I love this hole in the wall gem. Holds about a hundred people. It's intimate. Always a great production or musical event. Great local actors and they sell drinks and snacks. Can't be a cultural night in town.

Prospect's latest offering is The Revolutionists by Lauren Gunderson, and it is hysterical. Is it gallows humor if a guillotine is involved? This play is about "four beautiful, badass women who lose their heads" during the French Revolution. But don't kid yourself, this is a modern play that speaks directly to us about today's events. We laughed our heads off. ONE MORE WEEKEND! April 4,5,6.

I love this intimate venue for a variety of fun events and live theater featuring local talent.

Prospect is a true community theater that draws on a deep well of local talent and a loyal constituency of volunteers and audience members. The repertoire ranges from familiar crowd-pleasers to riskier and more challenging plays. Production quality is always high in my experience, making very creative use of a small space. It's a great place to spend an evening.

It was my first time going to a Prospect Theater show and I had an amazing experience. The house manager, I believe her name tag said Maribel, was super welcoming and made me feel right at home. Very professional and generous when it came to intermission. She went above and beyond to make sure if I was enjoying the show and if there was anything I needed. They have a Snack/Bar which is really convenient. The venue was also super clean and very well maintained! Being able to be close to the actors made it a greater experience for me. Very talented people!

I had the privilege of hosting my friends live album release here 🤗 The theater is intimate and you can still be creative with the space. The volunteers and staff were such communicative and nice people. They put on plays and use the space for love music too so check them out to see what they have going on. I'm so glad I had a chance to be in the magic that is this theater 🎭

I went to my first play. The Underpants by Steve Martin. The actors did a wonderful job!! Bravo to the cast and crew!👏👏👏 I enjoyed it so much that I will be going back. The tickets were $25 a person. A cozy theater with a small refreshment selection. The bathrooms were clean and the chairs we sat in were comfortable. Enjoy!!

I went here yesterday with my wife to see The Underpants to celebrate our anniversary. We'd seen it about 15 years ago in Hayward before we were married. The Prospect Theater Project was fantastic. It's a very small venue (50 to 60 in attendance last night) and so charming. The staff really set the vibe as one of warm thanks and welcome. As such, the other attendees were all very kind and considerate. They have a small bar with alcohol and snacks, clean bathrooms, and ticket prices were great for such a high quality production. It's walking distance to a great Italian food restaurant and parking was easy. We'll be making the drive from Livermore to go see something else again. And if you can catch The Underpants it's great for a date, or anniversary, or both.

Yelp
Everything! Sets, acting seating and drinks. The staff is organized. Love this theatre!

Yelp
My husband & I never knew this company existed. Since moving here we have driven into the bay area to see as many plays as possible in a wide array of differing venues and theater companies. Serendipitously, we came across Prospect Theater Project this past week. We figured the tickets were so reasonable that we had nothing to lose. We were completely utterly surprised at this wonderful gem of a company just a couple of miles from our house. What a delight! It is a small intimate theater (a black box theater), but the performers, the staff, the direction, the acting were all top notch. The performance was as good as anything we have seen in the bay over the years we have lived in the area. What a joy, what a wonderful experience. I hope to never ever miss a play or even at Prospect Theater project and I highly recommend it.

Yelp
This theatre is a little jewel. All the actors are very professional. We try to see every play. It has a lounge with snacks and wine. Seating for about 100 people. The atmosphere is warm and cozy. Highly recommended. The plays are sporadic, but worth attending. I've never seen a bad play.

Yelp
PTP consistently produces great theatre. I just saw Long Day's Journey Into Night, a Pulitzer Prize winning play. The entire cast delivered emotionally draining, thoroughly engaging performances. It was beautiful story telling. Get on the email list so you don't miss out on great local theatre!

Yelp
Truly a hidden treasure. My wife and I have attended several productions at Prospect over the years and have yet to be disappointed (I think it's telling all the reviews are five-star!). The venue is small and intimate, the range of plays are far beyond what you would expect in a place like Modesto, and the staging and quality of the performances are equal to the best San Francisco has to offer. Alas, we've missed more than we've seen. An intriguing play is announced, and we either fail to carve out time to see it, or wait too long and it's gone - so this year we've purchased season tickets (a commitment that should underscore how incredible we find Prospect's offerings). Last night we attended YANKEE TAVERN (by playwright Steven Dietz), and found ourselves marveling once more at the choice of material (funny, profound, suspenseful). Time stood still and yet the evening flew by - the magic of live theater! if you live in Modesto and have not yet been to Prospect, treat yourself! And if you have guests coming from out of town (especially from a big city), dinner at one of our exceptional downtown restaurants followed by a performance at Prospect will dramatically change their opinion about cultural opportunities in Modesto ...

Yelp
Roosters at the Prospect Theater is a peek into another aspect of our community. It's insightful, challenging, & adds to the tapestry of our community by illustrating it's palate of colorful & diverse people. What a grand venue for young writers, actors, set designers, & the audience. If you haven't seen it, please check it out

Yelp
I had the sincere pleasure of seeing BEER FOR BREAKFAST on its opening night on Friday, January 12. I'm not a Californian not a Modestoan. I'm a Texan visiting my brother and his wife here in Modesto. I've been involved in theatre arts all my life. Teaching, acting, directing, and serving on boards. Modesto has much to be proud of in the Prospect Theatre Project. BEER FOR BREAKFAST was very well directed. The casting was, in a word, perfect as the actors fit their roles quite succinctly. The set design was also of top quality, creating a perfect environment for the story. Even the set decoration and props were expertly acquired and placed. I'm so glad I got to see this production. My home theatre is a huge facility--PTP clearly does a magnificent job with far less. Kudos, PTP. If you a in Modesto this weekend, GO! You will be happy you did! Carl Beery Moore Midland, Texas

Yelp
The Prospects's "Master Class" play about Maria Callas, one of the world's most famous opera singers, was excellent !!! If you have wondered what opera's all about attending this play is a terrific opportunity to learn about it and be thoroughly entertained. The play wove Maria's life and career story through the Master Classes she taught towards the end of her life in the 70s. Annalisa Winberg is a local opera singer who has performed all over the world. She was brilliant as Maria! The audience laughed and cried and at the end gave her a standing ovation. The other performers were very good also.

Yelp
My wife and I saw the 2pm of Yankee Tavern this past Sunday. This was our first time at PTP and we will definitely return. Great show, talented group and a friendly atmosphere. We had lunch downtown and walked over just before showtime. The Sunday matinee is perfect little afternoon getaway. Looking forward to the next one!

Yelp
After meeting a few of the kind folks that run the joint, spending some time there I feel it's an important part of our town to have these art outlets. That coming from a self-proclaimed high school drama geek. On the flipside they allowed us to get together after a better than good friend of mine passed. They were kind enough to allow us to gather there and show a short film showcasing small pieces of his life that could be translated to film. I am very grateful that they're around. Please support local art and business

Yelp
This is a great place to go and enjoy a play. The admission is reasonable and although the venue is small its part of what makes it such a great experience. You're up close to it all. The hours are nice, no too early and not too late. Parkin is easy to find and it's centrally located. After enjoying a play you can walk to one of the nearby restaurants or just enjoy the night life of downtown Modesto.

Yelp
Nice hole in the wall. I love poetry slams. Small place but very personable. You sit next to the talent.
