New Restaurant Openings in the San Francisco Bay Area - Eater SF

"As of December 6, Proposition Chicken will lay down new roots with a flagship location at Laurel Village, serving fried, rotisserie, or 'fake' (as in, crispy BBQ tofu) chicken to the Laurel Heights neighborhood. A location at San Francisco International Airport also debuted this month, just in time for busy holiday travel season." - Becky Duffett

Tofu entree was very good and different from most vegetarian options you normally see. Biscuit was delicious. The chicken in the salad was dry so that dish was a disappointment. Why can’t chicken places not serve dry chicken?? The rest of the salad was okay, nothing spectacular. Next time we’ll try the fried chicken and then decide if this place is worth coming again.

Google
⭐☆☆☆☆ Proposition Chicken – California St I’m a delivery driver. I came to pick up an order and knocked respectfully. The guy —yes, the same one who appears in their Google business photo— looked me straight in the eye and still chose to speak to me through the glass. No greeting, no explanation, no effort to be polite. Just cold and dismissive, like I didn’t even matter. That’s not store policy — that’s a lack of basic human decency. Now, to be fair: the two other employees who handed me the order and the lemonades were the complete opposite. Kind, helpful, smiling — exactly how a brand should be represented. That’s what professionalism looks like. One rude attitude can ruin the experience for everyone. You might serve good chicken, but if the treatment isn’t consistent and respectful, it all ends up tasting like cold, dry disappointment.

Google
Fried chicken sando looks really pretty. Pillowy puns are great. Appreciate the single slab of chicken breast that's pretty juicy, though it's not seasoned enough for me. The sando was a little dry without much sauce. Gotta put more than just two tiny pickle rounds in there!

Google
I am such a fan! Proposition Chicken is a family favorite. No arguments. There is something for everyone on their menu, ESPECIALLY for the health conscious! Everything is delicious, flavorful and filling. I’m partial to the flipped entree, with a side of spicy slaw, and I always order the bone broth to go!

Google
Without a doubt, Proposition Chicken serves some of the best chicken meals in the entire San Francisco Bay Area. The food is consistently tasty, fresh, and well cooked. What really sets this particular spot apart is the people. The staff is passionate and clearly cares about creating a great experience for every customer. I especially want to give a shout-out to Ann — she's always friendly, helpful, and upbeat. Her positive energy makes every visit even more fun. Tasty food, great service, and nice people. Highly recommend!

This is the third Prop Chicken location I’ve tried in the Bay Area. I ordered a flipped chicken salad and garlic thyme potato wedges for lunch. They were both great! The lettuce was nice and crunchy, and the chicken was well seasoned. The garlic thyme potato wedges arrived still warm and crispy. Definitely a good pairing overall and fantastic lunch or dinner option.

Google
I love Proposition Chicken food and wanted to call out this location in particular. I’ve stopped in multiple times, and every employee here has been friendly, gracious, and helpful. I have a small kid, and she loves the food here. This is one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants.

Google
Typical chicken place. Their wings are small in size, with watery dipping sauce. The potato wedges were the highlight of our meal; followed by the salad. Food came out fast. Order at the counter and self-serve.

Yelp
I've had Prop Chicken at the airport and in Oakland before; this was my first time at this location. Service was friendly and super fast with my order - maybe waited 3 minutes total. I got the tenders, fries, and bone broth - I thought it would be like a pho takeout container type of thing that I could use later, but no, it's in a coffee cup, and you drink it (which I did lol.) It was good but for that item maybe not worth $6. The rest of the food was great - chicken is so crispy and fries had all this sage on top which is funnn and fancy. The sauce with the chicken is good but a little loose so I personally usually need more than is given. Great for eating fast casual!

Yelp
I came on a weekday. Parking was not horrible but can get busy. I liked the design and the vibe of the restaurant. Service was fast and the people were very friendly. We ordered using the kiosk machine at the front and it was easy. On to the food- This is our first time here, and we tried the Fried chicken sandwich, subbed the chips with biscuit (+ extra $ for butter), and a side of brussel sprouts. The fried chicken sandwich was ok, a little bit bland and slightly on the dry side. The slaw inside the sandwich was nothing special. Wish it was better seasoned. The biscuit we got was really really dry and not good at all. It tasted more like a muffin. Honey butter was very mid for the extra $1 something. It didn't taste like there was enough honey or seasoning in it. a bit expensive for what it is. brussels sprout were fine. more on the steamed side. not my favorite but not too much complaints. overall it was a bit disappointing despite the friendly service. perhaps the salad would be better. might try next time but probably won't be coming back for a while.

Yelp
Last night at the party be like, they're staring right at us. Gross! Let's move. ...The way My So Called Friday Night went, I was in the mood for the fried chicken entrée from Proposition Chicken today! The fried chicken was nice and crispy, the tomato salad fresh, the cornbread and dipping sauce, round out the meal well. Major. ...Overall, a nice recovery meal for a bitchen hangover that won't end. My So Called Friday Night ended with Proposition chicken, ce soir. N'est-ce pas?

Yelp
Updating this review now that I've had breakfast and lunch here. This fried chicken breakfast sandwich was outstanding. Is it breakfast if it's fried chicken? The answer is yes because there is eggs and bacon. They do this sandwich between a pretty good croissant bun. That's a much underrated secret to sandwiches... try and elevate your bread. It's arguably the most overlooked part of any sandwich. This was good but the star of the show is this mango habanero hot sauce they have. This is a top tier hot sauce in the game. It would pair well with anything. (4.5 Stars)

Yelp
Was really excited to try this spot but sad to say.. the chicken sandwiches were quite underwhelming with 2.5 stars at best. -Fried Chicken Sandwich - Horrible protein to bread ratio, the chicken was small and drier than the Sahara desert. -Flipped Chicken Sandwich - Same protein to bread ratio but chicken was a little juicer. -Garlic Thyme Potato Wedges - probably the best thing I ate this meal, pairs well with their habanero sauce. -Chips that came with the sandwiches were a hit, just the right amount of crunch and crisp. Service was quick, friendly and attentive.

Yelp
I really like the ethos of this place! So often I find that casual dining goes to either extreme: Either super healthy but boring salads or really unhealthy fast food made with cheap ingredients. But now I know that there is a good in-between at Proposition Chicken: Delicious food that is a little indulgent but still REAL: Housemade ingredients and chicken that's both antibiotic and hormone-free (which you can order fried or slow-roasted). Their theme is cutely imbued throughout the decor of the restaurant, which is spacious with high ceilings. Even the organization and decor of their order prep station is well thought out. It's perfect for a casual breakfast, lunch, or dinner, all of which they serve here. It's conveniently located on a good shopping strip in Laurel Heights, so great to pop into while running errands. They have friendly staff, too! Their Fried Chicken Sandwich is fabulous. I liked pairing mine with the two hot sauce options and ketchup located in the front, next to the complimentary water station. The sandwich comes with tasty housemade potato chips that are tossed with sage crumbles (which I don't like, but you can easily move the sage aside). They have a good variety of side items and dessert that I will have to come back and try next time. Don't forget to sign up for their loyalty program and you'll get a free entrée on your next visit! They have a very large, clean single stall bathroom, which was playing Ellen DeGeneres standup comedy over the speakers. Very unexpected and entertaining in a bathroom, haha. There is windowfront stool seating, as well as many tables. As for the tables, I only wish that they were a little lower because I found them a bit higher than average so a little uncomfortable.

Yelp
So I am a sucker for fried chicken and the name of this spot alone peaked my interest. The chicken was fresh, juicy, and the batter had some flavor. I just wish I could have dined in for it to have been that much fresher.
google avatar

Yelp
This is a good fast casual spot when you want something relatively quick and filling. I had a DoorDash Going Out deal for a $5 fried chicken sandwich, and it was ready in about 5-7 minutes after ordering (around 6:30 pm on a Monday night). You order and pay at the counter, and then they bring it to your table or box it up for you to go. The sandwich itself was tasty but messy - about half the coleslaw ended up outside the sandwich. They serve it on a longer piece of bread instead of a bun like many other friend chicken sandwiches. It may not have been the best chicken sandwich I had it in SF, but it was very filling. It also comes with a substantial portion of house-made potato chips. They were decent, but might have been even better if they were slightly warmed.

Yelp
There are two kinds of chicken sandwiches in The Bay Area: 1) the Fast food Chick Fil-A, Popeyes and KFC or 2) Proposition Chicken, Bakesale Betty and The Bird. Because of its proximity and my ability to order from home and have it be hot and ready in the 10 minutes it takes me to walk there, Prop Chicken has me eating more chicken. The chicken is tender and moist and the slaw is perfect. But for me it is all about the Habanero sauce! En Fuego! I will have many happy returns!
google avatar

Sarah H.

Yelp
This place is legit! I love their food. They have gluten free buns and are good quality (not super dense or cardboard like). I'm slightly obsessed with their dill sauce on the sandwiches. The staff is friendly and crazy fast! Love coming here!
google avatar

Thien H.

Yelp
It's okay. The fried chicken sandwich was better than the pieces of fried chicken. The fried chicken sandwich meat was juicy and the batter was nice and crunchy. The pieces of chicken were a fail for me because it had that older meat taste... like when you cook chicken, chill leftovers in the fridge for a day, then reheat it. It was a bit unappetizing for me personally. The potato wedges were huge. The french fries were basic but nicely fried.
google avatar

Vasanth R.

Yelp
Their fried chicken sandwich is pretty decent. I like all the different sauces they have to go with the sandwich. The sandwich has a good flavor with the slaw and bread. I felt it was a little bread heavy, which is is why I had to do 4 stars. But the food is def worth trying.

Yelp
Lunch today / brown sugar Brussels sprouts and fries! Back here again for lunch! Service is great and fast and efficient. Ambiance is like a farm house and clean n.

Yelp
I tried the fried chicken sandwich and was impressed by the size, deliciousness, and number of chips. The chicken inside was tender while the outside had the right amount of crispiness. It was large enough for me to share with my partner! The free hot sauces add to the meal - I particularly liked the habañero one. If you're taking it to go, they have pre-packaged plastic ones. It's pretty easy to get parking in the back and get in as well.

Yelp
Second time here, first time was a 4/5 but updating to a 5/5!! We loved the fried chicken sandwich. The sauce is sooo good. The wings were good but the salad and sandwich were Winners. Will definitely be coming back. Quick and kind service. Awesome fast casual atmosphere!

Yelp
Delicious salad with rotisserie chicken - really like the dressing, and the combination of flavors. Lettuce is fresh, all around a bomb salad Service was fast too Would come back

Yelp
Much better service this past week! Thank you to Nicholas for addressing my previous experience! My boyfriend and I got the following within a few minutes after placing our order at the counter: * 2 Flipped Chicken Sandwich: slow-roasted rotisserie chicken on a hearth baked roll, with mayo, spicy slaw, and sage potato chips $13.25 each * Garlic Thyme Potato Wedges, Ranch $4.15 - this was still piping hot but i couldn't help it and ate them! Seasoned nicely! Looking forward to our next meal!

Yelp
fried chicken sandwich was okay, bread was toasty and fluffy inside but chicken was kind of dry and not that much flavor

Yelp
Ordered to my desk when working late one night for a quick working dinner. I've always been a big fan of fried chicken sandwiches and would say this one was overall pretty good. I think I generally prefer more of a deep fried sandwich when this one felt a little more breaded. The fries were very yummy as well. The favorite was by far their special sauce which elevates both the sandwich and fries significantly! I would certainly eat / order from here again, but would probably try a new place first!
google avatar

Manjil S.

Yelp
The chicken sandwich is just ok. I would have preferred more chicken and less fried bread. Also, the service experience for me was super weird. I was never handed my number tag nor my receipt after I paid for my order and was left confused. Everyone who ordered after me had received their order but I was yet to received mine. I then had to go ask the server about my order and she asked me for my receipt which I didn't have. She then went on to talk with the guy who took my order and he looked all confused. At the end I got my order but would have preferred an easy and a smooth ordering expeirence.

Yelp
This place is such a nice find!!! I ordered their fried chicken salad and it was soooo good - I loved their homemade salad dressing. And their fried chicken was super flavorful and crunchy. For appetizers we also ordered their brussel sprouts and French fries to share - both were really good! The brussel sprouts were marinated in honey which made it perfectly savory and sweet. All affordable prices too compared to typical San Francisco prices. Highly recommend!

J J.

Yelp
I frequently crave the flipped chicken sandwich from Proposition Chicken. It's got the right balance of slaw and rotisserie chicken so it tastes hearty yet refreshing. And take my advice: upgrade to the wedges and don't forget their house hot sauce - worth it!

Yelp
Love prop chicken! Food is always fresh and their flipped sandwiches and potato wedges are my favorite

Yelp
I came here during a lunch rush so my opinion might be a bit skewed, but I thought this place was quite average. First, the staff member who took my order seemed somewhat unfriendly. Fine, I don't blame them since they could've been having a bad day, or maybe one of the many school aged kids in the store was being a nuisance. I sat at the counter by the window, and it felt like ages until my food was brought out (and I noticed the person next to me who ordered a while after me got their food first.) I wasn't in a time crunch, so I could accept that too. The major problem was that I just didn't like the chicken. I got the fried chicken sandwich, and it was really lacking in both the flavor and texture departments. The only thing that made up for it was the yummy, buttery bread. The chips it came with were also just okay. This place is a convenient option for a quick meal, but I thought the food was mediocre and the prices slightly too high.

Yelp
I was going to order the fried chicken salad but when I walked in and saw the fried chicken sandwiches being passed from the kitchen to the servers I could not resist. This location is in the Laurel Village area. You can park in front of the on the street or in the back parking lot. Both are pretty busy but I was fortunate and a spot open directly in front of the back door to the restaurant. The restaurant is casual. It's a perfect lunch spot. You can order at the front and they give you a number to take back to your table. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Fried chicken sandwiches to me were a perfect size and came with a side of house made chips. Don't miss this spot if you are in the neighborhood.

Yelp
I love this place. I worked at their first store when I was 18 and 9 years later I was excited to try it again after so long. It was nostalgic to say the least and flavorful. The only thing I'll complain about is the lackluster amount of kale in my salad and the HUGE amount of cheese. I had basically a cheese salad with a side of kale . But overall I'm satisfied with the meal and the potato wedges were so yummy. Looking forward to order for my office again soon.

J W.

Yelp
Great food. Really like the Brussels sprouts and the signature breakfast sandwiches. PLEASE add Mac & Cheese to your menu. This would drive so many families to your restaurant!

Yelp
Good chicken, good & quick service, reasonable prices, ample seating & lots of free parking. I appreciate this place because it's so easy to come here and get a fairly quick and simple meal. There is a free parking lot in the rear, a rarity for anywhere in San Francisco. Order at the front counter. The menu is simple - you can order a sandwich, salad or entree (the entree comes with a corn muffin & a side salad comprised of cucumber, cherry tomatoes & mint with a very light vinaigrette that is so mild that I can't make out what type it is but that's ok). Then you choose your type of chicken which can be fried chicken, roast (called "flip" chicken), or fake chicken (tofu or plant based?). Portions are generous they give you 2-3 pieces of chicken for the entree, depending on the size of the cut. There are many sides to choose from. We had fries on this trip. Many beverages are offered, from sodas to wine & beer. The quality of the chicken is good and for the most part, cooked just right Some of the thicker cuts are moist enough but the accompanying sauces offered help. Fries were ok with some slightly limp but mostly alright with the right amount of crisp. They have their own hot sauce which is fine but I wished they have Tabasco sauce too. They bring your food to your table but you self-bus your table. We gave 20% tip anyway regardless of the minimal table service. We've done take out but I recommend eating in for a better experience, when the food is fresh out of the kitchen.

Win H.

Yelp
takeout, I got the bone broth and chicken strips. The chicken was moist and the breading was super yummy. one of the best fried chicken strips I have ever had. My only gripe was that I wish I knew the sauce was spicy and that this dish came with ranch on the side instead. but that was my fault for not doing my homework more carefully. Anyway the bone broth was rich and flavorful. I wanna come back for the salad next time !

Yelp
You know, as much as I love being able to work from home these days, there are aspects of those pre-COVID days at the office that I kind of miss. Seeing coworkers (that I liked) is chief among them, but I'd be lying if I said the days when lunch would get catered in wasn't up there. Beyond it just being a free meal, it also served as a chance to try places that I hadn't been to yet. Sure, it may not be truly representative of what places can do, but that was kind of the point too - if the food is pretty decent catered, then it must be terrific in person! At least, that was the theory...and thankfully, Proposition Chicken didn't prove me wrong! Now, ever since I had their soggy yet tasty fried chicken at my old office, I'd been wanting to visit Proposition Chicken, but never found myself near any of their locations. However, once I learned that they had expanded to Laurel Village, I made sure to stop in that very week! While the look of the place isn't anything special, I was kind of surprised by the menu. On the surface, it seems pretty simple - three main proteins (Fried Chicken, Rotisserie Chicken, and Crispy BBQ Tofu) offered in three different preparations (as a Sandwich, Salad, or Entrée). However, that's only at a glance, as they have small dishes and sides aplenty, including chicken wings, chicken strips, fries, chips, potato wedges, soup, tomato & cucumber salad, kale salad, slaws, and biscuits. -- FRIED CHICKEN ENTREE - Fried Chicken, with their Signature Herb & Spice Blend, Served with Sweet Buttermilk Biscuit and Tomato Cucumber Salad...$14.75 (https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/proposition-chicken-san-francisco-2?select=8iSNaZknP8aP5dOEiOW_Qw) For the most part, this was delicious! All three pieces (thigh, drum, breast) were juicy on the inside and the batter was crispy and well seasoned. As for the sides, the salad was refreshing, but the biscuit was AMAZING! I just wish the chicken was served hotter than how it came out. -- FRIED CHICKEN SANDWICH - Fried Chicken, with their Signature Herb & Spice Blend, on a Hearth-Baked Roll with Spicy Slaw, Mayo, and Sage Potato Chips...$12.75 (https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/proposition-chicken-san-francisco-2?select=FaLLqhlYD3KILFR_raEyxw) I don't know if it's because of the soft roll or the slaw (which had a nice hit of spice), but this was lighter than most other chicken sandwiches I've had. The cut of chicken was generous and was quite flavorful. As for the chips, they lost some crispiness in the box, but they were still rather tasty. -- ROTISSERIE CHICKEN SALAD - Slow Roasted Rotisserie Chicken with Kale, Romaine, Cucumbers, Cherry Tomatoes, Mint, Shredded Parmesan, and Black Pepper Parmesan Dressing...$13.50 (https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/proposition-chicken-san-francisco-2?select=80_jKg6LsvDk_5US-GUnEQ) Aside from a small bone I bit into and a couple of semi-dry pieces, this was pretty good! The veggies were fresh, the dressing was super flavorful, and I liked the hit of acidity from the slaw. Souvla's chicken salad is better, but this isn't far behind! -- FRIES WITH CRISPY SAGE AND MALTED MAYO...$3 (https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/proposition-chicken-san-francisco-2?select=ADTpBXQMKBMLyOPhy6ZsLQ) Pretty awesome, but especially so when you consider the price. The fries were fried perfectly, lightly salted, and came with a fair amount. As for the mayo, it was fine (not sure what makes it "malted"), but it would've been nice if it had some herbs in it. Beyond the food, the other thing I really like about Proposition Chicken is how ridiculously convenient this location is. Each time I've been here, getting a table has never been an issue and there's tons of parking, whether it be out front on the street or in the lot in the back. What's more, orders always come out super quick. Souvla may be my usual go-to for rotisserie chicken salads, and it's tough for me to resist Popeye's for my occasional fix of fried chicken, but Proposition Chicken has definitely earned a spot in my go-to rotation!

Yelp
Came here because I live nearby and always see it The chicken was flavorful and cooked to perfection, making it a solid choice for a quick and satisfying meal. The sides were tasty too, adding to the overall enjoyment. While it's a chain, the quality and consistency make it a reliable option when you're craving some delicious chicken in the area

Yelp
I am so excited that Proposition has launched their breakfast menu. Their breakfast sandwich is a combination of the classic Bacon Egg and Cheese. They also feature another sandwich that has their chicken. My location is the restaurant in Lone Mountain - the staff and management are great and the food is delicious. If you like awesome and some cool reggae in the background (ambiance) then stop by and say hello. Have you been, ??? Let me know what you think. Cheers - Chef John

Yelp
Visited on a Monday night to support their non profit Monday's program! I really appreciate businesses that find ways to give back to the community. We were a party of 4, arrived around 5:30 and we were able to find a seat very quickly. The cashier was very nice and patient as we perused the menu for the first time. I will also say that the dining area was very clean as well as the restroom. We placed our orders and found seats. Our food was out and delivered to our table within 10 mins. Everything was amazing! Although the menu is pretty basic, they have a few amazing options for sides (brown sugar Brussel sprouts). On our way out I decided I wanted to get some bone broth to go. It came out quickly and was very flavorful. I would definitely visit this location again.

Yelp
The Market Street location was a Pain to access, so I'm happy they opened within Laurel Village. Regarding Lunch, I opted for a Healthier Version of Chicken today Roast vs Fried, which was tasty but the skin needed to be discarded, I'll try the Fried next time. My order being the Entree it came with a Yummy Tomato / Cucumber Salad a bit heavy on the vinegar though, plus a delectable Biscuit, but it's what I would normally call a Muffin FYI, I would have liked Jam, Honey or Butter as an included option. As for ordering it was via DoorDash which simplified the placement and pickup. There was ample parking front and back, and the order was neatly packaged and ready upon my arrival. For those wanting to dine in the space had some nice seating and the space was pleasant. I want to go back and check out their Herb / Spiced Fried Chicken.

Yelp
I like all of the ingredients in the flipped (rotisserie chicken) salad -- a mix of kale and romaine with diced cucumber, halved cherry tomatoes, mint, Parmesan, and a parmesan caesar dressing. All of the veggies were super fresh and crisp, but the rotisserie chicken was kind of dry. Lesson learned: stick with the fried chicken!
google avatar

Yelp
Chicken sandwiches almost all have the same kind of flavor. Proposition chicken has a great delicious flavor that is simple. I also enjoyed the potato wedges. A relax atmosphere to enjoy a meal.

Yelp
Karl the Fog may have clouded the last day of Fleet Week in the Bay Area skies. But it wouldn't cloud our very spirits when it comes to doing things we always enjoy, such as filling our stomachs with chunks of locally raised chickens. These happy farm birds will always be one of the healthiest choices in our diet. Aside from great, friendly customer service, the sample ballot of Proposition Chicken was crisp and logically clear as its interior. There were three ways to choose a chicken: fried, flipped, or fake it (fried tofu blocks). They made their ingredients from scratch, ranging from marinades and soup stocks. The chickens they raised were roaming free, which means no cages with limited spaces. Their packaging was both compostable and recyclable. Also, their cooking oil was collected from sfgreasecycle to manufacture biodiesel fuel used in city vehicles. When it comes to dietary needs, it's good that Proposition Chicken has lived up to customer expectations. So, any contradictions? Then vote "YES" on Prop Chicken!

Yelp
Should I expect to be propositioned at Proposition Chicken? Probably not since I don't wear anything remotely provocative or slap on cheap cologne when I patronize this chain. It's been around since 2013 when I first tried the Market Street location and has since expanded to several locations around the Bay Area. I've let a lot of time pass between visits simply because they are so dependable, and I have to admit I've taken them for granted. I just like the simplicity of their concept as I am a Flipped person. I've never tried their Fried or Fake selections because I like a good slow-roasted rotisserie chicken. Fried chicken and tofu don't thrill me as much. I saw this spot as I was walking in Laurel Heights and realized I was in the mood for the $12.75 Flipped Salad for lunch. It was a hearty bowl with plenty of rotisserie chicken mixed with cucumber, mint, shredded parmesan, and cherry tomatoes over a bed of kale and romaine with black pepper parmesan dressing on top (photo: https://bit.ly/3faQDxN). Delicious and not left with a lot of caloric guilt afterward. OK, I could've asked for the dressing on the side, I suppose. Week later, I was checking GrubHub for some home delivery. I decided to go for the $14.50 Flipped Entree where I got a rotisserie half-chicken with the Mediterranean-style tomato cucumber salad and one of their sweet buttermilk biscuits. It got to $20 because I decided to add an extra thigh (photo: https://bit.ly/3BWALIc). Boy, it's easy to be a glutton when your fingers move faster than your nutritional consciousness. The $3 Fries with crispy sage and malted mayo were naturally addictive (photo: https://bit.ly/3R0MbPd) but no more than the poultry which didn't disappoint. If I continue on this destructive path of poultry gluttony, the chances of being propositioned will be practically nil. Yeah right. FOOD - 4 stars...continuing to flip over the Flipped AMBIANCE - 4 stars...pretty spacious on California Street SERVICE - 3.5 stars...a bit curt but the food arrived quickly TOTAL - 4 stars...wait, was that a proposition? Yelp
A tongue in cheek political humor with either fried or grilled chin salad or sandwhich is what they do. I know there are other places so I can't comment on how the SF one varies from the others. Here they are against people complaining about Karl the Fog.

Yelp
ordered a sandwich at 3:44 today. Ordered on Proposition Chicken website but it went through YELP? Received an email acknowledging my order but never received a text/email to say it was ready? I went in after about 15 minutes and my bag was sitting there. The sandwich was very cold and did not taste very good so cold! I paid almost $18.00 for a sandwich that was very subpar! Why not text/email when order is ready just as you say you will!!

Yelp
My boss got me lunch from here the other day. I got a fried chicken sandwich with fries. The chicken sandwich was huge. He also got me the spicy sauce which complimented the sandwich so well. The chicken was moist and fried well. Loved the cole slaw just wish there was more in the sandwich. My boss got it Togo so I'm not sure about the service and the ambiance. All my coworkers rave about this place so I assume they're great.

Yelp
The chicken is very crispy and not too salty. This place is near my MIL's skin treatment so it's convenient. There's a small Cal-Mart nearby for quick grocery.

Yelp
This is my favorite breakfast sandwich in the city. The bacon, egg, and cheese is the one I crave the most. I recently bought my entire work team breakfast and they overwhelmingly ordered the breakfast fried chicken sandwich. They were a big hit.

Yelp
It's easy to assign a rating to this place: it's OK. Not great. Not poor. OK. I had the rotisserie chicken salad and a side of spicy slaw. The salad was composed of kale, romaine lettuce, cucumber, a blizzard of parmesan that was not especially tasty and was lightly and sprightly dressed. The kale and romaine were obviously and the kale was not at all tough the way kale tends to be. But here's the thing: the chicken was not overly abundant and it had been grilled before being added to the salad. That dried the chicken out somewhat and to me it seemed a shame to do that to rotisserie chicken. The slaw had a bit of tang but was un-exceptional. When you enter you order at the counter, are given a number, and soon enough the food arrives. Proposition chicken is OK for a fast in and out meal when you haven't time for something better.

Yelp
First, there's chicken and then there's chicken. This place uses Mary's Chickens, which are very good and available at local supermarkets. The difference in taste is pretty dramatic. You get your choice of preparations and dishes using either fried chicken, rotisserie chicken or a chicken substitute (vegan). Every dish I have ordered was great but have not ordered vegan yet. Meals come with a (small) salad and (small) biscuit. The truth is that's all you need, but both make you long for more. I'm local, eat here all the time. And if you are not local, note that all restaurant prices are high and this is no exception, so get over it. Meals for two will run about $45 for a wholesome and tasty meal. Friendly staff. Order and sit, meals come out fast. Basic table layout, great place for kids. Ample parking in back. After dinner stop by the nearby bookstore and buy a book!

Yelp
EXCELLENT spot to have in the neighborhood. We went on a Friday night and split the fried chicken sandwich, the maple brussels sprouts, and the wedge fries (which I don't think a lot of people order - based on the Yelp photo gallery, but they definitely SHOULD!) The sandwich was delicious, I added the honey and the buffalo sauce from the condiments on the table and it really enhanced everything going on in the sandwich. If you can eat a whole sandwich in one sitting - good on you - but these are best for splitting. I will say there is a glaring gap in their menu - they have biscuits, they have fried chicken, where is the fried chicken biscuit sandwich????? (and it would be easy enough to add pimento cheese to the menu, which they should also look into!) The brussels sprouts were a bit soggy, but they had great flavor, the wedge fries were EXCELLENT. We ate in the dining room, and BOY OH BOY, this place is churning out the delivery and to go orders, the guy packing them did not rest one time while we were there.

Yelp
Arite so i was given the honorable opportunity to try something from this place ...even tho i didn't know i was finna get that chance anyway, cause i put my name on an order on somebody elses dolla(but thas a diffrent story) Anywayz.... so its a fried chicken sammich! ...and this shi righ heeyre, is pretty daymm arite!! In the to go box, it doesn't even look like much. Paper box with a sticker, open it up, see a half cut fried chicken and lettuce sandwhich with a side of home style fried 'tato chips. But then i side up and get my eat on and im like whaaa iiiss diiiss?!?! taste like an ols skool classic mcchicken sammic from the golden arches place, you know, when they tasted bomm back when they was only like a dollar before the inflation and added markup. But yep, good sized almost 10in long, fresh bread, good crisp on the initial bite, lettuce taste got that lil bit of salt, pepper n mayo ....i mean it is a clean chicken sandwhich. Not like whoa daymm but Good enough to make me ask my coworker who ordered it, where it come from(cause i didnt even look at the sticker that had advertised the business. So anyways, im giving a hard 3.5(THREE & HALF) stars on the sandwhich taste alone....leaving it a 4 star cause 3 would not do it justice.
