Proposition Chicken

I have Celiac Disease and I have to eat gluten free because of it. I ran across Proposition Chicken on an eat gluten free app and decided to try it. Almost everything on the menu can be ordered gluten free including the fried chicken. I was so excited to eat fried chicken again. I ordered a gluten free fried chicken sandwich. It comes on gluten free bread and it was so delicious. I also switched the chips out for fries. The fries are cooked in a dedicated fryer, so there’s no risk of cross contamination. If the fries happen to be served with mayo, do not eat the mayo if you have celiac or are gluten intolerant as the mayo served with the fries is malted mayo, so it contains gluten. The mayo they put on the sandwich is regular mayo. The location, however, is small and there are limited places to sit to stay to eat. They were preparing a catering order and took up one of the three tables to do so. This meant having to sit at the bar style seats by the front window. This wouldn’t be bad if by yourself, but having others with you, makes it not as nice. The chairs they have are also only meant for really skinny people to be able to sit all the way back in as the curve of the seat back is not wide enough. Overall, I am very happy with my visit and plan on returning when I’m in the area.

Chicken was not good, for a chicken place i was astounded at how bad both the tenders and wings were. Sauces are bland. Chicken is low quality. Why are the tenders such different colors? See photo. So disappointed, was a waste of money. Wings are tiny.

My wife and I come here bc she is able to have a fried Gluten Free chicken Sando which brings her so much joy! I love that they use meat that doesn't have hormones and it is juicy and crispy. The last time we went, our server was super friendly and answered all of our questions. We ordered 2 Sando, one with gf bread. We also ordered the honey mustard wings (which were delicious), 2 root beers, and a 12oz of their ranch dressing. We have not ordered to go here as I enjoy a fried chicken Sando crisp. The place itself wasn't super busy for a Friday night which I loved, as we were able to order and get in and out. However, there were people coming in and out to grab their to go orders. Definitely enjoy this place and want to order the meal next time. On another visit I ordered the Entree Flipped and it came with a sweet buttermilk biscuit and a fresh tomato cucumber salad. YUM! Both visits have been great!

Proposition Chicken on Lakeshore.. I never knew this place was here! I came to Oaktown to see the Kilbert O'Splatterhouser - Buster Keaton 10 round bout at the Avenues Gym & Ring and thought I'd get a light snack before going in, and what luck, Proposition Chicken is right there! About a dozen wings and some hot sauce are all I needed to make the day perfect! 5 stars all day long. ☆☆☆☆☆

Thank you Proposition Chicken for providing another beautiful lunch for me. It was so yummy! There was reggae playing and the air conditioning was heaven-sent after walking the lake. Perfect mid-day decompression meal! :) Thanks for the great food and quality service. Got take-out for a rotisserie chicken dinner. They were very accommodating of my request for white meat only. And the fries were so good they didn't last the trip home. But the chicken was stone cold, and it was only a 10 minute trip. I feel like it had been reheated... or perhaps cooked some time prior and not reheated enough. The good news is that a minute in the microwave restored it so that it was tender, juicy, and flavorful enough to be a satisfying dish. I would go back.

Food was genuinely trash made me want to throw up. I never leave reviews before but this place was so bad I had to leave a review to warn others to never eat here it lacks seasoning you are better off eating at McDonald’s. Please shut down so the community dosent eat this food

Stumbled on Proposition Chicken by accident looking for a place to have breakfast. Glad I did! Their breakfast sandwich is a must have!

Last night at the party be like, they're staring right at us. Gross! Let's move. ...The way My So Called Friday Night went, I was in the mood for the fried chicken entrée from Proposition Chicken today! The fried chicken was nice and crispy, the tomato salad fresh, the cornbread and dipping sauce, round out the meal well. Major. ...Overall, a nice recovery meal for a bitchen hangover that won't end. My So Called Friday Night ended with Proposition chicken, ce soir. N'est-ce pas?

Did you know Prop Chicken serves breakfast now? It's a limited menu and I really didn't know what to expect but WOW. I loved my fried tofu breakfast sandwich. It came on a toasted croissant bun (slightly sweet and makes the entire sandwich really easy to eat since it's a little spongey.) The egg was perfectly soft but not runny, which I prefer for my sandwiches. We also ordered a regular egg and cheese, which my son kept stealing bites of. I'd definitely return for a yummy breakfast and with super friendly service.

Ordered through grub hub, house sitting and I forgot to get food. It took probably 20 minutes from order to delivery which is amazing because I was starved. I will say, they forgot my ranch for the potato wedges I ordered, which is why I'm giving a 4/5 stars. I would have preferred to give a 4.5 though. Everything was great. I'm so glad they put a slaw instead of lettuce, it makes it so much more balanced and crispy. So delicious. I'm a little sad this is my first experience with Proposition Chicken, I know it's 10x better fresh out of the kitchen. Guess I'll just have to go back.

My cousin did an online order from pickup. He ordered to go so we could picnic at Mountain View Cemetery. Everything was well packed except they didn't provide utensils and napkins. Which was a bummer because there's no way to have matzo ball soup without a spoon! We ordered fried chicken salad and fried chicken entree. The chicken was crispy crunchy and well seasoned. I just wish the chicken was juicy... it was a bit dry. And since we were picnicking there was no way to eat the matzo ball soup. We ended up bringing that home to eat instead. Pricy meal but glad we tried it.

We stopped by for a late lunch and had a time. I had an Arnold Palmer and my husband had water. We ordered SALAD kale, romaine, cucumber, mint, shredded parmesan, cherry tomatoes, black pepper parmesan dressing, honey mustard wings with ranch and brown sugar brussels sprouts. Everything was really flavorful and delicious. Service was good and the ambiance is a nice vibe. I can't wait to come back.

Me and my wife had lunch at Proposition chicken for lunch. When we came into the restaurant we were greeted by staff. We ordered fried chicken salad, honey mustard wings, fries and brown sugar Brussel sprouts. The salad was delicious and fresh. The chicken pieces were the perfect addition to the salad. The fries and chicken wings were delicious. The Brussel sprouts were also a great addition and very flavorful. The ambiance is customer service friendly and has a lot seating. This is a great place for lunch and dinner.

The fried chicken entree was delicious! The leg , thigh, and half breast were perfectly cooked. They had a very tasty and very crunchy bite on the outside. And tasty and moist meat on the inside. The dipping sauce was really good too. Also had the sage French fries and it was great! This place is fantastic and they really do have the best chicken in town!

Love this place .. nice clean decor.. simple menu with bold flavors.. fresh ingredients.. the kale salad is my go to. U gotta get a pride of fries with the house sauce .. thank me later .quick service is always a plus . Staff is nice and accommodating.. the only down fall is parking but it's worth the trouble the food is soo good

Ordered delivery through door dash. I really liked the fried chicken sandwich. The slaw had nice flavor and I liked the spice level. I also really liked the spiced wedge fries and that both those and the regular fries come with dipping sauces. Definitely will order again!

Loved the breakfast. This spot is a great afternoon chicken joint, so breakfast seems less intuitive. We tried the bacon egg and cheese breakfast sandwich. It had some quite soft bread with a light egg, bacon, cheese, and ranch mayo sauce. It was soo tasty! The sandwich didn't really need the ranch sauce, feel free to remove if you want to cut back on the density. The food came out in less than 5 minutes- really warm and delicious. Worth a good bite.

Super yummy kale Caesar and Sando. Kids love the tenders. Great staff we usually get it with fried chicken. Online ordering works great but maybe it's me, feels easier and maybe cheaper to phone in order.

Friendly service. Fast and easy to pop in. Skip the biscuits: more like a corn bread and dense and very small.

I had a disappointing first timer experience tonight. Unfortunate, since the food was pretty good. Service was inattentive and gave me the double of the wrong order. I repeated the order back while cashing out since the cashier seemed out of it, and I was charged double even after the fact. The manager also made me feel like an inconvenience while giving me the refund and barely acknowledged my time wasted. As for the food, the biscuit was good and the "tofu was tasty, I enjoyed the breading. It's overpriced considering the small portions. Because of the service, I will not be back

I love proposition chicken but this location is hit or miss. The last time I ordered from here, my order was cold and the fries were cold even though I was eating right there. I couldn't even bite into my flipped sandwich because the lettuce was welted and gross. Then when I ordered for delivery tonight this time around, my order was warm and the way it should be. My wedge cut fries were nice and crispy but they only gave me two fries for some reason which was SUPER disappointing but the sandwich was nice and warm. Hard to say if I'll be back because it isn't really consistent. I guess we will see!

I love this place! A friend told me about it and I had to give it a try. The chicken strips and fries are always so hot and fresh, so good. They're a bit pricy to say it's not a meal but the food is good so hey.

This is a miss for sure. First time trying this place. Ordered online for pick up. Got home 5 mins away. I could not eat the "chicken" in the sandwich . It was Overcooked, practically half an inch pounded Thin, rubbery, hard, inedible, chicken from inside the sandwich. Could only eat the bread and lettuce .. The dill Ranch from the wide fries were cool but goddam,this is not proposition fries, chicken is suppose to be the highlight, right?! Get out of here

Tried every fried chicken sandwich spot in Oakland and this is my favorite- simple, fresh, not greasy, and well seasoned. We love the salads too.

The sandwiches were excellent. Mouth watering good. Thank you to the staff and everyone in making this place so good.

Over priced and under delivered. How you gonna charge more for a sandwich than In-N-Out and offer a chicken sandwich less fresh than a 7-11 burger. The over hyped fries? Nothing special. This is a case of great marketing, cutting corners, and price gouging.

I am a fan of Proposition Chicken! the wings are so good, small but good like where are these little chickens. The potato wedges are my favorite! Yes Yes, I did the vegan option once and it was ok. My daughter loves the broth helps with colds and her throat when it's bothering her. The place has chill vibes and it is really nice in there! The customer service is professional and nice. Great place give it a try!

These folks make a really good chicken sandwich on a soft bun. Mildly Peppery Cole slaw in the sandwich is a perfect complement. Freshly Homemade herb fries seal the deal and the value. Compliments to the quietly competent management supervising a smooth operation.

PLEASE offer your breakfast sandwiches until at least 12. I work nights and rarely make it in on time.

Wow- I can't believe this place is only ranked 3 stars, it has to be one of the largest gaps between what I experienced myself in my entire time Yelping! There are a lot of chicken sandwich places out there, so what makes their stand out - my list goes as follows 1) the chicken was really brined and you can taste that in its moisture 2) lots of flavorful slaw with a nicely baked soft hogie bread 3) the sides OMG - the chicken broth soup was out of world. So in summary again, please try this place.

Heard it's hit or miss but my first time here and it was pretty good. Got the vegan option and it was a lot better than I expected. The service was also excellent and the cashier was very helpful.

NEVER AGAIN. I ordered buttermilk chicken wings, and got tiny, overcooked, dry, *two inch long* wings which bear no resemblance to the food pictured on Grubhub. False advertising, at the very least.

Great place to get a healthy and great tasting lunch. The chicken is delicious fried or grilled. The service is always good and the food comes out hot and fresh.

My go to was the "fake" sandwich which was fried tofu with slaw. I'd always get it vegan and gluten free with wedges but they no longer offer vegan/gluten free potato wedges or fries. The owner reached out to me a few minutes ago letting me know their supplier changed the potato wedges and now the coating has gluten. He said they're seeking alternative options and can't offer vegan fries anymore due to limited space. I appreciate the prompt response from the owner and will probably eat there still even though I can't have fries since he took the time to explain the situation which is rare these days.

What a great find! TY to the previous reviewers who led us here. Almost anything here except the biscuits and rosemary potatoes can be gluten free. The flipped (rotisserie) chicken was the best - juicy and flavorful. The gf fried chicken was okay, but clearly was cooked much earlier and reheated. It was a bit tough. Fries are delicious as is the house ranch they are served with. Cucumber and tomato side bring something virtuous to the party.

I don't know who this restaurant is for? The food comes out cold and the portions are small. I ordered the chicken entree and while the flavor and the chimichurri sauce was really good, the portion was so small I would need more than double to feel satisfied. My biscuit was cold as soon as it came out. My friend ordered the wings and the wings were cold too. Also the gluten free option was a nice consideration, but not worth it for the cold food. We will not be returning here unfortunately.

Tried this place the other day with my husband, and I loved it! They have chicken sandwiches and salads, or you can get the strips. Their food was fresh and tasty. The service was great also, we got our food so fast even though the place was packed when we got there. Also, they had the best ranch I've ever had, it's so good, definitely going back here again. Gotta try the strips and Brussel sprouts next time.

The food was amazing (5 stars) though the wait long (3 stars). I would come again, but be sure to order ahead. I had the veggie option, and my friends the fried chicken sandwich.

I was here a few days ago just passing through town and decided to stop by and try out this place. Worst idea ever! My husband and I ordered 2 fried chicken sandwiches, 1 cola coca and 1 lemonade. Our total was about $35. I had asked for dine in but changed my mind to, to go instead. We drove off already only to realize that our order was wrong. We got the fried salad instead of sandwiches and there were no utensils for the salad either. So we had to come back for some utensils because we didn't have the time to wait for our correct order. My husband and I are really disappointed in this place.

Love the fried chicken sandwich and the fried chicken salad. My go to lunch place highly recommend PS the buttermilk biscuits are a must get

The chicken was amazing. Specially the sauce that came with it and the bread was yummy!! The service was great. I didn't get to eat at the restaurant since they delivered the food at our office.

First time here I was lucky enough to come up on a parking spot rt in front of the venue I had to wait a little bit outside to order because there was a line As soon as I got to the register I place my order with no issues Mike was very courteous and efficient he told me my order would be about 15-20 min No worries Venue is clean and well decorated Indoor seating available I did not notice any outdoor seating Food was good Chicken is spicy (love it) Not too big of a fan on coleslaw So I just removed it Bread is kinda thick ... I removed the bread as well Next time I'll try a salad Price is reasonable $11.50 per sandwich

Came here for a quick dinner with a friend and I loved how easy and fast it was to order and get our food. I tried the Flipped Chicken Salad ($12.50) since I needed some more veggies and it was one of the better salads I've had! Everything tasted fresh and the black pepper Parmesan dressing really tied everything together. The chicken was a bit on the dry side, but overall good. I would definitely come back here again to try their fried chicken and sandwich options!

Let's keep this one short and sweet. The food is not bad. It was interesting how the batter on the fried chicken made me feel like like I was eating fried fish but it was chicken. Delicious fried chicken - tasted the sandwich and the patter. The coating on that fried chicken is to die for. Order and get ready for the wait. I'd get the fries because I found the chips that came with the sandwich wasn't as satisfying. But I can eat that slaw and fried chicken all day. My gluten free friend also said this is THE BEST place to get gluten free fried chicken. His exact words were "like, I am incredibly afraid for prop chicken to close one day because I wouldn't know what to do with myself." Had left over fried chicken later in the day and it was still delicious!!! I don't know what's in that coating but damn!

first time here, since my dad has been raving about it lol. GREAT location in the lakeshore area of Piedmont. My dad and I ordered two chicken sandwiches and it came with chips. I was actually torn between the fries and the chips, and wasn't expecting for the chicken sandwich to come with chips. The sandwich was PERFECT. great crisp, buttered roll, not a fan of slaw, and a toothpick to keep it all together. FRIES - too salty, made my lips burn , but will not discount this place for that, as I see fries with no salt being a future option. My dad finished his, he was hungry lol. I finished half and saved the rest for dinner tonight. Great portions, and will have to visit again soon!

Attempted to put in order for delivery (Uber Eats Credit + $4 Promo) and while I have heard fantastic things about the food, the UX and CX Interface + Additional Food Allergies are: Not able to be saved for the default user profile on Uber Eats or Grub Hub. Go team Celiac and GF, because that is a very easy modifier for all y'all, but if you are allergic to other things covered in Basic Food Handling & Safety 101 (e.g. Allergens, Anaphylaxis, Cross-Contamination) and you legit carry Rx Antihistamines & an EpiPen as I do, let's just say I am STUNNED that the goopy, anti-gluten crowd... And a SMALL percentage of people who must manage celiac daily are accommodated. FOH misheard and thought I was asking about gluten. Nope. The allergen that is lurking EVERYWHERE has three syllables, not two. FOH did not know what the allergen was, even after I explained it in very simple, specific terms [stage cough] "Hot Ones" Ahem... "Scoville Units" I held, (to The Sound of Silence - no music, no chipper jingle, just dead air - ‍) whilst the FOH rep urgently made an enquiry with The Cook(s) in BOH. I was advised that The Kitchen Manager was not there. "Unfortunately, the Cook said that ingredient IS in the food, so... Yeah - no." "It's in EVERYTHING? Even the Brown Sugar Brussels Sprouts?" "Well, it's in almost everything, and definitely all of the chicken." Naturally, I was curious about which chilis were used and in what stages and components - could FOH Rep name them, please? "I don't know, I di'int ask." "So, you could not say whether it's 1/4 tsp dried, powdered, Anaheim chili in the brine, or Carolina Reapers-" "Ma'am, we do not use Carolina Reapers in our recipes and I am not permitted to give you the recipe. It's just that they told me the ingredient you're allergic to is in like, all the food." What in the name of Colonel Angus Sanders does FOH think I am trying to extract from them? It is not their proprietary blend of Spicy Spices in Basically All The Food, it's Allergen Information so I do not go into Anaphylaxis and get unalived! Corporate HQ: Fix your website, and make sure ALL of your staff are Current and Competent in Food Handling & Safety 101, and can distinguish a food preference, dietary restriction and a food ALLERGEN. The staff was really nice helping me out with a last minute work catering order. From the moment I walked in they said hello, explained their menu and my options for the budget I was given for our company size and I appreciated that. Plus it smells amazing in here. Street parking in available. Good food, efficient workflow, nice people. Shout out to Izery ( lady at the counter - you are a life saver ) Will come back.

Prop C Fried Chicken entree for lunch, really good....juicy, crispy and crunchy. Seasoning is not too salty, I like it as-is.
