins. The place it small but plenty of seating inside and out, very cute.
The classic sourdough was just what you'd expect, solid and reliable. The olive loaf was especially delicious when paired with my favorite homemade olive oil dip. The rosemary twist had good flavor and was enjoyable overall.
The lemon curd danish was a bit too intense for me. I usually love tart and sour flavors, but this one was overpowering. The pastry itself was great, but I wish the lemon curd had been more evenly distributed rather than just a mound in the center. A touch more sweetness would have balanced it out better. If you love very tart lemon, this might be perfect for you, but it was a bit much for my taste.
The standout item for me was definitely the english muffins. They were light, fluffy, and made the best breakfast sandwiches. I ended up eating one every morning, they're hands down the best English muffins I've ever had.
