"There are a lot of factors that go into making a great burger, but perhaps the biggest one is the beef. If you agree with this fairly obvious statement, then the Proper Sausages burger is for you. They’re one of the best meat shops in town, so it makes sense that their wagyu patty is meltingly tender and cooked to a perfect medium rare. "If your assignment was to make a traditional cuban sandwich and you handed this in, you might get a D-. There’s no cuban bread. Cheddar cheese and mayo are involved. But at least the Miami Shores shop acknowledges this by naming it the “Cubanish.” However, when your hypothetical teacher tastes this thing, they will bump you up to a passing grade and maybe even throw a few sparkly stickers your way too. Proper is an outstanding meat shop, which is obvious after the first bite of incredible roasted pork shoulder and smoked rosemary ham. The cheddar cheese also works surprisingly well. "The Proper Sausages burger can be a little tough to track down. It's usually a Monday and Friday special, so give them a call before you go to see if it's available. But if it is, order it. Proper Sausages is another meat shop that knows a burger should revolve around the beef. Theirs is thick, juicy, and held together with a fluffy bun from Oori Bakeshop. "As you can probably tell, this Miami Shores butcher shop specializes in sausages—and they’re outstanding. They have different varieties stuffed with things like lamb and harissa, fig and blue cheese, and beer from Wynwood Brewing. But you shouldn’t just think of this as a sausage shop. Proper has a ton of other excellent meats, from outstanding ribeye to wagyu brisket. There’s also wine, beer, and various pantry items like house-made chili oil, chimichurri, and pickled jalapenos. Oh, and then there are the deli sandwiches—which are some of our favorite sandwiches in Miami. But now they’ve switched to online orders only and it’s a great choice if you’re running low on meat. Place your order online for next day pick up.
