Google
Good selection! Pricing is avg for SF but it will cost you (all items are 15-20$) but tasty and good portion size. What you see is what you get which is awesome. They have individual portions a la carte of the proteins but I wish they had some vegetable cups or something to supplement, maybe brussel sprouts or broccoli or squash Plenty of seating aswell and well maintained. Chopsticks available on request Recommend the curry tofu! Rice is just ok but with the curry it is tolerable Menu pictures included. They have many options like tofu, salmon, steak, chicken. I didn't see any lentils or shrimp which could be good to add

Google
finding good fresh food at thr airport is always a struggle so I am very happy to have come le upon this shop

Google
Proper Food is mostly a grab and go food store in terminal one. They have a decent selection of sandwiches, salads, and snacks, and the salmon was very good. But, even for airport locations, the prices were really high. $20 for a small entrée is just too much no matter where you are. But if you don’t mind the prices and are looking for something quick to grab on the way to the flight, this is a good option.

Google
the food and the service were very good. The only bad of heating up the buffalo was the hot lettuce which it made it acidic taste. The soup of the day was good size for the portion and very tasty.

Google
The salad was amazing. Salmon filet with feta, walnuts, very clean spinach, arugula and spinach. The dressing made from olive oil, which is great for my situation since seed oils inflames my acne. The tofu was also great. It tastes and feels great after eating.

Google
After traveling through different airports, I was so glad to have proper food options here. I got the salmon teriyaki with broccoli and brown rice, and coconut chai pudding. Food was flavorful and high quality - Soy sauce was really good too. Pudding was just the right level of sweetness and hydrating after a 7 hour flight. Made eating a high fiber and healthy meal while traveling hassle free!

Google
Got the vegan wrap for dinner & it was warmed up at the counter. Delicious & healthy

Google
Is this proper food? I don’t know and I don’t care but after eating this sandwich I now have learned that I MUST add banana and walnut to my pb&j.

Yelp
For airport food to-go, this is pretty good. For about $20 an entree, you can get a small-moderate size of food that is prepared well and tasted fresh. I have tried the following recently and they have all been great: * Salmon with peri-peri sauce and saffron rice: The salmon was not overcooked and the saffron rice had a decent amount of saffron in it. * Tofu asada burrito: Tofu had a nice marinated flavor, and balanced with the right spiciness of their salsa and beans. * Lemon pepper ahi tuna salad: The lemon pepper flavor on the label followed through to all the components. It was in the seared ahi tuna, the salad dressing, and in the bed of yellow rice. They will heat entrees up for you if you want. Drink options are limited. The pressed juices tasted funny (TOO healthy!), but the canned strawberry matcha oat latte was not bad. Finally, some real, er, I mean proper, food at the airport!

Yelp
I recently had an early flight out of SFO and was worried about finding a quick bite plus finding something to bring onto the plane for lunch during the flight. Will there be a lot of places open at 6am? The answer is Yes! I looked at several places before deciding on the Pasta Salad with Creamy Basil Pesto for a light breakfast, plus the Chicken BLT Wrap for later. I enjoyed both of these. I wish the pasta salad came in a larger size. They offer a very thick and sturdy paper bag for carry out. It held up being crumpled under the airplane seat. There's plenty of seating next to Proper Food. It can be nice to sit by the large windows to look at the airplanes.

Yelp
My favorite place to grab food in SFO! They have plenty of fresh healthy options that be heated up in a few minutes or eaten cold. The staff is efficient and nice. Great spot by B9!

Yelp
Downgrading my review unfortunately to 1 star . Spent $21 on one of my favorite dishes that was sold out the night before and I was told unfortunately after purchasing that they would not be able to heat up the rice ( first because there was no container ) which there are soup containers , second because there was nothing to scoop the rice into the container ( there are spoons ) , third excuse was there's only two of us and there are constant people coming and the fourth final reason was ....simply that's not my job . To add insult to injury I heard one of the people working ( Kyra Marsh) ......talking trash saying I hate when people lie ( insinuating that I was lying that that at another location in SF when I got the dish that I was accommodated ) .Both workers were terrible honestly . You know what your job is ....to provide excellent customer service .It's not just to take payment and to selectively heat up food ...I'm rooting for humans and trying to support business that aren't turning to robots and automation for menial and customer service jobs .....but these types of employees don't help the cause ! As someone who has worked in the service industry....it's extra offensive when you just see people who don't care . It really sucks as I religiously have been coming here for the past month and a half ( and have easily spent at least a couple hundred dollars ) between this location and a few in the city' in and as I often fly in to SFO and have layovers in this terminal .

Yelp
This is located in the SFO airport, so there's a lot of movement in terms of people dropping by to quickly pick up some food before continuing on to their flights. I was said people, and though not ideal, we picked up some food from their pre-packaged section. How did it go? Well... THE FOOD. - Chicken BLT Wrap. I would say this was average; a little dry and plain. - Chicken Pesto & Hummus Wrap. Surprisingly good. I liked the spicy lemon aioli combined with the hummus and chicken pesto. - Ube Snickerdoodle. It's soft and chewy with a combination of subtle vanilla and coconut sweetness. Loved it! THE DRINK. - Strawberry Vanilla by Olipop. Refreshing and bubbly. The flavor is subtle and semi-sweet. THE RETURN? Perhaps... if I'm in need for a quick food stop. The ube snickerdoodle cookie is really good and I'd come back for that.

Yelp
I was so happy to have healthy options to choose from. I had the chicken groan salad and added the corn chicken soup. For $22 it was very good food for airport standards. They offered to what up the bowl but I wanted it cold.

Yelp
Vast food choice with perfect picking for a just before a flight type of appetite. Felt fresh and varied. It is their policy bit to accept $100 bills , they'll point out to you the posted policy bear the payment area and will invite you to go and break tou bill at another restaurant. Had I known I would have taken my custom to the other restaurant to be fair as there is no justification -beside the printed policy- for this antiquated policy especially in an airport departure lounge. No ambiance or atmosphere to report but practical airport seating areas with sockets to charge your devices.

Yelp
Short and sweet review to shout out Proper Food in the SF airport! It is so hard to find healthy options on-the-go, especially when you're rushing to catch a flight. Enter Proper Food, with a wall full of freshly made, colorful dishes. My friends and I grabbed a little bit of everything - and I was especially impressed that they'll actually heat up some meals for you. I went with their potato salad, which was surprisingly light and herby, and didn't have a strong mayo flavor like other potato salads often do. I also grabbed one of their Energy Bars for the plane, and loved the taste and texture. It was topped with some sort of cherry spread, and had chocolate chunks and a strong date flavor throughout. I'd love to see more airports embrace healthy, fast casual dining concepts like Proper Food! For now, this will be a regular stop whenever I'm flying into or out of SFO.

Yelp
I LOVE Proper Food and truly believe it should be available in every airport. The meals are always fresh and they provide such a welcome reprieve from normal travel food. I almost always get the egg white turkey wrap when I'm in SFO early in the morning. They heat it up for you and wrap it in foil, so ever if it's a little too early for breakfast, I can bring it on the plane and eat it warm an hour later. The prices are a bit higher than other restaurants at SFO, but I believe the quality is well worth it. They also have a ton of easily portable packaged snacks that come from local vendors.

Yelp
I'm greatful for the vegan options. I ordered the vegan coconut curry tofu & it was very flavorful w little spicy kick. Please note that their food is premade & only reheated. CC accepted

Yelp
I love coming here for their grab and go. Yes the food is expensive, but that's because it's airport food with quality ingredients. The food is healthy, unique, and they are able to heat it up before you head on the plane. Plus they have cold drinks and snacks to take with you as well. This is by far my favorite place to get food before a plane ride, either as a grab and go or to eat right away.

Yelp
Coffee only as the breakfast offerings are a stricter shock to me. Food is pricey in SF and I couldn't justify it. Service was fine. Nice and open design to the restaurant.

Yelp
This establishment lives up to its name: not just proper airport food, but proper food. Healthy options, seasonal choices, variety, and skilled preparation: much more to offer than your typical grab and go. My spring salad with salmon was delectable. The salmon perfectly cooked and a sizable portion. The salad greens were fresh and accompanied with sautéed leeks, green beans, potatoes, and watermelon radish. Ricotta salata and tarragon vinaigrette were also included, making a delightful pairing. The salad plus a kombucha set me back over $25, but considering the quality of the food and the usual premium that airport fare involves, it felt well worth it. A sure bet for a satisfying pre-flight meal. Their grab and go case featured dishes to suit a variety of diets: plant-based, pescatarian, gluten free, etc., plus chicken and meat options. Cold drink case and a handful of sweets and snacks to choose from as well.

Yelp
Hard to eat healthy while traveling but I finally found real, healthy food at an airport! I grabbed an egg sando with turkey sausage and what tasted amazingly like a tomato chutney. Plus cheese. Now here's the thing...they will heat items for you. I expected a limp sandwich afterwards, but no, the bread sections were crispy, so they must have a toaster oven! Biting through the crispy English muffin into the soft hot egg was soooooo delicious. I went back and bought their steak chimichurri and potato set for dinner that night at home (since I wouldn't have had any groceries after a trip). Proper Food will now be a "must do" for me when at SFO.

Yelp
San Francisco airport never disappoints with unique dining options that are easy on the go. Proper food was just what I needed before boarding a 6 am flight, I grabbed a coconut chia seed pudding with berries and a bottled Mexican cinnamon mocha to have on my flight. Easy to stow in my backpack for when I needed them later that morning and good quality ingredients. I can see making this a regular when I fly early mornings and need healthy options in a rush!

Yelp
Let's start with a good. Prices aren't horrible considering the captive audience. Staff is super friendly. There's a wide selection of healthy food to choose from. Plenty of seating. As for the average, the food was OK. I got the chimichurri salmon hot plate which included roasted brussels sprouts, herb roasted red potatoes, and chmichurri sauce. Took a pass on the sauce cause I didn't wanna pay for it later. Gauging it against other "airport" food, this is better than most.

Yelp
Anytime I'm in SFO I always try to stop at this place since they notate allergies. This time I decided to place an order ahead of time from their site, and since I managed to snag a table, it made sense to get settled in first. Upon ordering, everything seemed to go smooth, but after my colleague went up to the counter to place his order (since the site gave him troubles), he managed to get his food before me. I decided to walk up to the cashier , and the guy said we don't take online orders. And I then followed up, "Are you sure.. Because I have my confirmation email right here." He seems absolutely clueless and was zero help, almost as if it was his first day. So another employee stepped in and quickly said, "we'll get your order prepared right now." She quickly grabbed the items I ordered and offered to heat up my salmon, quinoa, and broccoli. She was super helpful and knew what she was doing. The food was good, and the service from the gal was great, however from the guy was horrible.

Yelp
I used to eat at Proper Food all the time when I worked in SF. Tasty, healthy and very convenient to pick up. I am also an Andrew Weil fan and am happy to support them. I was thrilled to see this location at SFO. I got the chicken teriyaki bowl and the yogurt parfait. I wish there was one at every airport.

Yelp
Food - 5 Service - 4 Value - 5 Great place to get some fresh and healthy food in SFO. We really enjoyed both the Salmon dish we got and the Turkey Avocado sandwich. The prices were reasonable for airport food, but I know some might find it to be high.

Yelp
Wandering through Embarcadero Center, we came upon this very nice grab and go breakfast/lunch place primarily geared for the office workers in the area. Stroll right in and you'll find a brightly lit interior with a grab n go cold case along one wall full of great to-go prepackaged breakfast and lunch entrees. Mmm.. sooo many choices... The staff is friendly and greeted me with smiles and good energy! All the food choices here are very high quality, with honest natural ingredients and quite realistically sized in terms of proportion. Not too much, not too little, but just right so as not to overstuff you that you fall asleep into a food coma back at your desk. I picked up the Mediterranean Steak "Hot Plate" which they could have heated up for me in seconds, but I decided instead to take it back home first to eat later, as we just had brunch across the street. The steak was a hanger steak pre sliced thinly, lightly marinated and prepared basically rare to medium rare at best, so that you could cook it up to your desired tenderness as you wish. Served over a bed of saffron rice and accompanied by roasted garlic kale (healthy! =), red peppers, caramelized onions and feta cheese with a tahini sauce in a little plastic jar inside. It was great, and I'd come back here again for this or for many other menu choices if I find myself anywhere near here. =). All in all, this is a great place for a guilt-free healthy and delicious light meal!

Yelp
Yummy! I agree with the other positive reviews. This was my first time having Proper Food and I opted for the salmon, brown rice, broth and broccoli meal. They were very nice and heated it up for me, but while the container was hot, the food wasn't hot enough. I didn't realize until I got back to sit at my terminal, but I was hungry and it was still delicious. It's so nice to have this option in the airport! Wonderful customer service.

Yelp
Flying from SF to NYC earlier this month, I needed food to hold me over until I landed at my stomping grounds -- Brooklyn! Located near the JetBlue gate in Terminal 1, I settled on a ham and white cheddar cheese sandwich for a whopping cost of $12.76. A general mill grab and go eatery; the service was quick. I do wanna say for nearly $13, Proper Food could include a bag of chips or drink alongside the sandwich. I get airport food is pricey but this is highway robbery, to be quite frank. That said, I will say the sandwich was good and filling. A bit dry but tasty, nonetheless. I don't know if it's due to a lot of chewing of the hearty sourdough bread, but I was stuffed afterwards. If you're looking for clean ingredients for the most part, this is the place to eat. If you're open to anything, SFO has tons of food options to choose from.
google avatar

Saurabh D.

Yelp
Proper Food in SFO is one of the most convenient and healthy options when you need to "grab and go" or plan to pack a meal for the journey ahead. As advertised all of the food is made fresh from scratch and whole ingredients. Most of the meals are all refrigerated and presented in consistent packaging. The name of the item is clearly listed along with its corresponding ingredients for full transparency. The hardest part is choosing between all the options. They range from salads with different proteins to sandwiches and wraps. I opted for the Turkey Avocado Sandwich which featured turkey, avocado, lettuce cheese, along with added spreads. Additionally I couldn't resist the chocolate chip cookie as well. Both the sandwich and cookie tasted fresh and were delicious.
google avatar

Jami A.

Yelp
Yummy salad, best grab and go light filling item you can grab when traveling. Love that they also have many other options for any diet as well.
google avatar

Claire S.

Yelp
Healthy, fresh meals at the airport! They have tons of sandwiches, bowls and salads, all of which can be heated up at the counter. I really enjoyed my breakfast bowl with eggs, sweet potatoes and mushrooms. A staff member heated the bowl up for me, sans the cheese, and then put some foil on top, and I was on my way. Friendly service, healthy food and (relatively) affordable food at the airport--you can't beat it.
google avatar

Ansley T.

Yelp
Great option if you are at SFO and you are hungry waiting for your flight. This place is chock full of healthy food that you might want to get here. I got the roasted garlic herb organic tofu, which was very good and savory. I also got the coconut chia pudding which was decent as well. It's slightly pricy with the pudding being at $7.20, and the tofu at $5.95, but I'd say it's worth it. I went around 11:30am on a Saturday and there is a long line that does go by fairly quickly. My cousin got this plate with brown rice, broccoli, and steak that I tried, and that was so delicious. I am actually inspired to eat brown rice more often again because of this haha. My parents also got coconut water here, and it was super refreshing. I'd definitely come back again next time I am at SFO.
google avatar

David T.

Yelp
Proper Food at SFO/Terminal 1 has a wonderful selection of food. This time I chose a tasty Proper Bar with a whopping 380 calories. The Proper Bar was a moment of indulgence! I would give Proper Food a 5 rating based on price and food quality, but the reason for a 4 rating is based on a surprise surcharge for a SFO Employee Benefit. That is a nice gesture but I am a believer in transparency and disclosure whenever possible, even if a surcharge were to be applied to all dining establishments at SFO. Consumers deserve information about surcharges BEFORE they make a purchase.
google avatar

Yelp
Our go to spot when flying Jet Blue out of Terminal 1 is Proper Food! Located right across from gate B7, is their clean and modern storefront that's loaded with freshly made and conveniently packed meals, drinks, and artisan snacks. It's the perfect place to grab something before you head off on your trip. If you can't decide what to get, we can vouch for the salmon teriyaki with broccoli and brown rice. Yum! Pro tip: Just ask the friendly staff and they'll heat up any one of their delicious meals!

Jessica P.

Yelp
The Peri-Peri Salmon was pretty delicious. The portion size is small and pretty high priced but when one is hungry and wants something healthy, it works out well. Wish they would offer some lemon with salmon and increase portion sizes a bit. They do heat up the food so it's a neat concept.
google avatar

Aslam M.

Yelp
Food and items for sales are decent to good but some of them steeply priced. They don't put the prices on most of the food products and little price list in diff places are misleading at best. I picked up a small egg and cheese sandwich, small chocolate bar and small coffee and surprised bill cane to $21 plus tip.
google avatar

Joey W.

Yelp
A great grab and go option when you're limited on time or want something to eat during the flight. Coconut prawn & kale salad ($15.35) - lots of kale and citrus farro. The orange and coriander vinaigrette was a little heavier than expected but was very tasty. The crispy coconut shrimp was not crispy (as expected) but was packed with flavor. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised at how good this was. Also got a Wildwonder guava rose which was really good!
google avatar

Julia C.

Yelp
I enjoyed my Chinese Chicken Salad! It was pretty reasonably priced for airport food $16, a large and satisfying portion, tasty, plenty of chicken. They also had warm bowls, which I would be interested in trying next time.
google avatar

Meg C.

Yelp
I am so grateful to find this place in an airport. The food is fresh, clean eating and delicious. It's great right before a long flight. No greasy food to make you feel heavy and gross later. I also love that they donate all uneaten food at the end of the day!! I loved their chia seed pudding. Highly recommend for breakfast in this terminal.
google avatar

Susie D.

Yelp
First time getting anything from Proper Food @ SFO. I was impressed. Got couscous & Spinach Salad with Salmon. The couscous was with basil pesto. I will totally get it again the next time I travel thru SFO.
google avatar

P P.

Yelp
Friendly staff! , healthy and yummy food - love this (actually it would be better if they give more details about the ingredients) I got Coconut kale and prawn salad, $17.2
google avatar

Jessica S.

Yelp
Couldn't find hot coffee in the airport and was satisfied that Proper Food had regular hot drip coffee (organic). Offered half and half and oat milk. Regular sugar, no sweetener.

D M.

Yelp
SFO terminal 1 ready to go amazing salads, tons of vegetarian options, sandwiches, fruit, great croissants, YUM! Easy check out, will heat anything up! Best airport food ever and I've been a heavy traveler for 20+ years.

Peggy S.

Yelp
Finally airport food that is fresh and healthy. I wish this was available in my neighborhood.

M M.

Yelp
Herbed chicken sandwich was on day old soggy bread. The few bits of chicken were tasteless.

AK P.

Yelp
THE BEST AIRPORT FOOD EVER !!! Staff is super friendly. Staff seems happy. They have option to heat food for you. I am a big fan of warm food. So this is the best thing ever for me during travel. SF airport Domestic Terminal 1. Don't miss it. We ordered 3 dishes as a family. Each one of them was delicious and had a unique taste. You need to walk a little further beyond the other eating places and beyond the restrooms. But it is worth the extra walk. They have lots of to-go options if you need to carry a meal to eat inside the plane.
